CHAPTER 39: FESTIVE CONSPIRACY

Daphne raised an eyebrow, her skepticism evident. "Alright, genius, I'm intrigued. What's this grand plan of yours?"

Harry leaned forward, his voice lowering conspiratorially. "We're going to throw a surprise party for Adrian. A distraction, something he'll never see coming."

Remus chuckled softly, clearly impressed. "That could work. If he's caught up in planning and executing a party, he won't have time to cause more trouble."

"Exactly," Harry continued, a spark of excitement igniting in his eyes. "We'll get everyone involved, keep him busy, and remind him that there's more to this school than just Boggarts and gold."

"Are you sure he'll even want a party after all this?" Rose asked, her tone cautious. "He might just want to avoid attention for a while."

Harry shrugged. "That's the beauty of it. We'll make it so extravagant that he can't resist. Everyone loves a good celebration, and it'll help him forget his mishap—at least for a little while."

Daphne grinned, her interest piqued. "What do you have in mind? Decorations, food, games?"

"All of the above," Harry replied, his enthusiasm bubbling over. "We'll sneak around tonight and gather supplies. I've got a few ideas for games that will keep everyone laughing and engaged. We'll make it memorable."

"Count me in," Daphne said eagerly. "I'll help with the decorations. We could even charm some lights to dance around the room."

"Good idea!" Harry nodded, then looked at Remus. "And you, Professor? We could use your help too."

Remus smiled. "I'd be happy to help. I know a few spells that could create a great atmosphere. And who knows, maybe we can even bring in a few of those treats from Honeydukes."

"Perfect!" Harry exclaimed, the gears of his plan beginning to turn. "Rose, do you want to handle the food? I'm sure you've got some good ideas."

"Absolutely," Rose replied, her smile widening. "I could whip up some treats that'll impress everyone, especially Adrian. He's a sucker for sweets."

"Then it's settled," Harry said, feeling a surge of excitement. "We'll meet after curfew tonight to start planning everything. We can keep it a secret from Adrian until the last minute."

As they spoke, the atmosphere in the hospital wing shifted, the earlier tension dissipating as they focused on their shared mission. Harry felt a sense of camaraderie growing, a reminder that even in the face of adversity, they were a team.

"We should also come up with a way to distract him on the day of the party," Daphne suggested, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Something that will keep him from figuring out what we're up to."

Remus nodded thoughtfully. "Perhaps we could arrange for him to be 'invited' somewhere else, giving you all time to set everything up without him knowing."

"I love it," Harry said. "We could say it's some kind of special meeting with Dumbledore or something."

"Maybe we can even use a few spells to make it look official," Daphne added, her excitement contagious.

As they brainstormed, the mood lifted, and laughter filled the room, drowning out the earlier tension. Harry felt grateful for the support of his friends, realizing that this was precisely what he needed to feel better about everything that had happened.

Just then, Madame Pomfrey entered the room again, holding a tray of potions. "What's all this ruckus about? I thought you were supposed to be resting."

"Just discussing plans for a party," Harry said, his voice bright with enthusiasm.

"A party? In the hospital wing?" she raised an eyebrow, feigning disapproval, but Harry could see the corners of her mouth twitching.

"Just a little celebration to lift everyone's spirits," he added, grinning.

"Make sure it doesn't turn into a ruckus, or I'll have to throw you all out," Madame Pomfrey warned, but her tone was more playful than serious. "And Harry, you really should focus on healing. You can plan a party once you're fully recovered."

"Fine, fine," Harry replied, waving her off. "But I can still think about it, right?"

"Thinking is allowed," she said, setting the tray down on a nearby table. "Just don't let it get out of hand."

With that, she left the room, leaving the trio to their planning. As they continued discussing ideas for the party, Harry felt a renewed sense of hope. They had turned a moment of chaos into an opportunity for connection, and together they would make sure that Adrian knew he was not alone in facing the challenges ahead.

"Tomorrow's going to be brilliant," Harry said, a smile spreading across his face. "Let's make it unforgettable."

Daphne and Rose nodded, their spirits high as they began to plot the details of their surprise party, knowing that it would be a night to remember for everyone involved.

As night fell, the trio snuck out of the hospital wing, careful to avoid Madame Pomfrey's watchful eye. Harry, Daphne, and Rose moved through the dimly lit corridors of Hogwarts, whispers of excitement filling the air as they made their way to the common room.

"Okay, so we have the decorations covered," Daphne said, glancing at a roll of enchanted streamers she had tucked under her arm. "What about food? I have a few ideas, but we'll need help."

