Before he went to bed that night Richard replayed the events of his day through his head.
"What do you mean, your going to live with those savages" his dad had yelled.
Princess had just looked sad, that he was leaving her when he promised he'd see her again she burst out crying. Richard had rolled his eyes.
Richard had told Samuel the news over phone and Samuel got even more upset than Princess, Richard could hear his sniffles through the phone.
"I promise I'll visit you" Richard had promised.
Samuel didn't believe him.
Now Richard had a broken-hearted sister and a betrayed friend.
Richard sighed and rolled under the covers, all that was a problem for future Richard.
...
As Richard slept he had his deer-dream again but this time he caught the deer.
Everything was going great until he was about to take a bite out of the venison.
His dream turned to bad as images of Samuel old and wrinkly all alone.
Then Princess repeatedly going into the woods wailing for him while he wouldn't come.
Richard woke up with a start and realized the most horrible thing in the world.
He was future Richard.
Richard ate his last meal with his family, with Princess ignoring him and his dad muttering and grumbling.
Then he went into the woods.
Soon enough he found Lionheart and another person waiting for him, both of then all-decked out in weaponry and gear.
Lionheart didn't spare Richard a glance but the other person gave him a warm smile.
"I'm sure you've met Lionheart and my name is Whitestorm"
Lionheart grumbled something and Whitestorm affectionately rolled his eyes.
Then Whitestorm whispered to Richard "don't mind him he's just a big fluffy mouse once you get through to him"
Lionheart huffed and turned to run, Whitestorm followed him, chuckling.
They ran until they got to a stream, Whitestorm and Lionheart splashed right through with their metal boots.
But Richard was wearing his leather sneakers and hated water.
As Whitestorm raced ahead Lionheart stopped "are you coming?"
Richard prepared himself, eager to prove himself to Lionheart, and jumped over the stream-
and landed on top of Lionheart.
Richard scrambled off and raced to catch up with Whitestorm and left Lionheart groaning in the mud.
Whitestorm kept running until he reached a hole in a bunch of bushes.
Whitestorm stopped but Richard kept walking.
Next thing he knew he was hopping around clutching his knee in pain.
Whitestorm chuckled some more and burst into full out laughter when he saw Lionheart trudging though the woods covered in mud and twigs and missing a boot.
Lionheart and Richard just rolled our eyes at that man.
Finally once Whitestorm regained his breath he started explaining "the hole in the bush is quite obvious so we put traps sharp swords shoot out of the ground if your not part if Thunderkingdom and you take ine stepminside our camp."
Richard wasn't listening.
Next think he knew he was hobbling around clutching his already wounded shoulder in pain.
Now it was Whitestorm's turn to roll his eyes at Richard.
Somehow they got into the camp and Richard gazed around in awe.
some people were walking in and out of a giant building, some people were sitting on a bench and eating, some people were playing what looked like tag and some people were just brushing one another's hair.
Richard gaped in awe, Whitestorm nudged Richard "it's not always this calm and peaceful if that's what your worrying about."
Lionheart nudged his friend, and Richard noticed that the people- that looked around his age- who were playing tag sufdenly stopped to stare at him.
"Richard!" Richard heard a familliar voice yowl.
Richard noticed Gray among the cluster of kids who were playing tag.
Gray ran to Lionheart and tackled him to the ground in a giant bear hug, then he did the same to Richard.
Richard noticed Whitestorm, Lionheart and Bluestar talking near the castle.
Then Bluestar nodded and Lionheart beckoned Gray over to him with his hand.
Bluestar walked to the middle of the clearing and junped onto a rock then she planted her sword into the rock with so much strength, Richard thought the rock was going to split in half.
Then Bluestar yowled "Everyone gather to me for a meeting!"
Everyone slowly shimmied their way over to Bluestar.
Once everyone was still Bluestar started "Thunderkingdom is in desperate need of more knights, so I have arranged for an outsider to join the kingdo-"
before she finished her sentence everyone started boo-ing.
