Chapter 2
Beach Walk
Izzy was at home, binging some show on Netflix, bored out of her mind. She looked out her window, towards the beach outside her house. The evening waves lapping against the sand, the sun almost setting over the sea's horizon. She decided to go on a walk, whilst Julia was still asleep. She hadn't woken up since the night before, which was normal due to the fact Julia spent most of the night before crying herself to sleep whilst Izzy was there trying desperately to comfort her. She left a note on her kitchen counter in case Julia woke up and proceeded to exit her house. She crossed the road separating her house and the beach and began walking along the sand.
As she walked, she looked around at the people who were having fun and relaxing. she felt a little lonely, seeing others having fun with their friends. She remembered the time her, Julia and Neo would go out to the beach together, but times and people change, and people like her had to adapt to said change. Her mind had once again drifted back to Ramona, she had no way of finding her. She had scanned Instagram for her name but came up empty. Izzy refused to give up however, she just needed a new plan. Just as her mind wandered off, she ran into a familiar face.
"Neo?! What are you doing here?" Izzy asked.
"I was on my way home" Neo signed.
Izzy rolled her eyes, it was obvious Neo just woke up from her 'eventful night'. In fact, when she tried calling Neo for help with Julia it sent her to voicemail. Which was silent, seeing as Neo couldn't speak, though there was a time when Neo's voicemail was an AI voice Neo installed for her voicemail, but removed it due to how annoying Izzy and Julia deemed it.
"You missed Julia ranting about how much of a dick Andrew is" Izzy said.
"His sister?" Neo signed.
"yeah, how'd you know?" Izzy asked, confused as to how Neo knew this despite receiving no news on the matter until now.
"Saw both Andrew and Ashley about 10 minutes ago" Neo signed.
The two began to walk together, catching up on what happened the night before between Andrew and Julia. Neo also shared some things she predicted. as both her and Julia went to the same high school as him. From her knowledge, Andrew was often rumoured to have a… very close connection with his sister, not only that, but also there were rumours saying that Andrew and Ashley (his sister's name) had murdered someone at a young age when there was a disappearance of someone named Nina. But the main theory Neo had was that Andrew had dated Julia as a way to knock away rumours and suspicions about him and Ashley. All this was stuff Neo had managed to sign quite easily thanks to her knowledge of sign language, she can sign fast enough as if it was normal speech. As they talked, Izzy made her mistake.
"I also met this girl—" She began before Neo put her hand over her mouth, wearing her signature smirk.
"A girl? Tell me more, now" Neo signed sternly.
"We met at the party and talked a little before Julia dragged me away" Izzy said, slightly annoyed at Neo's methods of getting her to shut up.
"Did you at least get her number?" Neo signed, to which Izzy shook her head.
Neo frowned, before placing a finger on her chin as if in thought. After a few seconds of silence, she looked up at Izzy.
"I might now someone who knows her" Neo signed.
"You do?!" Izzy asked a little too enthusiastically.
"Old friend of mine from college" Neo signed.
Izzy smiled before frowning. Knowing Neo, there probably was a catch for this information.
"What's the catch?" Izzy asked suspiciously.
Neo shook her head and waved her hands as if to say there's no catch, causing Izzy to raise an eyebrow at her.
"No catch? Ok then… when can I have it?" Izzy asked.
"tomorrow" Neo signed.
(Neo POV)
After Neo left Izzy, she headed towards a certain hose she knew all too well. She also had her parasol with her in case things escalated… She reached the door and knocked. However the door was already open and just as she opened it further, she opened her parasol and blocked a handful of shurikens thrown at her. Her parasol's canopy however wasn't just a normal canopy, it was infused with an element that made it completely immune to most bullet types, she could basically block a shotgun blast with it. This caused the shurikens to bounce off the parasol as if they had hit concrete.
She closed her parasol and entered the house with a scoff. She activated another function she had installed in her parasol, which was a small point of a rapier blade that popped out the tip of her parasol. She walked into the house, which was in quite the messy state. She raised her parasol to block an attack coming at her that she barely noticed in the corner of her eyes.
"What are you doing here?" said a female voice Neo knew all too well.
Neo kicked the person away and charged at them, slashing them with the blade tip of her parasol, which was blocked by the female person's own weapon, which was a katana. Both of them stepped back from each other.
"Hello Roxy" Neo signed.
Roxy, AKA Roxanne Richter, AKA Ramona's fourth evil ex, glared at Neo, raising her katana and pointing it at her.
"What do you want?" Roxy hissed, glaring at Neo and gripping her katana tighter.
"Ramona flowers's phone number" Neo signed.
Roxy looked at Neo in disbelief and anger, anger towards the name specifically. Her past with Ramona was painful to remember. Roxy sheathed her katana and took out her phone, looking for the number.
"Nice block by the way…" Roxy said.
Neo smirked and bowed, a common gesture of hers to say thanks rather than signing thank you.
"What do you need it for anyways? You're straight anyways aren't you?" Roxy asked.
"I am, the number is for a friend who fell in love with Ramona" Neo signed with a roll of her eyes, another gesture she did often.
"The league won't be happy about this, Y'know that right?" Roxy said.
Neo sighed, she had forgotten entirely about the League of evil exes of Ramona flowers. The league was made because all 7 of the exes can't get over the breakup. Though Ramona never took the league that seriously. Roxy eventually found the number and handed her phone to Neo, who had her own phone out and copied down the number.
"How good of a fighter is she?" Roxy asked.
"She can't fight if her life depended on it, she's too weak and innocent to be fighting seven evil exes millions of times stronger than her" Neo signed sadly.
"I'm not gonna fight some girl who can't defend herself… I have more dignity than that" Roxy sighed, to which Neo nodded in appreciation.
After a while of the two catching up, Neo left Roxy's house. She had completed her objective, but now she was unsure. If Izzy somehow managed to go on a date with Ramona, she would have to fight all the exes minus Roxy. And knowing how weak Izzy was… there wasn't much that could be done. Neo was genuinely worried for Izzy, she could be hurt or worse… killed.
The sun began to set over the watery horizon, making a beautiful beach scenery. All that Neo could do… was try convince Izzy to change her mind about Ramona. It was very unlikely to even work… but it was worth a shot. However knowing Izzy… she wouldn't let go of a crush like this that easily.
