Chapter Twelve
The next day or rather night in Mutopia, the mutants were enjoying the first night of entertainment.
Louie, Patch and several other Mutopians had provided a buffet feast, and drinks to enjoy and for the evenings entertainment, everyone was performing a Christmas song in their own way, whether it was singing in a certain style, or through dancing and comedy.
Richard and Erika, Tyroth and Amber's parents were with them, yet Hugh had been unable to join them as he was working the graveyard shift yet he requested to see some videos of the evening.
After Tyroth had introduced the show, they started off with 'The 12 Days of Christmas' where everyone as they had rehearsed walked through the audience and walked onto the stage in their outfits as the song was played.
Needless to say, it got a huge laugh out of everyone, especially with how Barry and Cam were dressed as the Partridge in a Pear Tree and the Five Gold Rings.
Also Leona had to cluck like a chicken as the Three French Hens and Dahlia had to holler like a colly bird as they made their way to the stage.
Yet when Michelangelo arrived last onto the stage, Raphael, Donatello and Leonardo thought he looked so funny and Raphael instantly took a few photos on his phone.
"I don't know what's funnier!" he said to his brothers "Him in that drummer outfit or when Pandora and Kemeko used to smear make up all over him and dress him up when they were younger."
"I think he looks pretty cute!" Sephie said "It's Cam and Barry I feel sorry for though, how silly their outfits look!"
"Not wrong there Gecko Girl." Donatello agreed.
After everyone applauded that segment, Jack, Sharky, Raphael and Leonardo did a barbershop quartet to 'Carol of the Bells' which everyone was amazed by with how in harmony they sang together.
After that, Sonia and Pandora sang a duet which everyone recognized as Jack Skellington's song 'What's This?' from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' which made a lot of people smile as well as sing along.
Jake decided to sing 'Baby it's Cold Outside' along with Amber and they did a little dance scene together as they sang.
In fact as he watched, Tyroth shed a little tear as this was Jake and Amber's first Christmas as a couple and he felt so happy that his sister had found a good partner as well as a lover in Jake.
It didn't matter that his sister was a mutant and Jake was a human, they loved and cared for each other and that's all that mattered.
Sephie, Amber, Monalisa and Kate then decided to do a dance to 'Jingle Bell Rock' dressed in red dresses with white trim and Santa hats, a scene a few Mutopians and the Hamato Clan recognized from the movie 'Mean Girls'.
As they saw their wives and girlfriends up their in their sexy suits, Raphael, Tyroth, Jake and Michelangelo had to conceal their excitement.
As the lizard girls and once Viper girl were dressed in red sexy Santa dresses and hats on their heads, they performed their own routine which didn't go wrong like in the film and everyone gave a standing ovation.
Cam and Barry sang a duet and their song was Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody' which got everyone up and dancing.
After the upbeat songs and music were sung, the more slower ones came on to get everyone relaxed.
Michelangelo and Kate started that segment off by singing 'Fairytale of New York' which was a special one to them as it was a song they sang together before sharing their first kiss.
As they did that, the turtles, Splinter and Monalisa felt slight nostalgia as well as warmth as they remembered the sweetness of that moment.
Freya and Loki surprised everyone by singing 'Silent Night' in Swedish and everyone went quiet as they listened.
"Wow..." Jake said as he leaned close to Tyroth "I have heard that song sung in French and even German, but never Swedish."
Tyroth just smiled proudly and he looked over at his parents who were seated not far away and were mouthing the words as they listened.
"I love it." Jake added and looked to Amber who squeezed his hand.
"Is it all the same lyrics like in the English version?" Jake asked Tyroth who shook his head.
"No, some words have changed, but I'll tell you later." he winked and looked back at his children who sang the carol in the language of their roots.
When they finished, Tyroth, Sephie, Amber, Erika and Richard cheered loudest of all.
After the Geckolings sang their piece, Kemeko came onto the stage with Heather, Dahlia, Sarah, Chloe and Leona and they sang 'Once in Royal David's City' with Kemeko singing the first verse which was always sang as a solo, as was tradition.
As the acts went on, Monalisa leaned towards Sarah and Percy.
After they had returned to Mutopia after helping Lacey, they had told Tyroth, Splinter and Old George what had happened, and the two elders and the Dragon were proud that they along with Jake, Jun and Dahlia had helped her.
"I'm pleased you were able to help a lost soul." Old George had said "And you convinced her to return to her family."
"She choose to return to face the music and continue to live her life that is still stretched before her." Splinter had said with a smile "Thanks to your wisdom."
"I wonder how Lacey's getting on?" she asked.
"I think she's okay." Percy said "She seemed keen to go home and make amends."
"I hope so." Sarah agreed "I sort of wish we had followed her to make sure."
"Likewise." Monalisa said "Well Jun and Dahlia made sure she got in alright, yet they didn't stay to find out how things went."
"Well, they couldn't really." Percy said "Otherwise they would have been seen."
"Well, we can only hope everything's alright." Sarah said "And maybe, if we get the details from Jun and Dahlia, we might check in on her from a distance at a later date?"
"That's a good idea." Monalisa whispered.
Just then, Chloe walked onto the stage, dressed in white and smiling.
Everyone went silent as they waited to see what the butterfly would sing for them.
Only a couple of years back, Chloe had overcome her shyness to reveal that she had a beautiful singing voice and through some encouragement from Monalisa and Sephie, she had decided to open up and take the plunge and show off her talent.
As the music started, everyone held their breath then they recognized the song as the main theme from the movie 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'

