AN: Shorter Chapter, but I hope you enjoy it.

AN: A reminder that the Duel's portrayed in this chapter were played out, so whether they are long or short, blame the card gods for the hands dealt.

Earlier that day.

Yugi, Joey, TéA, Tristan, Ryder, and Sina were walking through the streets of Domino.

"Yugi." TéA Said. "If your grandpa finds out that you've come to this store, you'll be grounded for life."

"What's wrong with a little window shopping?" Yugi asked.

"Here you go." A girl a little older than them handed them a flyer.

"What is it?" Yugi asked.

"Dungeon Dice Monsters." TéA showed the group the flyer.

"Whoa." Yugi said. "That Looks like a pretty fun game."

"How do you play it?" Tristan asked.

"No time!" TéA interrupted. "We need to go, or we'll miss our first class!"

The friends went to school but stopped when their phone All chimed in unison.

Students of Domino High School. Die to an accident at School this morning, School has been cancelled for the day. Please be ready for school tomorrow.

Thank you,

Principal Takahashi Monoma

"YES!" Joey cheered. "No school!"

"It must be pretty serious if they cancelled school." Tristan said.

"I'll say." Yugi added.

"Who cares!" Joey exclaimed. "Let's Go back ta da new game shop."

The group headed back to the game shop and looked at the sign.

"Da Black Clown." Joey read aloud.

"I Wonder who owns it?" Yugi asked.

"My father and I!" A voice said from behind them.

"Who are you?" Yugi asked.

"My name is Duke Devlin, and you must be Yugi Muto."

"Yes. How did you know?"

"You're the one who beat Pegasus in Duelist Kingdom!" Duke growled.

"'Ey!" Joey yelled, getting in Duke's face. "Back off pal!"

"Why? What are you going to do?"

"How about we settle dis wit a duel?" Joey asked holding up his deck.

'Whoa.' Yugi thought. 'Joey is totally different Duelist Kingdom. Did Legendary Heroes really change him this much?'

"Why are we dueling?" Duke asked.

"If I win den ya gotta apologize ta Yuge."

"Fine, but if I win then Yugi Muto has to denounce his title of King of Games and tell everyone that he cheated to beat Pegasus!"

Everyone looked at Duke in states of shock and confusion.

"What? Do ya got a love boner for Pegasus or somethin'?" Joey asked.

"No! BECAUSE OF YUGI MUTO PEGASUS IS GONE! HE WAS GOING TO MAKE DUNGEON DICE MONSTER THE NEXT BIG GAME, BUT THANKS TO YUGI MUTO, HE'S NOWHERE TO BE SEEN! I WILL DESTROY YOU YUGI MUTO FOR DEFEATING PEGASUS! I WILL MAKE YOU REGRET THE DAY YOU PICKED UP YOUR FIRST DUEL MONSTERS DECK! I WILL HUMILIATE YOU FOR WHAF YOU DID TO PEGASUS!"

"What are you talking about?" Yugi asked.

"No one has seen Pegasus since his defeat at Duelist Kingdom! You won; therefore, you did something to him!"

"Back off Duke." Joey warned.

"Let's duel!" Duke led them towards an elevator. They rode the elevator down to a dueling arena. "I'm recording this duel so that when I win Yugi Muto will have to tell the entire world that he cheated in Duelist Kingdom and that he's responsible for Pegasus' disappearance."

"Den, I guess I'd betta not lose." Joey said walking to his side of the arena.

They shuffled their decks and drew five cards.

"LET'S DUEL!" The two shouted in unison.

Joey Wheeler: 2000

Duke Devlin: 2000

"I'll start things off!" Duke said. "I'll set two cards in the spell and trap zone, and I'll set a Monster in Face Down Defense position." Three Holographic cards appeared on the arena. "I end."

"Duke, duke; you've got this! put that loser in his place!" Cheerleaders cheered Duke on from the sidelines.

"I'll draw a ca'd." Joey said. "Den I'll set t'ree ca'ds in da spell and trap zone and play Alligat'r's Sword in Attack position." Three holographic cards appeared in the spell and trap zone, and an Alligator with armor and a large sword appeared on the battlefield with a snarl. "Alligat'r's Sword! Attack his face down!"

