It was the Monday morning after our first big heist, which was a failure. We had the first piece, and we lost it. On the plus side, we were no longer able to be possessed by Father Darkness, and Jorgen was finally himself again. After our group breakfast, we met at the bridge again. Jorgen started our meeting by saying "First things first, I never went over Father Darkness's powers with you. This is a mistake I will remedy today. His power set is limited, but powerful when used right."
"Like possession." Chester said.
"Exactly. But I've cast a charm that will prevent us from being possessed by him again." Jorgen said.
"That's a relief." Trixie said.
"Yeah, I still have a headache from yesterday." Cindy said.
"Me too." Trixie said.
"Anything an anti-fairy can do, he can do too. Father Darkness can also be persuasive, so be careful if you meet him. Listen closely to him. And for the record, he is not Anti-Jorgen. Anti-Jorgen is a sensitive soul who likes making macaroni wind chimes." he said.
"Okay, now that we have that info, let's get to the second piece." I said. Jorgen put up maps of the main office building of Pixie Inc.
He pointed to the office at the top floor and said "This is where the second piece is."
"Wait, is that the fairy artifact we gave as a peace offering after the war?" I said.
"Yes, it is. Hopefully, they'll understand us having to destroy it. I have a team looking for a suitable replacement for them." he said.
"What if they decline our offer?" I said.
"That's when we go to plan B, we steal it." he said.
"How are we going to do that when it's in Head Pixie's office?" I said.
"Same way we got the first piece, Poof enters the case, takes the piece, then leaves. Simple." he said.
"If you say so." I said. Our meeting concluded, and the ship left the depot. We then started our flight to Pixie Inc. We even kept the van, just in case. Sheen had discovered the night before that the van could fly. We parked it in our landing bay, where Sheen and Jimmy planned to add more upgrades. I decided to hang out with Tootie some more, so I went to her room. When I got there, I noticed she was stitching something. Not wanting to scare her, I calmly said "Hey Tootie."
After turning around in her chair, she said "Hey Timmy, I wanna show you something." So, I walked over to her and saw that she was making a new outfit for her Timmy doll. It was clearly based on my old Crash Nebula costume, but with a couple personal touches. The suit was white with pink and blue stripes running down the back. The belt was yellow, and also had a T buckle. And instead of a hood, there was a separate helmet with a mirrored visor. After she showed me, she said "What do you think?"
"I like it." I said.
"Good, because I was thinking of making it for you. I'm also working on making outfits for the rest of the crew. Because what space crew is complete without proper outfits?" she said.
"Good point. You should tell Jorgen about it." I said.
"I will." she said. Suddenly, my stomach growled. I guess breakfast wasn't that filling. I then heard her stomach growl. So, she said "Wanna grab a snack before I tell him?"
"Yes." I said. We both walked over to her door, only to be greeted by Eustace. How he got on the ship undetected I will never know. But I did know he had a laser pistol like mine, since it was pointed right at my face.
"Such a cute moment, shame I have to ruin it." he said.
"Eustace, let's not be hasty." I said.
"Goodbye Turner." he said. Then bang, nothing but darkness. I then opened my eyes, and noticed I was in my bedroom back on Earth. Nothing was out of place or sticking out. I looked around the room, then saw Tootie walk in. At first, nothing was wrong. But when she tried to step closer to me, she grabbed her stomach in pain before falling to her knees. When I ran over to her, I moved her hands and saw that a laser had shot through her stomach.
I looked at her face, and she said "Why didn't you save me?"
"What?" I said.
"You had the shot, but you didn't take it." she said. As she spoke, she morphed into Eustace.
Eustace said "You could have stopped me at any time, why didn't you?" Before I could form even an incoherent response, I woke up back on the ship. I was in the sick bay, with Jimmy and AJ standing next to me.
AJ noticed I was awake and said "Welcome back captain." I looked to the other bed and saw that Tootie wasn't there.
So, I said "Where's Tootie?"
"Eustace kidnapped her. He also took the van." Jimmy said. He then handed me a piece of paper and said "He left this for you."
