Chapter 52: The Queen of the Saiyans
"I need you to take me to hell." Nappa said with a straight face.
Goku just stared at him for a moment trying to figure out if he was serious or not. "Wait...really?" Goku asked shocked and a little bit confused about why the Saiyan General would want to go there.
"Yes, I think it is the only way for me to go Super Saiyan." Nappa started. "I need to reopen some old wounds I guess. I mean, you saw how Trunks reacted and whatever tore up his family wasn't even around this time." Nappa continued explaining his tone utterly serious. "But I don't want to have to die again, otherwise I'd just ask Vegeta to help me out, that's why we need to ask your friend, King Ki or whatever and make sure I won't be trapped down there or something." Nappa finished.
"Uh alright if you say so." Goku said trusting the Saiyan General's judgement as he grabbed onto his shoulder and focused on the location of his mentor's world.
In an instant they were there, and Nappa was allowed to take in a sight that few beings ever go to see, Snake way expanding out below King Kai's over-crowded world. Dozens of human fighters were training across the planet, victims of the carnage from when King Cold attacked the Earth. Most were so engaged in their various tasks they didn't notice the new arrivals.
"So this is the after-life huh?" Nappa asked taking it all in. It definitely wasn't what he was expecting.
"Yup, this is King Kai's world." Goku responded cheerily, "And over there is Snake way. I had to run the entire thing to get here to train with King Kai to prepare for when you and Vegeta came to Earth." He explained, his smile never wavering as he made his way over towards the only building on the small planet.
Nappa just shook his head, and chuckled slightly to himself. Today was just another example of why he doubted he'd ever be able to understand the Earth born Saiyan.
Inside the small building was one of the more bizarre beings he had come across in his 50 plus years of traveling the galaxy, a round blue insect like creature fast asleep in a chair.
Immediately Goku went about waking his master up. "HEY KING KAI!" He shouted once he got close, startling the watcher of the Northern quadrant of the galaxy.
"Gaaaah!" The blue deity shouted as he fell from his chair and hit the ground with a solid thud.
Immediately Nappa face palmed, he should've known Kakarot would make things unnecessarily difficult for him.
"Goku! How many times have I told you, you can't just pop in here whenever you feel like it!" King Kai scolded his star pupil while simultaneously rubbing the rapidly forming lump on the back of his head.
"I know King Kai and I'm sorry but it is really important this time." Goku explained.
That was when King Kai noticed Nappa standing in the background for the first time, his heart rate immediately picking up. "Damn it Goku!" he shouted as the countless rules that had been violated just by having someone like Nappa, who had already been condemned to hell once allowed on one of the sacred worlds of the Kais, flashed through his mind. In addition to the fact his own life could be in danger. "Do you have any idea what you've done? How many rules you've violated by bringing him here? King Yemma is going to have a fit." He continued.
"Don't worry I don't plan on staying. I just have a few questions...your...uhhh...majesty." Nappa said unsure exactly what to call King Kai.
The blue deity was immediately taken aback by the Saiyan General, whose long history of wanton destruction he had witnessed for decades suddenly being polite to him. It was an unexpected turn, but not an undesired one. "Oh...fine then...ask away…" King Kai muttered too surprised to answer any other way.
"Ok first things first; am I going to get trapped down there if Kakarot takes me to hell?" Nappa asked point blank.
King Kai cleared his throat, "Not unless you die down there. Otherwise Goku can bring you back at any time." King Kai explained.
"Good and one more question. Will I be able to see those who died down there, like Frieza or King Vegeta or my family?" Nappa's face was one of utmost seriousness, it looked as if not hearing the answer he wanted would spell doom for King Kai's entire planet.
King Kai took a step backwards wiping sweat from his brow, "Well...it might take you a little while to find them of course hell is a big place but Frieza and King Vegeta at the very least are for sure down there, you'd have to see King Yemma about your family though." silently King Kai hoped that was the answer Nappa was hoping for.
Nappa let out a sigh. "Good enough. Alright Kakarot, let's get going."
"Oh one more thing, there is no food in hell." King Kai decided to add hoping to avoid Saiyan vengeance later on.
Nappa paused for a moment, "Change of plans, back to Earth for supplies, then we begin our invasion." A spark shining with a hint of excitement.
An hour later the necessary arrangements had been made and they had arrived.
Where they were now was in no way how Nappa remembered it during his brief first trip to the underworld. Instead of swimming in an ocean of the tortured souls of the millions he had personally deposited here, what appeared instead was nothing more than an endless barren wasteland outside of the blood fountain at the entrance.
"Ok here we are. If you need anything just let King Kai know." The Earth born Saiyan said. When Nappa nodded in response he vanished to restart his own training.
Then silently Nappa took to the air his mind reaching out for something he had never felt before, but something he was confident he would recognize when he found it.
It took the Saiyan General nearly an hour to notice the ominous buildup of haze in the distance. At first he mistook it for a storm brewing, a welcomed change to the otherwise static landscape. Soon it became apparent though that it was it was something different.
A few miles out he began to sense the air around him boiling with energy in the form of the haze. Somehow though he could tell it was focused solely on him.
A few seconds later his blood ran cold as a familiar sight spread out in front of him. It was the same sight he had seen as his life was fading away on Namek, millions of hands reaching out towards him towards him, it was enough to stop the Saiyan General in his tracks for a second, a cold sweat breaking out over his entire body, before shaking his head, his senses returning. Immediately his aura flashed around himself brighter than before. "You want a piece of me!" He shouted as he picked up speed.
As soon as he reached the hands he pulled his aura back as close to himself as he possibly could turning himself into a living bullet as he began to drill into it the individual hands vaporizing as they attempted to grasp his glowing skin.
As soon as Nappa reached the heart of the cloud of the spirits of those he'd personally sent to this endless barren wasteland, he unleashed a massive explosive wave out in all directions scattering the cloud in all directions.
He didn't even stop to admire his handy work, he only could laugh that he let those weak fools get in his head to begin with.
Time stretched on but the only way to measure it was by the occasional rumble of his Saiyan appetite. So far as best as Nappa could estimate 2 days had passed; he had seen thousands of denizens of hell and even learned some about the eternal plain he was exploring through some impromptu interrogations, the few times he actually managed to catch his onlookers before the shrank back into the shadows.
Nappa's entire body froze as he stared down at the sprawling slums extending out from a central cave complex. Most of the building were wrecked beyond being habitability. The thousands of scattered, haggard inhabitants though left no doubt in Nappa's mind that he had finally found the proud warrior race he had been looking for. He had finally found his people.
Slowly he descended into the shanty town and noticed that instead of being challenged upon arrival as would be typical of a group of Saiyans, or a crowd gathering with curiosity of a new arrival, the entire area began to rapidly clear out. Shrieks of terror could be heard as they entire lot of Saiyans scattered like frightened sheep, their once vaunted Saiyan Pride nothing more than a long distant memory.
"Come out you cowards. I'm Saiyan." Nappa shouted though he wasn't sure if that held any meaning any more to the frightened animals he saw before him.
Slowly the ashamed former warriors made their ways back out from the crevices they had hurried into some with distrustful looks on their faces, others curious at the new arrival.
"Just who are you anyway?" One particularly brave young warrior shouted from the back, for once not having to care about the fact that every other denizen of hell routinely killed the Saiyans for sport.
Nappa's already sour mood at their previous display, turned down right dangerous. "Me? You, want to know who I am? Look at yourselves! I leave you shit for brains alone for a couple of decades and look at you. Your nothing but a bunch of sniveling cowards scared of your shadows, too stupid to recognize the commander of the Saiyan army!"
A stunned silence fell over the crowd as they some of the older Saiyans realized that Nappa did vaguely resemble a bald version of the general that had lead them on many campaigns against the Tuffles.
"So what, you're dead like the rest of us. Why should we listen to you just because you managed to live a couple of more decades?" One of the Saiyans who had managed to retain some semblance of their kind's former pride after their decades in hell.
