Shadow Realm
Jason looked around. He wasn't in Pegasus Castle anymore. Instead, he was in a void filled with purple mist.
He was in the Shadow Realm.
He looked around and saw that he wasn't alone. Two other people were here with him. One of them was Solomon Muto, Yugi's Grandpa, and the other was... "KAIBA!" He shouted before charging.
Kaiba looked over to see an enraged Jason charging him. He turned to face him and brought everything he knew about self-defense to the forefront of his mind, and figured he was ready to fight Jason... he was wrong.
Jason ran at Kaiba, flipped over him, and swung his foot into the back of Kaiba's head sending him flying forward.
Kaiba rolled to his feet and rubbed the back of his head. "I don't know what that was about Todd, but try it again, and I'll end you."
Jason walked over to Kaiba and grabbed him by his collar before punching him in the face. "You can try!" He snarled. "But the only one being ended today, is you!" He punched him in the face again.
Kaiba punched Jason in the Solar Plexus causing him to stumble backwards allowing Solomon to step on front of them.
"Please stop!" He shouted holding his hands out. "Why are you two fighting?"
"Ask Todd!" Kaiba yelled.
"Kaiba's a manipulative ass hole!" Jason yelled.
"Me!" Kaiba demanded. "I'm not a manipulative ass! Pegasus is!"
"So are you!" Jason yelled.
"He's right Kaiba." Solomon said. "You forced me into your stadium, into your arena, and into a duel all so you could get my 'Blue Eyes White Dragon' away from me."
Jason glared at Kaiba with murder in his eyes. "You WHAT!" He already knew that Kaiba did it since he'd seen the Animé and read the Manga, but here in the Shadow Realm it was as if all of his negative emotions were amplified by ten, and he had a lot.
"I don't regret what I did." Kaiba scoffed.
Jason went to lunge for Kaiba, but Solomon was stronger than he looked and pushed him back effortlessly. "That's enough young Jason. No matter how many times you attack Kaiba it won't change anything."
"It would make me feel better at the very least."
"That it might, but still, you'll only end up hurting your knuckles."
Jason stalked away followed by Solomon while Kaiba went his own way.
"What did Kaiba do to make you this angry young Jason?"
Jason wiped his face. He didn't like talking about things like this, but he knew that Solomon Muto was a trustworthy character in the world. So he told him his story, about how his dad chased his mom away, how his dad met Catherine, how Catherine ended up in rehab and his dad kept sneaking drugs into the rehab center, how he tried to stop it only for his dad to attack him afterwards, how his sensei showed up and helped him, how his dad was thrown in prison and how his dad's money ran out leaving him unable to pay for rent and eventually being evicted from the apartment, how he ended up on the streets for two weeks, and how he entered the tournament in the hopes of getting a place of his own, and how Kaiba crushed those hopes only to throw everything away.
"Oh, grow up!" Kaiba shouted. "You think life is tough then quit your bitching and moaning and do something about it!"
Jason jumped up and ran at Kaiba before putting him in a chokehold and crushing his windpipe with every ounce of strength he had.
Rio de Janeiro
Ryder woke up and flipped his phone open to see what time it was.
9:30
April 9, 1998
He had slept for two days. He couldn't believe that he'd actually competed in, and won, the Pico da Nablina Decathlon. He pulled out the Structure Deck and looked through it. He opened the booster pack and dropped the cards.
"Wh-what is this?" He asked.
Left Arm of the Forbidden One
Left Leg of the Forbidden One
Right Arm of the Forbidden One
Right Leg of the Forbidden One
Exodia the Forbidden One
Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord
The Legendary Exodia Incarnate
Ryder looked at seven of the rarest cards ever printed. He'd only heard that there was one copy of Exodia printed, and it belonged to the famous explorer Solomon Muto. How? How did he have cards that THE Solomon Muto had. He had his Idols cards.
He put the new deck and the 'Exodia' cards in his backpack. He'd have to get a new deck box today. He ordered a big breakfast and took a shower. He'd never underestimate the comfort of a hot shower again.
When he got out of the shower he dressed and heard a knock on the door. He answered it and saw Room Service.
"Your breakfast sir." The Room Service attendant said in a Brazilian accent.
"Thanks." He told her. He reached into his bag and pulled out a hundred from the stack he'd kept from the Briefcase of money.
"Oh my." She spoke. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. Have a nice day."
"Thank you, sir. You as well."
Ryder sat down and ate his breakfast. When he finished, he brushed his teeth, grabbed his fanny pack and backpack, left another hundred-dollar tip on the table for the housekeeper, grabbed his key, and left his room for the day. He had one day in Brazil, and he was going to enjoy it.
