Continuing the Treasure Hunt
The next morning, Lincoln, his sisters that were in Paldea, Nemona, Arven, and Penny were in the academy cafeteria, having breakfast.
"So what are we going to do today?" asked Lynn.
"I think we should continue the Treasure Hunt." said Lincoln.
"What do you want to do first for that?" asked Nemona.
"I figure I should return Iono's jacket to her." said Lincoln. "And since we'll be near the area where the Lurking Steel Titan is, we can try getting another Herba Mystica."
"I, totes, love that idea." said Leni.
"I really want to help Mabosstiff." said Arven.
"We all do." said Clyde.
"And after that, we can go to the Team Star base in an area close to where the Titan is." said Lincoln.
"That would be good." said Penny with a smile.
"I wanna help with that." said Lynn. "That Star Barrage thing sounded awesome."
"What about the Paldea League, Lincoln?" asked Nemona.
"I'm trying to figure out what gym to challenge next." said Lincoln.
"If you're going from weakest one to strongest, then your next stop would be Cascarrafa." said Nemona.
"Then that's my next stop after we take care of the Herba Mystica and Team Star base." said Lincoln.
"Sounds like we got a plan." said Arven.
"I hope to see some new ghost Pokemon." said Lucy.
"Or other Pokemon that would be interesting to you." said Clyde.
"We should also train up our Pokemon to be ready for the upcoming challenges." said Penny.
"Yeah, that's a good idea." said Lynn. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone.
"What are you up to, Clyde?" asked Lincoln.
"I've been thinking about you giving Okidogi a chance of redemption; I'm going to do the same for Munkidori." said Clyde.
"That's nice of you, Clyde." said Penny, blushing. Clyde uses his Rotom Phone to exchange his Naclstack for Munkidori.
"I'm gonna swap my Finizen for the Eevee I caught a few days ago." said Lincoln.
"What are you going to do with her?" asked Clyde.
"There's an Eevee evolution that I know that Lola's pageant friends will really like." said Lincoln. "I'll bet when Lola sees it, she'll want one herself." He then uses his Rotom Phone to swap his Finizen for his Eevee.
"Let's hurry and finish eating so we can get started." said Lana. Once the group finishes breakfast, and Lincoln and Clyde are put through an intense workout courtesy of Ms. Dendra and Lynn, the group exits the academy and start making their way to Mesagoza's east gate.
Along the way, Lincoln stops by the local dry cleaner and picks up Iono's jacket; they also stop by Delibird Presents to get stuff for their Pokemon.
Lincoln decides to grab a Mystic Water for his Finizen.
Clyde grabs a Charcoal for his Pyroar, and a Miracle Seed for his Torterra.
Leni gets a Charcoal for her Vulpix, a Miracle Seed for her Smoliv, a Silk Scarf for her Eevee, and a Mystic Water for her Finneon.
Lynn grabs a Punching Glove for her Crabrawler, and Muscle Bands for her Zangoose and Heracross.
Lucy buys a Miracle Seed for her Phantump.
Lana buys a Charcoal for her Salandit, and a Mystic Water for her Barboach.
They also buy food supplies for their journey, with Arven picking out the best ingredients.
Once all the shopping was done, they all leave Mesagoza and enter South Province Area Three.
Along the way, Lincoln trains up his Toxel and Eevee for a while, with both Pokemon getting stronger, as well as Eevee learning Baby-Doll Eyes. As they explored, they see a yellow humanoid Pokemon with a bulky body; it had a topknot on its head, black hands and bib-like design around its neck, and a red ring on each of its cheeks.
"What's that?" asked Lana as she points her Rotom Phone at the new Pokemon.
"Makuhita, the Guts Pokemon. It grows stronger by enduring harsh training. It is a gutsy Pokémon that can withstand any attack." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"Sounds like my kind of Pokemon." said Lynn as she takes out her Meditite's pokeball and lets him out of it, getting the Makuhita's attention.
