AN: Hey everyone, I'm back. Life is crazy but I'm up at 4 am writing because do what you love. Enjoy!
Start Naruto waited as the Chunin at the mission desk continued to sift through the scrolls, his eyes narrowing in thought. The air in the mission room was thick with the scent of parchment and ink, a familiar blend that usually brought him a sense of purpose. Today, however, it only fueled his impatience.
Finally, the Chunin found what he was looking for. "Ah, here we go," he said, pulling out a scroll and unrolling it. "There's a Genin team out on a mission—Team 8. They're trying to track down some escaped prisoners from a transport that was ambushed. It's a C-rank mission, but with how slippery these prisoners are, it might need a more experienced hand."
Naruto's heart rate quickened at the prospect of action. He'd worked with Team 8 before—they were reliable, and it wouldn't be too much trouble helping them out. Plus, Hinata, Kiba, and Shino were all capable shinobi, so it would be more than just a simple babysitting task.
"I'll take it," Naruto said without hesitation. "Where are they now?"
"They've been tracking the prisoners near the western edge of the village, close to the forest line. They could probably use some backup."
Naruto nodded and took the scroll, giving a quick thanks before turning on his heel and heading out of the room. His footsteps were quicker, his sense of purpose rekindled. It wasn't the most dangerous mission, but it was something. And something was better than nothing.

Meanwhile, deeper in the heart of Konoha, the Sound Four moved with a silent precision that bordered on the inhuman. Their infiltration had gone unnoticed by even the sharpest of ANBU operatives, a testament to their skill and Orochimaru's training. Each of them carried a distinct aura of lethal intent, and their eyes, focused and cold, were locked onto a singular target: Sasuke Uchiha.
They had tracked him down to one of the village's training grounds, a secluded area where Sasuke often trained alone. The air around them was thick with tension, each of the Sound Four ready to strike at a moment's notice. But as they approached, they felt a shift in the atmosphere, a pressure that hadn't been there before.
Sakon, ever the tactician, held up a hand, signaling the group to stop. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the area, taking in the faint traces of chakra in the air. "He's here," Sakon muttered, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "But something's different."
The others sensed it too—Sasuke's chakra was stronger, more refined than when they last encountered him. It pulsed through the air like a living thing, coiled tight and ready to strike. There was a darkness to it, a sharp edge that hadn't been there before.
From the shadows, Sasuke stepped into view, his Sharingan eyes blazing with intensity. His expression was calm, almost cold, but the power radiating from him was palpable. He had grown, not just in skill but in sheer presence. He was no longer the same boy they had faced months ago.
"You've come for me again," Sasuke said, his voice cutting through the air like a blade. There was no fear in his tone, only a deadly certainty. "But this time, you won't find me so easy to manipulate."
Tayuya scoffed, her fingers brushing against the flute at her side. "Big words, Uchiha. Let's see if you can back them up."
Kidomaru's six arms flexed, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Careful, Tayuya. He's different now. I can feel it. This'll be fun."
Jirobo grinned, cracking his knuckles as he prepared for a fight. "Let's crush him and drag him back to Orochimaru-sama."
But Sakon wasn't so quick to act. He studied Sasuke, weighing the odds, calculating the risks. He could see the changes in the boy—his stance, the way he carried himself, the lethal precision in his gaze. This wasn't the same Sasuke who had nearly given in to the curse mark's temptation. This was someone who had embraced his power, honed it, and turned it into something far more dangerous.
"You think you can take us all on, Sasuke?" Sakon asked, his voice a low rumble, barely above a whisper. "You're strong, but you're not invincible."
Sasuke didn't respond with words. Instead, he activated his Sharingan fully, the tomoe spinning rapidly in his eyes as he unleashed a burst of chakra that shook the ground beneath him. The air crackled with raw energy, and for a brief moment, the Sound Four hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty passing between them.
Sasuke stood in the midst of the battlefield, the remnants of his previous skirmishes littered around him. His Sharingan eyes glowed with an intense, almost feral light as he took in the scene before him. The Sound Four were regrouping, their forms tense and radiating a deadly aura. Despite the damage he'd inflicted, they were far from defeated, and Sasuke could sense something ominous brewing beneath the surface.
His breath came in short, ragged bursts, but he kept his composure, determined not to show any sign of weakness. He'd already taken them down once; he could do it again. But as he locked eyes with Sakon, he noticed a shift in their demeanor. This wasn't over. Far from it.
Sakon wiped a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth, his expression hardening. "You're strong, Uchiha, I'll give you that. But if you think you've beaten us, you're dead wrong."
Tayuya, her voice dripping with malice, added, "You're about to see what real power looks like, you little shit."
Jirobo's face twisted in anger, his massive frame shaking with barely contained fury. "No more games."
Kidomaru, ever the strategist, smirked as he took his place beside the others. "Let's show him what Orochimaru-sama gave us."
Without warning, they activated their curse marks, and Sasuke's eyes widened as dark chakra began to pour out of them, twisting and warping their bodies. The marks on their skin spread like wildfire, transforming them into something monstrous. The air grew heavy with the oppressive weight of their power, and Sasuke felt his heart rate spike. This was beyond anything he'd expected.
Sakon and Ukon's skin turned a sickly gray as their bodies merged more completely, becoming a deadly hybrid of speed and strength. Bone-like spikes jutted out from their limbs, and their eyes glowed with a terrifying intensity.
Tayuya's transformation was equally unsettling. Her skin darkened to a deep maroon, and horns sprouted from her forehead. Her eyes were filled with a malevolent energy, and the air around her seemed to crackle with dark chakra.
Kidomaru's form grew bulkier, his skin taking on a golden sheen as it hardened into a near-impenetrable armor. His six arms twitched with anticipation, each one bristling with newfound strength, while his face elongated into something more spider-like, his eyes glittering with predatory intent.
Jirobo's transformation was the most extreme. His body swelled with muscle, turning a deep crimson as he towered over Sasuke. His eyes became hollow, pits of blackness that seemed to consume all light, and the earth itself trembled beneath his feet.
Sasuke clenched his fists, trying to suppress the surge of frustration rising within him. They had become something far more powerful, and despite his earlier victories, he could feel the balance of power shifting away from him. "I've trained so hard… I thought I was ready… But this…"
Sakon's voice broke through his thoughts, cold and mocking. "You've been outmatched from the start, Uchiha. Orochimaru-sama gave us power that you can't even comprehend."
In a flash, Sakon and Ukon moved, their combined speed now nearly impossible to track. Sasuke barely had time to react as they appeared before him, their fists slamming into his chest with the force of a hammer. The impact sent Sasuke hurtling through the air, crashing into the ground with a sickening thud. Pain radiated through his body, and for a moment, his vision swam.
As Sasuke struggled to get back on his feet, Tayuya was already moving. Her hands flew through a series of seals, and she brought her flute to her lips. "Demonic Flute: Phantom Sound Chains!" The melody that followed was dark and twisted, wrapping around Sasuke like a vice. He could feel the genjutsu clawing at his mind, warping his senses, distorting reality.
"No… I won't be controlled!" Sasuke growled, forcing chakra into his system to break the genjutsu. But the curse mark's power was amplifying Tayuya's technique, making it almost impossible to dispel. His surroundings blurred, and he saw twisted, nightmarish figures closing in on him, their grotesque forms pulling him deeper into the illusion.
Panic welled up inside him. "I can't break free… not like this…" His mind raced, fighting against the dark chakra that threatened to overwhelm him.
With a final, desperate push of chakra, Sasuke shattered the genjutsu, but the effort left him momentarily disoriented. And that moment was all Kidomaru needed.
"Web Barrage!" Kidomaru's voice rang out as his six arms unleashed a torrent of webbing. The sticky threads wrapped around Sasuke's limbs, binding him tightly before he could react. "Got you now!"
Sasuke tried to cut through the webbing with his Chidori, but before he could, Jirobo's massive form loomed over him. The brute grabbed Sasuke by the shoulders, his grip like iron. With a roar, Jirobo lifted Sasuke into the air and slammed him into the ground with bone-shattering force. The earth beneath them cracked, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air.