The Shadow Realm
Jason had Kaiba in a death grip head lock. His eyes burned with murder, and it was all directed at Kaiba. He knew what Seto and Mokuba had gone through, but Mokuba was a better human being than Seto, and Seto had just pushed Jason's last button.
Seto struggled in Jason's grasp, but he couldn't get any leverage. Jason was shorter than him and he was using that to his advantage... wait. There was one thing that he could do. He elbowed Jason in the stomach.
"It's no use Kaiba!" Jason snarled. "My dad hit me harder than that! There is no way you're getting out of this!"
The air was filled with a roar and a blindingly bright light.
Jason looked up and saw the last thing he expected to see... 'Blue Eyes White Dragon'. He scrambled away kicking Kaiba away from him. He backed away until he stepped against something hard. He looked up and saw 'Imprisoned Queen Archfiend'.
•What? Are you afraid of this punk? You've got a card that can match it, and even beat it.•
"What?"
•Look deep down and you'll find it.•
Jason thought about it and remembered. "But I don't have a Polymerization."
•You didn't have one in ancient Egypt.•
"I'm not that guy. I'm just a kid from Gotham."
•No. You are so much more. You are "The undead one".•
"The what?"
•The Undead One.•
"What does that even mean?"
•you saw the flashback.•
"That wasn't me!" Jason shouted before remembering how he came to be in the Yu-Gi-Oh world. He'd died then been brought here. Did that mean he was the reincarnation of 'The Undead One'?
Ryder Furukawa
Ryder walked through the streets of Rio De Janeiro, not really sure of what he wanted to do, but he had time and money to kill. He guessed that the first thing he needed to do was get a new deck box.
He walked into a card shop on the other side of the street.
"Hello young man." The Shop Owner said. "Is there anything I can get you?"
"Yeah. I need a deck box."
"What would you like? We have single deck boxes, double deck boxes, triple, and quadruple deck boxes. We have ones that slide onto your belt, deck belts, deck bandoliers, hip boxes, side boxes, back boxes, all the boxes you need. So, what are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for a small waterproof deck box with a divider for extra cards."
"I see. Would you like to wear it on your belt, hip, side, or back?"
"I was thinking of one that I could put in my backpack, and maybe with a clip I can just clip to my belt if I need to."
"I see, I see. I have a few good options." The shop keeper pulled out four Deck Boxes. "These are the ones that I have. Personal engraving costs extra."
Ryder looked at the available Deck Boxes. There was a blue green one, a red one, a gold one, and an aqua one. He picked up the blue green one. "Could you engrave a mountain on the green with two crossed pickaxes on either side?"
"I can. Three engravings... that will cost thirty dollars an hour, about an hour's work, plus thirty for the Deck Box... you're looking at seventy dollars to cover everything."
Ryder placed a hundred-dollar bill on the counter. Mind if I buy a few dice, and a coin as well?"
"Sure thing. Are you wanting a standard dice, the dice set, or a specific dice?"
"What comes in the dice set?"
"A D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, and D20."
"The standard dice is the D6 right?"
"Yup."
"Hmm. Give me the Dice set. You never know when you're going to need it."
"You've got that right. As for the coin. Here's the coins that we have." He said holding out a box of coins.
Ryder spent a few minutes looking through the coins and found two that he liked. One had a picture of the Christus on one side, and the other side said: Les Meravelles Del Mon 10D Principat Dandorra. The other coin said yes on one side with a sun and moon on the upper part of the coin, and two hands on with eyes in the palms on the lower part of the coin. The back side of the coin Said No with a skeleton with wings on the upper part of the coin. "I'll take these two." He spoke.
"All right. That comes to five hundred Real."
"What does that translate into this." Ryder said bringing out the one-hundred-dollar bill.
"One hundred USD."
"Okay. Thanks, and here's a tip." He said pulling out a second hundred.
"Seriously?"
"What? Is it not enough?"
"No. It's too much."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I just won the Pico da Nablina Decathlon, and this is the only spare money I have."
"You?" The shop owner asked. "You won the Pico da Nablina Decathlon?"
"Yeah. I have proof if you don't believe me."
"No, no. I believe you. No one would be foolish enough to brag about winning the Pico da Nablina Decathlon."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because. It's the most dangerous Decathlon in existence. There have been ten including this one."
"Ten? I've only heard of four."
"There have been ten. You're very lucky for surviving it."