"Since Meditite's part psychic type, he should have the advantage." said Nemona. Suddenly, the Makuhita moves at Meditite and claps its hands in front of his face, startling Meditite, and making him fall to the ground, hurting himself.
"That was Fake Out!" said Penny. The Makuhita follows up with a full-body tackle, doing a bit more damage.
"Don't take that from that chump, Meditite!" said Lynn. "Use Psybeam!" Her Meditite fires a beam of psychic energy from between his hands that hit the Makuhita, doing super effective damage to it; Makuhita responds by running at Meditite and doing multiple palm thrusts into his chest, not doing much damage.
"That was Arm Thrust." said Lincoln.
"Meditite, use Confusion!" said Lynn. Her Meditite's eyes glowed blue as a similar-colored aura covers Makuhita's body, and launches hit into a cliff wall, dealing super effective damage; it starts to stumble around dizzily.
"Looks like it's confused." said Arven. The Makuhita tries to charge at Meditite, but it accidentally runs into a large rock, hurting itself, and making it fall onto its back. Lynn takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throws it at the Makuhita, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Makuhita!" said Lynn. As her new Pokemon is sent to storage, she looks up its information on her Rotom Phone. "My Makuhita's a guy, he knows Tackle, Focus Energy, Sand Attack, Arm Thrust, and Fake Out; he has the Guts ability which makes him stronger if he has a status condition."
"Let's keep going." said Arven. "I really want to get to the next Herba Mystica."
"Totes." said Leni. She also trains up her Pokemon for a bit; her Ralts learned Teleport and Psybeam, her Smoliv learned Flail and Mega Drain, and her Finneon learned Attract.
The group continues onward through South Province Area Three until they all decide to stop for a lunch break.
While everyone ate, Coral's drone was continuing to monitor Lincoln's every move, with her watching with great interest from East Province Area Three on her Rotom Phone.
"He's so cute!" Coral says.
"Why are you so interested in that boy?" asked Sidian.
"Like I just said, he's cute." said Coral. "And I'm kind of interested in that Lycanroc of his."
"How come?" asked Sidian. As if by some coincidence, another voice was heard from Coral's Rotom Phone.
"Hey, aren't you that Lincoln Loud kid from Iono's Kitakami videos?" a teenage boy with blonde hair, black t-shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes says, getting the Louds, Nemona, Arven, and Penny's attention.
"Yeah, that's me." Lincoln replied.
"I wanna see how tough you really are." said the boy as he takes a pokeball off his waist.
"If you want a battle, then you got one!" Lincoln says with enthusiasm.
"Show this guy what you can do!" said Lynn. Lincoln nods in response as he takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Lycanroc; the boy reacts by tossing his pokeball, releasing a large, birdlike Pokemon with red-orange plumage on its head and wings, gray body with red-orange markings on it and under its wings, black wingtips and beak, and black tail feathers with yellow stripes on them.
"Whoa." said Lana. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Talonflame, the Scorching Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Fletchling. It has top-notch flying capabilities. It flies around easily, even while carrying prey that weighs more than 220 lbs." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
Sidian suddenly grabs Coral's Rotom Phone out of her hands.
"Hey!" shouts Coral. "What are you doing?!" Sidian inputs a command on the Rotom Phone, making power readings appear on Lycanroc and Talonflame.
"I want to see what the big deal is about that Lycanroc." said Sidian.
"I didn't know my Rotom Phone can do that." said Coral.
"Why am I not surprised?" asked Sidian. He looks at the power readings and doesn't see much of interest... yet.
Back at South Province Area Three, Lincoln and the trainer were about to begin their battle. Lincoln and Lycanroc both take a deep breath and close their eyes.
"What are you doing, buddy?" asked Clyde.
"Something Lycanroc and I have been practicing for a few days on our own." said Lincoln. As the others watched; to their surprise, a familiar white aura covers Lincoln and Lycanroc.
"It's that thing they did against Fezandipiti!" said Lana. The group watches as the fur on Lycanroc's head turned white, and his eyes turned blue.