Pain exploded through Sasuke's body, his vision dimming as he struggled to breathe. Every bone, every muscle screamed in agony. "This can't be happening… I can't lose… not like this…"
Jirobo's voice was a deep, rumbling growl as he leaned in, his breath hot and foul against Sasuke's face. "You feel that, Uchiha? That's real power."
Sasuke's mind raced, searching for a way out, but the dark chakra surrounding him was suffocating, drowning out his own power. He could feel his strength slipping away, the fight draining from him with every second.
Sakon and Ukon appeared beside him, their combined form a grotesque mockery of human and beast. "You were never strong enough, Sasuke," Sakon said, his voice dripping with disdain. "You just didn't realize it until now."
They unleashed a barrage of blows, each strike landing with devastating precision. Sasuke tried to block, but his movements were sluggish, his body too battered to keep up. Every hit sent shockwaves of pain through him, driving him further into the ground, his mind reeling from the sheer brutality.
"I'm… not strong enough…" The thought echoed in Sasuke's mind, his anger and frustration boiling over. "I thought I was ready… I thought I could…"
Tayuya circled him like a predator, her flute still playing that twisted melody. "You're just a weak little boy pretending to be strong, Sasuke," she taunted, her voice cutting through the haze of pain. "You're nothing compared to us."
Sasuke's vision blurred, his blood boiling with rage. "Shut up!" he roared, forcing his battered body to move. He lunged at her, his Sharingan blazing, but Tayuya easily sidestepped his attack, her laughter echoing in his ears.
"You're always going to be a step behind, Sasuke. Always."
Above, Kidomaru had already prepared his next attack. With all six arms, he drew back, a massive spear made of hardened webbing in his grip. "This ends now!" He hurled the spear with deadly accuracy, aiming directly at Sasuke's heart.
Sasuke managed to twist away, but the spear still grazed his side, tearing through flesh and muscle. He cried out in pain, staggering back as blood poured from the wound. His vision wavered, the edges of his world darkening as his body threatened to give out.
"Damn it… why am I still not strong enough?!" Sasuke's mind screamed in frustration. He could feel the curse mark on his neck pulsing, its dark energy tempting him, urging him to draw on its power. He knew what it would mean—what it would cost. But the alternative…
"No… I can't… I won't…" But his resolve was crumbling. The Sound Four were closing in, their victory all but assured, and Sasuke was running out of time, out of options.
The curse mark's voice whispered in his mind, promising him the power he needed, the strength to overcome. "Give in… you'll be strong enough…"
Sasuke's gaze flickered to the mark on his neck, his thoughts in turmoil. The dark energy throbbed beneath his skin, beckoning him, promising him the strength to win. But he knew the price. He knew what it would mean to rely on that power.
The Sound Four advanced, their combined chakra a suffocating force that pressed down on Sasuke from all sides. He could feel his consciousness slipping, the pain dragging him under. "Am I really… this weak?" The thought cut through him like a blade, his last vestige of hope slipping away.
The final blow came, and Sasuke's world faded into darkness, his last thought echoing in the void. "I need more power…"

Naruto arrived at the designated meeting spot for Team 8's mission with a sense of purpose in his stride. The sun was already high in the sky, casting long shadows across the bustling streets of Konoha. Despite the activity around him, Naruto's mind was sharp and focused on the mission ahead. As a newly promoted Chunin, he had grown both in strength and tactical prowess, earning the respect of his peers and superiors alike. His confidence was well-earned; he had proven himself time and again, and today would be no different.
As he approached the edge of the village, Naruto spotted the familiar figures of Team 8 waiting for him. Hinata, Kiba, and Shino were gathered near a small clearing, discussing their strategy. Akamaru, Kiba's loyal companion, was sniffing the ground, his ears twitching as he picked up on the scents around them.
Kiba noticed Naruto approaching and waved him over with a grin. "Naruto! Just in time. We were about to head out."
Naruto nodded, his expression serious but friendly. "Glad I caught up with you. What's the situation?"
Shino, ever the strategist, adjusted his glasses as he spoke. "We've been assigned to track down a group of escaped prisoners. They managed to slip away during a transport, and they're believed to be hiding in the forest just outside the village. They're skilled and dangerous, which is why we were called in."
Hinata stepped forward, her Byakugan already active, scanning the area for any signs of movement. "We're glad you're here, Naruto-kun. This mission could be tricky, and with your skills, we'll have a better chance of success."
Naruto offered her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Hinata. We'll handle this. I've been working on some new tactics that should help us corner them before they even realize we're there."
Kiba's grin widened at Naruto's words. "Tactics, huh? I'm interested to see what you've come up with. Akamaru's already got their scent, so we've got a good lead."
Naruto nodded, quickly assessing the information they had. "Alright, let's keep this simple but effective. Shino, you'll use your insects to create a perimeter around the area where we think they might be hiding. If they try to slip through, your insects will detect them immediately."
Shino nodded, his mind already calculating the best deployment strategy. "Understood. I'll have the area covered in no time."
"Hinata," Naruto continued, "you'll be our eyes. Use your Byakugan to scout ahead and keep track of their movements. If they try to split up or ambush us, we'll know ahead of time."
Hinata blushed slightly at Naruto's praise but nodded firmly. "I'll do my best, Naruto-kun."
"Kiba, you and Akamaru will be the vanguard. I'll follow close behind. If we need to engage, I'll provide backup and make sure none of them get away."
Kiba smirked, clearly liking the plan. "Sounds good. Let's go teach these guys a lesson."
With the plan in place, Team 8, now joined by Naruto, set off toward the forest. Akamaru led the way, his nose to the ground, guiding them toward the scent trail he had picked up earlier. As they moved deeper into the forest, the sounds of the village faded, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the occasional call of a bird.
Naruto remained vigilant, his senses on high alert. As they moved through the dense undergrowth, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at how far he had come. No longer the impulsive, hot-headed genin, Naruto had grown into a capable and strategic shinobi, his strength rivaling that of many seasoned Jounin. This mission was just another opportunity to prove himself.
Hinata's voice broke the silence. "Naruto-kun, I see movement up ahead. Three chakra signatures—one of them is trying to hide his presence, but I can sense it."
Naruto nodded, his mind already working on the next steps. "Good work, Hinata. Shino, spread your insects to surround them. We'll approach from the north. Kiba, you and Akamaru take point."
As they moved into position, Naruto's heart raced with anticipation, but his mind remained clear. He knew they were outnumbered, but with their skills and teamwork, he was confident they could handle it.
Kiba and Akamaru were the first to engage, bursting through the undergrowth with their Fang Over Fang technique. The escaped prisoners, caught off guard, scrambled to defend themselves, but Naruto was already on them. With a burst of speed, he appeared beside Kiba, his Rasengan forming in his hand.
The first prisoner barely had time to react before Naruto slammed the Rasengan into his chest, sending him crashing into a tree, unconscious. The second prisoner tried to flee, but Shino's insects swarmed him, immobilizing him with their venom. Hinata intercepted the third prisoner, her gentle fist striking pressure points with pinpoint accuracy, leaving him incapacitated and unable to move.
Within moments, it was over. The prisoners lay defeated, their escape attempt foiled by the swift and coordinated efforts of the team. Naruto looked around, ensuring that the area was secure before turning to his teammates.
"Great work, everyone," Naruto said, a satisfied smile on his face. "We handled that perfectly."
Kiba let out a whoop of victory, patting Akamaru on the head. "Piece of cake! Those guys didn't know what hit 'em."
Shino quietly recalled his insects, his calm demeanor unchanged. "They were skilled, but disorganized. They never stood a chance against our strategy."
Hinata smiled softly, relief evident in her eyes. "I'm just glad we could complete the mission without anyone getting hurt."
Naruto nodded in agreement. "That's what teamwork and good planning will do. Let's get these guys back to the village. They won't be causing any more trouble."
