I hated being pregnant.
Oh, I was happy to be having a baby with Marco, but being pregnant sucked.
I was constantly tired now as I neared 30 weeks and would snap at just about anyone for anything. I had probably hexed Thatch more than anyone else, honestly. The man just knew how to set me off.
My magic was also a bit unpredictable at the moment. The baby's magic tended to mix with my own when my emotions got out of control. This lead to me mostly staying in our room so as not to cause an issue. That, or sitting in the library where it was usually pretty peaceful. Very rarely did I go out on deck just in case we were attacked. I made an easy target now.
I had a few cravings, but thankfully nothing too strange. The worst one, in Thatch's opinion, was when I asked for buttered toast and sugar. Or just a bowl full of sugar and a spoon. My other cravings were mostly fruits and any kind of potatoes. Marco found it funny anytime he caught me snacking on dates or pineapples, stating that our child took after him since she had me eating his favorites.
I had charmed his hair pastel pink for a whole week the first time he said it.
I huffed as I felt a strong kick hit my ribs and leaned back in my chair. I had been going over the finances for the crew since I couldn't really do much else without feeling like I was going to faint. If I wasn't careful, I would be put on bed rest.
"Little one, you are bruising mommy's ribs again. Are you trying to tell me to eat?" I laughed as I received another kick, this time to my kidney. I swear, sometimes I thought I was having twins, but I couldn't use the imaging spell on myself to check. We would just have to wait and see. With how big I was already, I wouldn't be surprised. "Okay, okay. I'll go ask Uncle Thatch for a snack. I'm sure there's some dates hidden around the kitchen since I ran out of the ones in here this morning."
I carefully got up, my hand on my back for support, and made my way slowly out of the room. Since it was close to lunch time, I knew that the pompadoured man would be getting everything ready. Even if we were out of dates, I knew that we would have some other fruits for me to have. We always tried to keep a stockpile of them. Especially now.
Using the walls so that I wouldn't get too tired, I walked down to the kitchens with a smile. I paused to talk with a few of my brothers that were in the halls as I passed, letting a few of them rub my stomach before I continued on. I would need to sit down soon to rest, and I would prefer to have my snack when I do.
"Thatch! My wonderful, handsome brother, please tell me we have some more dates," I called out as I entered the kitchen. "Your niece is demanding a snack."
I gave the man a smile when he turned away from where he was checking over a pot of soup one of the other chefs was making. He gave me a big smile as he wiped his hands and made his way over to me. He knelt down and put his hand on my stomach, speaking to the baby like a lot of them had a habit of doing.
"Don't worry, princess. Uncle Thatch got a whole crate of dates for your mommy when we stopped a few days ago."
I laughed and rolled my eyes, sitting down in the chair Lou, one of the guys in Thatch's division, brought over to me. The ginger haired man gave me a wink before going to get me a bowl of dates.
While I hated not being able to do everything on my own, I couldn't help but feel so loved and cared for when one of the guys helped out or one of the nurses helped with the nutrient potion I had started taking. Granted, that particular one was used to help others on the ship as well. Since it didn't require magic to make, I had taught all of the nurses and Marco how to do it in case neither Hadrian nor myself could.
Thinking back, I smiled as I remembered the times that I had asked Death to help get the ingredients for different potions. The primordial being liked to visit from time to time to check on both Hadrian and I. No news from our home world, but he had brought over different things from the family vaults that I couldn't get through the enchanted bag. The item only connected to the money, not the heirlooms. He had been very happy when I had told him about my pregnancy and gave him a letter to give to Remus and Sirius. I didn't often write to them, but I was very glad that I could. Even if I never got a reply. Death had explained that he could only appear to me since I was descended from the Peverrell line and the mother to him chosen master. And boy was that a shock when he had revealed that part of Hadrian's destiny.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by Thatch handing me my snack. With a smile, I thanked him and hummed as I enjoyed the dates. The sound of the busy kitchen was calming now that I could be in there without getting sick from the smell.
"So this is where you went off to, yoi."
I looked up, date halfway to my mouth, and blinked as Marco came in. I tossed the fruit in my mouth and smiled at him.
"Baby was hungry and I ran out of my stash in the room," I explained.
He smiled down at me and took the bowl, helping me up. "Well, you have a check up, yoi. I came to help you to the infirmary."
I pouted slightly as he stole a date for himself before turning to call out to Thatch.
"Thanks for the snack! See you at lunch!"
I really was in a good mood now. The way my mood swings were going, I preferred when I had a good day. My magic was calm on those days. Much better than the alternative.
Marco led me out of the kitchens, giving me back my bowl, and kept his arm around my waist as we walked.
"How are you feeling today, yoi?" he asked after a moment.