I opened the paper, and it said "Meet me on the roof of the Fairy World Space Needle. Only then will you see your little girlfriend again." I tossed the paper aside and got out of bed. I needed to get to the Space Needle as soon as possible, and I figured Jorgen would be able to get me there fast. As I left the sick bay, Jimmy followed me out.
He said "Where are you going?"
"I'm looking for Jorgen." I said.
"He's on the bridge. What's going on?" he said. I realized I might need a weapon, so I grabbed my laser pistol. I entered the bridge and Jorgen was still there.
Jorgen saw me and said "What's going on Turner?"
"I need you to transport me to the roof of the Fairy World Space Needle." I said.
"Does this have anything to do with Eustace Strych?" he said.
"Jorgen, please, I need you to do it." I said.
"You don't have to do anything. Let the Fairy Police handle it. They know what they're doing." he said.
"He wanted me, no one else. I'm not putting Tootie's life at risk. Send me." I said.
"Timmy, please. There are other options." he said.
"No, there aren't." I said.
"Fine. I'll do it. Just be careful." he said.
Before Jorgen could do anything, Sheen came in and said "Wait, I'll go with you."
"Sheen, you don't have to." I said.
"Nonsense, Tootie's my friend too." he said. I decided not to argue with him, so we both went. With a wave of Jorgen's big wand, Sheen and I were instantly transported to the top of the Fairy World Space Needle. I noticed we were standing right next to our van. "I'll get in the van. You go find Tootie." he whispered before getting in the van.
A voice from a distance yelled "So glad you could join us Mr. Turner." I looked past the hood to see Eustace holding Tootie with a laser pistol aimed at her stomach.
"Eustace, let Tootie free. She doesn't have to be here." I said.
"Oh, but she does." he said. "I'm going to tell you a story. Four years ago, I had loving parents and a wonderful life, even after Neutron became a nuisance. But then a pink hat wearing brat came and ruined everything."
"How did I ruin anything?" I said.
"After our encounter in Retroville, my parents forced me to live in New York City with my aunt, and they wrote me out of the will. Now the fortune goes to my moronic little brother." he said.
"Wait, weren't you trying to destroy Retroville?" I said.
"I was trying to help that retched little city. But mummy and daddy didn't think so. They claimed I was crazy. That I needed 'help.' Four years, I've waited. When I saw Neutron at that inventor's conference last year, I expected to see you there. Jimmy Neutron's greatest ally, but you weren't there. So, not one for small talk, I pretended to flee in terror so he'd leave me alone. When Anti-Cosmo came to recruit me, that's when I learned that you were from a different dimension. But that didn't matter, because I knew I would get to see you again Timmy Turner." he said.
"Now you have, and now that you're finished with your story, you can free Tootie?" I said.
"You missed the point of the story. You ruined my life, now I'm going to ruin yours." he said. Not liking what he said, I aimed my laser pistol at his head. He said "That's cute, you actually think you're a threat."
"Just let her go. This is between you and me." I said.
"Go ahead Turner, take the shot! I dare you." he said. Just as I was about to pull the trigger, my sense of morality kicked in. There were many things I was willing to do, but outright murder was not one of those things. Just as I was about to set the laser to stun, Eustace said "Don't overthink it, remember this simple motto. Only the good die young." He then shot Tootie and let her go. As she fell to the ground, part of my soul died. I looked away from her, and back to Eustace.
My rage was building at an extremely fast rate. His smug face after he shot the girl I loved sealed his fate. He didn't make matters any better when he said. "What's the matter old sport, you gonna cry?" It was at that moment that my common sense was thrown out the window. I walked up to Eustace and punched him in the face repeatedly. Each punch moved him a step back, so I kept punching him until we reached the edge of the roof.
Before Eustace could fall, I grabbed him by his collar and held him as he dropped his laser pistol. He said "Go ahead, drop me, I know you want to." As you can imagine, I thought about letting him go. But I realized that killing him would solve nothing. So, I pulled him up and let go of him. As I started walking towards Tootie, he said "Get back here! We're not done."