As they began the journey back to Konoha with the captured prisoners in tow, Naruto couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. He had come a long way, and so had his friends. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with, and Naruto knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them head-on, just as they had today.
Meanwhile, far from the forest where Naruto and Team 8 had succeeded in their mission, Sasuke lay unconscious in the clearing where the Sound Four had left him. The battle had been brutal, and his body bore the marks of defeat. As the village continued its daily routine, the seeds of doubt and anger were taking root in Sasuke's mind, pushing him closer to a decision that would change the course of his life.
The morning sun had barely begun to light the sky when Sasuke quietly packed the last of his belongings into his bag. His decision was final—there was no turning back now. His room, usually a reflection of his disciplined nature, was now stripped bare, a testament to the severing of ties he was about to make. The events of the previous day replayed in his mind—the brutal realization that despite all his training, he was still not strong enough. The bitterness gnawed at him, fueling his determination to seek the power Orochimaru had promised.
As he slung the bag over his shoulder, Sasuke's thoughts lingered on his past battles, the friends he was leaving behind. But none of that mattered now. All that mattered was his goal, and Konoha could no longer provide the path to achieve it.
He moved quietly through the empty streets, the village still shrouded in the pre-dawn calm. His footsteps were deliberate, each step taking him closer to the village gates, closer to the path he had chosen. He had made up his mind—no one could stop him now.
However, Sasuke wasn't aware that Sakura, who had noticed his increasingly distant behavior, had been watching him closely. Something about him had seemed off, and she couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something. Her heart pounded in her chest as she saw him heading toward the village gates, her worst fears suddenly realized.
"Where is he going?" Sakura's mind raced as she silently followed him. "He wouldn't… he wouldn't actually go to Orochimaru, would he?" But the truth was becoming clearer with each step she took.
Finally, as Sasuke approached the village gates, Sakura couldn't hold back any longer. She darted forward, her voice trembling with fear and desperation. "Sasuke-kun! Wait!"
Sasuke froze, his hand hovering over the latch of the gate. He didn't turn around, but his body tensed at the sound of her voice. This was the confrontation he had hoped to avoid.
Sakura caught up to him, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. "Where are you going, Sasuke? Why are you leaving the village?" Her voice cracked, the emotion behind it raw and unfiltered.
Sasuke remained silent, his back still turned to her. "Go home, Sakura," he said coldly, his voice devoid of any emotion. "This doesn't concern you."
Sakura's heart ached at the harshness in his voice. She stepped closer, her eyes pleading with him. "How can you say that? Of course it concerns me! You're my teammate, my friend! You can't just leave—especially not to go to Orochimaru!"
Sasuke finally turned to face her, his expression hard and unyielding. "You don't understand, Sakura. I need power, and Orochimaru can give it to me."
"Power?" Sakura's voice shook with anger and disbelief. "Orochimaru is the reason Hana is dead! He's the one who killed her, Sasuke! How could you even think about going to him after what he did?"
Sasuke's eyes flickered with a hint of pain, but his resolve remained firm. "I know what he did. But I also know that I'll never get the power I need here in Konoha. Orochimaru can give me the strength to avenge my clan."
"But at what cost, Sasuke?" Sakura's voice was rising, the desperation clear. "You're willing to join the man who's responsible for so much pain? He's the reason Hana died, and he's the one who experimented on Naruto! How can you trust him?"
For a brief moment, Sasuke hesitated, the memories of Hana's death and Naruto's suffering flashing through his mind. But the bitterness of his own helplessness, the need to grow stronger, quickly drowned out those thoughts. "I don't have a choice, Sakura. This is the only way."
Sakura's eyes filled with tears, her voice breaking as she reached out to him. "There has to be another way! Please, Sasuke, don't do this. We can find another way together—we can help you get stronger without sacrificing everything!"
Sasuke shook his head, his expression hardening. "I can't waste any more time, Sakura. I have to do this on my own."
Seeing that reasoning with him wasn't working, Sakura made a split-second decision. She quickly formed the hand seals for a genjutsu, hoping to stop him long enough to get help. "Forgive me, Sasuke…"
But Sasuke was faster. The moment he saw her move, he activated his Sharingan, easily seeing through the genjutsu before it could take hold. In one swift motion, he closed the distance between them, his hand striking the back of her neck with precise force. Sakura's eyes widened in shock as the world around her went dark, her body collapsing into his arms.
Sasuke caught her before she hit the ground, lowering her gently onto a nearby bench. For a moment, he looked down at her unconscious form, his expression unreadable. "I'm sorry, Sakura," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "But this is something I have to do."
With one last glance at her, Sasuke turned and walked away, the village gates closing behind him as he left Konoha behind.
--
A few hours later, the village began to wake, and a passing Chunin noticed Sakura lying motionless on the bench, still unconscious. Alarmed, he hurried over and gently tried to wake her. When she didn't respond, he quickly carried her to the nearest medical facility, where the medics worked to revive her.
Sakura awoke with a start, her heart pounding as the events of the early morning flooded back into her mind. "Sasuke… he's gone!" she gasped, sitting up quickly. Ignoring the medics' attempts to calm her, she bolted from the room and sprinted towards the Hokage's office. Lady Tsunade had to know—there wasn't a moment to lose.
She burst into Tsunade's office, breathless and frantic. "Lady Tsunade! Sasuke… he's left the village! He's going to Orochimaru!"
Tsunade's eyes narrowed, her expression immediately shifting to one of grave concern. "What? When did this happen?"
"This morning… I tried to stop him, but he… he knocked me out," Sakura admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. "He said he needed more power, but I don't understand how he could go to Orochimaru after everything he's done. We have to stop him!"
Tsunade didn't waste any time. She knew the gravity of the situation and the potential consequences if Orochimaru succeeded in turning Sasuke to his side. "Shizune!" she called out, summoning her assistant.
Shizune appeared almost immediately, her expression serious. "Yes, Lady Tsunade?"
"Send word to the available Chunin immediately. We need a team to pursue Sasuke before he gets too far. Bring Shikamaru and Naruto here at once."
Shizune nodded and hurried out of the office to relay the orders. Tsunade turned back to Sakura, her voice softening slightly. "Sakura, I understand how difficult this is, but I need you to stay here and recover. We'll bring Sasuke back."
Sakura nodded weakly, her heart heavy with fear and guilt. "Please… bring him back," she whispered, her voice breaking.
Not long after, Shikamaru and Naruto arrived at the Hokage's office, their expressions serious as they listened to Tsunade explain the situation.
"Naruto, Shikamaru, this is a critical situation. Sasuke has left the village, and we believe he's heading to join Orochimaru. We can't let him fall into Orochimaru's hands. You two are among the most capable shinobi we have right now, and I need you to bring him back."
Naruto's eyes widened with a mix of shock and anger. "Sasuke… left? He's going to Orochimaru?" The disbelief in his voice was palpable. "How could he do that after what Orochimaru did to Hana and to me?"
Shikamaru's expression remained composed, but there was a sharp edge to his voice as he responded. "This is serious. If Sasuke's willing to go this far, he's made up his mind. We need to move quickly and carefully to stop him."
Tsunade nodded, her expression grim. "You'll need to move fast. The longer he's out there, the harder it will be to bring him back. I trust you both to handle this."
Naruto clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes. "I won't let Sasuke throw everything away. We'll bring him back, no matter what."
Shikamaru, always the strategist, nodded in agreement. "We'll do whatever it takes. Let's go, Naruto. We don't have much time."
With their mission clear, Naruto and Shikamaru set out to track down Sasuke, the weight of their task heavy on their shoulders. They knew the bond between them and Sasuke was strong, but the path ahead was uncertain and filled with danger. Despite the challenges they would face, they were resolute—Sasuke was their friend, and they would do everything in their power to bring him back before it was too late.