"I've been thinking about some classic Honeydukes treats—Chocolate Frogs, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and maybe some Cauldron Cakes," Rose replied, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "We can charm them to look extra festive!"

"Sounds perfect!" Harry agreed. "And let's not forget about the games. I want something fun to keep everyone entertained."

"I can conjure up a few magical versions of classic games," Daphne suggested. "How about Exploding Snap or Wizard's Chess? They'll keep Adrian distracted while we set up."

As they reached the Gryffindor common room, Harry pushed the portrait open, revealing a warm and inviting space filled with soft armchairs and flickering candlelight. A few early-night owls were scattered about, studying or chatting quietly, but the trio quickly caught the attention of their friends.

"Hey, what's up?" Ginny called out from her spot on a couch, a curious smile on her face.

"Big surprise coming up," Harry said, a grin stretching across his face. "And we need your help."

Ginny raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of surprise?"

"A party for Adrian!" Daphne blurted, unable to contain her excitement. "He needs a distraction after everything that happened."

The Gryffindor common room erupted with interest. "Count me in!" exclaimed Ron, who had been munching on a handful of Bertie Bott's beans. "I'll help with the food!"

"Fantastic," Rose said, pulling out a parchment and quill. "Let's make a list of everything we need!"

As they brainstormed, the room filled with energy, laughter echoing off the walls as ideas bounced back and forth. Hermione joined them soon after, her brow furrowed in concentration.

"What's this about a party?" she asked, her eyes narrowing in suspicion but unable to hide her curiosity.

"Just a little something to lift Adrian's spirits," Harry explained. "We want him to know he has friends who care."

"I like it," Hermione said, nodding approvingly. "What can I do to help?"

"Help us with the planning," Rose suggested. "We need ideas for games and activities that won't be too chaotic."

"I've got a few spells that could help with that," Hermione said, her eyes brightening. "And I can prepare some of my famous pumpkin pasties for the food."

"Brilliant!" Harry grinned, thrilled at the growing enthusiasm. "If everyone pitches in, we can make this unforgettable!"

As they planned late into the night, the camaraderie strengthened their resolve, creating a sense of unity among them. Ideas flowed like a river, each suggestion sparking laughter and more creative concepts.

Finally, as the clock struck midnight, they decided to break for a moment. "Alright, everyone, we've got a solid plan," Harry said, surveying the gathered group. "Tomorrow, we execute the surprise!"

"Let's make sure we're ready before Adrian shows up," Daphne reminded them. "We'll need to have everything set up in the Room of Requirement before he even suspects a thing."

"I'll distract him during lunch," Ginny volunteered. "I'll make up some story to keep him busy while you all get things ready."

"Perfect!" Harry clapped his hands together. "We'll meet back here after breakfast to finalize everything."

As the group began to disperse, Harry felt a warmth in his chest. It was more than just excitement for the party; it was the realization that they were in this together. He had faced numerous challenges before, but this time, he wouldn't face them alone.

The next day, excitement buzzed in the air as they prepared for the party. Harry, Daphne, and Rose gathered in the Room of Requirement, which had transformed into a vibrant party space adorned with colorful streamers, enchanted balloons, and a table overflowing with magical treats.

"Alright, this looks incredible!" Harry exclaimed, surveying their work. "We've outdone ourselves!"

Just then, Ginny entered, her eyes wide with surprise. "It looks amazing! Adrian is going to be so happy."

"Now we just need to keep him away long enough to finish setting everything up," Daphne said, peeking out the door to check for any signs of their unsuspecting target.

"Here he comes!" Ginny hissed, her voice barely a whisper. "Quick, everyone hide!"

They scrambled behind furniture and under tables, barely stifling their giggles. As Adrian stepped into the Room of Requirement, confusion flashed across his face, but that quickly turned into curiosity.

"Where am I?" he muttered, glancing around the festive space.

"Surprise!" everyone yelled, jumping out from their hiding spots.

Adrian's expression transformed from confusion to sheer disbelief as he took in the colorful decorations and the group of grinning friends. "What is all this?"

"A celebration for you, of course!" Harry said, stepping forward with a broad smile. "We wanted to remind you that you have friends who care about you, no matter what."

Adrian's eyes softened, and a smile broke across his face. "You all did this for me?"

"Of course!" Rose replied, offering him a plate filled with goodies. "Now come on, eat up! We have games to play and fun to be had!"

As the party kicked off, laughter and chatter filled the air, the earlier tension forgotten. Harry watched as Adrian joined in, his mood visibly lightening. It felt good to see his friend happy again, and he knew they had made the right choice in throwing this surprise party.