I turned back to him and said "Don't push your luck."
"I never said you could leave." he said. I stunned him with the laser, and he fell to the ground. I ran over to Tootie, who's hands were placed on her stomach to add pressure. I picked her up and carried her over to the van. I put her in the back as Sheen started the van. He then started our flight to the Fairy World Spaceship Depot where we would meet our crew. As the ship started flying, I decided to check on Tootie.
She partially opened her eyes and weakly said "Timmy?"
"It's okay, I'm here. We're gonna get you back to the ship." I said. To make sure there was pressure, I put my hands on top of hers. I wasn't sure how long she would stay conscious, so I turned to Sheen and said "Push the teleport button."
"But we nearly crashed the last time we used it in motion." he said.
"Tim…" she said. Her consciousness was slowly fading.
So, I screamed "Just do it!"
"Okay!" he said. He then pushed the button and teleported us right to the depot. Our ship was parked right outside the entrance, so we parked right next to the ship.
After our safe landing, I looked at Tootie and said "Hey, we're here." She didn't respond. When I moved my hands, her hands collapsed to the floor of the van. "Tootie!" I said, before checking for a pulse. When I couldn't feel anything, I checked for a heartbeat. I heard nothing, which scared me to no end. "Oh god! No!" I yelled. I frantically started giving her CPR, hoping that would do something. But there seemed to be no heartbeat. I feared that the worst had happened, she died. I was so shocked, I didn't notice the back doors had been opened. I looked out to see the rest of my crew with mournful faces. As I exited the van, AJ and Jimmy ran into the back with a stretcher.
I walked onto the ship, where I fell to my knees just as I entered through the main door. All I could do was let out a loud, painful scream. There were no words at that point, only tears. Jimmy and AJ walked past me with Tootie, where I felt hands on my shoulders. I wasn't sure who it was, but I was glad someone was trying to support me.
It became clear that it was Trixie when she said "Timmy, I'm so sorry." I then started sobbing uncontrollably. When I was finally able to gain some composure, we walked to the bridge to see the crew with their heads bowed. The only ones that weren't there were Jimmy and AJ.
I walked over to the center of the room and said "I know you are just as shocked as I am that Tootie is no longer with us. Well, to be honest, I'm not sure I'll ever get used to it." Before I could continue my speech, Jimmy and AJ burst into the room.
"Captain, we have some news." AJ said.
"What is it?" I said.
"Good news, Tootie's heart is beating. It looks like the CPR you did brought her back." Jimmy said.
"And the bad news?" I said.
"We're not sure if she's gonna live?" he said.
"Jimmy put his experimental nano-bots to work. They can do a lot, even revive dead tissue. It all depends on the severity of the injury." AJ said.
"But there's a possibility she'll live?" I said.
"We'll just have to wait and see." Jimmy said.
"In the meantime, we should head over to Pixie Inc. Even if we don't steal the piece today, we should still get there." AJ said.
"My thoughts exactly. Jorgen, set course for Pixie Inc. We have a job to do." I said. With no hesitation from anyone, we were once again on our way to Pixie Inc. My only concerns were could I get the piece, and would Tootie be alive.
It was the day after that lame guy Eustace left for home, and nothing had been going on. That was, until Crocker came in looking distressed. Curious, I said "Hey Denzel, what happened?"
"Gary, you're not going to believe me, but it looks like Tootie might be dead."
"What, are you sure?" I said.
"I was scoping the ship depot, waiting to catch a glimpse of the other team's ship as it left. Instead, the ship landed by the entrance, and the van they stole parked close to it. When the back doors of the van were opened, Turner left the van as Neutron and AJ went in with a stretcher. They left with her on the stretcher. By the time I left, I could hear Turner scream. I honestly felt sorry for him." he said.
"Any idea who could have done it?" I said.
"No. I'm just preparing myself for the moment I have to tell Vicky." he said. His timing could not have been worse, as Vicky came in just as he finished his sentence.
