Here we go again! So. I realized Squirrelflight should've given birth by now. So we shall say that she had a mis carriage due to the stress of being deputy for too long after getting pregnant. I know, continuity errors in Warriors?! NO WAY! So, this is her second time pregnant. Another thing, I do have a poll up. I will continue Warriors, but I realized something. You will all have to wait and see.
Chapter 18: Preparation and Change.
Firestar sat upon Highledge in Thunderclan. He yelled, "LET ALL CATS OLD ENOUGH TO CATCH THEIR OWN PREY, MEET UNDER THE HIGHLEDGE FOR A CLAN MEETING!" As Thunderclan came out of their dens, the assault patrols from Thunderclan, Windclan, and Riverclan walked into Thunderclan's camp, followed closely by Blackstar, Smokefoot, Olivenose, Tawnypelt, Applefur, Crowfrost, and Snowbird. Firestar looked upon the cats sitting in the Thunderclan clearing, and said, "Now. First things first. I have reunited Lionclan. So please, call me by my actual name now. Second, we successfully defended Shadowclan and repelled Tigerstar's army!" Yowls of approval were heard and Firestar continued, "Last, but not least. It's that time again!" Cloudtail looked at Seedpaw, her eyes glimmering with excitement.
Firestar said, "Seedpaw! Come up to Highledge!" Seedpaw walked up to Highledge, hiding her excitement shockingly well. Firestar looked up and said, "I, Firestar, Leader of Lionclan, call upon my Warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a Warrior in return." Firestar looked at Seedpaw and asked, "Seedpaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your own life?" Seedpaw replied confidently, "I do." Firestar said, "Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your Warrior name. Seedpaw from this moment on, you shall be known as Seedwhisker. Starclan honors your Bravery and how you never lost hope, and we welcome you as a full Warrior of Lionclan!" Everyone looked shocked at the new honor. Firestar rested his muzzle on Seedwhisker's head and Seedwhisker licked Firestar's shoulder. Lionclan yowled, "SEEDWHISKER, SEEDWHISKER, SEEDWHISKER!"
Firestar said, "Seedwhisker will hold a silent vigil to guard the camp of Thunderclan! One more thing before we end this meeting." Seedwhisker walked over to the entrance to Thunderclan and sat down. Everyone looked at him, curiosity clear in their eyes. Firestar said, "I need the Leaders and Medicine Cats of Thunderclan, Shadowclan, Riverclan, and Windclan to meet me at the Gathering Island tonight. If the leaders and Medicine Cats are not here at this meeting, please tell them when you return. It's about time I made some changes to something." Everyone's eyes went wide. Firestar laughed and said, "It's nothing bad, I promise. It will benefit everyone in the forest." Reedwhisker teased, "Since Mistystar is currently a queen, thanks to you; Firestar, I will be taking her place." Blackstar looked surprised and said, "You actually mated Mistystar? I thought no one would be able to make her fall in love."
Firestar chuckled and joked, "I have that effect on She-Cats, Reedwhisker. Anyhow! Remember, I'd like the Leaders and Medicine Cats to join me at the Island tonight. Meeting dismissed!" Firestar leapt from Highledge. Hollyleaf walked over to him and said, "Well. While everyone was off defending Shadowclan, Squirrelflight gave birth to two beautiful she-cats. Both, a perfect blend of Bramblestar's and Squirrelflight's colors and markings. Squirrelflight has named them Rosekit and Cedarkit." Firestar beamed and said, "That's good. Unfortunate about her miscarriage the first time. I am glad everything worked out this time."
Firestar walked towards the Nursery. He was greeted warmly by Windstream. She said, "Squirrelflight did well for her first kitting. Let her rest, Love. How can I help you?" Firestar replied, "Nothing. Just wanted to check on Squirrelflight. Do you need anything, Love?" Windstream opened her mouth to say something when Firestar was tackled by Flowerkit. The two rolled on the ground and Flowerkit ended up on top. She giggled gleefully and exclaimed, "I have bested the best Warrior in the Forest! I win!" Firestar laughed and said, "Oh no! I have been bested! Starclan have mercy on my soul! Accept me into Starclan!" He feigned death.