Sasuke moved swiftly through the dense forest, leaping from tree to tree with the practiced ease of a shinobi who had honed his skills to a razor's edge. The morning sun was now fully risen, but the thick canopy above allowed only slivers of light to pierce through, casting dappled shadows on the ground below. Sasuke's mind was singularly focused on his destination: Orochimaru's lair. He knew that this path was perilous, but the promise of power overshadowed any fears or doubts that lingered in his mind.
The memory of his confrontation with the Sound Four still lingered. Their overwhelming strength had left an impression on him, showing him just how far he still had to go. He needed that kind of power—no, he needed more than that if he was to achieve his goals. His Sharingan eyes scanned the forest ahead, always alert, always aware. But even with his heightened senses, he was caught off guard when, seemingly out of nowhere, the Sound Four appeared around him.
They materialized from the shadows like phantoms, surrounding Sasuke on all sides. He skidded to a halt on a high branch, instinctively dropping into a defensive stance. His eyes narrowed, analyzing the situation.
"Relax, Uchiha," Sakon said with a smirk, holding up his hands in a gesture of mock surrender. "We're not here to fight you."
Tayuya scoffed, her arms crossed as she leaned casually against a nearby tree trunk. "Not yet, anyway."
Sasuke's gaze flicked between them, his expression unreadable. "What do you want?"
Kidomaru spoke next, his six arms twitching with energy. "We're here to help you… upgrade your power, Uchiha."
Sasuke raised an eyebrow. "Upgrade?"
Jirobo, the largest of the group, stepped forward, his tone unusually calm. "You've already awakened the first stage of your curse mark, but that's just the beginning. To truly harness Orochimaru-sama's power, you need to undergo the second stage."
Sakon nodded, his smirk widening. "The power you seek, Sasuke, is within reach. But to unlock it, you need to enter the Sealing Box. It's the only way to fully evolve your curse mark."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed as he considered their words. He knew what they were offering—a chance to gain even more power, to push his abilities beyond their current limits. But he also knew that such power came at a cost.
"And what does this Sealing Box do?" Sasuke asked, his tone cautious.
Tayuya shrugged. "It'll force your body to adapt to the curse mark's power. You'll undergo a transformation, one that will push you past your current limits. But it's dangerous. There's a chance it could kill you."
Sasuke's expression remained stoic, but inside, he felt a surge of determination. He had already come this far—there was no turning back now. If this was what it took to gain the power he needed, then he would accept the risk.
"Where is this Sealing Box?" Sasuke asked, his voice steady.
Sakon gestured to the path ahead. "It's not far from here. We'll take you there. Once you're inside, the transformation will begin. If you survive, you'll emerge stronger than ever before."
Sasuke nodded slowly, his decision made. "Let's go."
With that, the Sound Four led Sasuke deeper into the forest, their presence like dark shadows guiding him toward the next stage of his journey.
--
Meanwhile, back in Konoha, Naruto and Shikamaru were moving swiftly through the village, their mission clear. They needed to assemble a team to pursue Sasuke before he got too far. Time was of the essence, and every second counted.
As they made their way through the streets, Naruto glanced at Shikamaru, his expression serious. "We're going to need all the help we can get. Sasuke's not going to come back easily, and if he's already on his way to Orochimaru, it's going to be a tough fight."
Shikamaru nodded, his mind already working on the logistics. "Agreed. We'll need a balanced team—strength, speed, and versatility. We'll also need to move fast."
Neither of them knew that Sasuke wasn't alone on his journey, that there were forces at work aiding him in his escape. For now, they were operating under the assumption that Sasuke was acting alone, making it all the more urgent to reach him before he could get too far.
As they approached the training grounds, they spotted Kiba and Akamaru practicing tracking techniques. Shikamaru called out to him, and Kiba turned, his face lighting up with curiosity when he saw them.
"Naruto! Shikamaru! What's up?" Kiba asked, jogging over with Akamaru at his side, the loyal hound barking a greeting.
"No time for chit-chat," Shikamaru said, his tone uncharacteristically urgent. "Sasuke's left the village. We're forming a team to bring him back, and we need your tracking skills."
Kiba's eyes widened in shock. "Sasuke… left? He's really going to Orochimaru?"
Naruto nodded, his voice filled with determination. "We'll explain on the way, but we need you with us. Are you in?"
Kiba didn't hesitate. "Of course! Akamaru and I are ready to go."
The trio quickly moved on, heading toward the next potential recruits. They found Neji and Lee training together in one of the more secluded areas of the village. Naruto and Shikamaru quickly explained the situation, and both Neji and Lee agreed to join without a second thought.
As they were about to leave the village gates, Naruto turned to Shikamaru, a thoughtful look on his face. "There's something I need to tell you, Shikamaru. I can use sensory ninjutsu when I tap into my kekkei-tota."
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "Sensory ninjutsu? That'll definitely come in handy. Can you sense Sasuke's chakra from here?"
Naruto closed his eyes and focused, tapping into his unique kekkei-tota. A faint green aura surrounded him as he extended his senses outward, searching for Sasuke's chakra signature. After a moment, his eyes snapped open.
"I've got him," Naruto said, his voice firm. "He's already pretty far, but we can still catch up if we hurry."
Shikamaru nodded, his mind quickly forming a plan. "Alright. You'll be our eyes. Lead the way, Naruto."
As they prepared to leave, they were stopped by the sound of footsteps approaching quickly. They turned to see Sakura running toward them, her face pale and her eyes red from crying. She skidded to a stop in front of them, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
"Wait… Naruto… Shikamaru…" Sakura's voice was shaky, but she forced herself to speak. "Please… bring Sasuke back."
Naruto looked at her, his heart clenching at the sight of her distress. "We will, Sakura. I promise."
Sakura's eyes brimmed with tears, but she nodded, trusting in them. "I… I should have stopped him. I should have been stronger…"
Shikamaru placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice calm and reassuring. "This isn't your fault, Sakura. We'll bring him back. Just stay here and leave the rest to us."
Sakura bit her lip, nodding again. "Thank you… all of you. Please… don't let him fall into Orochimaru's hands."
With a final look at Sakura, the team turned and headed out of the village, following Naruto's lead as he tracked Sasuke's chakra. The path ahead was uncertain, and the stakes had never been higher. But they were determined—no matter what it took, they would bring Sasuke back.
—--
Naruto and Shikamaru's team moved swiftly through the dense forest, the urgency of their mission driving them forward. The morning sun was now high, but the thick canopy overhead cast deep shadows on the ground, making the woods feel darker than they were. Every second counted, and they knew they were closing in on Sasuke, but something about his chakra signature was strange—muted, yet still present.
Naruto led the way, his senses heightened as he tapped into his kekkei-tota, allowing him to track Sasuke's chakra. His brow furrowed as he focused on the signature. It was weaker than he expected, almost as if it was being suppressed, but there was no mistaking it—Sasuke was close.
Kiba, running alongside Akamaru, picked up on something as well. His nose twitched as he caught a familiar scent. "Naruto! Akamaru and I can smell Sasuke—he's not far. But… something's off."
Naruto nodded, his own senses confirming Kiba's observation. "I know. His chakra is weak, like he's being contained or… hidden somehow."
Shikamaru, always quick to adapt, analyzed the situation as they continued to move. "If Sasuke's being hidden, it could be the Sound Four trying to smuggle him out of the village without us knowing. We need to be prepared for anything."
As they pressed on, the sounds of movement ahead reached their ears. Naruto's eyes narrowed, and he signaled for the group to slow down. They crept forward until they reached the edge of a small clearing. There, moving steadily toward the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Sound, were the Sound Four. But what caught Naruto's attention immediately was the large, ominous barrel one of them was carrying on his back.
"That's it," Naruto whispered, his voice tight with urgency. "Sasuke's in that barrel."
Kiba nodded, his sharp senses in agreement. "No doubt about it. Akamaru and I can smell him—he's definitely in there."
Shikamaru quickly assessed the situation, his mind racing. "If Sasuke's in that barrel, they're probably trying to suppress his chakra. They must be trying to transport him to Orochimaru while keeping him hidden from us."