With friends gathered around, Harry felt a sense of hope. Together, they could face anything that came their way, and for now, they would celebrate the bond they shared.

The atmosphere in the Great Hall shifted from shock to intrigue as Peter Pettigrew, now fully revealed in his human form, cowered on the floor, a look of sheer terror etched on his face. The students, previously screaming and gasping, fell silent, their attention riveted on the unfolding drama.

"Harry, what have you done?" Ron stammered, his eyes darting between Pettigrew and Harry. "You can't just—"

"Can't just what?" Harry interrupted, his confidence surging. "Expose a rat? He's been living as a pet while his former friends rotted in Azkaban! Besides, I'm pretty sure we have more pressing issues than Ron's pet problems." He gestured to the now-revealed traitor, who was scrambling backward, trying to escape the accusatory gazes of the hall.

"Pettigrew!" Amelia Bones shouted, her voice steady despite the chaos. "You're under arrest for the betrayal of the Potters and for your role in the return of Voldemort."

"Just a minute!" Pettigrew squeaked, his voice high-pitched with panic. "This isn't fair! You can't just throw accusations at me! I was framed!"

"Framed?" Dumbledore interjected, raising an eyebrow. "You're hardly in a position to plead your case, Pettigrew. You've been living under a false identity, avoiding justice for years."

Kingsley stepped forward, wand drawn but cautious. "You're coming with us, Pettigrew. The Ministry will decide your fate. You can't hide behind your little charade anymore."

Harry felt a surge of satisfaction as he watched Pettigrew squirm. "Remember, he's the one who caused all this mess," he said, pointing at the trembling man. "He's the reason Sirius went to prison. He betrayed my parents!"

"Your parents?" Pettigrew wailed, glancing wildly at the Aurors and Dumbledore. "You think you can just pin this all on me? I had no choice!"

"No choice?" Harry scoffed, stepping closer. "You could've protected them. You chose to be a coward. You chose betrayal."

"Enough of this!" Amelia commanded, motioning to the Aurors to take Pettigrew into custody. "We have procedures to follow. He'll be dealt with according to the law."

As the Aurors approached, Pettigrew's bravado faltered. "Wait! You can't take me! I have rights!"

"Rights?" Tonks, who had remained silent until now, stepped forward, her expression one of mock sympathy. "What rights do you think you have? You forfeited any claim to rights the moment you sold out your friends!"

"Stop!" Pettigrew cried, looking more like a frightened child than the once-cunning traitor. "You don't know what it was like! I was scared! They would have killed me!"

"Scared?" Harry said, incredulous. "You had the chance to save them! You've only ever cared about yourself!"

With that, the Aurors seized Pettigrew, who squirmed in their grasp. "This isn't over! You'll regret this!" he spat, but his threats rang hollow.

"Take him away," Amelia instructed, her voice firm. As they began to lead Pettigrew out, she turned to Harry and Sirius. "What you've done here is extraordinary, but be prepared for the consequences. This isn't a game."

"Oh, we know," Sirius replied, an impish grin on his face. "But it's about time the truth came out, don't you think?"

Dumbledore nodded solemnly, observing the end of a long chapter in the lives of those involved. "Yes, but there will be repercussions. The Ministry will want to know how you uncovered Pettigrew's identity."

"Who cares?" Harry said, his confidence unwavering. "He's finally being held accountable for what he did. That's all that matters."

The students erupted into applause, the sound echoing around the Great Hall. Harry felt a rush of pride; his heart swelled at the support of his friends and classmates.

"You did it, Harry!" Ron shouted, his face beaming with admiration. "You actually did it!"

"Let's just say I've had some experience dealing with rats," Harry replied with a grin, glancing at Scabbers, now transformed back into a frightened Pettigrew.

As the Aurors escorted Pettigrew out of the hall, a sense of relief washed over Harry. He had turned the tables on the man who had caused so much pain, and it felt right. For the first time in a long time, the darkness that loomed over their lives seemed to lift, if only a little.

The feast resumed, laughter and chatter filling the hall once again, but this time it was lighter, tinged with the thrill of justice. Harry exchanged glances with Sirius, who looked proud.

"Not bad for a day's work, eh, kid?" Sirius said, ruffling Harry's hair.

Harry chuckled, feeling the warmth of camaraderie envelop him. "Not bad at all."

As the dinner continued, Harry's mind drifted to the future. There would be challenges ahead, but he felt more prepared to face them than ever. Together with his friends, they had turned a pivotal moment into a victory, and he would carry that feeling with him into whatever awaited them next.