Flowerkit giggled. Firestar laughed and said, "Alright. Let me up." Flowerkit said, "No. I am the best Warrior in the lands!" Firestar shook his head and said, "Come on dear. Let your father up." Flowerkit got off of Firestar and he kipped to his paws. Flowerkit's jaw dropped and she asked, "Can you teach me how to do that?! Pretty please?! Please dad! That looked really cool!" Firestar replied, "I don't know. It's very dangerous because if you do it wrong, you could get seriously hurt. Tell you what." Flowerkit listened intently as her father spoke. Firestar continued, "If Bramblestar allows you to become my apprentice when you're six moons old, I will teach you how to do it. I promise." Flowerkit's eyes widened in happiness and she asked, "You promise?!" Firestar nodded and said, "I promise." Flowerkit jumped with glee and Firestar purred in amusement.
Firestar said, "I can talk to Bramblestar to see if he'd allow it." Flowerkit asked, "Can't you just make him do it by saying that it's an order?" Firestar replied, "I could, but that would be called abusing my power as Leader. And another reason why I won't, is because Code 13 is flawed, as is most of the Warrior Code. Which is why The Warrior Code will be being replaced and changed tonight." Flowerkit's eyes went wide in disbelief as she said, "B-But the Warrior Code has been a major part of the clans since they existed, dad! Why are you trying to change it?" Firestar answered, "The reason for that is because times are changing my dear. The clans are no longer separated. And when my time does come, hopefully, the new Warrior Code will allow the clans to live in harmony because I will not be able to keep the peace anymore. But, that is a long way away before I go to hunt with Starclan." Firestar thought to himself, 'I hope at least.' Flowerkit looked at her father and said, "Alright dad. But do not leave me sooner than necessary okay? Keep yourself safe out there for me alright?"
Firestar smiled and said, "Of course dear. Now. Are you hungry?" Flowerkit shook her head no and said, "I ate a little before you came back and gave Seedwhisker her Warrior name. Thank you for asking however." Firestar nodded his understanding and asked, "Windstream. You hungry, my love?" Windstream replied, "I could go for a large water vole right about now." Firestar looked around and joked as it was still raining, "Shouldn't be a problem love. Just gotta learn how to breathe underwater. This rain just won't let up." Windstream purred in amusement and thought to him, 'Wouldn't be a bad idea for next time. See who can hold their breath the longest as you rail me. Make me choke in two ways. Sounds like a blast.' Firestar coughed and said, "Damn. Just. Damn." Flowerkit asked, "Are you okay father?" Firestar replied, "Y-Yeah. Just. Intrusive thoughts from your mother." Flowerkit looked curious and Firestar said, "Don't pry. Trust me. You don't wanna know." Flowerkit didn't pry and Firestar thanked Starclan silently.
Firestar looked around and heard Jayfeather say, "Firestar! Remember the vision I had about a drought?" Firestar padded over to the Medicine Den and replied, "Yeah." Jayfeather said, "I misinterpreted it. There's going to be a flood!" Firestar looked around and said, "Gee. You don't say? No shit Sherlock!" Jayfeather grumbled, "Oh bite me!" Firestar laughed and said, "Didn't have to treat any serious injuries today, right?" Jayfeather answered, "Thankfully no. Mainly pretty minor stuff. But then again. You did snap and go completely feral for a little bit." Firestar said, "Yeah. Yeah. Olivenose is the one you heard. I didn't think about that. It was a serious oversight on my part. Should've known I loved her too.'