Naruto clenched his fists, a mixture of anger and determination flaring within him. "We can't let them get away with this. We have to stop them here and now."
The team exchanged quick nods, understanding the gravity of the situation. They couldn't afford to let the Sound Four cross the border with Sasuke in tow. If they succeeded, it would be nearly impossible to retrieve him from Orochimaru's clutches.
Shikamaru was the first to act, formulating a strategy on the spot. "We need to divide and conquer. Kiba, Neji, Lee—you focus on separating them. Kiba, use your tracking skills to keep an eye on that barrel. Neji, you cover Kiba's back with your Byakugan. Lee, you're on defense—make sure none of them get close to that barrel. Naruto, you're with me. We'll go for the barrel directly and try to free Sasuke."
Kiba grinned, Akamaru growling in agreement. "Got it. Let's show these guys what we're made of."
Neji's eyes activated his Byakugan, scanning the area around them. "I'll make sure nothing gets past us."
Lee nodded, his fists clenched in anticipation. "I won't let them harm a hair on Sasuke's head."
With the plan in place, the team moved into action. Kiba and Akamaru dashed forward, their speed unmatched as they closed in on the Sound Four. Tayuya, the first to notice their approach, sneered and quickly raised her flute, ready to summon her Doki spirits.
But Kiba was faster. "Fang Over Fang!" he shouted, launching himself and Akamaru into a spinning, destructive whirlwind that tore through the ground, aiming directly for Tayuya.
Neji moved in tandem, his Byakugan allowing him to pinpoint weak spots in the Sound Four's defenses. He swiftly engaged Kidomaru, who immediately retaliated with his multi-armed assault, but Neji's Gentle Fist technique countered each attack with precision.
Lee, true to his word, positioned himself between the barrel and the remaining Sound Four members, ready to defend it with his life. He moved with blinding speed, forcing Sakon and Jirobo to keep their distance.
Naruto and Shikamaru, meanwhile, made a beeline for the barrel. Naruto's heart pounded in his chest as he focused on the container, feeling Sasuke's chakra inside. "Sasuke, we're coming for you!"
But the Sound Four were not going to give up easily. Tayuya, having barely dodged Kiba's attack, snarled in frustration and began playing her flute, summoning her monstrous Doki to block Naruto and Shikamaru's path.
Shikamaru quickly formed a hand seal, his shadow stretching out to immobilize the Doki. "I'll hold them off, Naruto. You go for the barrel!"
Naruto didn't hesitate. He dashed forward, dodging the last of the Doki as Shikamaru's shadow paralyzed them. He reached the barrel, his hands glowing with chakra as he prepared to break it open.
"Hang on, Sasuke!" Naruto shouted as he slammed his chakra-infused hand against the barrel's seal, attempting to crack it open.
But before he could break it completely, Sakon appeared beside him, his fist glowing with dark chakra. "Not so fast, Uzumaki!" he growled, swinging at Naruto with deadly force.
Naruto barely managed to block the attack with his forearm, the impact sending him skidding back. He gritted his teeth, the urgency of the situation pushing him forward. "I'm not letting you take him!"
Kiba and Akamaru rushed to his side, Akamaru barking furiously. "We've got your back, Naruto!"
The battle intensified as the Sound Four fought to keep the barrel—and Sasuke—within their grasp. Naruto, Kiba, and Shikamaru coordinated their attacks, each of them determined to retrieve Sasuke before it was too late. But the Sound Four were relentless, using every trick and jutsu at their disposal to keep the team at bay.
Naruto's heart raced as he felt Sasuke's chakra fluctuate within the barrel, a clear sign that the curse mark was growing stronger. Time was running out, and they couldn't afford to lose.
"Sasuke!" Naruto shouted, desperation creeping into his voice. "We're not going to let them take you! We're bringing you back!"
But as the battle raged on, it became clear that the Sound Four were willing to do whatever it took to complete their mission, even if it meant sacrificing themselves. The tension in the air was palpable, and the outcome of the battle hung in the balance.
Naruto, fueled by his determination and the bond he shared with Sasuke, pushed forward with renewed vigor. He wouldn't let Sasuke slip away into the darkness. Not now. Not ever.
The struggle for Sasuke's future continued, with each side fighting desperately for what they believed in. But in the end, only one side could prevail—and Naruto was determined that it would be theirs.
As the battle raged on, the air thick with tension, a figure emerged from the shadows, quietly observing the chaos. It was Choji, who had followed Naruto and Shikamaru's team from a distance, ready to step in if needed. He had seen the intensity of the fight and knew his friends were giving it their all, but when he saw Jirobo blocking their path and preventing them from reaching Sasuke, Choji knew it was time to act.
With determination burning in his eyes, Choji stepped forward, drawing Jirobo's attention. "You won't stop them, Jirobo. If I have to fight you to make sure they reach Sasuke, then so be it."
Jirobo sneered, his massive form towering over Choji. "You think you can take me on, fatty? You're just as delusional as the rest of them."
But Choji didn't flinch. Instead, he activated his Expansion Jutsu, his body swelling to an enormous size as he prepared to engage Jirobo. "I'm not the same shinobi you think I am. And I'm not letting you hurt my friends."
With that, Choji charged at Jirobo, their colossal forms clashing with earth-shaking force. The impact sent shockwaves through the ground, and for a moment, the battlefield seemed to freeze as the two titans collided.
With Jirobo now occupied, Kiba saw his chance. "Akamaru, let's go! We need to take out Ukon and free Lee!" With a nod from Akamaru, the two launched into their Fang Over Fang technique, spinning toward Ukon with devastating speed.
Ukon, still engaged with Lee, barely had time to react as Kiba and Akamaru's attack connected, knocking him off balance. Lee took advantage of the opening, his fists moving in a blur as he
struck Ukon with a powerful series of blows, driving him back and freeing himself from the entanglement.
"Thanks, Kiba!" Lee shouted as he quickly assessed the situation. With Ukon temporarily out of the fight, Lee turned his focus toward the retreating Sound Four. "Naruto, Shikamaru, we can't let them get away!"
Naruto, Shikamaru, and Lee quickly regrouped, their eyes locking onto Tayuya, who was struggling to carry the barrel with Sasuke inside. But Sakon was still by her side, determined to protect her and the cargo.
Sakon met them head-on, his movements swift and deadly as he fought to keep them at bay. "You're not getting past me!" he growled, his eyes blazing with determination.
But Lee, now free to fully engage, moved with incredible speed, weaving through Sakon's defenses. With a burst of energy, Lee delivered a powerful kick to Sakon's midsection, the force of the blow sending Sakon crashing to the ground, momentarily stunned.
Tayuya, her grip on the barrel faltering, looked back in horror as she saw Sakon fall. But before she could react further, a new presence made itself known.
From the shadows, a figure stepped forward—tall, pale, and radiating a chilling aura. It was Kimimaro, Orochimaru's most loyal and deadly servant. His gaze was cold, calculating, as he took in the scene before him.
Tayuya's eyes widened in fear as she recognized him. "Kimimaro…" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Kimimaro approached calmly, his expression unreadable as he looked down at the fallen Sakon and then at Tayuya, who was still clutching the barrel. "You've done well to get this far, but I'll take it from here," he said, his voice smooth but with an undercurrent of authority.
Without another word, he reached down and effortlessly lifted the barrel from Tayuya's grasp, holding it with a strength that belied his thin frame. He turned his gaze to the Leaf shinobi, who had regrouped and were ready to strike.
"Your efforts are futile," Kimimaro said, his tone almost dismissive. "Sasuke belongs to Orochimaru now. I will ensure he reaches his destination." He glanced down at the barrel, where Sasuke's chakra still flickered weakly, the curse mark continuing to take hold.
Naruto's eyes blazed with anger. "We're not letting you take him! Sasuke is our friend, and we'll bring him back!"
Kimimaro's gaze remained cold, indifferent to Naruto's words. "Friendship is meaningless in the face of power. If you wish to stop me, then try—though it will be your last mistake."