Not even bothering to power up to a real fraction of his true might Nappa vanished from their collective view, only to appear again, his fist embedded in the now unconscious, dead Saiyan's stomach. "First off, I'm not dead I'm here on an important mission, sent by Prince Vegeta himself. Secondly I think it is safe to assume I'm the most powerful Saiyan down here at the moment."
Everyone was silent for a moment unsure whether they really wanted to contradict the new arrival or not. Regardless of whether they believed his claim, it was clear he was on a level well beyond anything they had managed to achieve during their short violent lives.
Finally one of the Saiyan elite spoke up deciding it was best to appease the newly arrived Saiyan as best as possible, "I take it you wish to meet with the King?" He asked his voice slightly less confident than was expected of a Saiyan elite.
"Yeah I do and my family while I'm here." Nappa responded nonchalantly, preparing to be lead to the makeshift palace.
A strange look crossed the elite's face as if he was trying to think of the best way to tell the General his family was dead. Nappa almost laughed inside his head at that considering where they currently found themselves. But as the silence stretched beyond just a second of hesitation Nappa began to wonder how he could have clearance to meet with King Vegeta but not his own family, not that anyone he had come across since entering hell was in position to deny him anything he wanted.
Finally his patience was its end "Come on out with it!" Nappa demanded, as the Saiyan elite still stood still a flustered look on his face.
"I think it'd be best to let the King explain sir." He finally said meekly shrinking back as if expecting a blow.
Nappa just shook his head in disgust. The Saiyans around him had less pride than the Earthlings he ran into. It was getting downright pathetic. The fact that King Vegeta allowed things to get this bad even with his limited power level was a downright disgrace. He had never expected King Vegeta to fail so miserably at sustaining their ways after keeping them afloat all throughout the war with the Tuffles and their enslavement to Frieza. "Just lead the way." He finally managed to mutter not attempting to hide the disgust in his voice.
It was just short flight over the sprawling slums before they arrived at a natural cave formation with over a dozen royal guards lining the outside of it.
After a moment's discussion they were permitted inside.
Instead of the complex cavern Nappa was expecting though what waited beyond was a small simple rock tunnel barely offering more protection than the shanty houses surrounding it.
There sitting in the middle of the cave on a simple stone chair was one of Nappa's longtime heroes and friends.
27 years, 9 months, 2 days, that's how many days King Vegeta had spent in hell. This was one of the very few in which he honestly could say he there was a chance he would be able to find any sort of enjoyment out of.
"Nappa…I see you've finally joined us down here... though not in the way I always imagined..." King Vegeta called out with a tired smile, his former arrogance seemingly eroded away by the decades of hardship he had endured in the barren wastelands of hell
Nappa's matching grin was much larger as he put aside the fact his people had degenerated so far from their ideals since he had last seen them and focused on the fact he was seeing his friend again after all these years, they could deal with the discipline issues later. Immediately he kneeled and bowed his head low. "It is good to see you again."
Immediately King Vegeta motioned for Nappa to rise and began speaking once more. "I know whatever your reasons in coming here must be important but before we get to that, please tell me about my son." King Vegeta pleaded in a tone that Nappa could scarcely imagine him using last they met.
Nappa's grin immediately fell, causing King Vegeta to suspect Nappa's mission might mean his son was in mortal danger. His next words though surprised the King "Just what the hell happened to you all since you got here. You've all lost your Saiyan Pride. Hell the damn Earthling woman who's supposed to be Vegeta's queen has more pride than I've seen any of you display so far. You're acting like a bunch of meek little cowards scared of your own shadows. I saw elites scatter like rats when I landed." Nappa growled unable to hold his tongue any longer.
Vegeta let out an exhausted sigh and sat back down. Although Nappa hadn't answered his questions in detail like he had hoped he did give him enough information to satisfy his curiosity for the moment. His son was alive and apparently was to be wed to a Saiyan-like female, it appears his line would continue even if it was a line of half-breeds. He could only imagine what they would think about that if they ever learned of his son's marriage.
King Vegeta's voice was tired when he finally responded to Nappa's question "hell happened to us Nappa. I hate to admit it but we're among the weakest fighters here forced to keep our bodies as punishment. We can feel hunger, pain, and death but can never grow stronger, the Zenkais never come. Even when we transform into our Oozaru form there are a seemingly endless stream of fighters more powerful than we are-" The King's fist tightened in frustration at his own weakness. He was about to continue when Nappa spoke up.
"Ok I get it." Nappa said. Finally understanding how his people could get into such a situation. Without their Zenkai ability the Saiyan warriors would never have been able to last long enough to even beat the Tuffles let alone fighters likes some of the monsters he himself had sent down in the last few years. "So you wanted to know about Vegeta right?" Nappa explained everything that had happened since they had parted. The best part for Nappa was watching the King's face shine with Pride as he recounted how Vegeta ascended to the legendary status of Super Saiyan and avenged their people.
"You didn't look as surprised as I was expecting." Nappa commented after King Vegeta finished laughing at Nappa's description of Frieza's demise.
"I actually heard that Vegeta had ascended and killed that smug bastard already." King Vegeta said with a wry smile.
"And how'd how you managed that?" Nappa asked.
"Cause as soon as Frieza died he came here for revenge." King Vegeta said his tone turning serious.
"How'd you deal with that?" Nappa asked. Knowing Frieza, once he made you his toy he didn't let you go easily.
"We couldn't do anything. He tortured us for months on end. They dealt with him when they passed through again." By the tone King Vegeta used it was clear he didn't think much better of them than he did of Frieza himself. "At least they took him with them as a pet of sorts when they left. Mostly to piss off King Cold I think." He added with a chuckle.
Nappa just tilted his head having no clue who King Vegeta was talking about. "Who are they?"
King Vegeta realized his mistake, "That's right you just arrived, I haven't explained it yet while here we met our forefathers. They are the Saiyans of legend, the Super Saiyans."
Nappa was silent for a moment as he let it all sink in. 'This might be easier than I thought. If there are other Super Saiyans they might know some trick to it that we've missed.' He thought, 'If not it sounds like there will be plenty of choices of sparring partners.' "Well that lines up nicely with my mission. I was brought here to do whatever I needed to do to become a Super Saiyan." Nappa explained how they were warned of the impending attack by the Androids by Prince Vegeta's future son and his guardian.
"I don't think you're going to find much help with them though. They look down on us as failed Saiyans. We're the 'descendants of the cowards who fled the greatest battle our race ever fought. As they like to remind us every time they see us. They see the fact that none of us can transform as punishment from some ancient deity blocking our path to becoming Super Saiyans, and refuse to see any Saiyan who hasn't transformed into the legend as anything more than at best a low class." King Vegeta said with a sour tone.
Nappa thought for a minute before sighing. "I knew it couldn't be that easy. Back to the original plan I guess. I'll meet up with my family for a while and try to rebuild some Saiyan culture here while I continue my training and hope I hit a breakthrough." Finally stood up from the stone chair, which looked much too small to support his massive frame, and began to stretch his back. Expecting King Vegeta to give the order for his family to be brought to him immediately, or at the very least to give him directions to their current whereabouts.
King Vegeta sat uncomfortably silent for a moment as he was suddenly reminded of something important. "Nappa…" He started with a somewhat dire tone.
Nappa's eyes immediately locked onto the King, the last time he had heard him use such a tone was when he had been ordered to guard Prince Vegeta while he was Frieza's hostage.
"I'm sorry, I know you think that visiting with you family will give you some insight to unlocking the transformation; but I can only arrange for you to visit your son at the moment your wife...well she was taken as a trophy by the Super Saiyans one of the times they passed through…" King Vegeta said with an uncomfortable look on his face.
Nappa just stared at the King for a moment before his face contorted into a snarl "And you wait until now to tell me about it!" He shouted his veins bulging from his forehead.
