Monsters Included: Yian Kut-Ku (Blue Yian Kut-Ku), Yian Garuga

Blue Yian Kut-Ku would've been included as a separate monster, but there are virtually no differences. I just put a small mention.

I haven't seen any docile Herbivore that managed to monsterize ever since I got here. I'm assuming it's a matter of the natural bioenergy within their bodies.

The only species that consistently managed to monsterize were carnivores- namely, the Preys, the Dromes and the Raths so far. They're all higher than them in the food chain, so my hypothesis is that they'll stay as-is when they aren't worth anything enough to make them monsterize.

Furthermore, Mamono mana mixed with Bioenergy makes them smarter, as evidenced by the Raths literally never letting a Hunter get up when they attempted to fight them.Perhaps Bioenergy can also let them evolve into variants or subspecies, but I currently have no evidence of this happening.

It's unfortunate, but at least I won't have to deal with the image of an Apceros pack keeping a guy in their nest so that they could lay eggs as usual.

The next thing I need to research is the Kut-Kus, which I figured would be easy so long as I cross-reference my old notes to my new ones.

There was an.. interesting problem, though. The first time my scoutflies tracked down a nearby Kut-ku, I found it, well- her, being bullied by her favorite food.

Thanks to her new body, the blonde girl who was supposed to eat these things whole was struggling with Konchu.

I had thought their hunting methods would change, but because of her more humanoid body, she was flinching just as a hunter would when rammed by the annoying bugs.

I went to ask Rina to help her for a bit, and she agreed, though she made sure not to use bombs, considering Kut-Ku were sensitive to loud sounds.. including small bombs.

Although we just settled on using smoke bombs and Ghillie Mantles for my observations, the poor bird really did seem to need help.

...

Half an hour later, we figured out that she just needed to grab one of them and bang her head against the shell really hard so that the Konchu shell would break.

I wrote down what she looked like in my notes, but she actually had a name- Pippa.

That.. actually sounded oddly fitting for her, but regardless, I decided to capitalize on this by asking her a few questions. What she does, what she feels, and what she feels for men-

..What I didn't expect was for her to feel genuinely embarrassed. I set that question aside, but I did ask her where to find more.. or where her family was.

With a harrumph that sounded jealous for a second, she exclaimed that considering we told her we were researchers, we should at least let her tag along to point out what they really did, or because she was our first sample.

All in all, me and Rina emphasized that she stay quiet and never to blow our cover unless we wanted to run.

She agreed, but I felt like she agreed for the sake of agreeing.

..Yian Kut-Ku usually don't know how to hide, do they?

Due to what is essentially a 50/50 split between Mamono categories, and with no similar enough cases, combination types will be used sometimes.

This will be used if their physical and mental attributes are mixed together if they cannot be relegated to only one category.

Yian Kut-Ku

Also Included: Blue Yian Kut-Ku

Family: Dragon Kut-Ku

Type: Birdman-Reptile Bird Wyvern

Habitat: Forest regions, albeit can be sometimes sighted in Swamp and very rarely in Volcanic regions

Disposition: Impatient, Skittish, Cowardly, Various

Diet: Omnivorous, but prefers (large) bugs, nuts, and honey

The Yian Kut-Ku is a type of Mamono that could be initially mistaken for a dragon at first glance, but they will rarely commit to something if their attempt to threaten or discourage anyone doesn't back down. If that's the case, the Yian Kut-ku will fearfully run away and try again with another being. Although most of them are more powerful overall than the typical Prey and Drome pack, they are cowardly and will run off themselves if the pack doesn't run away.

Kut-Kus can spit out fire and have incredibly hard heads- presumably to compensate for losing their beaks.

While many Kut-Ku are blonde with pink highlights, some have primarily pink hair due to their scales, and they all have big ears protruding from the sides of their heads. Interestingly, there are numerous ways to determine the "power level" and disposition of a Kut-Ku, starting from their appearance alone.

Pippa's notes: Pink hair Kut-Kus are motherly! Glasses make anyone really pretty!

If they have blue eyes, they are usually cheerful yet less confident of themselves, although they are still a threat when provoked. If they are yellow, they are usually more confident in themselves, alongside being the usual "Alphas" of the Kut-ku family.