"Tell me what?" she said.
"Vicky, I think your sister has been killed." he said. Vicky was never someone I would call nice, but even death could affect her.
"That's not possible. You're lying." she said.
"I wish I was. I'm so sorry." he said. Vicky stood there in disbelief, as a single tear rolled down her cheek. Just then, Eustace came in. How he was still on Fairy World after being kicked off the team I was unsure of. That didn't matter at that moment though. He looked like he had been punched in the face repeatedly.
Eustace looked at us and said "Why the long faces?" God, I wanted to smack him.
"My sister died." Vicky said.
"Oh yeah, that. Unfortunate, but inevitable." he said. God, I wanted to kill him.
"What?!" she said.
"Turner had to learn to be decisive, even if it meant losing someone close to him." he said. Just as I was about to walk over to him, Vicky did that for me when she walked over to him and slapped him. Not once, but twice, all before she started choking him.
"You little shit! What did you do to my sister?" she said.
"I did what had to be done." he said. I figured Eustace was stupid, but I didn't think he'd be that stupid. Deep down, I wanted him dead. But, if he died, he wouldn't have been able to answer any questions.
So, I walked over and said to Vicky "Let him go."
"No. He killed my sister." she said.
"Would she want you to kill him?" I said.
Though I know she wanted to say the opposite, she said "No." She then let go of Eustace and walked out of the room.
Wanting to have a private chat with the idiot, I said "We'll be back Crocker, I need to have a talk with this guy."
"Whatever you say Gary." Crocker said. I decided to take Eustace on a little ride, mostly to get him out of the house. We got on my motorcycle and went to the tallest building in Fairy World, the Fairy World Space Needle. It was kind of like the Space Needle in Seattle, just a little bit smaller. We were able to get on the roof without getting caught by security.
Before I could ask any questions, he said "You must be a mind reader. This is where I did it."
"Did what?" I said.
"Shot Tootie. I gave Turner a chance, and he failed. He wouldn't even kill me by letting me fall." he said. After confirming his stupid act and that he wanted Tim to kill him, I walked over to him and put my arm on his shoulder.
I then said "Come with me. I wanna show you something." We then walked to the edge of the roof and looked at the skyline. Fairy World really was pretty to look at. I said "Ain't this an incredible view?"
"You should have seen Turner's face." he said. Looks like he wanted to brag more.
"I bet he was sad." I said.
"He looked like he was about to cry. And that was when I took her from their ship." he said. I couldn't believe my ears, Eustace somehow broke onto Tim's ship. I could see Crocker and a small team doing it, but Eustace by himself? He didn't even seem competent enough to tie his shoes by himself. Now he expected me to believe he got onto the other team's ship.
So, I asked "How did you do it?"
"How did I do what?" he said.
"I'm asking the questions now. How did you get on the ship?" I said.
"A gentleman never reveals his secrets." he said. He seriously referred to himself as a gentleman. I couldn't believe the ego on this guy. By that point, I had it with his nonsense. He was nothing but a spineless coward. He practically told me his life story when we met. He just kept going on and on, despite my pleas for him to stop. He was like Remy Buxaplenty, but a whole lot sadder.
So, I said "Listen to me very carefully, you are nothing. Dirt, scum, worthless. You make Remy Buxaplenty look like the greatest guy on the planet. He may hate Tim, but at least he wouldn't kill someone he loved. You, on the other hand, are cruel enough to do something so morally disgusting. And don't tell me your little sob story about how mommy and daddy don't love you. I don't care."
"What are you trying to get at?" he said.
"I just want you to tell me how you got on the ship, that's all. Did Father Darkness help you?"
"What are you talking about?" he said.
"Are you trying to play dumb with me? Because if you are, it isn't going to work." I said.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." he said.
I said "Okay Eustace. Now, I know Tim didn't kill you, that's his code. I, on the other hand, do not have such a code." I then pushed Eustace off the building before walking over to the roof door. I was glad to finally be rid of that pest. Now it was time to get back to the adventure at hand.
