After many days full of adventure, the World's Treasure was finally destroyed. This meant that we were finally going home. This also meant that I had to say goodbye to my crew. Which was harder to do with my Retroville friends, since they lived in a different dimension. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy to be done with that World's Treasure stuff. After nearly dying multiple times, I was ready for a boring summer. Actually, no, I just mean not life threatening. On the plus side, I saved Jorgen's brother from the clutches of the evil spirit that possessed him. And the universe was safe, of course. This called for a celebration. This included an entire buffet of finger food, all being made by Jorgen and Axel. We also changed back into our regular clothes.
As the food was being cooked, I wandered onto the bridge and saw that Crocker was looking out of the window, standing alone. So, I walked over to him to see how he was doing. I said "Are you okay Mr. Crocker?"
"Yes, just deep in thought." he said.
"That's good." I said.
"Turner, it's probably too late for this, but I'm sorry." he said.
"For what?" I said.
"For all the things I've done wrong to you. I had no idea your life was as tough as it is." he said.
"Well, I'm sorry too." I said.
"For what? Me losing my fairies wasn't your goal. Cosmo probably would have done it instead. As for your mother, well, you definitely had nothing to do with them falling in love." he said.
"What was it?" I said.
"Slow dancing to the Robert Palmer song 'She Makes My Day' at our senior prom." he said.
"You really loved her?" I said.
"I did. But now, I'm realizing that it's time for me to move on. I may not be young, but I still have life ahead of me. Maybe I'll find love?" he said.
"I'm no expert on love." I said.
"You're fourteen, that's a given." he said.
"But still, it is possible that someone out there loves you. You just have to find them." I said.
"Thanks Timmy. I just hope I fall for someone who I trust more than I did Father Darkness." he said. That last part of his remark stood out.
"Why did you even trust Father Darkness in the first place?" I said.
"He made me promises that, while too good to be true, I wanted to be real. Looking back, however, his promises were empty." he said.
"Did he promise to give you Cosmo and Wanda?" I said.
"Yes, he did." he said. It was here that Crocker looked at me. "But now, after knowing more about you, I realize two things. One, you need Cosmo and Wanda in your life. Two, you're nothing like your father."
"What do you mean?" I said.
"Even at your dumbest, you are a competent person. And you have a good heart. You really do need Cosmo and Wanda. I know you'll have to give them up at some point, so enjoy them while you can." he said.
"Thanks Mr. Crocker." I said.
"Is there any way I can talk to them before my memory has to be wiped?" he said. I had a feeling he would ask that question. So, I planned ahead. I had both Cosmo and Wanda stand just outside the door. On my cue, Cosmo and Wanda floated into the bridge. Crocker then walked over to them and said "Hello Cosmo. Hello Wanda."
"Hello Denzel, it's been a very long time since I talked to like this." Wanda said.
"I suppose it has. I'm glad to see you both again without trapping you in a butterfly net." he said.
"I'm just glad you don't have a butterfly net." Cosmo said.
"Well, it's good to see you and knowing you're doing what you do best." Crocker said.
"And that is?" she said.
"Making a neglected child feel loved. Just like you did with me, I suppose." he said. Crocker saying that gave me a new question.
I said "Why did you have fairies in the first place?" There was clear pain behind his eyes.
"My father left when I was six." he said. "It was the week before Christmas. My mother was making a turkey, I was playing with my toys, and my father was going out to get some dessert. He walked out of that door and never came back." There was only one way I could respond to that.
"I'm sorry." He looked at me with a confused expression. But then, it clicked for him. He knew I was sorry that happened to him.
With that, he said "Thank you." He then pulled out his phone and said "You should get to the dining room. That's where the party is, right?"
"That's right. You coming?" I said.
"In a moment, I need to make some calls. You go, I'll be there." he said. So, I went to the dining room, with Cosmo and Wanda floating close behind me. Once in the dining room, I made myself comfortable. Everyone else was hanging around in different spots of the dining room. I saw that Tootie was in the back of the room, sitting next to an empty chair.
So, I sat down next to her and said "Mind if I sit here?"
"No, go ahead." she said.
"So, we're done with this adventure." I said.
"I know, thank goodness." she said. It was then that AJ sat next to me. He then said "Hey Timmy, on Friday, you said you can sing."
"I can't believe you still remember that." I said.