Alligator's Sword ran across the field and slashed through the Holographic face down card in the Monster Zone.

"Oh no." Ryder said.

"What is it Ryder?" TéA asked.

"Dice Jar." Ryder said cryptically

"You activated my Flip Effect!" Duke yelled. "We each roll a dice, and whoever gets the lowest roll takes damage equal to highest roll!"

Joey and Duke activated the dice function on their respective sides of their fields.

"Oh good." Ryder sighed. "They tied."

"Why is that a good thing?" Tristan asked.

"Since we tied Mr. Wheeler..." Duke said. "...we need to reroll.

"Fine by me." Joey said activating the dice function on his side of the field again.

"Yes!" Ryder yelled when he saw Joey roll a three and Duke roll a one.

"What..." Yugi began but watched as the Dice Jar picked up the dice in its mouth and spit them out at Duke causing his life points to drop from 2000 to 500.

Duke Devlin: 0500

"YES!" Joey's friends cheered.

"BOO!" Dukes Cheerleaders booed Joey.

"You can do this Joey!" Yugi cheered.

"T'anks Yuge!" Joey gave Yugi a thumbs up. "I'm not gonna let dis creep talk shit about you, or any of my friends."

"I only speak the truth!" Duke snapped. "You're the one who decided it would be a good idea to surround yourself with cheaters!"

"I'm warning ya Duke. I may seem all nice in da outside, but if ya keep talkin' shit about my friends, I'll have ta make ya stop."

"You tell him Joey!" TéA yelled.

"Is it my turn?!" Duke asked harshly.

"Yeah. You can go."

"I'll draw a card, and I'll play Snipe Hunter in attack mode." A little purple imp wielding a gun with a wheel on it appeared on the battlefield and cackled "Next, I'll activate his effect. By sending one card from my hand to the graveyard, I can roll a dice. If it's a two, three, four, or five your monster is destroyed. If it lands on a one or six, your monster is fine."

"Roll yer dice den." Joey said.

Duke rolled a dice and Snipe Hunter spun the wheel on his gun.

The dice landed on three and Snipe Hunter blasted Alligator's Sword.

"Since your Alligator's Sword was destroyed by an effect, you take effect damage."

Joey Wheeler: 1250

Joey grit his teeth, 'Am I glad dat I spent two years in Legendary Heroes. If I hadn't den, I wouldn't be able to t'ink dos t'rough. Goin' ta Quandrix an' becomin' da Guildmast'r of the Blacksmiths Guild taught me how ta be patient, and yeah. I lost a few life points, but dat's nothin' ta what Duke's lost.' "Do you end?" He asked.

"Yes."

"I draw a ca'd." Joey said. "Den, I set a ca'd in da spell and trap zone and play Tig'r Axe." A large, bipedal tiger who looked like he lived at a gym appeared on the battlefield and raised an Axe over his head.

"You do realize that I'll just destroy that next turn?" Duke asked.

"Not if I don't letcha have anoth'r turn." Joey smiled. "I play da Shield an' Sword ca'd! Dis ca'd switches the Attack an' Defense of our monsters for da turn."

"What!?" Duke asked.

"Yeah, an' since my Tig'r Axe has 1100 Defense an' yer Snipe Hunter only has 600. Guess what dat means?"

"I-I lost!"

"Bingo." Joey said. "TIG'R AXE! ATTACK!"

Tiger axe ran at Snipe Hunter and cleaved it in half with a single stroke of his axe.

Duke Devlin: 0000

"NNOOO!" Duke's Cheerleader's sobbed.

"Alright!" Tristan cheered.

"Way to go Joey!" Yugi praised.

"You did it Joey!" TéA cried.

"Hey Duke!" Ryder called.

"What?" Duke asked.

"Dice Jar is a terrible Risk. Why play with it?"

"I don't have to answer your questions, but if you must know. It's because I play a dice themed deck."

"I see."

"'Ey." Joey said. "Pay up. You owe Yuge an apology."

"No, I don't."

"Yeah. Ya do."

"You cheated here just like he cheated at Duelist Kingdom."

