Chapter 62: Fight for Supremacy
Turles was the first to arrive to the world that would supposedly be the site of his final battle for control of the galaxy.
He watched the ancient ruined filled world with a look of disinterest. He had spent the flight learning what he could about the world's history. Megiddo had at one point been a major hub, controlling one of the main paths from which the movements of goods into and out of the galactic core moved. It had even managed to become the capital of a fairly large empire, nearly a thousand worlds. Its reign came to a sudden end about 700 years ago when an early branch of the Planet Trade Organization moved into the region.
As he continued to watch he heard the door to his room open, as three sets of footsteps entered the room stopped and kneeled.
"Lord Turles, we've returned." Burter said from behind him.
As expected the trio of Burter, Jeice, and Pyros managed to make it to the world before his Saiyan counterparts.
"I hope you brought a good haul." Turles replied not bothering to turn around. "Leave them on the table, and prepare yourselves. Soon we'll have some fun."
The next day passed like molasses for the warriors aboard the ship, but eventually all of the fighters had arrived. Raditz and Recoome being the last two to make it.
"Ah so the man of many secrets has finally arrived." Turles said with an inquisitive look. "So do you care to tell me why we're here?" He asked again watching closely. Raditz had already told them once but refused to explain how he came about the information.
"Taiga is going to be here. You just have to trust me." Raditz replied trying to seem confident, on the inside he was terrified he had finally lost his mind. 'Turles is going to kill me if I'm wrong.' Raditz thought as he somehow managed to match Turles' glare.
Finally Turles looked away and shrugged, "Whatever, for your sake I hope you're right."
Minutes turned into hours and hours turned into another full day as the group impatiently orbited the planet's moon, out of the direct line of sight
At the 36 hour mark Turles had finally hit the end of his patience. "Enough! Raditz you are telling me why you thought Taiga was coming or I am going to beat the answer out of you." The Saiyan leader snarled as he stormed across the cargo bay all of them had been waiting in.
"Turles-" Raditz didn't get a chance to continue his thought as Turles' hand crushed down on his throat.
Gohan immediately jumped to his feet but Ginyu's hand immediately appeared ln his shoulder restraining the child from intervening. They all were curious about what Raditz had to say.
"Now that you understand the situation speak!" Turles ordered not bothering to reduce the pressure the frantically struggling Saiyan's throat.
Raditz's mind was working desperately trying to come up with a story that Turles could believe besides having a dream conversation with his long dead psychic commander.
He realized his time was up almost immediately though as Turles began to loosen the pressure on his throat, allowing desperately needed air into his oxygen starved lungs.
Before he had a chance to speak though Jeice burst into the room. "Capt'n! Ship incoming!"
"What? Get it on the view screen." Ginyu ordered as Turles loosened his grip completely and allowed Raditz to drop to the ground.
A ship similar in design to their own rapidly approached the system, apparently unable to notice their own ship in a close orbit around the planet's moon.
Within a few minutes the ship had briefly entered orbit before diving down into the atmosphere.
Turles watched the ship descend with a triumphant look on his face. "Jiece have Burter take us down. It's time we meet our new guest."
In the background Raditz rose back up to his knees, rubbing his sore throat. Somehow he had been saved, at least for the time being.
"This world will do nicely." Taiga ideally muttered as his handful of newly acquired servants took off to plant the tree.
If the Saiyans had survived he had no doubt they were racing across the galaxy gathering as much strength as possible, much like he himself was. Soon he would have to begin expanding his harvest to try and finally be the deciding factor in the arms race he was sure they currently were in.
Ideally the Frost Demon's mind drifted first to what sort of bounty this world offered him. So far he had only come across a single world to offer more than 15 fruits in one sitting. This world seemed much more average than that. Maybe 7 to 10. It was still hard for him to estimate.
His mind continued to wander to his life once he not only wrestled control of his family away from Tundra, but of his entire race on planet Frost.
Eventually his wondering faded as he noticed some time had passed and there was still no tree growing on the horizon.
'Seriously...I've shown those imbeciles how it's done three times already, can they not figure out how to plant even a simple tree?' Taiga thought as he lifted into the air moving generally in the direction his soldiers has gone.
After flying all the way across the planet and failing to locate either a tree or his men Taiga let out a howl of frustration. "Where the hell are they!" As he whipped his head from side to side barely resisting the urge to start unleashing blasts wildly into the planet.
"Found ya!" A new unexpected voice rang out as Taiga was suddenly, violently ax-handled into the planet below.
Turles floated above the newly formed crater, silently counting down in his head before hearing an absolutely guttural scream below as Taiga unleashed a wall of energy out in all directions. He watched as Taiga blasted back towards him waiting until the Frost Demon was halfway back towards him before pointing a single hand his direction "Calamity Cannon!"
A massive purple wall of energy shot down colliding with the enraged Frost Demon and forcing him back down into the crater again.
After a few seconds of silence Turles decided it was time to talk.
"You're going to have to do better than that if you want out of that hole. Frankly I'm not impressed with the power you've shown so far. Go ahead. Show me you're best!" He shouted down, his voice echoing for miles.