Immediately Royal Guard flooded the room intent on separating the potential threat from the King. Immediately though they were all sent flying backwards and left pinned helplessly against the walls by the pressure boiling off the enraged Nappa.
King Vegeta's felt the same feeling of helplessness rush through him that always arrived when facing one of the monsters that seemingly constantly tormented him in hell. Without a doubt his longtime friend had become a monster on the same scale of many of the same warriors that crushed his people's spirits as easily as they did their bodies over the years.
"Tell me where she is!" Nappa shouted for the first time in his life ordering the King.
King Vegeta hesitated just a moment before responding "You know they'll kill you. They toyed with Frieza as if he was nothing and fought evenly with his father. Besides there are thousands of Super Saiyans in their army. Although you're much more powerful than any Saiyan I ever saw while I was alive. For all I know you've surpassed Frieza himself, but if you go up against them they will kill you. For Vegeta's sake do not anything rash" King Vegeta said solemnly.
"Tell me." Nappa entire world was slowly being dyed red with rage at the thought of whatever those bastards were doing to his wife. He would kill them all and then kill them again and again. And then he'd let Latice have a turn finishing off each bastard that so much as looked at her wrong. Slowly he felt something sparking inside him, as if he was going to explode with his fury. He had failed his wife once, he wasn't going to fail her again.
Slowly, and threateningly he began to advance towards King Vegeta, until finally the King gave in. "Look we don't know where they are. They stay on the move the last we saw them they were dragging Frieza off as a trophy. Just calm down Nappa." King Vegeta tried to talk reason into his commander as the pressure billowing off of him continued to increase.
Sanity slowly seemed to creep back into Nappa's eyes though, at the mention of the Frost Tyrant.
"Frieza huh? I can work with that." He muttered quietly, as his aura faded. "I'm sorry, sir. But Latice is my mate and I refuse to let those bastards have her another minute, even if it kills me, I'm getting her back." He said before turning and leaving.
Before King Vegeta could even get to the entrance of the cave Nappa's body was nothing more than a speck on the horizon rapidly fading towards the highest nearby power levels.
Hell truly was hell for the former ruler of the galaxy as King Cold's eyes stretched out over the endless barren wasteland. Not only had his reign over the land of the living been cut short prematurely, but now he was forced into a land in which it was impossible for him to rule. Not only was there nothing for him to rule over, but he was constantly being hunted on top of it. The same band of persistent Monkeys that had captured his son and were even now subjecting him to countless forms of humiliation. Most commonly using him as their collective punching bag.
They weren't satisfied with just his son though, they had their eyes on bigger prey, namely himself. Ever since he had made the mistake of making his presence known to them by attempting to rescue his son they had been hunting him relentlessly. Driven by the challenge of overcoming his power. Their attacks had been coming almost daily for months now. Alternating between small bands of their weaker Saiyans seeking glory and even smaller bands of their stronger warriors. The part the most concerned him though was that it was never the same group twice. Leading to real concerns about just how many Super Saiyans inhabited this wasteland. If the Saiyans actually wanted to they could simply overpower him by sheer numbers, like what had happened to him on Earth.
King Cold was pulled from his thoughts by an approaching figure, a lone Saiyan woman. Cold was immediately on guard, usually Saiyans approached him in groups of between three and eight and they were always already transformed. Yet this monkey was seeming either brave enough or foolish enough to approach him in her untransformed state. Expecting an ambush Cold began to pool a few percent his power.
What came next completely surprised the former Ruler, the Saiyan dropped to a knee in a low bow. "Lord Cold, my Queen, Queen Cepa wishes to challenge you to a match. If you win you will receive your son back."
King Cold could tell the Saiyan was trying to keep her voice was even and cordial as possible but beneath it she was terrified of him. A genuine smile spread across his face, it had missed the feeling of other fearing him and showing him respect at the same time. "An intriguing proposal, and will I be wagering?"
The Saiyan Woman looked uncomfortable answering for a moment before responding. "Nothing that you already haven't lost simply by being down here."
"I see" King Cold said, his lips falling into a frown, a he figured out immediately what she was referring to. "I think I will have to decline for now. Please deliver my response to her immediately." he said before he extended a lone finger and blasted a hole straight through the Saiyan's heart. He had decided immediately nothing good would come if he went anywhere near the main part of the Super Saiyan group again. Even if he beat their queen it was likely they would overwhelm him. He simply needed to choose a direction and fly for a few months and get some distance between them hopefully that will give them time to find something else to occupy their limited simian attention span.
"Now then what to do about-" King Cold started to say before he noticed a second Saiyan woman who gave off a much more imposing air than the first; floating behind him with a very dissatisfied look on her face.
"Did she belong to you?" King Cold asked in a half mocking tone to hide the fact he taken off-guard that she was able to get behind him without him noticing.
"Yes she does. I thought you'd appreciate receiving the message from someone who once worked for your organization. Apparently I was wrong" The Saiyan woman responded a cold edge to her voice as she slowly drifted to the ground a few feet away from King Cold.
Cold and the mystery Saiyan each stayed silent for a moment taking measure of the warrior standing before them, before the Saiyan began speaking again. "I tried to give you a chance for glory fighting me in front of the entirety of my people, because I deemed you a possible worthy adversary, but obviously you are too much a coward for that. I suppose that is something you and your son have in common. You know he begs to just let the pain end at the end of each fight now a days. He's not even fun for our low class soldier to toy with anymore, he really is a pitiful excuse of a creature."
Cold's eyes flashed dangerously at the repeated insults to his lineage, the most powerful the universe had ever seen, as his lips curled into a snarl. "You know I think I am going to enjoy killing you slowly." He said before firing a death beam similar to the one that had just killed the messenger, aimed at crippling the untransformed Saiyan before she could become a threat.
Much to Cold's surprise though his attack was deflected with a simple flick of her wrist. A predatory grin slowly spread across her face as a golden aura spread across her body, "My thoughts exactly."
Nappa had been flying for hours, now and he was just now beginning to appreciate the enormity of it all. He thought finding a power level the size of Frieza's in this mess would be simple, but so far he had found several creatures nearly as powerful as him. Most the energies here were just as dark and twisted as Frieza's was too which made his search just that much more difficult.
Finally though a fading power level in the distance sent a familiar shiver down his spine. 'Frieza!' He thought to himself as he picked up his pace, flying at a lower altitude to avoid attracting unwanted attention.
Within a few minutes of flying in that direction he became uncomfortably aware of a massive river of energy spread out over the landscape in that direction. In a way it felt similar to the cloud that had surrounded him earlier, but on a much more massive scale, each of the individual powers were at least as powerful as he was with several many times above his own. It was the single largest conglomeration of energy he had ever felt in his life. He pushed through his building unease though, knowing somewhere in that mass of life energy was wife.
30 more minutes passed before he arrived at the outskirts of the camp. He quickly ducked behind a nearby boulder and examined the camp in its entirety. It stretched on for miles and miles across the barren surface. Just from the looks of it contained a lot more than just the few thousand Super Saiyans that King Vegeta said there were. From what he could feel there were a variety of strength present too, it was as if an entire planet of Saiyans were gathered here, easily as many as were in the shantytown surrounding King Vegeta's cave, maybe even a million Saiyans total.
'Damn it, finding her in this mess is going to be impossible.' Nappa thought to himself as he realized he didn't even know what the touch of her energy felt like. 'I guess I'm going to do this the hard way…' With that he took a deep breath and walked straight towards the camp. The stump of his tail twitching with nervousness as he went.
He barely made it through the outer wall of tents before he realized he was attracting a lot of attention. His Saiyan armor stood out like a sore thumb compared to the leather armor the vast majority of the Saiyans present were wearing, besides a few that appeared to be acting as slaves that coupled with his massive size, and his stump of a tail called a lot of attention.