"Well, I wanna hear you sing." he said. It was here that Jimmy and Cindy came over.
Jimmy then said "Wait, you can sing?"
"Yes, I can." I said.
"Now I wanna hear too." he said. You would expect me to say no. But, I already had plans to sing. All I needed was a guitar.
I said "Alright, I'll do it. Someone has to get me a guitar though."
That's when Sheen popped over and said "Is acoustic good?" He then presented a pink acoustic guitar.
"Perfect." I said as I grabbed the guitar. As I tuned the guitar, I struggled to think of a song to play. But when I looked at Tootie, it became obvious what I was going to sing.
Before I could start playing, Sheen said "Oh, oh, oh, play 'Sultans of Swing!'"
"What?" I said. Really, that's what I said. I had never listened to the Dire Straits song "Sultans of Swing" before that day.
"I guess you know it." he said.
"I'm surprised you know it." Jimmy said.
"And I'm surprised you know it." Sheen said.
"I thought of a song." I said, right before playing the Elvis Presley classic "Love Me Tender." Yeah, I know it's a cliché song to sing to your girlfriend. But you know what, I didn't care then, and I don't care now. I didn't pick that song for any other reason other than that it expressed how I felt about Tootie. I was a little nervous, since the last time AJ and Tootie had heard me sing was when I was ten and couldn't sing a note. But I was able to get through those nerves and deliver the song. I remember looking at Tootie as I sang, and how she looked at me as though I was the only person in the room. When I reached the end of the song, I looked up and noticed that everyone on the ship had gathered around to watch. This includes Crocker.
Tootie then said "I… wow."
"Yeah." Cindy said.
"Timmy, that was amazing." Jimmy said.
"Very cool Tim." Gary said.
"Oh, oh, I have another request." Sheen said.
"Please don't say 'Money for Nothing.'" Jimmy said.
"Jimmy, I'm not that dumb." Sheen said. He turned to me, "Can you do 'When Will I Be Loved?'" Ah, yes, "When Will I Be Loved." Classic song. I, of course, didn't know the original version by the Everly Brothers. I knew the Linda Ronstadt version. And I loved the idea of playing it. But in order to do that, I needed an electric guitar.
However, before I could get one, Jorgen said "Hold on! I have an important announcement to make." We all turned our attention to Jorgen. "Normally, this would be the part where most of you would have your memories wiped of this whole adventure." That's right, I forgot that Jorgen was supposed to do that. I know Crocker had mentioned it earlier, but I probably wanted to forget about it. Now I had to deal with the fact that most of my crew would no longer remember our adventure. Or, at the very least, they would remember it totally differently. But then, Jorgen surprised us. "However, Da Rules have been updated. If you hail from a universe without fairies, like Jimmy and his friends, your memories aren't wiped. As for the people from this universe on this ship not named Timmy Turner, we will only wile your memories if you try to reveal the existence of fairies."
"You can count on me to keep it a secret." Crocker said. "I know what that memory tech can do to humans with too much exposure, I don't want to get any uglier."
"Good. Because we'll know if you do. We fairies are like Santa Claus in a way. But unlike Santa, we don't give you coal if you're bad, we scramble your memories like I scramble the fairies." Jorgen said.
"Thanks for the announcement Jorgen. I wish I had an electric guitar and an amplifier." I said.
"Would you like it in pink?" he said.
"You read my mind." I said. Then poof, not only did I have the electric guitar, there was also a bass guitar and a drum kit. There was even a second electric guitar and amps for all the instruments. So, I said "Who wants to play with me?"
Sheen immediately ran to the bass, yelling "Me!" Yes, that's all he said.
"Do you know how to play?" I said.
"Yeah, I was in a band with Carl and Jimmy. We were The Llama Lords of Science." Jimmy walked over to the other electric guitar and picked it up. Carl sat behind the drums.
As Jimmy tuned his guitar, I said "I didn't know you were in a band. Or that you could play an instrument."
"When we formed the band, I invented instruments that could play the music of the player's mind." he said.
"What happened to the band?" I said.
"We fought, broke up, and the instruments got destroyed before the talent show we were in. We got onstage with a different act, and got last place. I vowed we'd reunite, but I never got around to remaking those instruments." he said.
"But, I liked the idea of playing the drums, so I started practicing." Carl said.
"And playing bass was the one thing I could concentrate on." Sheen said.