Slowly Taiga flowed upwards seemingly in control of his rage once more. His body was scuffed and scratched, but none of the wounds were currently bleeding a sign he had already taken the time to partially heal himself with the Tree of Might fruit he undoubtedly was keeping on him.
Turles again fired an attack this time much smaller attack towards Taiga who effortless deflected it off towards the side.
"So you decided payback was in order." Taiga stated more than asked as he finally became level with the Saiyan he had been sent to kill. Unlike last time though his opponent appeared to be in perfect health, and was absolutely brimming with confidence.
"Well it's only fair after how you began our last meeting." Turles responded with a sneer.
"Well now that it is out of your system, let's get down to business. I think it is safe to assume you're the reason my team went missing?" The Frost Demon asked coldly.
"Well technically my team did that not me personally." Turles replied with a chuckle.
"Since you saved me the trouble of hunting you down myself I suppose we should get it over with." Taiga added as a purple aura surrounded him.
"With pleasure." Turles replied his aura matching that of Taiga.
An instant after both auras vanished both warriors launched forward, each fist colliding with the other's face before their previous afterimages could even vanish.
The blows failed to cause either fighter to even flinch as Turles's right fist collided with Taiga's forearm immediately afterwards.
Both warriors vanished from sight only to appear again with Taiga's outstretched foot meeting Turles's raised knee.
Again and again the two warriors appeared and disappeared their blows shaking the ground for miles around.
Several thousand feet below, Turles' forces watched the fight unfold, each carefully concealing themselves ready to spring the next stage of their trap if necessary.
On their scouters all of the fighters couldn't help but discuss the fight going on above them.
"They're ya go, right in the kisser!" Jeice shouted as Turles's afterimage landed a vicious haymaker to Taiga's after image.
"Jeice we need to talk about your training regimen if you're just now seeing attack." Ginyu grumbled as he himself was watching the fight nearly in real time.
The only two fighters truly capable of watching the fight in real time, at least in at its current level, were the two Saiyan warriors. Even then it took Raditz's utmost concentration to follow the fight.
"Hey! That was a nice one!" Recoome shouted derailing the conversation as he himself saw the same attack Jeice had just moments before.
"Damn it Recoome, are you even listening to what I'm saying? I'm doubling all of your training regimes after this." Ginyu added frustrated with hearing the spaced out reactions to each and every blow of the fight.
"Wait! What just happened?" Several of the weaker fighters shouted in confusion as the fighting suddenly intensified and they lost track of the fighters completely.
"Gohan you can still follow this right?" Raditz asked hopefully, as he could now only catch occasional glimpses of the fight.
Gohan gritted his teeth trying desperately to keep up but the fight was still intensifying, slowly changing from a slight blur, to fragmented pieces of a fight, and finally just occasional still shots. "Sorry, they're going too fast." Gohan finally admitted leaving all the fighters below in the dark.
Taiga was beginning to get frustrated, he had been sure he would've taken at least a slight advantage by now, but it seemed Turles had been able to raid planets just as fast as he had keeping an ever so slight advantage over him. What was worse, Taiga was nearing his maximum.
Desperately Taiga flared his strength to its maximum and lashed out with his tail throwing Turles back towards the ground.
Something was wrong though, as Turles shrunk into the distance, it almost looked like the Saiyan warrior had crossed his arms in contempt before coming to a halt about a thousand feet below him.
"So is this it?" Turles called up to Taiga as he lazily began to close the distance between them again.
Taiga felt a chill run down his spine. 'Don't tell me he's toying with me?'
"You know this is kind of a shame, I was hoping for more out of you after you stole my fruit." Turles taunted with a smirk as he finally became level with Taiga again, his arms still crossed; a deathly calm demeanor about him.
"Shut up! I'm not falling for your bluff!" Taiga defiantly shouted failing to keep himself calm as he fired a death beam at the Saiyan.
Turles allowed the attack to connect, shattering the armor right above his heart, but barely singing the skin beneath.
Taiga's nerves immediately shattered, as his mouth went dry. 'It's not going to end like this!' He shouted inside his head his body rushed into action. He unleashed a barrage of attacks out of attacks with his left hand and raised his right high above his head. There the ultimate attack of his kind began to form, a surefire planet killer.
Turles effortlessly deflected the attacks with his left hand before crossing his arms again watching Taiga's attack swell with anticipation, slowly positioning himself before the Frost Demon waiting patiently to intercept the attack.
Without warning Taiga launched it towards the ground shouting "Fine try to stop this!"
Finally the Saiyan uncrossed his hands and made contact with Taiga's ultimate attack his arms finally having a chance to test his strength.
Above sweat began to build on the Frost Demon's brow, even after extended charging he had given the attack, Turles was dealing with it just fine, it almost seemed as if he was playing with it even.
Finally Taiga snarled and raised his hand above his head once more, he refused to let the seemingly inevitable outcome come to pass. After a few seconds of charging; he released a second weaker attack intending to finish the fight on his terms.
"Gohan!" Raditz shouted as he realized the attack was heading right for Gohan's position.