He only made to the first major intersection of the camp before he confronted by a Saiyan of similar size to himself. "Where do you think you're going? Dirt like you stay at the outside of the camps unless you're called." He said with obvious scorn.
Nappa immediately regretted his mistake, he should've watched more carefully and tried harder to blend in instead of just marching in. He needed to salvage the situation somehow. The Saiyan in question was strong, nearly as strong as himself, so if he was a Super Saiyan he couldn't allow him to transform if it came to that. He went into action almost immediately his fist lashing out and knocking the air from the warrior's stomach much faster than the other Saiyan expected. A follow up blow crashed into his jaw eliciting a satisfying snapping sound and rendering him unconscious, with just the two strikes. With a deep bellow Nappa shouted "Who are you calling dirt you piece of shit! Just cause I lost a bet and have to dress like them today, doesn't mean I'm sleeping out there with them tonight." Hoping his difference in power between him and most modern Saiyans and his somewhat forced acting would be enough to let him by.
No one else immediately rose up to challenge him, as the rest of the Saiyans gathered went back to whatever they were doing before. It was obvious to them no actual low class Saiyan could've taken out a true Saiyan warrior so easily, so they let him pass without further incident.
Nappa estimated his wife was somewhere in the mid-thousands a somewhat rare power level in the tent city so he started exploring looking for the lowest power levels he could find.
He searched for hours, but once he was in the center part of town no one questioned why he was there. Those hours quickly turned into a full day but he wasn't able to locate her.
Sitting down on a stone bench Nappa was surprised that no one had noticed his lack of a halo yet. 'Well I suppose it is probably something pretty easy to overlook.' He finally concluded, his mind somewhat foggy from lack of sleep.
Suddenly he heard a commotion a short distance away slowly he opened his eyes to see two figures floating over head. As his eyes slowly focused the first thing he noticed was one was carrying something roughly as large as herself, while the other was floating a short distance away carrying a smaller round object. It only took him another fraction of a second for him to realize they were both Saiyan woman, the latter of which looked somewhat familiar.
That was when it dawned on him, "Latice!" He couldn't help but call out, his was drowned out though by the roaring chants of "Cepa! Cepa! Cepa!" As she dropped whatever she was carrying to the ground. She then turned around and grasped whatever Latice was carrying, and hoisted it up high, as the crowd roared even louder.
Nappa though couldn't be bothered to look at that though, his aura had already wrapped around itself as he launched himself towards the pair. He would grab his wife and try to use that 'Solar Flare' Technique the Earthlings are always so proud of, with any luck he'd be able to get enough distance between himself and the camp that they could take cover in a cave until it all blew over.
Cepa was looking over her people, the Saiyan race; the proudest warrior race to have ever lived, even in death they still proved themselves the most powerful warriors in the universe. Of course she noticed the newcomer making his way towards her, his movements almost painfully slow. She was fairly certain she wasn't one of her Saiyans based on his armor and the fact she had come to recognize most of her people who could move at least as fast as he was moving. But there was no way he could've been from the group of new Saiyans either considering the fact he was moving as fast as he was.
Her lips twitched slightly as she tried to suppress a smirk, wherever he came from, it was interesting and in a place like hell there was never enough interesting things for a woman like her. 'Alright let's see what you can do.' She thought as she prepared herself for the inevitable sneak attack he was going to launch against her if one of her would-be suitors didn't try to intercept him first.
Another fraction of a second passed by and she started to notice a few more inconsistencies with the events going on around her. 'His angle attack is all wrong, it isn't aimed at me at all...he's aimed at...oh...that's your game.' She sighed inwardly disappointed that she had solved the mystery so quickly. 'If he isn't even going to try and get the drop on me he won't even be fun to play with.' She continued to think as she shot a nasty glare at one of her guards who was just starting to move trying to intercept the new comer, immediately he froze in his tracks. Giving her more time to consider how to make this unexpected turn of events more entertaining.
Finally failing to come up with an idea outright she went into action just as the newcomer was about to reach her servant.
Nappa could feel an incredible amount of power billowing off of the woman next to his wife, he couldn't believe he hadn't noticed it before. The only thing he had going for him at the moment was that she hadn't noticed him yet otherwise she would be able to finish him easily without even needing to transform.
At the speed he was moving right now though his wife wouldn't realize he was there until they were a good mile away from where they are now, even if he does stop long enough to do a Solar Flare. 'It's a good thing they're all looking this way anyway, it makes that technique of the Earthlings just that much more effective.' He thought to himself as he began to channel energy in what he thought was the correct way. If he was wrong there was a chance he would end up blasting his wife to pieces, which could be an issue, but supposedly she would just reform again afterwards as long as he brought part of her body with him.
Just as he reached out to touch Latice though he felt his body begin to spasm starting with his stomach. Blood and bile mixed together and were violently ejected from his mouth as his body came to a dead stop.
He hung limply for a moment his mind slowly fading out of consciousness as his eyes tried to focus on his wife but ended up focusing on something closer instead, his slowly fading mind somehow recognized it as King Cold's severed head falling towards the ground, just before everything went dark.
Cepa floated there the brute of a Saiyan bent over her fist for a moment, a blast easily capable of tearing through his body already formed in her hand, but she did not fire. Instead she was distracted by a new mystery about her guest, something that was easily overlooked "Now just where did your halo go?" She asked in a low voice that only she could hear.
Nappa's mind was groggy as he slowly came too. His body felt like it had just gone through an all day training session with Vegeta.
"Oh you're finally awake." A gruff voice called from across the room. "Cepa asked me to keep an eye on you for a bit, I guess she's got some questions she wanted to ask you." A medium sized Saiyan said with a confident grin on his face as he looked down at the sprawling Nappa.
Just a cursory examination and Nappa could tell this Saiyan was nearly as powerful as the one that had been standing next to his wife in their untransformed states.
Nappa slowly sat up, and crossed his legs deciding it wouldn't hurt to ask a few questions of his own while he was here, he still has his ace of his sleeve if he needed to make a quick escape. "So do you know where the woman who was standing next to...Cepa is now?" He asked nonchalantly.
Immediately the Saiyan across from him began to laugh and laugh hard. "You've got a pair on you, that's for sure. You do realize you're in some deep shit here right? The only reason you're not already dead is because Queen Cepa noticed you're missing your halo."
'Well that's useful information.' Nappa thought to himself. He was about to say something else when they heard footstep approaching the cave they were apparently in.
Within a few seconds the Saiyan Queen Cepa had entered the room, and the once easy going guard was immediate at attention.
"At ease Tawas." She said before dismissing the other Saiyan with a wave of her hand, her attention fully focused on Nappa.
There was a cold glare to her gaze that could break the wills of most warriors, especially those that had tasted her power before, but Nappa stared back defiantly.
After a moment of their stare down it was broken by her smirking. "You are an interesting one. You're in hell yet you don't appear to be dead. You infiltrate my camp, without even attempting to blend in, then bull rush the Queen of the Saiyans, the most powerful warrior in to have ever lived, all to try and kidnap my servant? Did I hit the mark there?" She asked.
The surprised look on Nappa's face answered Cepa's question without him ever needing to open his mouth
She looked disappointed with how easily she had gotten her answers. "Alright then onto the next question, why are you trying to steal from me?" She asked her tone taking on a dangerous tone at the end.
Nappa refused to back down and continued to match her stare as he answered, "So coming to bring your wife home is stealing here huh?"
"It is when she is one of my trophies. Now onto my last question. How are you in hell and still alive?" The intensity of her stare left no doubt that Nappa had her complete and undivided attention.
He was silent for a moment, "How about we make a trade, I tell answer that question in exchange for you letting me and my wife go." Nappa responded hoping she would take the deal.
"Now I can tell you one of the failed Saiyans without a doubt. Trophies of war are taken not traded." She replied her former smirk falling to a frown.
"Fine then how about in the form of a fair wager." Nappa countered.