Furthermore, Kut-kus with pink hair, like our 'volunteer' said, are proven to be way more maternal, and while being the gentlest variation of the Kut-ku, they're still a threat when provoked.

Addendum: Blue Yian-Kut Kus have virtually no difference in hierarchy and disposition other than bullying 'normal' Yian Kut-Kus. However, they have blue hair/highlights instead of pink and the same eye color variations as the base species. They can still be blonde, although they will have blue scales instead of the normal Kut-Kus usual pink ones.

Although Yian Kut-ku do not have a mating season because they can breed in every season, unless provoked, they will seldom go after a male due to their normally cowardly nature. Instead, their "attempts" are more like mating dances, with their husbands simply just.. pitying them before getting together. However, if a Yian Kut-ku does end up pushing down a male, usually accidentally, they will first begin by nuzzling them, having their feathers pop up to determine if they are comfortable or fearful of them.

Their feathers, although used to nestle and keep their eggs or children warm, have now evolved to be used to transfer an effect similar to a love potion, albeit it doesn't force itself into their partners' senses, only that the 'hypnotic' effect only works to calm them down and urge them to agree to indulge in it as their copulation begins.

The Kut-ku will likely assume the bottom position all the same. They do try to object and ask if they can ride them, but if he raises his voice, they will become obedient and bend over regardless.

Kut-Kus, due to monsterization, are far more sensitive to loud sounds as their ears are smaller, yet they have more sensitive hearing senses, unlike before. Shouting is enough to drive them away if they're timid and weak enough, and they will run away from louder sounds, such as explosions or a more powerful monster's roar. However, tougher individuals can shake it off and pay it back tenfold by outright spitting fire at them.

All in all, if one doesn't have any particular fetishes, then Kut-Kus are one of the foreign flying wyvern Mamono that don't demand anything except one's love, considering how easy it is to repel and treat them right.

So Notable: Pippa

Pippa is a cheerful, blonde, pink-haired Yian Kut-Ku wandering away from her initial pack to see the world. Although she's as weak as her peers, she is confident enough to branch out from her original pack and travel the world- as long as she can handle it. Currently, she is traveling with a research party from the Hunter's World and promised to behave and be their eyes in the sky. She has no desire for a husband yet, but her peers say she would appreciate a man as cheerful as she is. It'd also be nice if she could find a man she can comfort.

She is constantly scolded by the palico, Rina, if she ever blows their cover while out surveying. Yet, her instincts are tolerated by her group, as cumbersome and bothersome as they are.

Also, she refers to herself in third person.

Rina's comment: STOP GIVING ME KONCHU FOR DINNER PLEASE

Lyrica's comment: She's nice. I'm letting her keep one of my spare glasses because she looks excellent in them.

Pippa had to run back to her pack, screaming in terror after we described the Garuga to her.

She did promise to come back only if we're done.

Yian Garuga

Also Included: Scarred Yian Garuga

Family: Chimaera-Dragon Garuga

Type: Birdman-Reptile Bird Wyvern

Habitat: Forest regions, but can be sometimes sighted in Volcanic regions

Disposition: Malicious, Ferocious, Aggressive

Diet: Omnivorous, prefers a carnivorous diet

Arguably the most dangerous 'regular' Bird Wyvern ever recorded in the Hunter's World, the Yian Garuga is still as unhinged and aggressive in the Foreign World. Take a black harpy, for instance, but make them exponentially worse thanthey already are. If not bullying the nearby Yian Kut-Ku pack, they're aggressively attacking things on sight with no exceptions. Any other Mamono that is stubborn or unlucky enough to draw its ire is either traumatized or outright dead.

Yian Garuga have either purple or white/silver hair and hard purple scales around their body- usually their arms and legs, alongside hard defensive spikes that can shift from being lethal to sexual tools. Furthermore, it has a prominent, spiked purple tail that can inject and spread poison as long as the Garuga hits something, similar to a Rathian. Furthermore, their heads are harder than the average Kut-Ku, able to headbutt the ground and cause it to split.

They also have smaller, yet still large, prominent purple ears protruding from their head, more resistant than a Kut-Ku's.

Certain individuals, namely ones that have gotten out alive or victorious from a tough fight, display their scars proudly, such as a scarred eye, a chipped ear, or both. These individuals are already more powerful than the average Yian Garuga, and if they still do not have a husband, tread carefully. Almost none have escaped an attack from a monsterized Scarred Yian Garuga.