Ryder flipped his coin in the air and caught it with a smile. "I like to think I'm lucky."
"Just don't let your luck fail you."
"It's not up to me. It's up to Lady Luck herself."
"Oh. You're one of THOSE guys. Well. Good luck."
"Thanks. Do you have any suggestions for places to visit in Rio De Janeiro?"
"You could visit the Christo Redentor Statue, the Botanical Gardens, the beaches; do you have a preference on what beach you want to visit?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you want to visit the nude beaches?"
"Oh. No, thanks though."
"Very well." The shop keep said a little let down. "Then I suggest the Copacabana beach, at least visit the Copacabana Hotel to do a bit of Gambling, put your luck to the test."
"Thanks. I'll do that. Can it all be done in a day?"
"If you hurry."
"All right. Thanks."
"You're Welcome." The shopkeeper said. "Where are you staying, so I can have the deck box sent to your hotel?"
"Oh. The Hilton Rio De Janeiro Copacabana."
"So, you're already on the beach."
"Yeah. Sorry if I misled you in any way."
"No but check out the Copacabana Hotel and do some gambling on your way to your hotel."
"I'll do that. Thank you."
"You're Welcome. Now Go see Rio."
Ryder grabbed his dice and the two coins he bought and put the dice in his bag and the coins on his pocket before heading off towards the Christo Redentor Statue.
The Shadow Realm
Jason looked at Kaiba whose three 'Blue Eyes' were standing protectively beside him. He looked up at 'Imprisoned Queen Archfiend'. "If I believe that I'm 'the Undead One', what happens?"
•Say your name, and your true identity will be revealed.•
"What is my name?"
•You need to remember.•
Jason sat down and began meditating.
"Hey!" Kaiba yelled. "You think you can attack me, and then act like nothing happened! I'll show you what happens when you mess with me!" He walked towards Jason only to be pushed back. "What's this? How do you have a forcefield?!"
•I am not a forcefield pathetic human!• 'Terrorking Archfiend' boomed. •I am the King of the Archfiends, and you will show me the proper respect!•
Jason was remembering a past that could be his past, but how could it be. The only reason he toyed with the idea was because he had been killed by the Joker and woke up in the Yu-Gi-Oh world.
He looked around and saw the kid that was supposed to be him.
"Remember Aladhi..." his mentor said. "... we have been given a great honor. We are the Pharaohs blade. We are the ones who protect him from the shadows. We are his... assassins."
"Yes Barbados. I understand."
He jumped forward to that night.
•Aladhi La Yamut!•Yami yelled. •You will be the prison for the Archfiends! They will be locked inside your subconscious so that you will be forced to live with the knowledge of what you have done!•
Jason jumped back and out of his mind. "What the hell?" He asked.
•What did you see?•
"I think I learned my name."
•Good. Say it and fuse your memories.•
"I am the Ancient Assassin: •Aladhi La Yamut!•
They stood in the Shadow Realm waiting for something to happen that wasn't going to happen.
"Did-did it work?"
• still don't believe.•
"Then what am I doing wrong!?"
•You must believe that you are the Ancient Assassin.•
"Great. That's just great." Jason paced for a minute before he got an idea. "Wait. What if I were to translate it into Japanese?"
•You might as well try.•
"I am the Ancient Assassin: Fushi No Mono."
The Shadow Realm was filled with a blinding light. When the light vanished the Shadow Realm was empty.
Rio De Janeiro
Ryder walked up the stairway to the Christo Redentor Statue. He walked around it, took a few pictures, walked inside to see the chapel, and walked back outside.
"Excuse me?" He asked a couple of backpackers. "Would you be able to take my picture?"
"Of course." The first one said. "How many do you want?"
"I'm not sure I understand."
"How many pictures do you want? We were looking for someone to take our pictures too, so we could take a bunch of pictures."
"Oh. Sure!" He said enthusiastically.
The first backpacker came up and stood next to him while the other took their picture, then they switched places and the first backpacker took his and the second backpackers' pictures. Then they asked another tourist to take a picture of the three of them.
"Thank you." Ryder said.
"You're Welcome." They spoke. "Well. We'll be seeing you."
"Don't you want me to send you the pictures?" He asked.
"Oh yeah." They said taking out their phones.
They exchanged numbers and Ryder learned their names. They were twins, Tina, and Mina, and they had been doing around the world backpacking trip. They were also duelists.
They stepped onto the bus back to town and talked dueling strategy. When they arrived back at town, they stepped off the bus.
"So, where are you going now?" Tina asked.
"The botanical gardens. I'm only here for the day, and I have a few places I want to visit."