With that, Kimimaro turned and began walking toward the border, the barrel secure in his grip. Tayuya, still shaken, looked at him with a mixture of fear and reverence, but before she could follow, Shikamaru's shadow shot out, pinning her in place.
"You're not going anywhere," Shikamaru said, his voice calm but firm. He tightened his grip on the Shadow Possession Jutsu, ensuring Tayuya couldn't move. "Naruto, go after him. We'll handle things here."
Naruto didn't need to be told twice. With a determined nod, he took off after Kimimaro, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew this was his last chance to save Sasuke, and he wasn't going to let anything stop him.
Lee and Kiba turned their attention back to the remaining Sound Four members, who were struggling to regroup after the intense fighting. With Tayuya immobilized and Sakon down, the momentum had shifted in the Leaf shinobi's favor.
But the fight wasn't over yet. As Naruto raced after Kimimaro, the tension in the air was palpable. The border was just ahead, and with each passing second, the possibility of losing Sasuke grew more real. The final showdown was imminent, and Naruto knew he had to give everything he had to bring his friend back from the brink.
As Naruto sprinted through the dense forest, the only sound he could hear was the thundering of his own heartbeat. The trees blurred past him, his eyes fixed on the figure of Kimimaro ahead, who moved with an unsettling grace despite the weight of the barrel he carried. Naruto's mind raced, his thoughts a chaotic swirl of desperation, determination, and fear.
"Sasuke… you can't leave us like this," Naruto thought, his chest tightening with a mixture of anger and sorrow. The memory of their friendship, of all they had been through together, flashed before his eyes. He remembered the countless times they had fought side by side, the moments of shared laughter, the fierce rivalry that had pushed them both to grow stronger. But now, all of that seemed to be slipping away, and Naruto could feel the weight of it crushing him.
"Why are you doing this?" Naruto questioned silently, his frustration boiling over. "Is power really worth leaving everything behind? Leaving all of us behind?" He gritted his teeth, pushing himself to move faster. He couldn't shake the image of Sasuke's cold, distant eyes from earlier—the way they had looked at him as if Naruto was just an obstacle, a nuisance to be brushed aside.
The thought of Sasuke falling deeper into Orochimaru's grasp filled Naruto with a cold dread. He had seen firsthand the horrors that Orochimaru was capable of, the twisted experiments, the absolute disregard for life. "I won't let him do that to you, Sasuke. I won't let him turn you into a monster."
But even as he ran, doubts gnawed at the edges of Naruto's resolve. "What if I'm too late? What if Sasuke doesn't want to come back?" The fear of failing, of losing Sasuke forever, loomed over him like a dark cloud. But Naruto quickly shook his head, trying to banish those thoughts. "No. I can't think like that. I promised I'd bring him back. I have to keep that promise, no matter what."
Meanwhile, back in the clearing, Shikamaru kept his shadow tightly bound around Tayuya, his mind racing as he tried to think several steps ahead. "Naruto's got the hardest job now," he thought, concern for his friend tightening in his chest. Shikamaru knew just how dangerous Kimimaro was—he had heard stories about Orochimaru's right-hand man, and none of them were reassuring. "Naruto's strong, but Kimimaro is on a whole different level. He's going to need every ounce of strength and skill to even stand a chance."
Shikamaru's thoughts flickered to the rest of the team, each of them fighting their own battles. Choji, who had stepped up without hesitation to face Jirobo, was giving everything he had, but Shikamaru couldn't help but worry. "Choji's strong, but Jirobo is a brute. I hope he can hold his own." He forced himself to push the worry aside, trusting in his friend's determination.
Kiba and Lee were locked in their own fights, both of them pushing their limits to keep the remaining Sound Four members at bay. "We've got to wrap this up quickly," Shikamaru thought, his mind calculating the best way to subdue their opponents. "The longer we're stuck here, the farther Kimimaro gets, and the closer Sasuke is to being lost forever."
As these thoughts swirled in Shikamaru's mind, he noticed the fear in Tayuya's eyes. She was still pinned by his shadow, but she wasn't struggling as much anymore. Instead, she seemed distracted, her gaze darting between Shikamaru and the direction Kimimaro had gone.
"She's scared of him," Shikamaru realized, his analytical mind piecing together the puzzle. "Even she knows what Kimimaro is capable of… and that means Naruto's in more danger than I thought." He tightened his grip on his jutsu, his determination solidifying. "I need to end this now and get to Naruto. He's going to need help."
Lee, still catching his breath after landing a powerful blow on Sakon, glanced at Shikamaru, reading the concern on his friend's face. "Shikamaru's worried about Naruto," Lee thought, his own heart pounding with a mix of adrenaline and fear. "Naruto's strong, but Kimimaro… he's different. I have to finish here quickly. I have to help Naruto."
Back in the forest, Naruto felt the weight of the situation pressing down on him. Every step brought him closer to Kimimaro, but also closer to the border—the line that, once crossed, would make everything exponentially more difficult. "I can't let him get away," Naruto thought, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "Sasuke, don't you see? You're not alone. We're here for you, just like we've always been. Why are you doing this?"
For a moment, a memory surfaced—Sasuke standing in the rain, his expression hard and unreadable as he told Naruto that he was an avenger, that he had to become stronger, no matter the cost. The memory cut through Naruto like a knife. "But at what cost, Sasuke? What are you willing to sacrifice?"
The doubts clawed at him again, but Naruto pushed them down, replacing them with a fierce determination. "I won't lose you, Sasuke. I don't care what it takes. I'll bring you back, even if I have to fight Orochimaru himself."
With that thought burning in his mind, Naruto pushed his body to the limit, his chakra surging as he closed in on Kimimaro. The battle ahead was going to be the hardest of his life, but he wouldn't back down. Not now. Not ever. The bonds of friendship, of team and village, were on the line—and Naruto would do whatever it took to keep those bonds from breaking.
As Naruto's Rasengan connected with Kimimaro, the impact was forceful, sending the bone-wielding shinobi skidding back across the ground. For a moment, it seemed as though Naruto had the upper hand. But as the dust settled, Kimimaro slowly rose to his feet, seemingly unfazed by the damage. His cursed seal flared, and dark chakra began to surge through his body.
Kimimaro's cold eyes locked onto Naruto, a glint of determination in them. "You've shown some skill, Uzumaki, but you're far from defeating me."
Without warning, Kimimaro moved, his speed blinding. One moment, he was several meters away; the next, he was right in front of Naruto, his fingers morphing into razor-sharp bone blades. Naruto barely had time to react, instinctively dodging to the side as Kimimaro's attack sliced through the air where he had been standing.
Naruto's heart pounded in his chest as he narrowly avoided the strike, realizing just how fast Kimimaro truly was. "He's faster than I thought," Naruto thought, his mind racing as he tried to anticipate the next attack. But Kimimaro didn't give him any time to think.
Kimimaro pressed his advantage, launching a barrage of attacks with precision and speed that forced Naruto onto the defensive. Each bone blade struck with deadly accuracy, and Naruto found himself barely managing to evade or block each one. The wind that Naruto had summoned swirled around them, but Kimimaro seemed unaffected, his movements fluid and relentless.
Naruto gritted his teeth, feeling the strain of keeping up with Kimimaro's onslaught. "He's not just fast—he's strong, too. I can't let him keep me on the defensive like this!"
But Kimimaro wasn't done yet. With a swift motion, he leaped back, creating some distance between them. Naruto tensed, expecting another attack, but instead, he watched as Kimimaro's body began to change. The bones under his skin shifted and protruded, forming an intricate,
protective armor over his torso and limbs. The bone armor glistened ominously, a clear sign of his Shikotsumyaku, the Dead Bone Pulse, in full effect.
Naruto's eyes widened as he realized what Kimimaro was doing. "He's creating armor… to nullify my attacks."
Kimimaro gave a small, almost imperceptible smile. "This is my strongest defense. Your Rasengan, your wind jutsu—they won't penetrate this armor."
