CHAPTER 3:

It was the next day, October 26th, and Leah was at Trixie's house talking to Trixie's mom, Mindy.

"So, when she told us for the first time she was gay, I was all, 'Okay, that's it?' and she was all, "Yeah.' and I was all, 'Okay, whatever. If that's who you are, that's who you are,'" Mindy recalled.

"Like I said, it went better than I expected," Trixie recapped.

"So, you're really okay with it?" Leah asked Mindy.

"Of course I am. And her father is too. We care that our children are happy," Mindy explained.

"I wish my parents felt the same way," Leah said, and Mindy looked confused.

"Leah's been living with Tori and Trina Vega ever since her parents threw her out, and now the Vegas are looking to adopt Leah," Trixie summarized.

"Leah, I am sorry they did that to you. And just so you know; you're always welcome here," Mindy promised.

"Thank you, Mrs. Stark," Leah said.

When Leah got back home, she saw Cat, Trina, David & Holly in the living room. "Everything okay?" she asked curiously.

"Everything is going good!" Cat said excitedly. "We've decided to visit Tori and Andre in New York on Halloween."

"Awh!" Leah replied. "That's good. I kinda made plans this Halloween. But I could talk to Trixie, and see if I could come with you guys."

"Sorry, honey," Holly said. "We tried to work it out so you could come with us. But we'll be leaving on a Friday, and if we wait until after your classes end, then we'd be arriving in New York at midnight. So we arranged for you to spend the weekend with Trixie and her parents instead"

"Darn, I hate timezones," Leah grumbled. "Well, I hope you guys have a good time!"

"Yeahh, we're hoping to surprise them!" Cat giggled.

"Oh, they would love that for sure," Leah said. "Are you designing costumes?" she asked, noticing the fabric on the couch.

"Yes, I am!" Cat said."It's a costume party! So we'll be in disguise, and Tori won't know who we are until we surprise her."

"That's so cool!" Leah admitted. "What are you guys going as?"

"I'm going as an international spy," Trina answered.

"And I'm going as a fairy!" Cat added quickly.

Leah gasped happily and then looked at Holly and David Vega.

"Honey, we're too old for costumes." Holly laughed.

"Yeah, I guess you are," Leah said with a shy smile.

Trina updated her status on TheSlap which read: "You can call me Trina. Trina Vega. #Halloween - MOOD = Confident".

It was now Halloween. Tori was setting up the decorations in the afternoon, hoping that she'd be done in time before the party started that evening.

Somebody knocked at the door. Tori opened her mouth to ask for Andre to get it, then remembered that he had gone out to buy refreshments and snacks for the party. "It's open!" she called out, carefully getting down from the stepladder.

She saw the door open, and a woman walked in. She realized that it was a tenant living downstairs. The tenant had black curly hair almost covering her face entirely, and blue eyes. She was wearing a dark brown cardigan and black jeans with black sneakers. "Hello," the woman said.

"Hey - it's Mara isn't it?" Tori asked.

"Yes. This is the third time I've talked to you, and the second time I've visited you," Mara mentioned.

"Yeah. It is," Tori said. "Can I help you?"

"I heard you were holding a Halloween party here," Mara replied.

"Yeah, that's right. But it's not until this evening," Tori said. "Hey – you wouldn't want to help me with the decorations, would you?"

"No. Not really," Mara said. "I'll be going now." She turned and exited the room.

"Bye," Tori said as Mara went out the door.

Andre updated her status on TheSlap which read: "Why don't I like my neighbor's vibes? - MOOD = Curious".