"Where else do you want to go?"
"The Botanical Gardens, Copacabana Beach, and the Hotel Casino."
"Do you mind some company?" Gina asked.
"No. Not at all."
They walked to the bus that led to the Botanical gardens. They stopped at a little sandwich stop on the way and grabbed a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a drink. Ryder bought a ham and Swiss sandwich with a bag of Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips, and a bottle of Dasani Water.
Mina bought a roast beef on rye with a bag of Garden Salsa Sun Chips, and a fruit punch Powerade while Tina bought a BLT with original Sun Chips, and a mountain berry Gatorade.
They walked through the Botanical gardens until they found a quiet picnic area and sat down. They ate in the tranquility of the Botanical gardens.
Their tranquility was interrupted when a pair of guys walked up and saw them.
"Hey buddy!" The first guys called. "You gonna share?"
"You want me to share my lunch?" Ryder asked not noticing Tina and Mina blush at his Naïveté.
The two guys broke into guffaws of laughter. "You have no idea what we're talking about do you?" The second one said.
"Look guys. Even if I wanted to, I can't. I've already eaten."
The guys laughed harder.
"Ryder." Tina said. "That's not what they mean."
"Huh?" He asked.
"You lived a sheltered life, didn't you?" Mina asked.
"I don't think so." He said slowly.
"They were referring to us."
"Oh!" Ryder said. "OH! Oh."
"Yeah."
"Do you guys want to go our separate ways?" Ryder asked.
"No." Tina said. "We don't hang around brutes who only see us as something to be dominated."
"How about we have ourselves a duel?" The second guy suggested. "We win you come with us. You win, and we go away."
"As if you'd actually do that." Mina snapped.
"No, no. We'll do it." The first guys said. "We swear on our decks."
"How about your dicks?" Tina asked. "If you lie, then we get to kick you in the jewels."
"And we have great leg strength." Mina said.
"No way." The second guy said. "Let's Go." He spoke.
"No, no." The first guy said. "We have top tier decks. We can't lose."
"Oh really?" Tina said. "So, you guys won the Tag Team Duel Championship four years in a row?"
"What?" The guys asked.
"What?" Ryder asked.
"Tag Team Fire Trap!" Tina and Mina yelled in unison.
"WHAT?!" Ryder yelled in shock.
"Oh..." the first guy said.
"...hell." The second guy said.
"Nope! We're out of here!" They yelled in unison before running away.
Tina and Mina looked at Ryder who was staring at them in amazement. "Ryder?" They asked.
"I met Celebrities!" He shouted. "You are amazing! I watched your last tag team match! You are amazing! The way you pull off combos with Mina dealing Damage, and Tina stopping all of their attacks! You are amazing!" He looked through his bag for a pen and paper. "Can I get your autographs?!"
"Sure." Tina smiled taking the paper. She signed it and passed it to Mina who signed it and gave it back to him.
Ryder looked like he'd just won the lottery.
"So, Ryder." Mina asked. "Why aren't you intimidated by us?"
"Ya know. If it were last week I probably would have been, but since I won the Pico da Nablina Decathlon, I..."
"YOU WHAT!" The twins shouted in unison.
"I-I-I won the Pico da Nablina Decathlon." Ryder said, startled by their outburst.
"You're like 15!"
"17." He corrected.
"How did you win!" They demanded.
"I'm the outdoorsy type, and I'm a daredevil."
"That Decathlon is designed for Military and Bodyguards, and it chews them up and spits them out! How was a seventeen-year-old able to win it!"
"I'm lucky."
"I'll say!" Mina said.
"Can we have your autograph!" Tina asked.
"Y-yo-you-you want my autograph?"
"Yes! You're just as much a celebrity as we are! If not more!"
"No, I'm not!" Ryder blushed.
"Yes, you are! You have done something that less than one percent of the world is able to do! You're more of a celebrity than we are!"
"I guess." Ryder said writing his autograph on two pieces of paper and giving them to the twins.
They took them and placed them in their deck boxes.
"Do you want to duel?" Mina asked.
"Against a couple of pros? I'd lose."
"You said you were a daredevil right?" Tina asked.
"Well... yeah."
"Then we challenge you to a duel!"
"Here?"
"No. We're here for a duel next week and decided to come here early so we could backpack. We have access to the stadium."
"But I can only use one deck."
"You've never seen the Tag team duel arenas, have you?"
"No."
"Let's Go." They spoke.
"Okay."
