2.Lacey Stone.
October 31st, Halloween
The next morning, on the New York City cultural side of Gotham, 17-year old Lacey Stone walked through the city on the sidewalk on her way to school, with the city damp from last night's down-pour. She had long blond hair that went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back, her eyes were blue, and she wore a pink messenger-bag across her left shoulder. The Gotham sky was covered with gray clouds, as it had been all of October and every October before that. A unit of the U.S. military were out patrolling the city, like they had been doing for the last ten years.
"Hey, Lacey, wait up!" Came the voice of a little boy from behind, followed by 9-year old Tommy Donovan rushing to Lacey's right side, wearing a black/gray backpack and holding the straps with both hands. He wore an orange plaid un-buttoned short sleeve shirt, a black short sleeve shirt, blue pants and white sneakers. His Mom had dropped him off here to catch the school bus, as she had done since he was 7.
"Good morning, Tommy." Lacey greeted with a smile.
"Morning, Lace." Tommy said. "So are we still on at your place tonight?"
"Yeah, i can't wait." Lacey said.
"Cool!" Tommy said before he and Lacey high-fived each other. "Can i ask you a question?"
"Sure, fire away." Lacey said.
"Is it true that you live in the old Wayne Manor?" Tommy asked.
"Yeah, why?" Lacey said.
"The gang kids say it's a real haunted house." Tommy said.
"(Chuckles) Well, you shouldn't always listen to what the gang kids say." Lacey said.
"Yeah. I guess you're right." Well, the school bus'll be at the bus-stop any minute now. I better get going." Tommy said.
"Well, have a nice day at school, i'll see you later tonight." Lacey said.
"Alright. Bye." Tommy said before he took running.
"Bye!" Lacey said, waving at Tommy with her right hand, watching the 9-year old boy as he ran down the sidewalk, heading for the school bus-stop around the corner. As the 17-year old girl continued walking, a brown-haired tough-dressed 18-year old boy, with his backpack on, came speeding up behind her on his skate-board and crashed into her, falling to the ground off his board.
"I'm so sorry." Lacey apologized.
"Oh, it's cool." The teenage-boy said as he got to his feet. He had brown eyes, was dressed like a gang member, and his backpack was black. "Oh, hey. You're Lacey, right?"
"Yeah, that's me." Lacey said, introducing herself.
"Hi, i'm Wilder. I'm a senior at Gotham High." Said the teen-boy now known as Wilder. Students at Gotham High School had to be 19 to graduate. "My parents and i moved here in 1998 before you did last year. I live here on this side of the city."
"Oh! Nice to meet you, Wilder." Lacey said.
"Same here." Wilder said.
"Sorry." Lacey said as Wilder got back on his board, which was black.
"Nah, it's a'ight. My fault anyway for bumping into you." Wilder said. "So how are you likin' it in Gotham so far?"
"Ah. You know, it's very different from Jersey City. That's where i'm from, by the way. Um, it's so wild here. I'll bet things have never been here." Lacey said.
"Yeah, it's not much of a stable place." Wilder said.
"Um, gosh, i wonder what time it is. School staets in, like, 22 minutes." Lacey said.
"Oh! Well, you don't wanna be late, so-"
"Yeah, i better." Lacey said.
"I'll just tag along with you then." Wilder said.
"Okay." Lacey said before she resumed walking, with Wilder following her on his skate-board on her right.