"As for me, I found that playing guitar was relaxing for me." Jimmy said.
"Like me and cooking?" I said.
"Just like that, yes." he said.
"So, we're playing 'When Will I Be Loved,' right?" I said.
"I requested it." Sheen said.
"It's my favorite song by Linda Ronstadt." Carl said.
"And it's a song I could relate to for a time." Jimmy said.
"You and me both." I said.
Once we were all tuned up, Sheen said "Ladies and gentlemen, after four years away, The Llama Lords of Science are back!" And with that, we started playing "When Will I Be Loved" in the style of Mrs. Linda Ronstadt. Considering the fact we had never rehearsed together, we really sounded like polished trash. But you know, we had a lot of fun. We sang songs, ate food, then eventually in my backyard. It was the afternoon, and strangely quiet. We all got off of the ship, before the ship went into stealth mode. It transformed itself to look like a tool shed.
Jorgen said "Timmy Turner, thank you for saving the universe, and more importantly, thank you for saving Axel."
"You're welcome. I'm glad I could do that." I said.
"Well, we're going home now. Jorgen is taking me to meet his wife." Axel said. Jorgen and Axel then disappeared.
Professor Calamitous then came over to us and said "Well Neutron, looks like it's time for us to go home. Or, if Turner doesn't mind, he could wish me home and you and your friends could say goodbye first."
"I like your idea." I said. I then wished that Professor Calamitous was back home.
Vicky then said "I'd like to go home too. I'm sure Mark's worried about me."
"Mark?" Tootie said.
"Mark, my boyfriend." Vicky said.
"You're dating Mark Chang?" I said.
"No, I haven't seen him in years." she said.
"Oh, well, good to know you aren't single." I said.
"I'll take that as a compliment. Can someone send me home?" she said. I wished Vicky was home, and she was transported back to her home in Texas.
"There's no need for me to make a wish, I'll just call Juandissimo." Remy said before doing just that. Then poof, he was gone. Now the only ones left were Jimmy and his friends, me, my friends, Mr. Crocker, Dark Laser, Flipsie, and Gary.
"So, what's going to happen to me?" Gary said.
"Well, I did talk to Jorgen. He agrees with me that you do not belong on Unwish Island." I said.
"So, I get to stay here?" he said.
"Yes, you do." I said. Gary then hugged me. This was the second time he did it, and I was glad he felt comfortable doing it.
"You have no idea how happy this makes me." he said.
"As for me and Flipsie, I think our home is elsewhere." Dark Laser said. Gary looked at him with a wounded expression.
He then said "Do you mean it?"
"I'm sorry Gary. You may belong here, but I don't. I belong in space, and so does Flipsie. You have been a great friend, and I will miss you." Dark Laser said. It was clear that Gary was not happy with this.
Through tears, he said "I'll miss you too." He then looked at Flipsie. "I think I'll miss you most of all Flipsie."
"Arf, arf. Arf, arf. Arf, arf" Flipsie said as he performed one final quadruple backflip.
"Alright, fine, I'll miss Dark Laser most of all." Gary said. Then suddenly, Dark Laser's ship appeared.
He said "Good bye Turner. I never thanked you for bringing me to life." He then got on his ship with Flipsie and flew away. The rest of us decided to walk to the front of the house.
Crocker then said "I'm going to the police station, since my car was most likely impounded. I'll get a cab. See you in September Mr. Turner. I will be grading you fairly. So if you get an F, it's not personal." He then started walking down the road, probably wanting to get out of my neighborhood.
Jimmy and his friends turned to us and Jimmy said "Well Timmy, this adventure has been chaotic, dangerous, reckless, but a lot of fun."
"I'm glad you and your friends could join us." I said.
"Timmy, we're your friends too." Libby said.
"Libby's right." Sheen said.
"She is. It was great to meet you all." Tootie said.
"Likewise." Cindy said.
"Just do me a favor." Jimmy said.
"What's that?" I said.
"Pay us a visit for the fun of it. It'd be nice to just hang out with you." he said.
"Sounds like a plan. How does next week sound?" AJ said.
"That would be wonderful. I'd love to talk science with you." Jimmy said.
"And I'd like to talk karate with Cindy and Libby." Tootie said.
"So would I." Trixie said. It looked like we were about to have a pleasant send off.