Jason
Jason woke up in his room at Duelist Kingdom. He stretched, popping his joints, and standing up. He grabbed his bag and headed for the door. He didn't know what happened after he blacked out, but he could guess.
Pegasus probably sent him to the Shadow Realm after he lost against Yugi.
As he was leaving his room, he saw Bakura walking closer. He had something in his hand, and whatever it was glinted gold in the light.
"Oh hell no." Jason said before walking up to Bakura.
"Get out of my way mortal." Yami Bakura growled.
"Make me." Jason said.
Bakura reached for his deck, but Jason jumped forward and punched Yami Bakura in his solar plexus causing intense pain and Bakura to drop the object in his hand.
The millennium eye rolled onto the floor, and Jason bent down to pick it up.
"No!" Yami Bakura wheezed. "Don't touch it!
Jason picked it up and held it out of Bakura's reach. "How about we play a game. It's called 'keep the dangerously cursed item away from the mass murderer'."
"I agree." A soft voice said from behind Jason. "Hello young Jason." Shadi said.
"Shadi." Jason said backing away.
"I mean you no harm young Jason." Shadi said.
"Even though I'm the Assassin?"
"If you have been reincarnated that means there has been a reason. Perhaps it is because you are meant to protect the Pharaoh."
"Or kill him."
"Not likely. I have seen your mind. While you are a violent individual, your violence is directed towards those who would hurt others. If you could direct that Violence in the direction of the Pharaohs best interest, then you would be the Pharaoh's blade."
"I don't think so. I'll help him, but I won't neglect those who need my help."
Shadi sighed. "I will be taking the Millennium Eye."
"How do I know that you won't give it to someone who will use it for evil intentions again?"
"Because…" Shadi said holding the Millennium Eye causing Jason to look at his empty hands. "…you are the next holder." He said holding the Millennium Eye to Jason's left eye followed by a sick squelching noise, and Jason's roar in pain.
Jason clutched at his face and slid against the wall as he tried to get away from Shadi.
"Well, you haven't died yet. You must be worthy of the Millennium Eye."
Jason looked up at Shadi as Blood ran down the left side his face. "Why?" He asked in a pained, horrified voice.
"I saw your mind, and you are more than capable of protecting the Millennium Eye. I am sorry to force such a burden on you, but you have the skills to protect it. Goodbye."
Jason staggered to his feet and looked around. He could only see out of his right eye. He grabbed the wall and stumbled through the castle, dripping blood onto the carpet and stone.
Something hit him from behind, and he fell to the floor.
"GIVE ME THE EYE!" Yami Bakura yelled.
Muscle memory took over and Jason pulled his legs up and kicked Bakura away. He rolled to his feet and dropped into a shaky fighting stance. "Back off." He said in a shaky, unconvincing voice.
"I WILL KILL YOU!" Yami Bakura yelled charging him.
Jason could see what Bakura was going to do. Bakura was going to tackle him. Jason sidestepped as best he could and chopped at Bakura's neck knocking him out.
"Thank you." Jason gasped as he fell to his knees. "Thank you." He crawled over to the wall and pulled himself up, and he continued to stagger down the hall.
"JASON!" A voice yelled.
He turned around and saw Mokuba stop in his tracks when he saw Jason bleeding from his left eye and the golden eye protruding from his socket.
"Jason. What happened?"
"Shadi." Jason gasped out. "Shadi happened."
Mokuba leaned into Jason to offer him support, and the two walked outside of the castle.
Mokuba walked him to a helicopter. He was pulled inside and heard people shouting at him. He laid on the floor and passed out.
Rio De Janeiro Duel Arena
"This will be a tag team duel!" Mina shouted to Ryder.
"All right." Ryder said placing his decks on the dueling panel. "How are we going to do this?"
"You go." Tina explained. "Then Mina goes, then I go, then you go, rinse repeat."
"All right." Ryder said flipping his coin before he drew from his Decathlon deck. "NO!" He shouted. "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!"
"What?" Tina and Mina asked in unison.
"My luck actually worked against me for once!" He shouted.
"What do you mean?"
"I didn't even put it in my deck!"
"What?"
"I just drew a winning hand!"
"Not unless you drew Exodia." Mina snarked.
Ryder placed five cards on the card reader to show 'Exodia the Forbidden one'.
"WHAT!" The twins shouted in unison. "How did you get Exodia!"
"I got it for winning the Decathlon." Mina shouted.
"Damn son!" Tina exclaimed.
"We can do a rematch." Ryder said.
"No." Tina said. "As far as I'm concerned, you won. Exodia is a legal strategy, so congratulations. You beat the Fire Trap Twins."