Her frown remained but there was a slight light in her eyes showing she was interested. "Fine, that's acceptable." A predatory grin spread across her face. "Unfortunately you are well below my standards for fighting personally. So I will be appointing a representative to fight in my place."
Nappa wasn't sure when the wager had automatically turned into a fight but at this point he wasn't sure he had a choice.
"So if you win you and your wife may leave my service. And if my fighter wins you will tell me your secret and you both will serve me for all of eternity. I will arrange the fight and contact you shortly." She said with one last predatory grin before promptly exiting, leaving Nappa unable to get a single word in edgewise.
'Was that really him?' Latice asked herself for the hundredth time as she sat on a small rock outside her dwelling. It was almost inconceivable, that he had finally joined her in this barren wasteland after nearly 30 years apart.
Still other than the lack of hair he was the spitting image if Nappa. And it would be exactly like him to come rushing here if he heard she had been taken. Finally she let out a sigh. "Damn hot headed idiot. He never learns." she mumbled to herself while hoping to see him again soon.
In the hour that passed between Cepa leaving him to arrange the fight, Nappa became aware of something he had completely forgotten during his day long period of utter determination. He had forgotten to eat. His hands immediately started flying over his armor looking for the special capsule containing the lifeblood that was the only thing sustaining him in this world. The delicious food he raided from the Capsule Corp kitchen before leaving. To his relief though, it was still in his pocket where he had left it.
As quickly as possible he ate his fill, and by the time a guard returned to bring him to the arena he was rearing to go, his Saiyan blood itching for the challenge of whoever he would be facing.
Thousands of Saiyans packed the alleyways leading towards the makeshift stone arena many more had taken to the skies to get the best views possible.
Nappa couldn't help but feel nostalgic as he remembered the fighting pits on planet Vegeta during the glory years right after the end of their war with the Tuffles. He immediately shook it off. He couldn't live in the past if he wanted to survive long enough to see his future.
The crowd roared as he entered the arena and he laid his eyes on his opponent for the first time, an undersized Saiyan for sure. He knew from raising Vegeta though that underestimating a Saiyan based on size could easily be a deadly mistake. After a examining him with his Ki sense though it didn't seem like he was too terribly much stronger in his base form than Nappa himself was.
His eyes quickly scanned the crowd until they met Cepa's who were giving him a knowing, mischievous smirk. As if to say 'Yes I'm giving you a chance, better take it while you can.'
Nappa eyes refocused to his opponent who had already crouched into a defensive stance, as Nappa took one of his own. Both fighters were introduced quickly by the Queen who mentioned the other Saiyan's name was Gulrot.
"I'm going to enjoy kicking your ass old man." Gulrot said in the few seconds between his introduction and the start.
Nappa's face twitched slightly in annoyance but he replied back with a sneer of his own, "Don't worry kid, I'll make sure your mom still be able to recognize your face when you going running back to her with your tail tucked between your legs." Nappa replied, enjoying the pre-fight bantering.
A few more exchanges later and they were told to begin.
Nappa lunged forward first, but halfway to Gulrot he veered to the right, a before firing a single distraction blast at the waiting warrior.
Gulrot was easily able to deflect the blast but the small blast kept him in place for a fraction of a second longer than he wanted it to giving Nappa a chance to get behind him.
Just as Nappa swung his massive fist down towards his diminutive adversary though he phased out of sight. Nappa's body worked purely on instinct as he kicked out with a donkey kick behind himself and heard the satisfying bang of his heel making contact with bone.
A small smirk crossed Nappa's face for a moment as he realized Gulrot did the same trick Vegeta always tried to pull.
Taking advantage of having his off-guard opponent Nappa pointed one of his hands towards the ground and fired a single blast towards it, causing him to have enough vertical velocity to flip into the air, then using his Ki he attempted to control his flight into a high velocity flip and land behind the hopefully still stunned Gulrot before he had time to recover.
Unfortunately, although his kick had connected beautifully with Gulrot's sternum the seemingly young warrior had the foresight to allow the moment of the kick to launch him backwards, well past the range of Nappa's flip.
"Way too predictable" Gulrot shouted before phasing out of his current position.
Nappa too phased out both colliding high in the sky, knee meeting knee and trading fists to the face. Time seemed to stand still for a fraction of a second before resuming to normal as hundreds of blows were quickly exchanged.
Although Nappa seemed to have the advantage in the beginning, things slowly began to shift, his opponents fighting style kept changing as the fight progressed, it was subtle at first, just enough to neutralize some of his blocks, but over time it began to take its toll on the Saiyan General. Soon every blow started coming in at an angle he couldn't predict.
He took a punch to his ribs. His counter punch was parried easily. A knee to his stomach hit him like a sledge hammer immediately afterwards, followed by a blow to the face at a slightly downwards angle. Nappa tried to counter with an off balance upper-cut only to find air, his chin then felt the impact of a powerful kick, sending the Saiyan General spiraling.
'Damn it I've got to get some distance' Nappa though just as Gulrot rushed him again.
Nappa immediately opened his mouth wide, and unleashed a powerful mouth canon catching the surprisingly veteran warrior off-guard and sending him flying backwards. Giving Nappa a few second to catching his breath, and to try and think of a strategy.
Unfortunately for Nappa his respite was much too short to even full catch his breath let alone come up with a plan, as Gulrot was already after him again.
On the fly Nappa tried fighting like Vegeta for a moment to throw his adversary off, but he only managed to get two hits in before Gulrot had already adjusted. Nappa couldn't help but notice his body was reacting much slower trying to mimic Vegeta's style anyway and was immediately forced back to his own.
Finally Nappa was hit with an axe handle from above and sent to the ground, his vision foggy. Nappa tried one more push hoping to get the upper hand his skull rushing forward trying to get a head-butt in. Unfortunately his head was stopped mere millimeters from the other Saiyan's' forehead. Somehow he had managed to get his hand there fast enough to stop the surprise attack.
Before Nappa could rise to his feet on his own he was pulled to his feet by the front of his armour. "How pitiful, I'm not even going to get to transform to fight you. You know maybe I'll be able to convince Cepa to give me a bonus for this. You know that wife of yours is quite a looker for being a coward's descendant." Gulrot said, his intentions clear as day to Nappa.
'I failed...I failed her again…' He imagined the anger and fear his wife and son must've felt as Frieza destroyed their world. His helplessness in his fights against Frieza, Cold, and even Trunks after he transformed. And now here he was with a chance to save his wife again not even fighting a Super Saiyan and he was going to lose? He felt something stirring within him, a rage at his own weakness, the fact he was the only living Saiyan that hadn't transformed. He could never forgive himself if he failed here. He needed more power. Something welled up within him, it was raw and animalistic. It was exactly what he was looking for, he grasped onto it and pulled with all of his might. The images of his failures flashing before him once more giving him one last push.
Gulrot was raising his hand to deliver the finishing blow, he intended to severe the Saiyans spine, it would immobilize the Saiyan without killing him so the Queen could still ask her questions, hopefully before he bled out.
Nappa's eyes suddenly flew open, his eyes flashing between teal color and their usual black.
"Wh-" Before Gulrot even had a chance to react Nappa raised both of his massive arms up and slammed them both against both sides of Gulrot's skull. The world immediately went dark for the ancient Saiyan as his brain began to bounce around his severely stressed skull.
Nappa rose into the air his transformation continued. A golden aura slowly wrapping around his body.
Cepa watched on, in awe at what she was seeing, "Impossible…" She managed to say as the transformation continued. Saiyans after the Great War shouldn't be able to transform into Super Saiyans, it was a punishment to the low-class cowards who fled the Great War handed down by the Super Saiyan god themselve. Yet here one was, transforming before he very eyes.
Nappa's body was wrapped in golden light, his moustache was similarly dyed blonde, as he stared down at Gulrot's prone body.
His Saiyan instincts were on fire, every ounce of his body wanted Gulrot to rise so they could continue to fight, even though his mind knew he needed to end the fight quickly.