Bluestar clenched her hand into a fist and stabbed her sword even deeper into the stone causing it to make a sound like a knife scraping against a knife.
"Silence!" She commanded.
Everyone hushed up.
But before she could say anything more somebody burst out "look at him he's a tame-creature!!"
Richard turned the noise and saw a man with long blond hair holding a small knife in his hand.
Richard had a hard time not talking when he wasn't supposed too in school he couldn't sit still and he always forgot to raise his hand but right now he was glad he didn't have the type of cell needed to stop words coming out.
"I'm not a tame-creature" he yelled
the man sneered "oh, yeah then prove it!" Richard didn't need permission he grabbed the nearest person's weapon-which happened to be a sword- and jumped at the man.
Everbody backed up for the tussling pair, Richard didn't know how to fight but he ended up landing a good blow on the man's ear.
Suddenly he felt pressure on his neck and realized the man was trying to choke him!
He was pulling his short collar, and Richard started seeing stars when-
Rip! Went his shirt,and-
Half Naked! Went Richard.
Richard didn't mind though because he was too busy panting and glaring and the man.
Suddenly Bluestar jumped down from her perch and landed square on the man.
Bluestar hissed in his ear "since when do we fight untrained children, Longtail?"
Longtail's face went red, Bluestar got off him "exactly"
then Bluestar walked over to me. "This child has proven that he us worthy to be part of the kingdom!" She said lifting up my hand like you would do a wrestling champion person.
Then she whispered to me "you fight like a flash of fire, Richard" then she raised her voice "from now on this chikd will be known as Fire"
Fire, Fire!
Then Bluestar chuckled "now go put some clothes on."
Fire blushed realizing he was half-naked.

As Fire was sitting in a bed as Spottedleaf wrapped his many wounds, Richard couldn't help but notice how Spottedleaf kept looking at him.
Of course Fire was looking at Spottedleaf too but he wasn't as obvious about it, Spottedleaf had only caught him 27 times.
The castle was divided into sections the on queen's or king's room was at the top of the classroom but they could sleep wherever they wanted.
The castle was pretty neat and big, Spottedleaf's healer hut was on the first floor which was good because who wants to walk 20 miles get to their medicine.
Fire told Spottedleaf all this.
Spottedleaf also was chatty she had been talking since Fire got in here and when Fire accudentally interrupted her they both smiled warmly at each other.
After they were done Spottedleaf took Fire's hand and said "come on I'll show you where the cloaks are"
Spottedleaf showed Fire all the different cloaks.
Spottedleaf chose a bright orange one and said "this one suits you."
Fire thanked Spottedleaf, and Spottedleaf told Fire how good-looking he was then dhe covered her mouth but it was too late.
Fire blushed and ran out of the castle as fast as he could.
Fire ran into Gray on his way out.
Gray, who was holding a bunch of wet towels, fell over and the wet towels fell onto Lionheart, who was walking behind Gray.
Gray and Fire winced, but before Lionheart could reprimand them Gray grabbed Fire's hand and lead him back into the castle.
"Fire, Bluestar told me to help you choose a weapon" Gray said as we walked down the castle hallway.
Gray seemed to know the castle like the back of hus hand he twisted and turned until the boys came too-
"the room" Gray said
"usually your teacher is supposed to assess you sometime after your apprentice ceremony, so you haven't benn taught any skills
and then they watch you for a day and get to know your personality and then they choose a weapon for you"
"mine, is a sword" Gray said "but your lucky, you get to choose your weapon"
Fire's hand instantly went towards the sword but then he stopped.
What weapon truly describes me.
Fire took the brass knuckles and put them on, they felt good and natural.
"these ones." He said "really? I thought for sure you were going to pick the sword"
Fire shrugged "change of heart."
As they were walking out of the castle Fire saw a pale boy with leather black hair panting at the entrance of the camp.
Bluestar was already on the case "what's wrong Raven? What happened"
Raven gasped "Redtail, Redtail deputy if Thunderkingdom is dead!"