"I... did... what?" He asked.
"You beat us." Mina said.
"Not on purpose!" Ryder exclaimed. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!"
"So, you mean that you weren't trying to win?" Tina demanded. "Because if you weren't then I'm going to be pissed."
"NO! NO, NO, NO! I was going to play for real, but I drew Exodia! Cards that I hadn't put in my deck because I want to see what the deck can do on its own!"
"I see. Well then. Do you want to duel again?"
"WOULD I!" Ryder yelled. "LET'S GO!"
They dueled again, and Ryder lost when Mina got out her three 'Solar Flare Dragons', two 'Raging Flame Sprites' and 'Gravity bind'.
They left the dueling arena and headed for the beach before they had to call it a night.
"I'm sorry that we… you couldn't go for a swim." Ryder apologized.
"Not your fault." Mina said.
"We could always go late night skinny dipping." Tina said suggestively.
Ryder was very glad that it was dark enough that they couldn't see him blushing. "Let's not and say we did." He choked out.
"I think someone's embarrassed." Mina laughed.
"What? Me? No." Ryder said pulling on the collar of his V-Neck T-Shirt. "No, no. I just need to go to the Copacabana Casino hotel."
"Let's go then." Tina said. "Let's play a game. If we win, the three of us go for a late-night swim."
"Uh, um, and if I win?"
"We will tell you our last name."
"Th-that sounds reasonable."
They walked into the hotel and to a table. Ryder flipped his coin, but Tina caught it. "Not so fast hot stuff." She spoke. "I saw that you seem to get an advantage when you flip your coin. Not tonight. Tonight, you do this on your own luck and skill."
"Fine." He spoke. "But the coin doesn't..."
"Up pup up." Tina tutted. "No excuses. We do this raw or not at all."
Ryder went beet red, and Tina burst into tears she was laughing so hard.
Mina rolled her eyes. "Really Tina?" She asked exasperatedly. "Sorry Ryder. She does this with everyone we meet."
"You can't be too picky." Tina said.
"Yes. You can. You are supposed to find someone to spend the rest of your life with."
"No. Life's too short. Have fun, live a little, enjoy life to the fullest. You never know when you're going to die so you might as well make the most of it. When I die, I want to die either Dueling, Eating, or Fuc..."
"TINA!" Mina yelled startling everyone at their table and the surrounding tables.
"What?" Tina asked.
"We're in public. Try and have some self-restraint!"
"I haven't ripped his clothes off yet, does that count?"
"Unfortunately for you, yes."
Ryder felt extremely uncomfortable by that remark.
"Ryder?" A familiar voice asked.
Ryder looked around and saw Kaeru and Saru walking towards him. "Hey guys." He said hoping that his voice had not actually cracked.
"What's up Ryder?" Saru asked.
"Oh, um... not much."
"Hey." Kaeru said. "Who're your friends."
"Hi." Tina said. "I'm Tina, and this is my twin sister Mina."
"TINA AND MINA VON BRAND!" Kaeru exclaimed.
"Yes."
"RYDER!" Saru yelled picking Ryder up. "How in the Blood-soaked hell did you manage to pick up THE FIRETRAP TWINS!"
"I uh... I did..."
"It was so damn manly." Tina said. "There were these two guys who came up, and he told them to back off."
"Ryder?" Kaeru asked. "This is the same punk who nearly passed out after the Decathlon?"
"The same punk who wimped out after a cold shower?" Saru asked.
"Yes. He stood up and challenged them to a duel in our honor."
"BULLSHIT!" Saru and Kaeru yelled in unison.
"No. It's true. He drew 'Exodia' in his opening hand and blew them away. It was amazing."
"Ryder?" Kaeru asked. "Is that true?"
"Uh, um, uh, n..."
"Of course, it is." Tina said. "That was the moment that I knew I had to have him."
Ryder went beet red and almost went catatonic when Tina said that.
"You really are lucky." Saru said. "Drawing 'Exodia' like that."
"'Exodia' nothing!" Kaeru yelled. "He's dating the Firetrap twins!"
"Oh, yeah." Saru said. "Lucky bastard."
"You've got it all wrong." Ryder tried to explain.
"No, they don't." Tina said. "You're one of the few good people who treat celebrities like people rather than deities."
"But I asked for your autograph when I realized who you were."
"Yes." Mina said, speaking for the first time in ten minutes. "But you didn't turn into an animal or a jerk or a walking penis when you found out."
Ryder didn't know how to respond to that.
