For reference later.

"Now you awaken."
In an instant, Izuku was shocked awake. Looking at his phone's clock showed him it was nearly 8 in the morning. For a moment, he had sat there pondering his dream. What did it actually mean? More importantly, was any of it actually true? If it were, why tell him now of all times? He pondered this as he was getting ready for another day in his life.
He made his way out the door and into the streets of Mustafu. On his walk he pulled up his phone to check up on any new local hero news. Nothing too interesting though, however there was one thing that somewhat caught his attention. "Mysterious Sighting At Villian Attack"
He looked through the article to find a very odd piece that described a villian attack that involved a villian with a slime quirk... Odd, for some reason that had reminded him of something but he coulden't remember what it was. He read the rest of the article to see some rather interesting details about a horned vigilante. With local theroies going from a intimidating heteromorph to outlandish monster theroies. Although if his dream had any merit, the latter was probably true.
At the end of the article, was the only usable picture around since. Apparently, when it appeared on sight, almost all elctronic devices had stopped working in the immediate area. The picture was taken when the shade left its body. It was kind of mesmerizing if he had to be honest. Like some sort of otherworldly being. Yet for Izuku, there was a sting of familiarity. He wasn't sure why though.
Soon enough he made it inside of his school. Nobody said anything to him, it was standard at this point. It was easy to ignore the mundane after all. However, in his halfway attentive state, he bumped into Bakugo. A flash of anger was potrayed by the explosive guy, but suprisingly, he brushed it off. "Fuck off you quirkless runt... I don't care." He said in a disquieted voice. He then walked to wherever he was going.
A suprisingly civil interaction? Although, Midoriya noticed something off about the interaction. He seemed uneasy, and on edge. Like if this happened the day before, he would scoff and jeer at him, probably set off firecracker sized explosions while doing it. But instead, he was dissmisive. Although he was the vicitm of the slime villian and that whole strange event. It would be reasobable to be like that.
Midoriya, instead of going to class, made his way to the school library to look at anything that might interest him. When he entered, he noticed that the library was empty. Unsuprised, he somewhat just wandered around the place untill he found anything that would catch his eye. As he did inspect the room of old knowlege he found himself in the salvaged pre quirk era section, where he found one book that made him stop and pick it up for checkout. For some reason he read the book's title and author when he had it in his hands.
"The Book Of The Five Rings...
Miyamoto Musashi."
When he was done inspecting the book, he went to check it out to read, as he did so the librarian commented. "Eh? No one ever checks this one out."
Midoriya responded. "Oh, uh really?" Somewhat nerviously, as usual.
The old librarian chuckled. "Yeah, its been roughly 14 years since anyone even expressed intrest in the old samurai books! Let alone read it. Lemme tell you though, that one is a classic. Hope you take the wisdom of the Sword Saint himself seriously." After he said this, he scanned the book and handed it back to Midoriya. The old man then said. "Now you should get going, class is about to start."
Midoriya took both the book, and the librarian's advice. He had made it to class with little time to spare and without anyone batting an eye. So, without any resistance of any kind, he started to read the book.
Toshinori had waited in the ruined streets for Tatsu's arival. He still was unforgiving of himself for the near disaster that was the day before. He had fought yokai before. Admittedly rarely and with help from the spirit that guides One For All, as well as the ocassional help from the man he was waiting for, but in a occurance with a Aratama in the public he was still concerened with his time limit. He couldn't at least confront the yokai. It was as clear as day that they were all lucky... He preached about how dangerous being a hero was to that kid from the day before, but he couldn't act on his own damn words. Even when he was in the same positon nearly 40 years ago.
As Yagi was wrapping up his own inner and personal monologue, the man he was waiting for had arrived a bit early, considering his responsibilities. The deflated hero voiced concern. "Hope I didn't pull you from something important, Tatsu."
The man reffered to as Tatsu just shrugged and said. "The very grumpy caterpiller just expelled the last student. I've nothing important to do for the rest of the year." He chuckled as he said this. Toshinori was taken aback by this. He knew that Eraserhead was a strict man when it came to teaching, but to expell 20 students in the first month?
'Tatsu' saw the hero be shocked at what he said. "Now don't you concern yourself with this. Lets get to the important matters."
Yagi then realized something. "Wait a miniute... Where is the other one?" He realized that duo was in solo for the moment.
'Tatsu' brushed it off. "She was listening until I described the yokai in full detail. Then she got this look in her eye and went on her own. You know how she is."
The hero interjected. "Actually I wouldn't, I've never talked to her."
'Tatsu' dismissed this fact. "That's because she doesn't. Hell, the last full sentence I remember her saying was 15 years ago. Now can you show me what happened in full detail?"
The deflated hero, realizing he had derailed the conversation twice now, finally started to voice his real concern. "Ah, right. Sorry. Well, as far as I can tell, he came from over there. Jumped down in front of the crowd." As he said this, he pointed to the rooftops on the street opposing the alley. He then made an arching motion to where the beast landed. Toshinori then explained. "He then just stood there for a moment... He looked back at the crowd, as if he was quickly seeing who was around. He then stepped forward, lumbering as a tower." Toshinori was visibly still conlficted when he described the situation. "When he passed all the heroes on scene, the fires errupted to an unpassable degree. At that point, the only witnesses are the hostage and the hospitalized villain. Other than the lightning strike, of course. We all saw that."
'Tatsu' simply listened to him and then examained the burn marks. "Hmm, tell me. Did the yokai happen to have a glowing crest on his chest?"
Yagi was a bit confused at this. "Uhh, yeah. Kind of like a derranged, thickend yen symbol. Why would that matter?"