Nappa's half second of hesitation was all Gulrot needed though, as a golden aura suddenly burst around the prone Saiyan and he too rose into the air.
There was a wild look in Gulrot's eyes when he reached Nappa's eye level, "You sneaky bastard." He managed to say before spitting blood and wiping his mouth. "I'm going to make you pay for tricking me." Gulrot's aura burst out wider. As he rushed forward to continue the fight once more.
The rhythm of the fight immediately reverted to the one it had when they were in their base forms Nappa unable to keep up with the bizarre and ever changing attack patterns coming from Gulrot.
After a particularly vicious blow to Nappa's head inspiration struck the Saiyan General. 'Damn it...that just might work…' His hands rushed to the sides of his face.
Gulrot was caught off guard by a movement even he couldn't predict, "Solar Flare!" Nappa shouted as he tried to channel his energy in a way that would work like the Earthlings always used.
His plan was a partial success. The resulting attack ended up being a mixture of a blinding flash of light and explosive wave, that managed to push Gulrot back.
He heard thousands of shouts of agony around him as he blinded the onlookers as well, but he couldn't care about that at the moment. He pressed his fingers to his foreheads and began to channel his power using another borrowed technique he hadn't used since his battle with Ginyu on planet Namek.
He charged for several seconds before firing hoping the confused screams would hide the sound of his twin-beamed attack cutting through the air.
His hope was rewarded with a yell of pure agony as his beams cut through his abdomen, one even hitting his chest.
Gulrot hit the ground with a thud, blood pouring from his mouth. Unable to sustain his Super Saiyan aura any longer.
Nappa looked at the other Saiyan and let out a sigh of relief before firing a pity shot to finish the job, leaving just a crater where he was once laying.
Only one person besides Nappa got to see the end of the fight Cepa, who managed to shield her eyes at the last second.
She sighed in disappointment. "You're free to go. You've proven yourself worthy of your Saiyan blood. I just have one question." Cepa said grinning mischievously at the battered Nappa whose Super Saiyan aura was still flashing around him. "Who's going to protect your wife once you go back to the land of the living?"
Nappa stared at her a troubled look on his face, she apparently had figured out almost everything about him already.
"Ah so you do have a way to get back there." She replied a victorious look on her face.
Nappa just sighed the Queen obviously knew how to get what she wanted, even when she lost.
"How about I make you a deal. In exchange for protecting your wife I want you to tell me how you came to hell and how you are going to get back." Cepa offered.
Nappa was silent for a moment. "How about this instead, I'll tell you what you want to know in exchange, you protect not just my wife but the other Saiyans back at the other camp. Rotate the guards or whatever you see fit, I think she'll be more comfortable back with Saiyans from our time." Nappa suggested.
"I'm sure we can work something out, with the pretender Vegeta." Cepa said dismissively, she then leaned forward intent on hearing his story.
Nappa quickly explained his basic understanding of Kakarot's ability.
When he finished Cepa nodded, "I was hoping for something a little easier to use, but no matter. I will uphold my word while you are away. But in return I want you to grow stronger. To make planets shake and seek out the strongest warriors in the universe and bend them to their knees as is the true Saiyan way. And when our paths finally cross again whether it be in that world or this one, I want you to give me the fight I've been longing for all these endless centuries."
"You've got my word, I'll send you some interesting prey before you see me again." Nappa said with a confident smirk of his own.
Walking out of the arena the first thing Nappa saw was the waiting form of Latice at that moment Nappa couldn't help himself and immediately embraced his wife in a tight bear hug. "Hey it's alright now. You're free to go back to the others. Plus I managed to arrange a deal so they will be mostly protected from now on, if King Vegeta agrees of course." Nappa explained.
Latice was still stunned silent as she was staring at a husband she could barely recognize between his golden mustache and his teal eyes, her otherworld body barely able to support the incredible strength of his Super Saiyan power.
Slowly though she was able to relax herself into her husband's hug.
It was several hours before they were able to return back to the Saiyan City. During that time they were able to catch up on each of their many struggles during their nearly 30 years apart.
In much too short of a time, they arrived. Latice agreed to report everything to King Vegeta, giving Nappa a chance to meet with his son after so long.
It didn't take long for the Saiyan General to locate the pre-teen Saiyan warrior at the edge of the city. He wasn't alone though.
"Kakarot?" Nappa called confused at the Goku look alike standing next to his son arms cross staring up at him from the wasteland below.
It didn't take the Saiyan General long to notice the differences between Kakarot and the warrior standing before him, most notably the large scar on his cheek.
"Ah so you know my son already that makes things easier. Nappa I have a request to make of you." The older Saiyan said without even introducing himself.
"Hold on just who are you even?" Nappa said, as the other Saiyan scowled.
"I'm Bardock, Kakarot and Raditz are my sons. Good enough?" When Nappa didn't say anything Bardock continued. "Look you don't know me, and I doubt you'll believe me. But before I died I gained the powers to see the future from some fish-head from planet Kanassa. I think you've met my grandson, I think my idiot son called him Gohan. I'm sure you've seen his explosive power. I can tell you there is a threat coming that only he can stop. When he comes back I need you to promise me that you'll do whatever you can to make him as powerful as possible." Bardock asked the Saiyan General.
Nappa just stared at Bardock for a moment trying to figure out how he could possibly know he had met Gohan before, he had only known the brat for like a week.
Before Nappa could say anything else though Bardock spoke up again, "Whether you believe me or not is up to you though. I've said my peace, the rest is up to you." With that Bardock took to the air leaving Nappa alone to meet with his son.
The Saiyan General just shook his head from side to side for a moment wondering if every member of Kakarot's family was insane before returning to the problem at hand. He took one finally breath and turned to his son, he had a lot he wanted to say to him.
I wanted to start off this A/N by saying sorry for the long delay. I actually expected to have several chapters up between the last post but a lot of things have come up and I just wasn't able to get the chapter done. I'm going to try my best to crank out as many chapters as possible before school starts back up, right now it looks like there shouldn't be any other major delays, unless anything unexpected pops up again.
On a quick side note this is also officially the longest chapter of culture shock ever written. It was also suppose to be even longer originally but I decided to stick the last couple of scenes into the start of the next chapter just to get this one up faster.
With that I'm just going to jump straight to the reviews because there are alot of them this time.
Reviews:
bigdragonballz- Wow, only gets better and better, I think I know why Nappa wants to go to HFIL, this story is only getting better and better, Join us next chapter for another heart stopping zenkai! On the next Brelic Ball Z! (Epic oitro sequence)
Thanks for the review :). I wonder if things turned out how you were expecting them to this chapter lol. Hope you enjoyed it!
super mystic gohan - nice chapter like trunks outburst in super sayien. haha and goku cracks me up I cant wait to see now turles is the ruler off the pto hoppfully another big fight will happen also nappa going to hell should be interesting
Glad you enjoyed Trunk's transformation. Yeah Goku causes a lot of trouble for everyone lol. We'll be having a Gohan and company chapter next focusing on how they are ruling the galaxy. I hope you enjoyed Nappa's adventure :)
RKF22 - Excellent fight wonder if broly will help Gohan ascend
Glad you enjoyed it. We'll have to wait and see :)
Dragonmaster1296 - Good fight between turles and the PTO commanders and now turles finally has achieved his goal an become ruler of the galaxy but he is in for a shock when he finds out he is no where near the strongest. I did not think gohan and raditz would be that strong yet I thought they would be in the 300,000 range, I guess that training with the ginryu is help them out. Trunks rampage was insane and awesome too read through it shows how stupid some of gokus decisions are. I never would of thought you would send nappa on a adventure through hell...cool! I look forward to see it
Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed the fight. Yeah there was a bit of a time skip, so between the training and the tree of might fruit Gohan and Raditz were able to make a decent little jump. I hope I captured Goku accurately to me anyway it seemed like a decision he would make given those circumstances. I hope Nappa's adventure in hell lived up to your expectations :)
Simgr101 -I certainly did. I wonder what Nappa is going to do in Hell. See King Vegeta, find Frieza. So many options. I wonder how you'll show hell though. Are you going to have the filler hell where all the villains are just around in small camps or like dbs hell where you may have weak villains around but the major ones would be trapped in their worst hells. if it's saiyans he has to say they would be forced into a state where they could never fight. For Frieza of course its the fluffy bunny scenario.