Physically, they're as tough, or even tougher than the average Dragon in the Foreign World. Paired with their nigh-inability to be talked down, they make for excellent predators if anyone dares wander into their territory. If a man is foolish enough to wander into a Garuga's nest, their chances of escaping are already near zero.

Among Bird Wyverns, they have an exceptional abundance of mana, on par with 'Apex' monsters. They've also grown smart enough to know how to conserve them in any situation.

Yian Garugas will often announce their attack by delivering an ear-piercing, paralyzing scream, yet at the same time, it has developed to behave akin to a harpy song.. if that song was made solely to persecute one's ears. Any being will be urged to flinch and stand still if they do not have proper ear protection, and once that happens, the Garuga only needs to launch their attack.

They will pounce and immediately use their tail to mockingly caress their victim's cheek, spreading her aphrodisiac and putting it to work as the vicious Bird Wyvern takes one good look at their pained face before she claims them as her own.

They are most dangerous at night due to their dark coloration, and considering they already scream so loudly, they cannot be stunned by loud sounds, but they can still use their ears to accurately track down their possible prey.

In the rare case a man does defeat a Yian Garuga and claim her, she'll actively try and continue to show her dominance- often resulting in the Garuga developing a choking fetish if they want to be disciplined.

However, although they are commonly seen stalking a Yian Kut-Ku pack, resting nearby, Yian Garuga prefer solitude. Instead of stalking the Kut-Ku pack like a parasitic predator, they're seen simply harboring feelings of envy to their happy family. Yian Garugas are still petty enough to pick on lone Kut-Ku, minding their own business, sneering while they continue to bully them all the same.

Unlike their Hunter's World counterparts, Yian Garugas actually do want to learn how to become mothers. Regardless if she was 'tamed' beforehand, a Yian Garuga mother will try and slowly learn how to be a good wife, regardless of the fights she used to thrive in.

To quote an old passage in some regions:"Wherever a Yian Kut-Ku goes, a Yian Garuga will not be farther ahead."

Extra Notes - The Kut-Ku pack, and the 'one-eyed predator'

All eared bird wyverns are surprisingly normal deep down.

If not for the Kut-Kus eccentricity or the Garugas insanity and aggression, they would've been regular Mamono citizens in the nearest neutral town. The Kut-kus are timid, and the Garugas found it hard to confess their love without being seen as crazy.

The Yian Kut-Ku pack Pippa came from is a small wandering community, and albeit Kut-Ku packs are already self-sustainable due to simply foraging around their territory for food and can somewhat coordinate together to fend off threats, Pippa still wanted to branch out. She even promised us, birdbrained as she is, to behave as long as she could help.

In the end, after some convincing that Pippa isn't leaving them forever and that we weren't going to hurt them or her, they all eventually agreed. However, while resting around their pack, they kept talking about a one-eyed predator that kept unsettling them each time they were alone in the middle of the forest at night.

Some say they found a singular, red dot, staring back at them with an ominous glare. A soulless, dead gaze from the depths of the underworld that disappears the moment they run away to tell the others that it was here.

The research team found nothing except for gashes, possessing traces of red poisonous fluid at them.

Our investigation didn't bear any fruit for now, so we bid farewell to the Kut-Ku pack and left with Pippa, with Lyrica making sure she gave one pair of glasses to the bird wyvern.

I'm worried about that one-eyed thing. It sounded familiar, yet I figure it out yet. We did observe a Mamono Scarred Yian Garuga- albeit we had to adapt if we ever messed up and caused them to be suspicious.

Pippa told us that the predator didn't look like a Scarred variant. It looked way tougher, way more menacing. For now, I hoped that it was really just a Scarred Garuga.

It didn't match the descriptions. I'm certain it's a Garuga, but the thing is so elusive, we only have the red poisonous liquid to go ahead and base it on.

..But for now, all I need to do is to go to a select few locations that aren't too far off and go observe a few oversized mermaids.

Thank you for reading. This marks the 1st few chapters in . I might crosspost to Wattpad if I really want to, but here it is.

I am still taking suggestions for future So Notable sections, but those changes might stay here exclusively. I'll indulge you all as much as I can.