Jayfeather said, "Yeah. You should've. Dumbass bitch." Firestar laughed and asked, "And how are things between you and Hollyleaf?" Jayfeather blushed lightly and said, "Wonderful. We were going to mate tonight, but someone is deciding the change the fucking Warrior and Medicine Cat Code tonight like an asshole." Firestar laughed and said, "You know damn well you're excited for it. You won't be breaking the Medicine Cat Code anymore." Jayfeather grumbled and Lionstar, Dovewing, Ivypool, Honeypaw, Silverstream, and Spottedleaf walked over to Firestar. Lionstar asked, "We all heard your roar, Love. The fuck happened?" Firestar looked at them and looked down. Dovewing made him gently look at them and she insisted, "What happened, Love?" Firestar's eyes teared up and he wiped his tears away swiftly with his tail. He said, "I snapped. Olivenose got hurt and her yowl of pain pierced my eardrums. I became a feral mess. I eviscerated, dismembered, and completely obliterated our enemies. I even completely blew up Sol's skull with my paws. I…I just snapped. Unlike any time I have snapped before. Ask Olivenose."
The she-cats looked at Olivenose and she said slowly, "Yeah. I watched him do it. He beat Sol's face in for several minutes, even though it felt like eternity until he finally ended Sol's suffering with a… whatever the fuck it is Firestar does." Firestar replied weakly, "Just. Call it a punch, Love." Olivenose continued, "He ended Sol's suffering with a punch unlike any I have seen him throw. It completely blew up Sol's skull, sending brain matter, skull, and blood everywhere, coating Firestar's head and chest. It was an insane feat of strength. It was also terrifying to witness, but we all know he will never do that unless someone deserves it, like Sol did." Lionstar said, "That… Makes a whole lot of sense actually. None of us are afraid of you, Firestar. You did what you had too."
Firestar looked at the she-cats and said, "Fair enough. Fair enough. Now. I need to start getting ready for the meeting with the Leaders and Medicine Cats. It's time I changed the Warrior Code. And prepare everyone for the final assault. We will all train. Except Silverstream, Splashfur, Honeypaw, Windstream, and obviously Mistystar." Honeypaw opened her mouth to argue, but Firestar interrupted her, "No if's, and's, or but's! Mistystar and Windstream are Queens. And you three are pregnant! So I do not want to hear it! If I had it my way, all of you would stay out of combat, strictly because of what happened to Olivenose that made me snap." The she-cats closed their mouths, understanding Firestar's concern. Firestar looked at Splashfur, Silverstream, and Honeypaw. He said, "Y'all are quite plump. You should start moving into the Nursery." Honeypaw said, "Yeah. We probably should."
Firestar looked around and saw Hollyleaf making patrols. He padded over to her and said, "I want myself and Bramblestar free of patrols. We need to prepare for the journey." Hollyleaf said, "Of course! Anything else?" Firestar shook his head no and padded to his Leader's Den to rest, ignoring the hunger pangs he felt. He closed his eyes and slept.
Firestar woke up near sundown. He stretched and walked out of his den. Dovewing greeted him. He looked confused. Dovewing said, "We let you sleep in. You had a rough day. You'll make it before the sun sets anyway. Also, the Elders' and Kits' have eaten already. As has everyone else." Firestar chuckled and walked over to Dovewing. He kissed her gently, taking her by surprise, but she kissed back. Firestar smiled and walked over to the fresh-kill pile. He grabbed a plump mouse and finished it swiftly.
He said over his shoulder as his hind legs bunched in anticipation, "I will be back by Sunrise." Firestar walked towards the entrance. Seedwhisker dipped her head in respect. Firestar said, "Cover your eyes, Seedwhisker. Dovewing, tell her when it's good to open her eyes." Dovewing watched Firestar shoot forwards, dust and sand kicking up everywhere. Dovewing shook her head, and after a few seconds, she said, "You're good to open your eyes, Seedwhisker."
Firestar dodged between obstacles with ease, everything a blur and moving from the force of the wind hitting them. Firestar knew the Island was fast approaching. He slowed to a walk and looked up. Firestar was hit with a vision.