But just then, Francis yelled "Turner!" I turned to face him, because I couldn't believe he would be dumb enough— no, wait, this is Francis we're talking about. He was dumb enough to try and bother me yet again. As he approached us, I was starting to feel mad enough to cause a literal explosion. I kept myself calm so I wouldn't get arrested for public indecency.
So instead, I simply yelled "Are you freaking kidding me? Go away Francis!"
"You got lucky with that last fight." he said. "I want a rematch." Did he not know the definition of insanity? Just as I was preparing to fight him one more time, Jimmy walked over to him. "Oh, wow, fresh nerd meat!"
"Hi Francis, you don't remember me, do you?" Jimmy said.
"Hey, you're the weird science kid that looks like Turner with a big head." Francis said.
"Of course you noticed the head. Listen carefully Francis, because I'm only going to say this once. Stop bothering Timmy. If you don't, I'll stop you myself." Jimmy said.
"Oh yeah, and how are you going to do that you big headed freak." Francis said.
"What did you just call me?" Jimmy said.
"A big headed freak." Francis said. Jimmy's mood completely shifted from slightly ticked off to subtlety pissed in an instant.
He then said "I thought so." before he pulled a weird gun out of his hypercube and shot him. Francis then disappeared.
"You killed him?" I said.
"Relax. He's not dead." he said. Seconds later, Francis reappeared.
"What the hell was that?" Francis said as he shivered like a freezing dog.
"That was death. If you would like to continue living, I'd suggest leaving Timmy alone." Jimmy said "What do you say?"
"Yeah, no problem." Francis said right before running away in fear.
I approached Jimmy and said "Seriously, what did you do to him?"
"I temporarily sent him to a simulation of the freezer in the Candy Bar." Jimmy said.
"You know what, as long as he stops messing with me, I'm fine with it." I said. Jimmy then walk over to his friends and opened up a portal to Retroville.
As his friends went through the portal, Jimmy looked at me one more time and said "Goodbye for now Timmy." He then stepped through the portal, and it closed seconds later. Just when I thought I was going to have a peaceful goodbye with my friends, I could see Veronica, Tad and Chad running down the street.
Once they reached us, Veronica said "See, I told you Trixie was with Timmy and his friends."
"Bus Seat, do you know that kidnapping is a crime?" Tad said.
"Yes, I do. And did you know that accusing me of a crime earns you a slap in the face?" I said before slapping Tad. I could tell that Tad wanted to hit me back, but Chad stopped him.
"Nice shot Empty Bus Seat." Chad said. Did he want some of what Tad got?
"I've known you since kindergarten, and you still don't call me by my real name. You two are pathetic." I said.
"Says the loser with no girlfriend." Tad said.
"I have a girlfriend." I said.
"Pining after Trixie doesn't count." Chad said.
"I know. It's not her." I said. I looked at Tootie and said "Her name is Kim. But I know her better as Tootie." Tootie then walked over to me and held my hand.
"Of course you losers got together. But you know, you empty bus seats don't make a full one." Tad said.
It was here that Trixie reached her breaking point, yelling "Stop calling him that!" Everyone was stunned, especially Tad and Chad. "And don't refer to Tootie as an 'empty bus seat' either. You guys are so lame, it's embarrassing being your friend."
"You don't mean that, do you?" Chad said.
"I do, and I don't ever want to hang out with you ever again. Timmy and his friends are my friends too. They like me for who I am." she said. AJ then walked over to her and kissed her. This was a bold move, and to my surprise, it paid off.
AJ said to her "Sorry, I should have asked you first. I don't know if you heard last night, but I have a crush on you."
"That's pretty obvious AJ. And I won't lie, I have one on you too." Trixie said.
"Aw, this is sweet." Veronica said with no hint of sarcasm.
"You like this loser?" Tad said.
"AJ isn't a loser." Trixie said.
"I don't believe this." Chad said.
"Well, believe it. Now, go away, both of you." she said. Tad and Chad walked away before their egos got more bruised.
"I'll see you later Trixie. Have fun with your new friends." Veronica said. She then left, which only confused me. After all, this was Veronica. I was surprised she did 't freak out about me holding Tootie's hand or Trixie getting kissed by AJ. But, I guess some of her crazy was gone. It didn't take long for Trixie to start walking home.
As she started walking, AJ caught up with her and said "Can I walk with you? My house is really close to yours."
"I'd love that AJ." Trixie said. They then started walking away. Not a second passed before Chloe walked out of my house and over to us.
