The party was raging inside everyone was dancing and drinking, but all Steve wanted to do was take a minute to breathe. He had originally been excited to join in on the new years celebrations, but it wasn't exactly what he had hoped for. It wasn't like he had anyone to kiss, and while he had a drink or two it just wasn't the same.

Leaning against the wall Steve looked up at the sky, he could see a few of his friends getting some fireworks ready out of the corner of his eye. Eddie Munson was watching Steve from an indoor window. He grinned, sensing his opportunity. He grabbed two solo cups and made his way out the door.
"Hey Harrington," Eddie smirked, offering a cup to Steve. Steve grinned and took the cup.

"Thanks Eddie, I didn't know you were coming to the party."

"I originally didn't plan on it, but I thought why the hell not. Beats being at home and going to bed at a reasonable hour." Steve laughed at his response, the other high school students were making their way out to the lawn, laughing and joking with one another. "So you found anyone to kiss for the new years?"

"No…"

"Ah bummer," Eddie looked towards the other kids on the lawn. Everyone started counting down.

"Ten, nine!"

Eddie looked him up and down and set his cup on the banister.

"Eight, seven!"

"Steve would you uh-."

"Six, five!"

"Would you want to be my new years…" he bit his lip, looking over Steve's facial features, he was something else, truly gorgeous.

"Four three!"

"Would you be my new years kiss?"

Steve's mouth opened a bit in surprise.

"Y-yeah…"

"Two, one!"

Eddie grinned wide at the reply.

"Happy New Year!" The others shouted as fireworks began to blast behind them. Eddie tipped Steve's chin up and brought his lip towards his own. Steve closed the gap between them, fireworks weren't just bursting above them but between them. Steve couldn't believe his first kiss for the new year was Eddie freaking Munson, but that he was pretty sure this was going to continue past this night.

They pulled away and Eddie's eyes were full of hope. "Thank you…"

"Thank you." Steve retorted. "I uhm.. Wh-what made you want to kiss me?"

"I've wanted to kiss you for a while." Eddie replied as he took another drink. "I was just glad you let me."

Steve blushed again. "S-So…"

"You want to make this a thing?" Eddie asked. "Cause I think that was a firework kiss."

The two looked up at the sky as more fireworks blasted above them. "I think it was too, so.. So yeah… I would like to."

Eddie grinned and grabbed his hand. "So we are a thing now?"

"Yes."

"Best new years ever."