I hope you enjoyed the trip Nappa's adventure. As you can see I chose the anime version of hell instead just because that's what i grew up with so that's always going to be my canon version of Dragon ball Z's hell.
SHONENJUMP Guy - You know when I look at the PL list I kinda feel sorry for Turles bcos as of right now Even Chichi would whoop his ads six ways to Sunday. Nice chapter btw.
Thanks for the review :). Yup Turles does not know the trouble he is in if Chi Chi ever finds him with Gohan. Pretty much any of the tier 2 Earth fighters can take him right now.
Jhotenko - I see you're going the route that the tail actually make the super saiyan transformation harder/impossible. Either that, or you really didn't want him going Oozaru.
Goku bringing Nappa into otherworld... Well that's going to cause a few headaches for King Kai at the very least. I imagine that will break all kinds of rules and traditions.
As always, I look forward to your next post.
Not necessarily about the tail needing to be removed to go Super Saiyan. I just didn't want to give him the cheap out of going Oozaru to fight Trunks. Although in hindsight that could've been fun to write it would've distracted me further from getting to the andriod saga and i've kinda been ready to get to just hurry up and get to the android saga for awhile now lol. But I have to finish up all the story lines that have gotten started throughout the story when they are supposed to get finished up, and lay the ground work for the future arcs when i need to lay the groundwork for them so that's been bogging me down for awhile. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Yeah King Kai in this case valued his own life over the rules and traditions though lol. I hope you enjoyed Nappa's little vacation :)
AineCPB - Hey! Good chapter!
Turles is getting cocky, isn't he? He had no idea who's coming after him and I guess that's gonna be a breaking point for Gohan.
Poor Trunks, he totally lost it. It's just, he's so young and he's gone through so much that I can totally see why he lost control. And Nappa getting so frustrated because he can't achieve super saiyan, I hope his plan works.
Btw, I've so wanted to slap Goku some times. But that's just how he is.
So what's coming first: Broly or the Androids? Whatever it is, can't wait!
Thank you for the review :) Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Yes Turles is cocky by nature, so after defeating the strongest known fighters left, i'd imagine his ego started expanding faster than the universe did right after the big bang.
Yeah Trunks has had a really, really hard life in this story, he's got a bit of a supporting net now, as long as they can protect him from Goku's bright ideas things should improve for him for alittle while.
I hope I did Goku justice this chapter, honestly Goku is one of the harder characters to write so I always have to double check when I have a chapter with alot of him in it.
Androids first but next chapter we will be visiting Gohan and company again. Plus I have plans to keep them busy for this next arc as we slowly approach the turning point of the story.
wheathermangohanssj4 - So Nappa is going to take a journey to HFIL neat.
Slightly sad about that oh well, hopefully Gohan has a turn around or just get's to come home soon.
Sorry about giving you the Kuriza blues, it was a good idea just not the direction the story was going :(. I Hope you enjoyed Nappa's adventure. Gohan's screen time should begin ramping up some starting with this arc.
SaiyanPrince541 - (A ton of them) I'm going to pick and choose which I am going to respond too on here and if there are any that you want me to respond to more in depth just let me know the number and I will definitely do that.
Thank you for all of the reviews. I enjoyed getting to follow along and reading what you thought of the story. It is always good to get a different perspective of some of the earlier chapters because it reminds me of some of the minor plot points I might've forgotten I even snuck in there months since I wrote alot of chapters.
I'm glad you seem to be enjoying the story. I hope the story continues to live up to your expectations.
I love Nappa's loyalty! That stalwart Saiyan sure is gallant as it gets! 15 minutes with a hand through his stomach, all for Vegeta?! That's truly noble! Vegeta's lucky to have him! I hope he learns that, someday!
Awesome, I hope Vegeta takes out this scum Zarbon! LOL Zarbon the elegant?! My God, that's about the sappiest title I've ever heard! I'm glad Vegeta took Nappa with him. He's being crude and threatening to leave him behind, but I don't think he'd do that. He has a tender spot somewhere in his heart, I feel.
Chi-Chi's so damn cool! That hardcore, ruthless bitch hahahaha! I wish they made her like this in the actual series, rather than a damn termagant! God, I got worried just a little bit, when Frieza made his way into the scene, but luckily Vegeta managed to submerge into the water, before he got captured, thank God! Chi-Chi and Tien just did the Prince a huge favor though! He's going to get a big Zenkai from this thrashing! Wonder how much though! Will it be enough to take on a member of the Ginyu Force, I wonder?! Ahhh, Vegeta has a ball now, amazing!
Okay, Yamcha having hidden powers makes sense, but Bulma?! Sounds a little awkward! I mean, Bulma can't get any more intelligent, that's for sure and fighting's never been her thing, so... I do wonder hehe! Oh shit, it is new intelligence! Damn! Didn't think that crazy girl could get any smarter! Funny how she doesn't think anything of her slightly increased power! Wonder what Bulma's power level is now? Maybe 50, I guess? :D
Ohhh, Vegeta's at 48 000! Now that's a whopping power level! Cute how Yamcha suddenly thinks he can beat Vegeta, just 'cuz Guru unlocked his power LOL! But shit, he, Tien and Chi-Chi are really powerful now, that's for sure!
In your chapter 14 review you asked roughly what Bulma's power level was roughly it is like somewhere around 50 so yeah you were pretty close. Makes her among the strongest none Ki trained humans around. The intelligence boost was the important part. It was one of the major parts that allowed her to be able to build the time machine so much earlier in this story as opposed to in the show. Especially since she was busy helping support a massive military infrastructure for the human fighters at the same time.
Ahhh nice, looking forward to seeing Vegeta, Nappa, Chi-Chi, Tien and Yamcha take on the Ginyu Force! I'm sure they can handle at least one or two of them, I hope! Ahhh good, Vegeta's come here looking for a truce! How nice of him... NOT! LOL!
Oh no, Burter's going to try and collect Bulma! Dammit! Damn, this girl's brilliant, with those crazy-as defense systems?! That power unlock was definitely something favourable! LOL WUT?! The Ginyu Force fighters are crying over that fable that Bulma conjured up?! Unbelievable! XD! Freaking hilarious how Vegeta just sees right through her fib HAHAHAHAHA!
Darn, that crazy Prince is definitely going to own Guldo's ass... I hope! Whoa, is Vegeta really that strong that he can defeat the Ginyu fighters by himself, minus the Captain?! Damn, it can't be! If so, pretty neat! He should thank Tien and Chi-Chi for giving him that much needed, ass-beating LOL! :D
Wow, Vegeta escaped from the mind bind and just obliterated Guldo! Nice one!
Hahahaha Vegeta just randomly appearing behind Bulma like that! That little Saiyan's much smarter than the rest, always surveying his surroundings and taking note of every significant detail hehe!
OMG, these idiots Tien and Vegeta are fighting each other! How freaking stupid! They've got bigger problems to worry about, do they not realize that?!
Hard to believe Tien could do that to Vegeta though, seems too farfetched to me, not to mention cliched...
Chapter 15 the reason Tien was able to do so much damage was because tri-beam basically operates under a similar mechanic as Kaioken at least in my head canon aka this story ;) At least that was always my understanding as to why it killed him when he used it too much.
OMG Chi-Chi and Nappa's last words were heart-wrenching, "find Gohan" and "I would never let my son die again"! Wow, so powerful! I really expect some Super Saiyan explosion to erupt at any time!