Gohan had already spotted the danger and had appeared from his hiding place already charging his counter-attack.
Gohan's mind was racing, he already had his hands positioned to use the attack he had spent months copying. He was forcing every horrible memory he had accumulated over his short violent life. Shizen's death, Pyros's atrocities, Frieza's sadistic-ness, even his parent's deaths. If he didn't stop Taiga's attack here and now it would be a disaster as bad as any of those memories, in fact even worse.
A powerful pulse of energy raced through the young Saiyan warrior as a massive aura surrounded him. At the top of his lungs he shouted "Saturday CRUSH!"
The ground slowly began to crumble away as the extra energy from the twin attacks colliding, combined with the power Turles himself was putting out, ate into the surface.
Raditz was stopped in tracks, forced to cover his face from the power blasting out of his nephew.
Sweat was now pouring down Taiga's forehead as he mentally willed his two attacks downwards, lacking enough strength to sustain a third one.
As both attacks slowly drifted higher into the sky Taiga had enough. "Screw it." He muttered as he flew straight up hoping to escape the planet's atmosphere.
Turles noticed his prey beginning to escape and let out a sigh, as he seemingly effortlessly threw the attack away. Allowing its new momentum to carry it out into space.
No longer restrained by his opponent's attack Turles again vanished from sight.
Taiga could see the rich darkness of space expanding in front of him a few more miles and he would be safe, there would be no way for his Saiyan pursuer to follow him. And if they brought a ship against him it would be a simple flick of his wrist and the lot of them would suffocate.
All of his momentum was suddenly cut off though, and the air forced from the Frost Demon's lungs as Turles' fist found a new home buries deep inside his abdomen.
Blood slowly began to pool in his mouth as Turles wiggled his fingers inside the newly formed cavity in the Frost Demon's stomach.
"You just had to ruin the good time didn't you?" Turles asked with a smug smirk on his face. "If you're done playing I guess we had better get down to business."
Taiga's face was backlit by Gohan's attack carrying his own out into space. His bloodshot eyes filled with the purest form of hatred as he tried to summon the strength needed to kill his tormentor once and for all.
"No comeback...fine I guess you're going to make this no fun at all." Turles grumbled. "First and foremost, tell me the location of your homeworld and I'll give you this." Turles said as he held one of his precious fruits before the Frost Demon's eyes
Taiga suddenly seemed to consider the offer, Turles was still light years away from being able to compete with the likes of Tundra and the other elite of his race. If he could get a taste of that fruit it would be possible for him to try and escape from the situation. He could even If he could somehow get his fingers on another fruit somewhere along the way he could still potentially become the new leader of his race after Tundra or one of the others finished the Saiyan upstart off.
"Fine...I'll guide you there myself…" Taiga offered, blood spilling down his mouth.
"No time for that, I'll need you to be out there gathering more fruit for me with the others. First I need those coordinates though, so I know I can trust you." Turles replied back the look on his face softening somewhat.
'Is this Saiyan really foolish enough to let me work on my own?' Taiga asked himself unable to believe his ears. "Fine, you have a deal." Taiga replied trying to keep the excitement out of his voice.
A few hours later Turles and the rest of his crew were sitting on one of the branches of the Tree each savoring the planet's delicious life energy. Leaning up against the trunk behind them was Turles' trophy from this conquest, Taiga's severed head, a look of rage and horror trapped on his face, now impaled on a makeshift spike.
After eating his last bite of fruit Turles stood up and walked over to the smallest member of his crew, who was awkwardly waiting off to the side, still banished from eating the legendary fruit.
"Hey brat, you did well today." Turles said with a teasing smile on his face.
"Thanks...sir." Gohan said catching himself just short of forgetting to add the second word.
"Here, eat up" Turles surprised Gohan by tossing him one of the fruits he seemingly always kept on his person, "As long as you don't screw up again you're punishment is over." He added before returning to his original spot, admiring his own handy work.
Gohan quickly added a thank you before eating it in just 3 bites. Finally things were looking up for the Saiyan child again.
That night Raditz had turned in early, falling quickly into a deep slumber. The darkness of his sleep was quickly interrupted by another visit from a familiar voice. "You've done a good job so far my friend." Shizen said suddenly standing before Raditz in the blank white room the Saiyan warrior found himself in.
"Shizen? Am I dreaming again?" Raditz asked himself looking around confused.
"Yes you're dreaming, it is the only way I've found to talk to you so far. You can learn many new techniques in the afterlife, especially for someone like myself." Shizen replied with a tired smile.
Raditz didn't really know how to react so he crossed his arms trying to get down to business. "Alright, well it looks like everything has worked out now. Are you just here to talk or do you have something else you need to tell me?"
Shizen seemed to consider Raditz's question for a moment before replying, "No warning...yet, just a suggestion. You should take some time to bond with Gohan more, the peaceful stretch coming up won't last forever. I must go now my friend, thank you again for listening to my warnings."
"Wait, what do you-" Before Raditz could ask his question he was alone in the room, left to ponder his former commander's' words.
Another short chapter but hopefully everyone enjoyed it!