Does that mean Christmas changes too'
As everyone heard the lyrics, some felt a pang within them as it stirred some thoughts about how some felt about the holidays, how when as children it was the best time of the year, but then as they got older and things changed, it was no longer magical for them, but a time of worry, and sadness.
Jun and Dahlia shared a look as they thought about their families and how much they missed them and they held each other close.
Jun kissed Dahlia's head as she hugged him and she in turn nuzzled him.

Jake removed his glasses as tears fell from his eyes, memories of how sad Christmas was, and stressful too since Monalisa went missing and when Callum went of the rails, he felt Christmas was never the same and was always a difficult time as he was expected to be happy and excited despite the pain and stress he felt.
Amber saw him and she lifted a hand to wipe his tears.
She knew only too well the feeling after she had lost her older brother and she gave him a small smile in sympathy showing she understood.
Jake smiled back through his tears and nuzzled her, feeling grateful she understood him better than anyone about losing an older sibling, a hero and best friend.
At he same time, Monalisa felt a pang in her heart as she remembered those two lonely Christmases in New York before the Turtles found her and took her in.

As Chloe reached the climax of the song, everyone felt a warmth within as despite the sadness many had felt when their lives had changed and they had mutated, or in Jake's case had chosen to stay in Mutopia as a human, they had found happiness again in making new friends and family, and they felt the joy of Christmas again when it came around.
It wasn't the Christmases they knew, nor would they ever be the same again, but they were all grateful they had people they loved and cared for around them and supported them all the same.

As Chloe finished the last few lines of the song, there was a moment of silence, then everyone applauded loudly, amazed to hear Chloe sing for them again and the Butterfly blushed and bowed to everyone before leaving the stage, a few tears in her eyes.
Five minutes later, everyone was enjoying food and drinks and were socializing.
Jun and Dahlia stood together as they sipped some drinks.
"Jun." Dahlia said "I know last night wasn't how we planned, but I do feel grateful we were able to help Lacey."
Jun hugged Dahlia close to him.
"It's okay babe." he said "In a way, I feel this first Christmas of ours has been one we'll remember, and I hope we can do the same to others if they're lost."
"You think we can?" Dahlia asked.
"Trust me babe." Jun said "If we put our minds to it, we can help anyone in need, whether saving them from danger, saving their lives or just guiding them home, that can be our mission in life."
Dahlia smiled
"I hope so hun," she said "Merry Christmas my love."
"Merry Christmas sweetheart." Jun said then looked up to see some mistletoe hanging nearby and he guided Dahlia towards it then kissed her passionately under it.
Dahlia blushed then nuzzled her lover.
"Happy first Christmas as a new mutant love." she said.
"And you too." Jun replied.
Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Lacey cradled Timmy as she watched the television.
Since she had returned after being saved by Jun and Dahlia and spoken to by Sarah, Percy, Monalisa and Jake, she had thrown everything she could into being a help and a good sister to Timmy and Ralph and Emily couldn't believe it.
They stood by the living room door seeing Lacey holding baby Timmy, cooing at him and nuzzling his nose.
"I don't know what happened out there." Emily said "But it's like a miracle, she's changed."
"Tell me about it." Ralph agreed "I don't know what happened when she was out there, but it did bring Lacey back to us!"
Emily nodded.
"Like a fairytale." she said "A Christmas miracle, and I couldn't be more grateful."
"Our wish came true." Ralph said as he hugged his wife "and I look forward to seeing our kids grow up together and spend many loving years together."
"Me too Ralph." Emily agreed "Me too."
In the living room Lacey continued to hug and cuddle Timmy.
"Dear brother Timmy." she said "I can't tell you how sorry I am for the way I behaved, but I promise you, I will be the best big sister you ever had, I'll look after you, be your guiding light and help you get through life."
She kissed her brother's head.
"I love you so much." she whispered "Merry Christmas baby brother, your first one too."