Before Naruto could formulate a counterattack, Kimimaro vanished from sight, reappearing behind Naruto with a speed that left him momentarily disoriented. Kimimaro's bone blades slashed through the air, and Naruto had to twist his body at the last second to avoid being skewered.
The relentless assault continued, with Kimimaro pressing his advantage. His movements were almost too fast to follow, and every time Naruto tried to counter, Kimimaro's bone armor deflected or absorbed the blow. Naruto could feel his energy waning, the strain of Sage Mode taking its toll, but he couldn't afford to let up. Not when Sasuke's life was at stake.
As Naruto dodged another bone spear, he realized he was being pushed back—further and further from the barrel containing Sasuke. The realization fueled his desperation, and he knew he had to change tactics.
"Come on, Naruto, think!" he urged himself, trying to find a way to break through Kimimaro's defenses. "He's fast and his armor is nearly impenetrable… but there has to be a weakness."
Kimimaro, sensing Naruto's hesitation, pressed even harder. He summoned a series of bones from the ground, sharp spikes that shot up in all directions, forcing Naruto to leap into the air to avoid being impaled.
But Kimimaro was already waiting for him above, his bone blade poised to strike. "It's over," Kimimaro intoned, his voice as cold and emotionless as ever.
Naruto's eyes widened as he saw the blade coming toward him, knowing he had to act fast. In the split second before impact, Naruto twisted his body in mid-air, channeling chakra to his feet to propel himself downward, narrowly avoiding the blade as it sliced through the space where his head had been.
He landed hard on the ground, but there was no time to catch his breath. Kimimaro was on him again, his bone armor gleaming in the dim light of the forest. Naruto raised his arms to block, but the sheer force of Kimimaro's strike sent him skidding back, his feet digging into the dirt.
"His speed and strength are incredible," Naruto thought, struggling to maintain his balance. "And that bone armor… it's like he's invincible."
But Naruto wasn't one to give up easily. He could feel the wind around him, the natural energy still coursing through his body from Sage Mode. There had to be a way to use it—to turn the tide in his favor.
Kimimaro, sensing Naruto's resolve, prepared to end the battle. He summoned a massive bone spike from the ground, a deadly weapon that towered above them both. With a powerful motion, he sent it hurtling toward Naruto, intending to finish him off in one swift strike.
But Naruto was ready. Channeling his wind ability, he pushed the air around him, increasing the velocity of the wind currents. The spike, massive as it was, met with resistance as it hurtled through the wind vortex Naruto had created. It slowed, the friction against the wind making it veer off course slightly, enough for Naruto to sidestep it.
Using the momentum from the dodge, Naruto surged forward, closing the distance between him and Kimimaro in an instant. He poured his remaining chakra into another Rasengan, the sphere glowing with intense energy.
Kimimaro raised his bone-armored arm to block, confident that his defense would hold. But Naruto had anticipated this. As he brought the Rasengan down, he directed the wind around it, using the force of the wind to create a spinning vortex that increased the Rasengan's penetration power.
The Rasengan connected with Kimimaro's armor, the impact sending a shockwave through the air. For a moment, it seemed like the bone armor would hold. But the wind-infused Rasengan spun faster, drilling into the armor with relentless force. Cracks began to form in the bone, spreading like a spiderweb until, finally, the armor gave way.
Kimimaro's eyes widened in shock as the Rasengan broke through his defense, the force of the attack slamming into his chest and sending him flying backward. He crashed into the ground, skidding to a stop several meters away, the remnants of his bone armor crumbling around him.
Naruto landed heavily, breathing hard from the effort. He could feel the strain of the battle taking its toll, but he couldn't afford to rest. Kimimaro was down, but he wasn't out, and the border was dangerously close.
Kimimaro struggled to his feet, his breath ragged as he clutched his chest where the Rasengan had struck. Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth, but his eyes still burned with determination. "You're stronger than I anticipated, Uzumaki," he admitted, his voice strained. "But this is far from over."
Naruto, still catching his breath, locked eyes with Kimimaro. "I'm not letting you take Sasuke. No matter how strong you are, I'll find a way to stop you."
Kimimaro's expression remained stoic as he prepared for one final assault, drawing on the full power of his cursed seal. The outcome of this battle would determine Sasuke's fate, and neither of them was willing to back down.
Naruto, his Sage Mode still active, readied himself for whatever came next. The wind swirled around him, the natural energy fueling his resolve. This was the final push—the moment that would decide everything. With everything on the line, Naruto knew he had to give it his all to bring Sasuke back, no matter the cost.
The battle between Naruto and Kimimaro was nothing short of a brutal clash of wills, each combatant pushing themselves to their absolute limits. The once serene forest now bore the violent scars of their conflict—cracked earth, shattered trees, and deep gouges marking where their attacks had landed. The very air seemed to pulse with the tension between them, every move, every strike, carrying the weight of their unyielding resolve.
Naruto, still in Sage Mode, moved with the speed and precision of the wind, dodging and countering Kimimaro's relentless bone attacks. His heightened senses and agility allowed him to stay one step ahead, but even with these advantages, Naruto could feel the strain of the fight wearing on him. Kimimaro was faster and stronger than nearly anyone he had faced before, and his bone armor made landing a decisive blow almost impossible.
Kimimaro's expression remained cold and focused, his movements a blur as he unleashed a barrage of bone spears at Naruto. "You've fought well, Uzumaki," he said, his voice disturbingly calm given the intensity of the battle. "But it's time to end this."
Naruto gritted his teeth, narrowly dodging the deadly projectiles. "I'm not done yet!" he shouted, summoning more chakra into his hands. He formed another Rasengan, its swirling energy crackling with power as he charged at Kimimaro.
But before Naruto could close the distance, a powerful surge of chakra erupted from the barrel Kimimaro had been carrying. The wood splintered and cracked under the pressure, and in a flash of dark energy, Sasuke burst from the barrel. His eyes glowed red with the power of the Sharingan, and his curse mark was fully activated, its black markings crawling across his skin like living shadows.
"Sasuke!" Naruto shouted, his voice a mix of relief and desperation. He halted his attack, his focus shifting entirely to his friend. "Sasuke, stop! You don't have to do this!"
But Sasuke didn't respond. His expression was cold, determined, as if Naruto's words hadn't even reached him. Without a glance back, Sasuke turned and began sprinting toward the border, his speed enhanced by the curse mark's power.
Naruto's heart sank as he watched Sasuke run. "No… Sasuke, don't go!" He took a step forward, ready to chase after him, but Kimimaro swiftly moved to block his path, his bone blades gleaming ominously in the dim light.
"You have bigger problems, Uzumaki," Kimimaro said, his voice composed and eerily calm. He could see the turmoil in Naruto's eyes, the pain of watching his friend slip away, and he intended to exploit it. "Your fight is with me."
Naruto clenched his fists, frustration boiling over. "Get out of my way, Kimimaro! I have to stop him!"
Kimimaro's expression remained unreadable as he activated the second stage of his curse mark. His skin darkened to a deep gray, and the bone armor on his body expanded, growing thicker and more formidable. The black markings of the curse mark spread across his body like a network of veins, and his power quadrupled, the air around him crackling with dark energy. "You're not going anywhere, Naruto. Your fight is with me."
Naruto's eyes widened as he felt the overwhelming pressure of Kimimaro's newfound power. The difference was staggering, and for the first time, Naruto felt a flicker of fear. But he pushed it down, knowing he couldn't afford to hesitate. "Fine. If that's how it has to be, then I'll take you down and go after Sasuke myself!"
Kimimaro didn't give Naruto a chance to think further. With a burst of speed that defied belief, he was on Naruto in an instant, his bone blades slashing through the air with deadly precision. Naruto barely managed to block the first strike, but the sheer force of the impact sent him skidding backward, his feet digging into the ground as he struggled to maintain his balance.
Kimimaro pressed his advantage, his attacks coming faster and harder, each one more powerful than the last. Naruto found himself on the defensive, struggling to keep up with the relentless assault. The power of the curse mark had made Kimimaro almost unstoppable, and Naruto knew he was in serious trouble.