Sighing, 'Tatsu' explained. "That makes it far more likely a transformation. Not unlike a Hanyō."
"A Hanyō? In this day and age? Yokai activity would have been noticed here if that were the case, right? Besides, you told me that it is near nonexistant outside of Kyoto and certain graveyards." Yagi argued.
He scoffed. "Low profile Toshinori. I thought All for One would have taught you that." Yagi flinched at the mention. However, he conceded the point. 'Tatsu' then proceded to ask a question that he was seemingly concerned with. "Now... Did it have a Hagaromo?"
Yagi, at first, didn't understand the question. "What?"
"Did it or did it not have a Hagaromo scarf?" Tatsu said with growing annoyance and concern.
.
"... Mistlike, coming from the parts of the crest that reached near his shoulders. Why would that be important?" Yagi was now getting suspicious of the question.
He scoffed again. "You don't know much about the other kind of supernatural in this country, do you?" He sighed and explained. "Hagoromo scarfs are symbolic with divine beings among yokai. We've established that the yokai itself was an Oni. As well as the fact that it is also likely a shiftling. The conclusion that the Hanyō type is Kijin... Like me."
Yagi, now realizing both the inplications of what he saw and the luck everyone had when it actually fought the villain, had to collect himself due to his potential fuckup in playing bystander. "Shit."
Tatsu just leaned against the scorched brick wall. "Just be on guard for the next few weeks."
Yagi, confused now, said. "Only a few weeks?"
Tatsu elaborated. "If it were anything truly malicious, he would strike again sooner rathter than later. If it were a special circumstance that made him transform, chances are that he likely didn't mean to be. Opting for a blinded state with amnesia for the event. Meaning that if this was on purpose, he would strike again, if not, we have little to worry about."
Yagi, was unconvinced of this assurance. "You sure seem confident about how this will go down, aren't you the least bit concerned about a potential new Kijin villain?"
Tatsu fired back. "If I cannot do it, the Sohaya will. And if not them. We still have Sohayamaru. Listen, if this turns into a big deal, the information I aquired here will at least let me plan around the potential threat." When he said that, he got back into his car and drove off.
Yagi watched his car drive out of view and sat on some rubble. "I hope he is right about this. I am unsure of how long One for All will be in my system in a usable state." He thought.
Midoriya closed the book as the bell rang and packed up his things. Things were not usual at all today. This was the first day that Bakugo didn't go out of his way to antagonize him. While a welcome change, he wonders what his ex old friend saw the day before to be so on edge today. Hopefully, he would forget about him applying to U.A as well so that he wouldn't have another series of rants directed at him for the next 10 months.
He only got just finished the book of earth in the book, but that was because it had far more to say than he thought. It gave him a lot to think about. He knew it was mostly an introduction for the other four books, but he now saw that when he would try to he a hero, he would have to put in far more effort than he thought.
He then thought about his dream the night before. Now he had thought, that he would find himself in the same place when he would go to sleep tonight if it were true.
By now, he was wandering the park and he saw it. The shrine dog that woke him up the day before. As he approched to pet it, A phantom emerged, jumping out of the dog and landed in front of him. Izuku was mystified at the sight. Sheer shock had made his legs grow rubbery, causing him to fall.
It appeared as a white wolf with red markings on its shoulders. It wore a neclace of firey red prayer beads, it's golden eyes peered deeply into his own. It reared back and circled him while leaping, preventing escape. Jumping midair to not mis a beat. Finally, when it got back infront of him, it pounced on him. Panic swelled at the moment he saw it get close. The sensation as it made contact was not unpleasent, though not welcome. Izuku didn't want to know how it felt to have a spirit assimilate in your body after all. His vision was a momentary golden haze. Soon enough, the sight and sensation ended entirely, as his heartrate settled peacably.
He looked to his right to see that the wolf was calmly laying beside him. Izuku said it's name outloud, as if he knew what it was for his entire life. "Okami... Is that what you are?" The spirit yawned in response. Meanwhile, the shrine dog Okami had previously possesed barked and pranced around, it then ran off. To where? Izuku didn't know.
He got up, and as he did so did the spirit wolf. He looked at Okami and said. "Are you just going to stay with me? N-not that there is anything wrong with that." Okami tilted its head, then, after a moment, disappeared. However, its presence was still felt by Izuku. like he could call it back here. So he tried to, and it reappeared. Then he dismissed it. To see that it disappeared again.
He then heard the voice of the yokai in his dreams. "Communion with a guardian spirit already? We haven't started yet, and yet you have impressed me. Now then... You shall met me in the Interim again to start your training as a yokai as dusk falls apon your eyes."
Midoriya was, understandably, caught off guard by this message. But it confirmed that everything the night before was real. After a moment of thinking, he started his walk home... After all, he didn't have anything better to do.
When Izuku finally got home, he noticed that it was one of the rare occurances wher his mother was home before him. She eagerly greeted him while doing some other things. "There is my boy, did you have a good day?"
Izuku just scratched the back of his head and awnsered. "Just the usual. Nothing special."
"Well, that's fine too. Just make sure that you..." When they looked at each other, there was a pause. Izuku had been reminded that his mother didn't take all much care for herself since that day. Not in the stress eating way, more in the opposite direction. However, he noticed that she wasn't looking at him, moreso beside him.
One awquard moment later, she brushed it off as quick as possible. "Just make sure that you come down when dinner is ready. I'm making your favorite.
Izuku thanked her and the night passed oddly quickly afterwards. When he went to sleep he found himself back at the Interim.
"Shall we start?"
