Was it luck or coincidence? I couldn't help but wonder as a beautiful, well endowed woman with dark green hair and eyes introduced herself to me. She was very attractive and I couldn't help but be drawn to her bountiful chest. Damn hormones.
"Thank you for the aid. My name is Cheryl." Cheryl thanked, looking at the Pokéball that held her recent capture. "Sadly, this Burmy was also a female."
"It was no bother. If you don't mind me asking, why are you seeking out a male Burmy?"
We were in the Eterna Forest when I had encountered Cheryl while hunting for Pokémon to capture. I was surprised to learn that she was looking for Burmy and decided to aid her after being drawn to her beauty. Sadly, all the ones he had encountered thus far had been female.
"Because only male Burmy evolve into Mothim. And only Mothim's powerful sense of smell can help me find the Ember Castle." Cheryl explained.
"Amber Castle?"
Cheryl nodded her head. "It is said to contain enchanted honey, which is said to be thousands of times sweeter than normal honey. That is what I am seeking out in this forest."
"I see." A treasure hunter, huh. During my time in this new life, I never bothered about anything else but Pokémon and never thought there would be other ventures out there for me. "Do you mind if I tag along? My Pokémon are all strong and can help you out." And hopefully convince her to become my traveling partner. I wouldn't mind having a beautiful woman like her around as I travelled around the Sinnoh region.
"Thank you, that will be greatly appreciated." Cheryl smiled in gratitude and got out some more honey to paste on a tree.
While she did that, I tried to remember what Pokémon to catch in the Eterna Forest that would be worth adding to my team. Amber Castle: if I remember right there was a Vespiquen that dwelled there and was quite strong for a wild Pokémon that evolved on its own. The Combee that dwelled there might be mad at me for capturing their queen but what did I care if I was never going to revisit the place again anyways.
From what I had gathered from the Pokémon Center and Reggie, Paul did not have a lot of Pokémon in his roster, but that was mainly due to his preference for keeping only strong Pokémon in his mind. Of course, I would do the same but when I was competing against other trainers in the Sinnoh League I knew that I would need more Pokémon in reserve so that my main battlers could rest between matches.
I would just need to make sure that the Pokémon that I caught were up to mine and Paul's standard, like with Ursaring and Aerodactyl.
Cheryl then took my hand and we hid in the bushes, waiting for other Pokémon to show up. Her Chansey waited in between us.
"Hey, once this is all over do you want to travel with me?" I couldn't help but ask.
It was always a shame in the games and show how Cheryl always showed up and then left, never to be seen again. Her Chansey would also be useful after battles to help heal my Pokémon.
Cheryl blinked in surprise at my question. "You are a Pokémon trainer though, and I am a treasure hunter. Not to mention, we just met."
I shrugged. "Doesn't bother me any. Besides, it must be lonely to travel on your own with only your Pokémon by your side. I think that you and I could both use the company."
Cheryl smiled in response. "Let's see how this turns out, then I'll decide."
"That's all that I ask."
Our attention was then drawn to the tree as various Pokémon began to gather around the honey, but no Burmy were spotted yet. I observed the Pokémon and noted that none of them seemed particularly strong so decided to not waste my time catching any of them.
Suddenly, a familiar cry echoed through the forest and a Burmy emerged to join the other Pokémon eating the honey. "Now's your chance." I told Cheryl.
"Yes, let's go, Chansey." Cheryl stepped out from behind the bushes with Chansey. "Use attract!"
Chansey spun around and winked, sending hearts flying at Burmy and Cheryl jumped in excitement when it reacted, becoming infatuated with her Chansey.
"Don't forget to attack." I reminded her.
"Uh, right. Chansey, use double slap!" Cheryl's Chansey obeyed the command and began to slap the Burmy, dealing damage to it. Burmy was unable to react due to being infatuated with her Chansey. After weakening it, Cheryl was able to catch it with her Pokéball. "We did it!" She cheered along with her Chansey.
"Now we just need to get it to evolve."
Cheryl nodded in agreement. "Think your Pokémon are up for the task?"
I grinned in response. "We'll see if your Burmy can keep up with my Pokémon."
"Let me get Chansey to heal him really quick." After getting her Chansey to heal her Burmy, Cheryl and I found ourselves a suitable field for our Pokémon to train. "Ready when you are."
I was glad that I still had Elekid, Chimchar, Croagunk, and Starly on me. I doubted her Burmy would stand a chance against Ursaring or Aerodactyl.
"Starly, standby for battle!" With sparkles announcing its presence, Starly let out a cry as it flew in the sky. "I'll let you have the first move."
"Burmy use tackle!"