"Why I oughta!" Joey tried running at Duke only to be stopped by Tristan.

"Chill out man! Everyone in the world just saw him say that! They won't want to buy his game now!"

"Oh yeah. Yer right! What do ya t'ink of dat Duke!"

"I think that you need to leave."

Joey took out his phone and flipped it open. He pressed six and called.

"JAY!" He yelled into the phone when Jason picked up. "Dere's dis guy at a new game store! He's not holding up ta his end of da bargain!"

"Joey. Now's Not really a good time."

"But Jay..."

"We're on our way Joey." He heard Kazutaka speak.

"Kazu? Why're ya crying?"

"We'll be there in a bit. Where are you guys?"

"Da Black Clown Game shop."

"We're on our way."

Joey turned on Duke and stared him down. "I'm givin' ya one more chance ta apologize ta Yuge before I make ya."

"I'd like to see you try Mr. Wheeler."

Joey grabbed Duke and pulled his arm back to punch him.

Duke flipped a D6 at Joey's face.

A hand grabbed Joey's arm and caught Duke's dice before it hit Joey.

"What is going on here?" a familiar voice asked.

"Pegasus?" Yugi asked.

"PEGASUS?" Duke asked.

"Yes? Who might you be?"

"My name is Duke Devlin. I showed you Dungeon Dice Monsters."

"Oh yes. That wonderful game. Now, why don't you tell me what is going on here?"

"Yugi Muto is responsible for your disappearance!" Duke yelled at the same time Joey yelled: "Dis joker owes Yuge an apology!"

"One at a time!" Pegasus said.

"You disappeared after Yugi Muto beat you at Duelist Kingdom!"

"What! That is absolutely absurd. I was attacked and in recovery. Yugi boy didn't have anything to do with that."

"He didn't?"

"No."

"Oh. I suppose that I do owe you an apology." Duke said.

"It's fine." Yugi said.

"Good thing Jason isn't here." Sina told Ryder. "He'd probably have an Aneurysm out of sheer stupidity."

"Probably." Ryder agreed.

"Would you like me to show you how to play Dungeon Dice Monsters?" Duke asked.

"Sure!" Yugi exclaimed.

They listened and watched as Duke explained how to play Dungeon Dice Monsters and played the game.

Joey looked at his phone he'd been trying to call Jason and Kazutaka for a while now, and they hadn't answered.

He pressed the redial button and held it to his ear.

"Hello?" Jason asked.

"JAY! Oh, tank goodness I got t'rough ta ya. W'ere are ya an' Kazu! We've been lookin' for ya guys."

"We got kidnapped Joey. We're down by the..." Jason looked outside and saw docks. "... we're down at the docks."

"Ya guys got kidnapped! Who was it!"

"Someone named Marik. We need to meet up so we can tell you about him."

"We'll meet ya at da diner!"

"We can't meet at the diner Joey."

"Why not?"

"Kaiba is remodeling it."

"Oh. Den, where do ya want ta meet?"

"We'll meet at my house. As far as I know, no one but Mokuba knows where it is, and how to get there when we're being followed. Call Mokuba and have him take you there."

"Will do. See ya guys dere."

"Bye Joey." Jason and Kazutaka said in unison.

"Bye guys." He said before he hung up. He opened his contacts and called Mokuba.

"Hello?"

"Mokuba! It's Joey!"

"What's wrong Joey?"

"Jason's in trouble! He told us to meet at his house!"

"I'm on my way. Where are you guys?"

"We're at da Black Clown Game Shop."

Mokuba closed his phone and put it in his pocket.

"What's Going on?" Seto asked, looking up from a black bag with a red bat on it.

"Jason is in trouble. He's meeting the others at his house, but they need someone to lead them there."

"You can't go anywhere without a bodyguard."

"How about me?" a voice asked from the shadows.

"Roi." Seto extended his arm. "I'm glad you could make it."

A young man walked out of the shadows. He was about average height with short red hair. He wore a black and red pants with a black and red jacket. "Of course." Roi shook Seto's hand. "What's Wrong?"

"My Staff turned on us. I need Someone I can trust."