"Lee!" Shikamaru shouted, making a quick decision. "Go help Naruto! He's going to need you if he's going to stand a chance against Kimimaro!"
Lee didn't hesitate. With a determined nod, he launched himself toward the battle between Naruto and Kimimaro, his heart pounding with urgency. He knew how important this fight was—not just for Naruto, but for all of them. He couldn't let Naruto face Kimimaro alone, not when so much was at stake.
As Lee sprinted toward the fight, Kiba and Akamaru were still locked in a fierce battle with Sakon and Ukon, who had managed to recover and regroup. The twins, now reunited, fought with deadly coordination, making it nearly impossible for Kiba and Akamaru to land a decisive blow.
"We've got to take them down, Akamaru!" Kiba growled, his frustration mounting. But before he could launch another attack, Sakon and Ukon used their unique ability to split once again, surrounding Kiba and Akamaru on both sides.
"Got you now!" Sakon sneered, as he and Ukon prepared to launch a coordinated strike.
Kiba tried to react, but the twins were too fast. They struck simultaneously, their blows sending Kiba and Akamaru flying in opposite directions. Kiba crashed through the underbrush, his body skidding to a halt as pain shot through his limbs. Akamaru let out a pained whimper as he landed some distance away, struggling to get back on his feet.
Separated from his partner and the rest of the team, Kiba's situation was dire. He could hear the distant sounds of the battle between Naruto and Kimimaro, but he knew he couldn't reach them in time. "Damn it… I've got to get back to the others," Kiba thought, his heart racing as he forced himself to stand. "But first, I've got to deal with these two."
Meanwhile, Naruto continued to fight desperately against Kimimaro, but the difference in power was staggering. Every time Naruto tried to counter, Kimimaro's bone armor deflected the blow, and his speed made it nearly impossible for Naruto to find an opening.
Kimimaro's voice, calm and measured, cut through the chaos of the battle. "You're strong, Naruto, but your strength comes from emotions. Those bonds you cling to—they make you weak."
Naruto's eyes blazed with determination as he parried another of Kimimaro's strikes. "You don't understand anything, Kimimaro! Those bonds are what give me strength! They're what make me fight harder, push myself further!"
But Kimimaro's resolve was unshakable. "Then let's see if those bonds can save you now," he said, his voice cold as he unleashed a flurry of bone spears, each one aimed with deadly precision.
Naruto dodged and weaved through the onslaught, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a plan. The power gap between them was immense, and the clock was ticking. Sasuke was getting closer to the border with every passing second, and Naruto knew he had to find a way to break through Kimimaro's defenses.
Just as Naruto was about to make his next move, he felt a presence beside him. Lee had arrived, his expression fierce and focused as he assessed the situation. "Naruto! I'll hold him off! You go after Sasuke!"
Naruto glanced at Lee, his heart swelling with gratitude and relief. "Thanks, Lee! I owe you one!"
With Lee now engaging Kimimaro, Naruto turned and sprinted after Sasuke, his heart pounding with urgency. "Sasuke, wait!" he shouted, his voice carrying through the forest. He could only hope that his words would reach his friend. But Sasuke didn't stop; he didn't even look back.
As Naruto closed the distance, his mind raced with memories of their past, of everything they had been through together. "Why, Sasuke? Why are you doing this? You don't have to go to Orochimaru! We can get stronger together, just like before!"
But Sasuke's expression remained cold and determined, his eyes fixed on the path ahead. The border was in sight, and with every step, he was closer to crossing into a world that Naruto couldn't follow.
Meanwhile, Lee found himself facing the full might of Kimimaro's cursed seal. The bone-wielding shinobi's power had quadrupled, his attacks faster and stronger than ever. But Lee didn't flinch. He met each of Kimimaro's strikes head-on, his speed and precision matching Kimimaro's, even as the power of the cursed seal bore down on him.
"This guy… he's incredibly strong," Lee thought, gritting his teeth as he narrowly dodged a bone spear. "But I can't let him defeat me. I have to buy Naruto enough time to bring Sasuke back."
Kimimaro, sensing Lee's determination, pressed his advantage, his attacks becoming even more ferocious.

Naruto finally caught up to Sasuke, his heart pounding as he pursued his friend through the dense forest. They had left the rest of the team far behind, the battle between Naruto and Kimimaro now nothing but a distant memory. As Naruto pushed himself harder, the trees began to thin, revealing the vast expanse of the Valley of the End.
Sasuke came to a stop atop the head of the statue of Madara Uchiha, his figure stark against the fading light of the sky. The thunderous roar of the waterfall below filled the valley, the water crashing down with unrelenting force. This place, where Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha had once clashed in a battle that shaped the future of the shinobi world, was now the setting for a new confrontation—one that would decide the fate of two friends.
Naruto halted on the opposite statue, standing on the head of Hashirama Senju. His chest heaved with the exertion of the chase, but his eyes remained fixed on Sasuke, who stood
defiantly across from him. The space between them felt like a physical manifestation of the growing distance in their bond, a chasm that Naruto was determined to close.
"Sasuke!" Naruto called out, his voice echoing across the valley. "You don't have to do this! Come back to the village… we can still be a team!"
Sasuke slowly turned to face Naruto, his expression cold and resolute. The curse mark had fully activated, its dark, twisting lines snaking across his skin. His Sharingan eyes glowed with a deep red, reflecting both his inner conflict and his unwavering determination. The wind howled through the valley, tugging at Sasuke's cloak as he stared at Naruto.
"There's no going back, Naruto," Sasuke replied, his voice flat and emotionless. "I need power, and the only way to get it is to sever my ties with the village… and with you."
Naruto felt a sharp pain in his chest at Sasuke's words, the rejection of their bond cutting deep. But despite the hurt, he refused to give up. "Sasuke, I know what happened to your clan… I know you're hurting. But Orochimaru isn't the answer! He'll use you, just like he's used everyone else. Please, don't throw everything away for him!"
Sasuke's gaze hardened as he stepped closer to the edge of the statue, his eyes locked onto Naruto's. "You don't understand, Naruto. This is my path. I'm an avenger, and I'll destroy anything that stands in my way, even if it means severing every last bond I have."
Naruto felt tears welling up as he listened to Sasuke's cold declaration. "If that's really how you feel… then I have no choice. I'll stop you, Sasuke. I won't let you go to Orochimaru, even if it means fighting you."
Sasuke's expression remained unmoved as he fully unleashed the power of his curse mark, dark energy swirling around him like a storm. The black markings spread further across his body, and his Sharingan flared with an intensity that matched the fury of the waterfall below.
"Then come at me, Naruto," Sasuke challenged, his voice as cold as the winds that whipped through the valley. "Let's see if your bonds can really stop me."
Naruto's resolve solidified as he took a step forward, the wind swirling around him as he prepared for the inevitable clash. He knew this battle would determine not just their futures, but the fate of their bond and the future of Konoha.
The tension between them was palpable, the weight of their impending fight pressing down on the valley like a storm about to break. The statues of Madara and Hashirama loomed over them, silent witnesses to a battle that would echo through history.
With a final glance at Sasuke, Naruto tightened his grip on Kusanagi, the legendary blade glowing with a faint, ethereal light. "I won't let you go, Sasuke. I'll bring you back, no matter what it takes."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed as he shifted into a combat stance, his entire being focused on the battle ahead. "If you're serious about that, Naruto, then you'll have to kill me."
The two stood on opposite sides of the valley, the roar of the waterfall the only sound between them. The Valley of the End, once the site of the greatest rivalry in shinobi history, was now the stage for another legendary battle—one that would decide the fate of two friends bound by pain, rivalry, and an unbreakable connection.
With a final breath, both Naruto and Sasuke launched themselves at each other, their figures blurring as they charged forward with all the speed and power they could muster. The impact of their clash reverberated through the valley, shaking the ground beneath them and sending shockwaves through the air.
