A towering pine tree stood at the center of the town square, adorned with shimmering ornaments, sparkling tinsel, and ribbons in every color imaginable. At its peak, a star rested, unlit, waiting for its moment to shine.
Citizens of the kingdom gathered, bundled in cozy scarves and hats, their excitement building as twilight settled in. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad stood near the stage, their usual roles as ceremonial lighters passed on this year to a new honoree.

Toadsworth handed you a golden scepter—the Tree Lighter's Rod, intricately decorated with holly and mistletoe. "With this," he said, "you hold the magic of the season. You, Reginald, will light the way to our holiday cheer!"
The crowd's cheers were deafening as you raised the rod. A hush fell over Toad Town as everyone held their breath in anticipation.
With a flick of your wrist, the rod sparkled, sending a cascade of twinkling light up to the star atop the tree. In an instant, the entire tree burst into a dazzling display of colorful lights, casting a warm glow over the town square.