"How many people do you have working for you now?"

"Including you?"

"Yeah."

"Five."

"No offense, but I think that a multi-billion dollar company needs more than five people working for it."

"I'm working on it."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I'll get Mokuba wherever he needs to go and get back here."

"No. you'll stay with him until I text you."

"Okay. You're really worried, aren't you?"

"Of course not!" Kaiba yelled.

"Dude. It's okay to be worried."

"The big five are gone Seto. You don't need to be strong anymore."

"That's where you're wrong Mokuba. I need to be strong. To show the world that I can't be knocked down."

"Is he like this all the time Roi asked."

"More or less."

"Well. Let's go." Roi led Mokuba outside and to the Black Clown Game Shop.

"While we were waitin' for Mokuba ta show up, Kazu and Conna showed up. After dat we came here." Joey finished his story.

"It sounds like you guys solved it on your own." Jason said.

"I guess we did." Joey said.

"It sounds like you didn't lose your cool during the duel either."

"Nope. I guess all dat time in Legendary Heroes paid off."

A door opened and Jason looked out to see the red headed guy walk out. He drew his gun and pointed it at the guy. "Who the fuck are you?" He asked.

There was a whistle through the air and Jason's gun was knocked from his hand.

The red head had a compact crossbow in his hand which was shot out of his hand by Jason's second gun.

Jason's second gun was knocked out of his hand by a second dart from a second Compact Crossbow.

The Crossbow was knocked out of the red heads hand by a throwing knife and Jason charged the red head, pulling his knife.

The red head pulled his own knife and the two clashed.

"Wow." The red head said. "You're pretty strong."

"I could say the same thing about you." Jason replied.

"Jason!" Mokuba yelled. "He's my current bodyguard!"

Jason looked at the red head. "What's your name?"

"Roi." The red head said.

"Jason."

"Nice to meet you, Jason."

Jason and Roi slowly lowered their knives.

"You're pretty good with those guns." Roi complimented.

"I kinda had to be. You're pretty good with those crossbows."

"Kinda need to be. So. What did you do to make Kaiba fire you as Mokuba's bodyguard?"

"This." Jason tapped the left side of his skull. "Came with some unexpected baggage."

"That's rough."

"Yeah, you gonna get clean?" Jason asked.

"You're the First person who's noticed."

"It can be difficult to detect if you don't know what to look for. Fortunately, I do."

Roi looked into Jason's eyes and knew that Jason was a person who had seen too much in his short life. He'd had to grow up too damn fast. "Who was it?" He asked.

"My Step-Mom. I watched my sperm donor Poison her to death with the stuff."

"Damn. That's rough."

"Tell me about it."

The group watched Jason and Roi have a very vague conversation.

"Time to go Mokuba." Roi said.

"But..."

"Go on Mokuba." Jason Said. "I light see you later. I might not."

"You'll see him later Mokuba." Roi said.

"See you later Jason." Mokuba said.

"See you later Mokuba."

"We should be leaving too." Yugi said.

One by one the group left until only Jason and Kazutaka were the only ones left.

Kazutaka walked over to Jason and hugged him. "I'm sorry you lost your job." She spoke.

"I'll survive." Jason returned the hug.

"What are you going to do now?"

"I'm going to back and see my Sensei."

"Huh?"

"Before Duelist Kingdom I was Training. I'll go back and finish my training."

"Okay." She spoke.

"That's tomorrow's task. I'm honestly exhausted."

"I don't really blame you."

"I'm going to go to bed. Want to join me?"

Kazutaka blushed but walked with Jason upstairs. They would deal with tomorrow when it came.

AN: As you can see, the Joey Vs. Duke Duel went WAY differently than in Canon, and for those of you who think that Duke's Deck sucked... Well, my head canon is that Duke had a deck, a dice based one since he's Duke Devlin, but he didn't play with it because Joey was bragging about how amazing he was in Duelist Kingdom. This Joey has grown a lot thanks to Legendary Heroes and Jason, so he wouldn't be as arrogant. So, Duke played with his Dice Themed Deck, and lost. Ryder plays a similar deck because it gives him a rush. Duke plays it for the theme.