"Go in low, Starly!" I ordered, hoping to give Cheryl's Burmy an easy mark. As Starly swooped down, Burmy leaped and to my surprise, reached Starly's height and slammed into it, sending Starly crashing into the ground. I was impressed with Cheryl's Burmy while Starly recovered from the attack and took flight. "Aerial Ace."
With a burst of speed, Starly swooped towards Burmy, causing Cheryl to panic. "Protect!"
A barrier lit up around Burmy, taking the brunt of the attack and an explosion occurred, covering both Pokémon in smoke. I was impressed with Burmy's stamina as it emerged unscathed while my own Starly was nearing its limit. That told me all I needed to know that I needed to put more training into my Starly instead of focusing on Elekid, Chimchar, and Croagunk.
"Hidden power!" Cheryl ordered.
Burmy's body began to glow and a burst of energy slammed into my Starly, causing it to crash into the ground next to me. At that moment, Cheryl's Burmy began to glow and I watched in astonishment as it quickly evolved into Mothim.
"That's enough." I halted the battled after Mothim let out a cry and Cheryl cheered.
"Thank you, Paul." Cheryl smiled and glanced over at my wounded Starly. "Let me heal your Pokémon as a reward." She let out her Chansey who proceeded to heal my Starly and then her Mothim.
"Now we can look for this Amber Castle."
"Yes." Cheryl nodded and looked at her Mothim.
Her Mothim then picked something up and began to fly off, surprising us. "I think Mothim may have picked up on the enchanted honey."
"Then let's get going."
We chased after Mothim and eventually found ourselves by a field of Pomeg flowers. A Combee then appeared next to Mothim before flying off.
"A Combee, we must be closed." Cheryl announced and we gave chase.
Eventually we came to a waterfall that was surrounded by large walls of Combee flying around the area. I was entranced by the scene and doubted I would have ever seen a scene like this in the games. Cheryl also stared in awe at the Combee until her Mothim flew to the waterfall.
"Mothim!" Cheryl gave chase and I followed after her.
Entering the waterfall we began to make our way through a series of tunnels until eventually we were blocked by a huge wall of Combee.
"Mothim use supersonic!" Cheryl ordered and the wall of Combee was blasted away as Mothim fired off its attack.
I was beyond stunned by the giant castle of honey that appeared, with multiple Combee flying about. We entered the large chamber until we were stopped by the queen of the Combee, Vespiquen.
"Cheryl, you may have come for the enchanted honey, but I also had a goal." I took out a Pokéball and threw it into the air. "Chimchar, standby for battle!"
"Paul!" Cheryl shouted as Chimchar emerged with its cry.
"You go get the honey. This Vespiquen is mine." I grinned at the challenge while Vespiquen glared at me.
"This isn't how I usually do things but I understand. We have different goals." Cheryl nodded and ran past the Vespiquen with her Mothim.
"Chimchar use flame wheel!" I ordered Chimchar, engulfed in flames rapidly spun at Vespiquen and slammed into it, engulfing it in flames.
Vespiquen let out a cry of pain before countering but Chimchar easily avoided the attack. I could tell that it had received a lot of damage due to the super effective my Chimchar had landed and decided one more would be enough.
"Flame wheel, one more time!"
Vespiquen was engulfed in flames once more before I tossed a Pokéball at it, watching as it was sucked inside before falling to the ground. I ignored the angry Combee while the Pokéball rocked back and forth until it clicked, signifying a successful capture.
"Good work, Chimchar." I approached my newly caught Pokémon and picked it up to scan it with my Pokédex. Impressed with its stats and ability, I clipped it to my belt just as Cheryl returned with her jar of enchanted honey. "We should get going."
"Yes." Cheryl nodded in agreement as the angry Combee were getting ready to retaliate.
We rushed out of the Amber Castle before eventually reaching a safe field away from all of the Combee.
"I should have expected you had another motive in mind when you joined me." Cheryl panted.
I shrugged. "I'm a Pokémon trainer. It's only natural for me to want to catch rare and powerful Pokémon."
"So it would seem." Cheryl sighed after catching her breath.
"Did you think about my offer?" I asked.
"It's true that it can be lonely sometimes and you have proven yourself to be reliable, along with your Pokémon." Cheryl smiled. "So long as you don't mind taking a couple of detours along your journey then I wouldn't mind accompanying you."
I smiled. "Who knows, while you're looking for treasure we might encounter some rare Pokémon along the way. I would be glad to have you as my companion, Cheryl."
"I shall be in your care." Cheryl reached out and we shook hands while Chimchar and Mothim cheered in delight, much to our amusement.
It would be an interesting experience for me to say the least and I couldn't wait to see what the future held in store for us.