"And you don't turn into a hot, wet, dripping, drooling mess whenever you see a set of chiseled abs or a pair of toned legs?" Mina asked.
"Hey!" Tina snapped. "I like what I like!"
"Excuse me." A man said walking up to them. "Would you please leave the table? Others would like to play."
"Oh. Sorry." Ryder said. "We'll leave now."
"Not so fast!" Tina said. "We need to play one round."
"Very well." The man said shuffling and cutting a deck of cards. He threw each of them two cards.
Ryder flipped up his two cards. "Twenty-one." He said flipping up a Queen and an Ace.
"WHAT!" Tina yelled. "But I took your coin!"
"The luck isn't in the coin." Ryder explained. "It's in the man."
Tina's eye's glowed dangerously.
"Run." Saru said.
"What?!" Ryder asked.
"When a woman gets that look in her eye's... run. She's way past foreplay."
"WHAT!?" Ryder yelled jumping up. "NO! No, no, no! No!"
"You have a five-minute head start." Tina said. "Then I'm hunting you down."
"Can I at least have my coin back."
"Only if I catch you."
Ryder took off running.
"You're not giving him that head start, are you?" Saru said.
"You're off by two words." Tina said before she ran off after Ryder.
"I don't think he's making the plane back to Domino tomorrow." Saru said.
"Do you think we should help him?" Kaeru said.
"No."
"Well, I'm going to help him." Mina said before running after Ryder and Tina.
"I know what we can do for him." Saru said.
"What?" Kaeru asked.
Saru smiled. "Come on."
Six months later, Domino City Hospital.
Jason. A voice said. Jason. Please wake up. You're the only one who can help. They will kill Seto if I tell him. Please. Wake up.
Hurry up kid. Another voice said, this one caustic and acidic. I've been waiting all day for this.
Jason. The first voice said. Please. Wake up. The voice was desperate.
"Mr. Kaiba." The second voice said. "It's time to go."
Please Jason! Mokuba practically begged. Wake up!
"Let's go." The man said.
Jason could see into Mokuba's and the man's minds, and it was enough to make him rage.
The man leading Mokuba out of the room turned around when he heard a grunt. He saw Jason laying on the floor and glaring at him with two different eyes. One was the color of cold, calculated, uncaring steel, and the other was the color of liquid gold. "What the hell!" He exclaimed.
There was a knock on the door and Montgomery looked in to see what was going on. "Jason? I'm glad you're awa... What's going on!?"
"Stop him!" Jason shouted.
Montgomery grabbed the man by his shoulder and hit him in the Solar Plexus with the heel of his palm sending him to the floor. "Why did you want him stopped?" He asked.
"He's been hurting Mokuba." Jason said trying to get his feet under him.
"That's not a good idea." Montgomery said leading Mokuba back to Jason. He grabbed Jason and sat him on the bed. "Do you know how long you've been asleep?" He asked.
"No. The last thing I remember is passing out at Duelist Kingdom."
"It's been six months." Montgomery said.
"Damn it!" Jason hissed.
"Why? What's wrong?"
"Knock the guy out and call Seto Kaiba."
Mokuba looked at Jason with wide eyes. Are you going to tell Seto what happened? Mokuba thought.
"Yes." Jason answered. "Unless there is some reason I shouldn't."
"What?" Montgomery asked.
"I was answering Mokuba's question."
"What question?"
Jason looked at Mokuba. "Didn't you ask me if I was going to tell Seto what happened?"
"No." Mokuba said.
"But I heard you."
"I thought that."
Jason touched the Millennium Eye. He knew that the Millennium Eye had the power to read minds so he must have heard Mokuba's thoughts. "Help me up." He spoke.
Mokuba and Montgomery put their hands on his shoulders keeping him sitting on the bed.
"Are you All right Jason?" Mokuba asked.
"Muscle Atrophy." Montgomery said. "He'll need to exercise to get back what he lost."
"More importantly, how are you?" Jason asked.
Mokuba went quiet.
"What?" Montgomery asked.
"Remember what Panik did to your sister?" Jason asked.
Montgomery glared at the guard and reached for his deck box with a shaky hand before he put his hand down. "What should we do?"
"Make sure he doesn't leave. Let Seto throw the first punch."
"The way you let me throw the first punch at Panik?" Montgomery thought.
"Sorry." Jason Said. "Where is my Deck box?"
"What?" Montgomery asked.
"Where is my deck box?" Jason asked.
"Why?"
"Just give me my Deck box." Jason huffed.
Montgomery grabbed a deck box from the closet and handed him the box.
Jason handed it to Mokuba. "Give him 'King of Yamimakai'."