Firestar saw the six moons again signifying the four clans, Lionclan, and Tigerstar's army. The moons signifying the clans were all ablaze with white fire as the moons . The moon's signifying the four clans dripped blood. Tigerstar's army shot towards Thunderclan's moon swiftly, only to crack upon impact. Lionclan's moon shot towards Tigerstar's moon and it completely blew up Tigerstar's moon.
The vision faded and Firestar looked around. He said, "Good. That means we will defeat Tigerstar's army. Then I can have Midnight return to the Sun-Drown place safely. Which will also mean I can search for Tigerstar's body. I know where to look. Somewhere in the Old Forest. I can finally end this horror after next month! However, the dripping blood from the moons scares me. Worst thing it can mean is that some cats will be joining Starclan. Starclan, protect us." Firestar walked to the lake's edge and dove in. He swam strongly towards the Island.
Firestar arrived at the Island just as the sun was about to drop below the horizon. He walked onto the Island, and was greeted warmly by everyone there. Firestar said, "We will wait until the moon begins to rise before we start this meeting." Reedwhisker asked, "Just curious. Why did you ask for the medicine cats and Clan leaders to meet you here, Firestar?" Firestar smiled and said, "Glad you asked. We will be changing the Warrior and Medicine Cat Codes. We will also be talking about what we should do for the final preparation to defend Thunderclan." No one seemed surprised about the announcement.
As the Moon began to rise Firestar said, "Alright! We need to agree unanimously to change a code. Code one is fine for the most part. However, one can't help what the heart wants. If one does fall for a cat outside of their clan and have kits, they are granted immunity from fighting their mate and kits if a fight between the clans happens. All in favor of the change?" Everyone around him raised their paw. Firestar said, "Good. That code is now officially changed. Next, code I'd like to change is Code five." Gasps of disbelief were heard and Firestar said, "I'd like to up the age. Not decrease it." Bramblestar asked, "Increase by how many moons?" Firestar replied, "I was thinking a moon or two. All in favor." Only Bramblestar raised his paw and Firestar looked around and said, "Alright. Code five will remain the same."
Firestar looked around and said to the Medicine Cats, "Don't worry. We will get to the Medicine Cat Code soon. Now. Code twelve and thirteen. For code twelve, it's mostly alright. However, I would like to add something to it." Spottedleaf asked, "And what might that be?" Firestar smiled and said, "Good question dear. I want to add something to it that makes it so the cat or cats that help a kit from another clan don't fear a consequence. Something that grants them protection from retaliation. It has not happened yet as far as I know, but at some point; I feel like someone will attempt to retaliate. So. Code twelve will protect from retaliation. All in favor." Every cat around him raised their paw. Firestar said, "Alright. Code twelve now protects from retaliation. Now. Code Thirteen. The one that every leader here has abused, myself included. The word of the Clan Leader is Warrior Code, however, if a Warrior has plausible reason to believe that the order is unorthodox, unethical, or makes no sense, a Warrior can choose to deny that order without fear of consequences. Sound good?"
Firestar asked, "Any other changes that need to be made?" No one raised their paw. Firestar said, "Now. Onto the Medicine Cat Code. We will be making only one change to it I hope." Firestar took a breath and said, "First code is going to be completely destroyed and replaced. Code One: A Medicine Cat may have kits and a mate, but they must teach some Warriors basic Medicine Cat stuff so after a battle, minor injuries don't need to be tended by Medicine Cats as they would want to get to their mates or kits. But a Medicine Cat must tend to the worst injuries first, no matter what. That fair?" No one objected and Firestar said, "Good. Now. Onto something else that is also important. Time to talk preparation. The final push will be against Thunderclan. All four animals of Tigerstar's army will be attacking. We have seen three of them. The last animal is Badgers." Gasp of disbelief echoed through the group and Firestar said, "I know. But we will be fine. I'll make sure of it." Firestar thought to himself, 'I can't tell them that cats will die. They don't need to freak out more than they already are.' Firestar smiled and said, "Alright. Ideas?"
