Chapter 32: Entreaty
Sesshoumaru scrutinized golden eyes so much like his own, yet an exact copy of their sire's. So many emotions reflected back at him from his brother's eyes–wariness, skepticism, distrust. But not fear. Indeed, Inuyasha had not feared him for many years now, not since the miko first appeared by his side.
What would it feel like to possess that level of trust from another being? He knew that it was entirely different from the reverence he was showered with by Jaken, and Rin's unwavering blind faith in his decisions and actions. Could he, himself, ever hope to harness the kind of power his brother wielded if he found the miko again? Would she give it to him, even if he did?
Taking a deep breath, Sesshoumaru finally entreated, "A way to reopen the portal may be ascertained, but only if the truth is known." Against all of his other screaming instincts in regards to involving his uncouth little brother, he decided at last to bury their past quarrels in order to move forward.