Mokuba looked through the cards until he found the card and handed it to Montgomery.
Montgomery looked at the card. "What the... how did this happen?"
"Pegasus. He trapped Panik in the 'King of Yamimakai' and told me to take it, and now I'm giving it to you to do with as you please."
"What should I do with it?"
"Make a deck that revolves around hurting him?" Jason asked. "Tear it up? Keep it in a deck as a throw away card? Use it as an Ante? I don't know. Do what you want with it. It's yours."
"Then I give it back to you." Montgomery said. "I don't want anything else to do with him."
Mokuba took the 'King of Yamimakai' and put it in Jason's deck box before closing it.
Seto Kaiba ran into the room and saw Mokuba. "What did you do to my brother Todd!" He demanded.
"Saved him." Montgomery said. "From a..."
"Let's not go there." Jason said. "The guard you gave Mokuba hurt him." He spoke. "I figured that you'd want dibs on him."
Seto looked at the guard. "What did you do to my brother, Johnson!?" He demanded.
Johnson pulled a gun from his jacket and aimed at Kaiba. "You won't be alive to do anything about it!" He yelled.
Mokuba felt a surge of Adrenaline. Johnson had made him feel afraid by threatening Seto. He forced him to do things that made him uncomfortable because of it, but at this moment he was surrounded by people that he knew would protect him from Johnson, and Johnson was threatening Seto. He couldn't let that happen. "LEAVE SETO ALONE!" He shouted rushing Johnson.
"MOKUBA!" Jason and Seto yelled.
"Mokuba!" Montgomery yelled reaching into his deck box and pulling out a card from his deck box.
Johnson aimed at Mokuba, but before he could pull the trigger Seto kicked his arms up so the shot went over Mokuba's head. Seto grabbed the gun and twisted his arm until Johnson's arms broke.
Johnson cried out in pain, and Seto took the gun before shooting the window out. He picked Johnson up and tossed him out the window.
Johnson cried out in terror until he became suddenly quiet.
A nurse came in and saw Seto holding a gun. "E-e-excuse me Mr. Kaiba, b-b-but you can't have a g-g-gun in here. It's-it's-it's illegal."
Seto handed her the gun and took out his checkbook. He wrote the hospital a check and closed the door. He looked at Jason and Montgomery. "Start talking!" He demanded.
"About what?" Jason asked.
"Why did I get a call telling me to come down here?"
"You threw him out a window."
"Explain!"
"The guy you threw out the window was hurting Mokuba."
Seto stiffened before looking at Mokuba. "Is Todd telling the truth?"
Mokuba shuffled from foot to foot before he sheepishly nodded.
Seto Knelt down and gripped Mokuba by the shoulders not missing the way he flinched away. "Mokuba? What did he do to you?"
Mokuba broke down in tears and told the three what Johnson had done and made him do.
"He did what to you?" Kaiba asked.
"He made you do what?" Jason followed.
Montgomery's eyes glowed with a faint black and white glow.
"I don't want to talk about it." Mokuba said.
"Todd." Seto said. "Are you still interested in a job?"
"Yeah."
"If you pass a background check you'll be hired as Mokuba's bodyguard. You'll have an apartment, an office at KaibaCorp, a room at the Kaiba Residence, car, benefits, insurance, Salary, anything else you might need to do your job, etc."
"When do I start?"
"Now."
"Then I have one question."
"What?"
"Know how to fix muscle atrophy?"
"If you pass the background check I'll have you moved to the Kaiba residence, and I'll have a physical therapist to help you get back to peek physical condition. You'll still be required to protect Mokuba at all times."
"Then I have a second question."
"What?!" Seto demanded.
"Got an exo-suit?"
AN: So quite a bit happened in this chapter. Jason, Seto, and Solomon were trapped in the Shadow Realm, Ryder experiences Rio De Janeiro with company, and then we go to six months in the future. Hope you guys liked it. Enjoy.
Montgomery left the hospital and stopped by the body of Johnson. He looked around with the same black-white eyes and saw Johnson's spirit floating in the air.
"What the hell happened!" Johnson demanded. "I was..."
"You took advantage of a child!" Montgomery snapped. "Now. Come along spirit. You have an entire afterlife of penance to make up for your transgressions."
"Fuck off!" Johnson said.
"I wanted to do this the easy way." Montgomery said. "But you leave me no choice." His left eye glowed with the Eye of Anubis, and he held up an empty Duel Monsters card.
With a scream of terror, Johnson's spirit was trapped inside the Duel Monsters card.