I'm glad you enjoy their interactions so much, they are hard, those three Saiyans are definitely 3 of the characters I feel like I have the hardest time doing justice to. No 3 chapter wait this time :) It'll be a few chapters before we get back to them again though, things are about to get interesting on Earth.
So how I have the tree of might fruit working is like a permnent boost of 5000-10,000 per fruit. It also seemed to have magical healing properties similar to a senzu bean, allowing fighters to get a zenkai boost if they were injured before eating it. The one bite thing is kinda just lazy writing on my part, sorry :(
Lazy boys do make for good de facto thrones ;)

I can understand you noticing the difference in attention. So although the Z fighters are savants when it comes to combat, most are not considered genius like most of the villains are.
Since Vegeta didn't have a way to communicate with Goku, he simply assumed that Gohan and Raditz had perished in the obvious slaughter he had found at the base. Also they had no way of knowing how much Raditz and Gohan's strength had grown, even though it was nothing compared to the others, their growth rate would've still be almost unheard of in PTO circles. Hopefully you continue to enjoy the Gohan plot line.
The dragon is kind of a deus ex machina that I've been fighting since the beginning of the story. You have a good point about King Furry probably putting an immense about of pressure on them to use the dragon balls to find Dr. Gero. At the same time, you have a group of very prideful fighters who have to deal with the fact that they would be denied their fight if Dr. Gero is found early. Besides no one anticipated Dr. Gero knowing that they know about him.
I will try to do better in the future to plan out the hero/villain give and take. Hope you continue to enjoy the story :). Hopefully I answered all that well enough. If I didn't please let me know :)