"Chester, you're back!" Chloe said.
"We are, yeah. You wouldn't believe what we did." Chester said.
"Oh come on, I was a Squirrely Scout too, I've seen some crazy things camping." she said.
"We destroyed the World's Treasure?" he said. Yep, he just said out loud. Granted, he didn't mention fairies, so he was in the clear.
"The World's Treasure? What are you talking about?" she said. I couldn't tell of she was serious or if she playing dumb.
"It was a fairy artifact that—" was all Chester got out before Chloe said "Shhh, I know. I just wanted to make sure 'others' weren't listening."
"So, you know?" he said.
"Yeah, I do. Jerry told me about it." she said. Jerry was her fairy, just so you know.
"It was awesome. Scary, but awesome." he said.
"You should have been there." Tootie said. Chloe looked us, then saw Tootie was holding my hand and clearly put two and two together. And no, it didn't equal fish.
She then looked at me and said "Looks like you finally told Tootie how you feel about her."
"I guess it was obvious." I said.
She looked back at Chester and said "You wanna come over and tell me about what happened?" Chester nodded, and they both started walking to her house.
Gary then said "Boy, this brings me back to the old days. You know, because everyone could see me, I guess." Suddenly, Tootie got a notification on her phone.
She looked at the screen and said "I got a voicemail from my mom."
The voicemail said "Tootie, your father and I won a free trip to Paris. We'll be back next Saturday. There's money on your pillow. By the time you get back from the big afterparty at Missy's house, we'll be gone. See you when we get back, love you sweetie." We both looked at each other with a confused expression. Not over Missy having an afterparty, which was for the championship game. It was the fact that they happened to win a free week long trip to Paris. It seemed so sudden.
I then got a text message from AJ that said "Looks like my parents are in Paris. Something about a free trip there. Trixie's parents got one too." The wheels in my head were starting to turn. Chester and Chloe then came back over.
Chester then said "Hey, I got a voicemail from my dad."
"Free trip to Paris for a week?" Tootie said.
"Sounds like you got one too." Chloe said, before finally noticing Gary. "Who are you?"
He looked at her and said "I'm Gary. Tim's former imaginary friend. And you must be Chloe?"
"Yep, that's me." she said.
"He told me a lot about you. But he never mentioned how pretty you look." he said. Oh my god, Garry was hitting on Chloe. Chester was not a fan, and Gary could see it. "Sorry, not trying to cause problems."
"Well, we better get going. I'll see you later Timmy." she said. Chester and Chloe then walked away again as Tootie, Gary and I walked into my house.
Once inside, Gary said "Something's off. How is it possible that all your parents suddenly got a free trip that lasts exactly one week?"
"Oh, the internet." Tootie said.
"That's my line." I said.
"I thought it was 'What could possibly go wrong?'" she said.
"I didn't know he had a line." he said.
"It was us." Wanda said as she and Cosmo floated over to us.
"Yeah, it was Wanda's idea. That way no one would question why you weren't home." Cosmo said.
"So, I guess that means we have some time to ourselves." I said to Tootie.
"Yeah, looks like it." Tootie said to me.
"And I'm the third wheel." Gary said.
Poof then came over and said "I'm here too."
Gary walked over to my fairy godbrother and said "I see that. You wanna play with us?" It was cool seeing Gary grow into an actual cool person. Poof nodded, and he joined us. We spend the remainder of the day just eating pizza and playing video games, while Cosmo and Wanda watched and occasionally granted wishes to avoid magical build up. And you know, of all the crazy and exciting things that happened to us on our adventure, this is what I always like to remember. Just me, Tootie, Gary, and Poof, all of us having a great time. Having fun with friends and family I love is something that will stick with forever.
But as a whole, this was one of my favorite adventures. Maybe not the best one, but one of the most important. I was able to bring my friends into their biggest adventure, had my Retroville friends become friends with my friends, and even saw a new side of some former enemies. I was even able to reconnect with Gary and become friends with Trixie Tang. But most importantly of all, I finally told Tootie how I felt about her. My life was not perfect, but was more than good enough. I still had a lot of problems to deal with, so Cosmo and Wanda were still going to be with me for a while. When I finally went to bed, I was finally able to sleep in my own bed again. And I slept peacefully, knowing that those past few days were the most exciting days I ever had, and that I had them with my friends along the way.