"Mm, my back hurts and my feet are swelling, but I haven't had any nausea today yet, so that's a plus." I nibbled on another date while leaning into Marco's side. "Izou helped me with the chore schedule earlier, so that's done. I just have to finish up the financial report and then I'm done for the day."
"Did you take breaks, yoi? I don't want you to overwork yourself."
I nodded my head. I had made sure to take frequent breaks. Marco had asked me the same questions almost every day now. Especially once I had told him that I thought we might be having twins. He tried not to hover, which I appreciated, but he still worried as I got further along. It was sweet.
"Don't worry so much, Marco. I promise to let you know the moment I don't feel well." I smiled up at him. "Besides, with how often everyone checks in on me, I wouldn't be able to hide it."

Fuck my luck.
Damn every single dirty there is.
I took a few deep breaths to calm my breathing before looking over to Hadrian, who was currently reviewing the assignment I had given him for charms theory at my desk. I would need him to go get someone quick.
I had stood up to go grab a snack and felt a wetness trickle down my leg. I was only thirty-two weeks along. Either this baby just wanted out, I had just peed myself, or it was twins and they were ready to come. I just wished Marco was back already from his supply run to the island we were currently docked at.
"Hadrian, go get help," I said, my voice a bit strained as I felt a contraction start up. I had been feeling them all morning, but not as strong as they were now. "And have someone go get dad. I'm pretty sure my water just broke."
I slowly sat back down on the bed, trying to keep my breathing steady, as the boy ran out of the room shouting. I knew that I was likely to be in labor for a while, but I didn't want to chance anything.
Another contraction had me gritting my teeth and laying back on the bed to try and salivate some of the pain. They were about five minutes apart now.
I barely noticed someone come in and pick me up to take me to the infirmary. I just focused on my breathing and not cursing whoever it was.
Damn Marco for choosing today to go into the town. He better be back quick.
"Tate! Liz's water broke!"
Guess it was Joey that was found first. At least it wasn't Thatch. I probably would've hexed him by now.
He laid me down on the bed we already had set up for this very moment and let Tate hook me up to an IV and check me over.
I didn't really pay much attention, though. I was more focused on my breathing and ignoring the pain I was in. It was worse than the cruciotus curse. Why did women do this willingly? My back felt like it was on fire with every contraction, and all I wanted was Marco next to me so that I could curse him for doing this to me.
I'm not sure how long I laid there with Tate keeping watch. It felt like hours, and I could really only focus enough to take small sips of water every now and then.
Marco had arrived at some point and held my hand. I'm sure I yelled at him, but I wasn't sure what I had actually said. Probably a lot of curses, but I was just in too much pain to be sure.
It felt like days before it was time to push, and I felt Marco move to support me as I was sat up slightly. I focused on Tate instructing me when to push, sweat soaking my face and neck, making my hair stick to it.
Six hours of pushing, and possibly fracturing Marco's hand multiple times with the amount of blue flames flaring up, later, I tiredly held two small bundles in my arms while my husband kissed my head and whispered praises to me.
Twins. Two little girls who were now sleeping calmly after being checked over by Tate. The head nurse was cleaning up, giving us a few moments of peace before we would have to face everyone else.
"You did so good, yoi. I'm so proud of you."
I felt him shift on the bed next to me, warmth spreading through my body as he used his phoenix fire to heal me. Leaning against his side, I stared down at the two little bundles in my arms.
They were almost identical. The only difference being their hair color at the moment since their eyes were closed. The one on the right had tufts of black hair while the one on the left had little blonde curls. The sight warmed my heart.
"Rest, Lizzie. I'll watch over you three, yoi. Promise."

"They're so tiny, dad. What are their names?"
I felt my eyes flutter open at the sound of Hadrian speaking. Marco must've let him in while I slept. Turning my head, I smiled at the sight of my son holding one of his sisters. He seemed to be looking at her with a mix of awe and love. How precious.
"The one you're holding is Sakura Elizabeth, and dad is holding Camellia Iris," I said softly, gaining both of their attention. "Are you happy that your sisters are finally here, kit?"
Hadrian smiled at me and nodded. "Of course, mom! Now I got two baby sisters to protect, so I have to train even harder now!"
I chuckled softly at his conviction as a knock sounded at the door. When it opened, Thatcher and Izzy can in with smiles.
"Man, Marco, you sure make cute kids!" the cook laughed. "Guess they take after their momma since neither one looks like a pineapple!"
I didn't expect anything else from Thatch as I watched the man get hit by his soulmate. After the tiring labor, I was glad for the normalcy of the guys bickering and teasing. It warmed my heart. Especially when Hadrian joined in. Everything was wonderful. And our family felt complete with the two little bundles that were being passed to the other two.