Back with Sidian, his eyes actually widen as the power readings for Lycanroc were going crazy.
"Such power." Sidian said with astonishment in his voice.
"Told you that Lycanroc was interesting." said Coral.
Back at the battle, Lincoln's opponent was gawking at his Lycanroc before he snaps out of his stunned state.
"Don't think whatever it is you're doing will be enough to stop Talonflame!" said the boy. "Talonflame, use Flame Charge!" The boy's Talonflame flies at Lycanroc as its body becomes covered in fire.
"Lycanroc, counter it with Crush Claw!" said Lincoln as he curls his fingers in his right hand and thrusts it forward, making Lycanroc thrusts his right claw at the incoming Talonflame, hitting it, and knocking it to the ground; its body slumps a little.
"Looks like Crush Claw weakened Talonflame's defenses." said Nemona. A surge of energy rises up from Talonflame.
"Yeah, but Flame Charge gave my Talonflame a speed boost!" said the boy.
"Won't do much good with this move!" said Lincoln. "Lycanroc, use Accelerock!" His Lycanroc suddenly moves at Talonflame in the blink of an eye and slams into it, dealing super effective damage thanks to it being a combination of two types of Pokemon weak against rock type moves; the attack was so strong it sent the Talonflame flying into a cliff wall and falls to the ground, unconscious.
"That was fast." said the boy in shock. Lincoln takes a deep breath, and the white auras covering his and Lycanroc's body disappear, and Lycanroc's eye and head fur colors return to normal.
"Nice one, Lincoln!" said Lynn as she runs over to Lincoln, puts him in a headlock, and gives him a noogie.
"Thanks, Lynn." said Lincoln as he cringes from the slight pain caused by the noogie. After Lynn lets him go, the boy nervously walks over to Lincoln and gives him pokedollars.
"I'm gonna definitely have to be careful around you." said the boy before he returns his Talonflame to its pokeball and runs off to the nearest Pokemon Center.
"I hope I can battle against another trainer someday." said Lana.
"There are trainers everywhere." said Nemona. "Chances are you'll find one soon enough."
"You should train some more before challenging one." said Penny.
"Yeah!" said Lana.
Back with Coral and Sidian, the latter has been recording Lincoln's battle on Coral's Rotom Phone.
"You were right about the boy's Lycanroc, Coral." said Sidian.
"Have I ever been wrong?" asked Coral.
"Constantly." said Sidian.
"Whatever!" said Coral as she crosses her arms and looks away with a huff.
"I should show the data from the Lycanroc to Master Gibeon." said Sidian as she pockets Coral's Rotom Phone.
"That's mine!" shouts Coral.
"You'll get it back when I make my report." said Sidian.
"I better, or you're gonna get it!" said Coral. "And by 'it', I mean a fist to the stomach!"
"Is that supposed to frighten me?" asked Sidian, making Coral pout.
Back with the group, Lincoln was returning his Lycanroc to his pokeball.
"That was amazing, Lincoln." said Nemona as she hugs Lincoln and nuzzles his cheek.
"What is that weird white glowy thingy you did?" asked Leni.
"When I'm in that state, I can see and feel everything that Lycanroc does." said Lincoln.
"Even when he gets hurt?" asked Leni with concern.
"Yeah." said Lincoln as he rubs his side as he remembers Coral's Glalie hitting Lycanroc during their first battle.
"Maybe you shouldn't do that if you could get hurt, Lincoln." said Lucy.
"I'll only use it as a last resort." said Lincoln.
"You'd better." said Nemona in a firm voice. "I don't want anything bad to happen to you before we meet at the Paldea League."
"Don't worry, we'll be battling there soon enough." said Lincoln with a grin, making Nemona smile before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush.
"Cut the mushy stuff you lovebirds." said Lynn, making Nemona and Lincoln blush.
"Yeah, let's get going!" said Lana as she starts running off.
"Better hurry after her." said Clyde as he runs off after Lincoln's mud-loving sister, prompting everyone else to do the same.
