Germerica: Working Hard
Ludwig opened his eyes, staring at the sun shining through the crack in the curtains. It took his mind a while to process what he was seeing, but once he did, he gasped as he launched upwards.
"I'm late!" he gasped.
He couldn't understand why his alarm didn't wake him. And a glance to the side showed that Alfred wasn't in the bed. Why didn't Alfred wake him? He checked the time, wanting to know just how late he was, and then he realised the date. This was his day off. His alarm didn't wake him because he shut it off for today. And Alfred didn't wake him either because he didn't have to.
Ludwig sighed. How could he have forgotten about his day off? As he contemplated what to do, the scent of bacon reached him. He perked up, before he went over towards the kitchen.
Alfred was at the stove, and he turned towards Ludwig with a smile on his face.
"Good morning," Alfred said. "I was wondering when you'd get up."
"Don't you have work?" Ludwig asked.
"I have an afternoon shift. I figured that I would make breakfast, since this is your day off, and you're always working hard. I've got some pancakes done. They're not as good as Mattie's, but they should be edible."
Ludwig smiled, before he placed a kiss on Alfred's cheek. The American jumped. Ludwig wasn't usually so affectionate.
"Thank you," Ludwig whispered. "At least, let me make the coffee."
Alfred smiled and nodded.