LOL Cute how Bulma and Vegeta are blushing, while she's latching onto him, during the flight.
Ahhh, Goku's at 152 million, uninjured that is. That's the same power level system as npberryhill, in "Bringer of Death"! I like it! I wonder what Vegeta's power level is!
Chapter 24 I do follow the Bringer of Death additive model for Super Saiyan transformations. It just seems to fit better for fights. Yeah I decided to give Bulma and Vegeta a nice meeting now ;) I'm glad you liked the lines, I thought long and hard about what each would say given the situation.
chapter 26 (ps glad you liked Chi Chi oppressing the Ogres ;)
Zarbon's alive?! WTH?! Oh, it's not Zarbon! And this idiot seems to be ticked off that he was confused with Zarbon. :/
That is an original character me and one of my friends came up with. He is Zarbon's cousin, made him just so Gohan and Raditz could kill him
Chapter 42
Okay, Vegeta would lose to Goku, but not badly. 151.3 million and 160 million is not that great a difference.
Things do seem a little all over the place here.
Sorry if things seemed alittle all over the place, i'm assuming you meant Lime and Trunks arrival. I did mean for it to seem alittle chaotic to throw the Z fighters off, but I didn't mean for it to come off as sloppy or anything if it did I apologize.
Chapter 43
Trunks is Yamcha's son... Naaaah, don't like it, not at all...
Trunks is not Yamcha's son, Yamcha was just assuming based on the fact that they said it was Bulma's kid. Lime clears that up later. I think I might've already covered that in a PM but if not I wanted to make sure I did again.
0 Jordinio 0 - ...This is one of the shittiest dbz stories I've ever had the misfortune of even opening. Seriously, you kept promising Gohan like every chapter and he got under ten chapters with him even in it in the entire story.
In the immortal words of Captain Jack Sparrow "But you have heard of me."
But in all seriousness I've tried throughout this story to warn people that Gohan is more of a second half character than a first half. This story is a huge story, a complete rewrite of the dragon ball z universe with even more characters getting roles than the actual show had. I try my absolute best to balance that, but to be perfectly honest right now there isn't a whole lot interesting going on with Gohan. He doesn't have instant transmission to travel from planet to planet like Goku does. So while everyone else was having adventures he was stuck in hibernation. So his character has been developing slower than others that doesn't mean it will be. It's all going to balance out in the end. He is listed as one of the four main characters of the story for a reason I assure you.
Anyway I think you might be the first truly negative review the stories gotten, I've gotten a few others I've deemed as constructive criticism, mostly about my grammatical errors, which I know I do have my fair share of them. I try my best to eliminate them. I always hope everyone enjoys the story as much as I do, but if you don't you don't, not everyone has to, i'm still going to enjoy writing this story either way.
Anonymous - Finally found time to review
So I get what you said why vegeta's base was higher but I thought him training with piccolo provided the challenge to ssj, while him healing from the thrashing each time would give him a respectable zenkai everytime you know
But well your wish
So piccolo has not returned to earth and poor Goku is not being able to train himself due to not having a suitable partner as well as stuck training others, though I hope nappa becomes a ssj soon and then trunks and nappa can double team up against goku finally giving him the challenge required to help him launch his strength up which he desires
So Gero is keeping track of them all, and is making the androids more and more powerful
While turles is the King and hasn't been seen since 5 months
Now having the entire galaxy to himself he can keep reaping the fruits, though the benefits of only 20-30K would now start seeming miniscule now
Lets see how pull of the androids and cell(if he is still gonna come), set turles and earth on a collision path, and finally get goku and chi chi their son back, I think its been dragged pretty long :P
Also how do you plan to keep the humans relevant seeing as zenkais and supersaiyans being around are making their strengths seem irrelevant slowly and slowly
Update soon
The way I pictured Goku and Piccolo's training was less zenkai based and more about the massive amount of Ki the were expending. Since he was training in Super Saiyan he was 'training that muscle' in a sense. So while he was recieving some zenkai's to help with his base form. Vegeta on the other hand had the combo of training in the gravity chamber in base form and getting zenkais, which would help his base form grow faster.
If Nappa goes ssj he will go back to training with Vegeta finally. So it wil be ssj Trunks training with Goku with will give Goku an ok work out.
Yes they are all under the all watchful eye of Gero.
The gain of each fruit is falling off compared to his current power but the he can expand his fruit harvest quite a bit. There is practically no one left that can oppose him.
I'm sorry if it has dragged on, I knew going into this story that the prolonged separation wasn't going to be popular I've tried to make the story as good as possible to compensate for that. I think it is a good story and it all has a purpose in the end.
Currently Kaioken is the best weapon they have at their disposal, but new techniques could be arriving soon. Hope you enjoyed Nappa's trip :)
Abcd (chapter 41) - I don't understand who attacked Kold from above? I didn't get who it was and how they could've produced such a massive attack
Other than great chapter
Thanks for the review :) It was suppose to be a bit ambiguous at that point. It is later revealed (I'm assuming if you are reading this that you've already read that chapter) Android 13 and Company were sent by Gero as reinforcements to help out to avoid the Earth being destroyed and more importantly to ensure he would get a chance at proper revenge.
TheSuper saiyan - (From chapter. 37 and 38) Ive been reading this story for a while and i gotta say im Impressed, even though i haven't finished reading all the way my favorite part is when Mecha frieza and his father arrive on earth and how everything turn out especially when Vegeta becomes a Super saiyan! During the week I've watched the movies Battle of God and Revival of F , and they were great. But in RoF there were *cough* Flaws *cough* in the movie that Toriyama made. Even though you're not there yet in the storyline im sure you can make better and cooler(pun intended).I can't wait for Android Saga See you next time.
Thanks for the review :) Glad you are enjoying the story. The King Cold saga was one of my favorite sagas to write for sure so I am glad you are enjoying reading it. I was looking forward to it basically from the end of the Saiyan Saga onwards. Yeah I noticed said *flaws* I always thought those were a crying shame, good thing they didn't happen here ;).
Gremlinite -I finally caught up! Yaaay! Oh the sweet sweet Ginyu Force defection. That was unexpected, along with Cooler's surprise attack and even quicker "re-alliance." But was Lime dropping some hints in there, "you need to prove to your son anyone can be redeemed." I think Gohan'd have a hard time believing that one. ;) He's shaping up to be one of those bipolar warlord types on the opposite end of the spectrum from Cooler. Instead of a sadistic streak, he's going to have a deadly but protective streak a mile wide. "Kill the evil. Kill it!... Oh not you fluffy space bunny. You can stay." This won't really come to fruition (tree of might joke, haha) anytime soon, but if he never did find a way home, they'd find him sitting on that throne in another six years trying to save the universe. Scary.
OMG, Piccolo and Cooler. Yesss. Cooler is just an unrepentant ass like Radditz. If you can get those two to come around, that'll be the day. But I love how He's basically Piccolo 2.0, and Piccolo couldn't care less about their symmetry. Does everyone just need to babysit in order to soften their heart? (Not Radditz apparently... Fear is a good motivator too.) Let's get Brolly a bunny. I'm sure that'll save Turles. Hehe.
As always. Thanks for the writing Brelic. A little under halfway you say? Looks like we're in for another fun two years if that's the case!
Congrats on catching up, sorry for the long wait once you finally caught up. Glad you enjoy the Ginyu force part. Gohan is on an interesting path at the moment but you can be sure there are a few more twists and turns left for him to undergo.
I'm glad you liked the Piccolo and Cooler pairing and see their similarities. Brolly and a bunny, I think that is a recipe for a bloody mess but I might just be pessimistic ;)
Yup still under the halfway mark the original estimate was around 100 chapters but I've added 2 arcs to the second half since then plus the space between frieza and the andriods ended up balooning 5 or so chapters longer than I thought it would so we are looking at at least 125 chapters at this point possibly up to 150.
Till next time everyone.