Glad you enjoyed it :). There stamina with it would be similar to Saiyan or Namek Saga Goku using Kaioken. There is a limit to how fast he can absorb, but no limit to how much he can. Wheelo and Gero had a decent amount of respect for each other, at least enough to have a working relationship.

So just like how the amount each fruit gives you, the amount of fruit from a given world varies also, usually between 7-15 fruits per planet though.
Taiga is pretty similar to Frieza in terms of personality.

I will see if I can find a place for them to make an appearance. I have an idea on roles that I was going to have to come up with some more characters for, but I could probably put them in there just as easily.
I keep thinking i've had him attempt to use the kamehameha at least once before, but I haven't been able to find it. Gohan has been picking up moves from everyone around him, don't worry :)
He gave him some as a test, but yeah things are thawing, Turles is like a parent that gets angry quickly but then can't stay mad at anyone very long
Also thanks for catching that mistake, I think I removed it right after reading your review the first time, I will try and double check that later tonight. :)
I think that means the story has officially made it to the big time :).
I've unfortunately let those fighters drift to the background more than I was hoping, I will try to give you an update on those fighters soon. I think Chi Chi is on the list on my profile already I can double check again though.
Right now not much interesting is going on with Frieza, he has been reduced to a chew toy for the weaker Super Saiyans to play with.

Glad you enjoyed it :). Yeah the evolution between those two from chapters 5, 7, and 11 to now has been awesome to write, hopefully I am doing it justice.
Gohan has sort of become jaded to it, he sees it as a means to becoming strong enough to not have to do it anymore, but over the last few years he has learned to block it out and just not think about it.
There are rumors that Turles fell from power already, and chaos is spreading throughout as more and more planets just disappear. Turles had contacted a handful of planets to try and have them scout ahead of him at the risk of him destroying their own worlds if they crossed his path.

Paragus doesn't understand why the giant tree has become to common throughout this area of the galaxy.
Cepa and her son haven't had a whole lot of contact lately, his been distracted.

Since the main source of his power is magical in origin instead of natural training I think he could exceed that limit, his zenaki's would start dropping rapidly though.

Yes the Androids are aware, that is why they are hesitant to use it.
If it damaged too much it will stop functioning entirely, leaving them powerless.
Yes they are the same type of model as 17 and 18.

Taiga sees Turles as a primitive that should be crushed beneath his feet.
That might be an interesting fight ;)
It just depends on how long it takes them to move, they've been traveling around in constant combat for centuries, sometimes they move their way, other times they move another. The Saiyans pay attention and try to move out of the way ahead of time.
They might've tried when they first arrived, it would not have gone well for them though.

Yes since Tawas is a Ssj 2 he is more powerful than Slug.
That would be a really good fight actually. I would say they are about equal in her first Super Saiyan state.
More or less they are, they have been locked in an endless fight spanning over a thousand years after all.

Thanks for the review! I can't answer that unfortunately. I've hinted at three different characters potentially being the threat so far and at least one of them is canon so that would ruin the fun if I eliminated one or more of them, sorry

Currently we are at a hair over 135,000 views. They don't give us a all time total for visitors, they are different counts for the sight. I was keeping up with it for a while on my own but I am about a year out of date on that, so it will take me a while to get all caught up with that. Visitors seem to be the more accurate count though so I will try to get that totaled up sometime soon.
Tundra is about 50,000,000, just a bit weaker than Frieza's mom Chill was at 60,000,000. Chiller is just a bit weaker than Tundra, I'd say 40 or 45 million. He was Frieza's maternal grandfather in case that connection wasn't clear ;) Chill's death a head of time knocked Chiller's family from it's rank as solidly the most powerful clan to 4th place, making them easy pickings for Cooler's family and the new number two family.
Taiga would be one-shot at the moment. He is about a 1/10th of their power. He was considered a distant family member, and was by no means one of the elite of the family.
A little over a year. The last fight was 1 year 9 months after the death of King Cold, so 1 year and 3 months I guess.
They either lack a body or for the ones just strong enough to have a body, they hide and pray nothing finds them for their eternal stay down there.

Glad you are enjoying the story :). Yeah you have a lot of different personalities all clumped together. It wouldn't have been as much of an issue if Bulma hadn't given 19 brain damage though XD. 19 is probably going to look for lunch, 13 is the one who is going to be faced with some hard choices :)
They are both in hell, they are both distracted at the moment though ;)

Thanks for the review. I think you will like what is in store for Broly :). I am sorry that the meetup is so late in the story, the story has grown a lot from my original plans, with mini arcs and other full blown arcs I have thought of throughout the process. It was always intended to be the halfway point/turning point of the story. So hopefully the wait will be worth it :)
Cell is in a very perspicacious situation at the moment, he is going to have to use his Bulma/Gero powered brain to it's limit to get through things :)
Yes Overdrive will be overkill for him :)
