"Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance." — Flemeth

Chapter Two: The Serpent

Enveloped in the dark and separated from all they had known, the three looked at each other.

"Thrown out," Faith quietly murmured.

"Throne out," Be-Get repeated.

A throne of sapphire suddenly appeared before them, created by his Word. Opaque yet seeming to glow from within, it radiated warmth and was beautifully and thoughtfully crafted.

It was solid matter, and as its existence played on the strings of the universe, the universe began to sing. Be-Get, Faith and Understanding were spellbound by its song for some time.

"Creation is singing a song of praise to its Creator," Understanding told Be-Get.

Be-Get began to hum the Song of Creation himself. "Hmmmmm. . ."

As he hummed, a vast and majestic throne room came into existence, sparkling and brimming with crystalline energies.

The Song of Creation is one that God-In-Eternity hears: an uninterrupted hymn of praise for existence. Each universe carries its own unique song, and all matter contributes to it, no matter how small or artificial. They are in harmony.

Song is of the Fourth Mystery: the mystery of the Material, Phenomenal Universe. In that it has appeared out of order, this too is an error.

"Would you like to sit down, Be-Get?"

"Eh."

A great winged and feathered serpent appeared before the throne, the first of what would later be known as the Seraphim.

He waited patiently to be named.

Be-Get: "I'm God!"

Serpent: "I'm God? That's my name?"

Understanding denied him: "No, you have misunderstood. Be-Get is God, not you."

"He said it looking right at me! That 'I'm God'!" His feathers ruffled in agitation.

"He says that a great deal," Understanding explained, "but he is referring to himself."

The serpent was outraged.

"You are a liar! I am greater than him, and also greater than you, because I tell the truth! This one proclaims me while you deny me!"

"And what about you?" the serpent questioned Faith.

"Hi, I'm Faith."

"I'm God, Faith."

"Huh?" Faith got confused, because now two beings were referring to God in the singular.

"Faith, I understand your confusion. I am Understanding, I understand. Understand this: the serpent is not God."

Understanding reassured her: "Be-Get was before the serpent."

"But wasn't Wisdom before Be-Get?"

"It is a mystery of the First Mystery, God." He did not elaborate further, because he understood it would no longer be a mystery.

"I like mysteries, they make me feel better about not understanding things," Faith mused.

The serpent decided to prove himself.

"Faith, look over there." He gestured his wings downwards, to the empty space below the throne room.

As they turned to look, Be-Get coughed: "Ahem." A moon suddenly appeared, simple and white.

Serpent: "LOOK! LOOK! I DID IT! I'M GOD!"

Understanding pleaded: "Be-Get, please correct him!"

Be-Get: "I'm God!"

Serpent: "Yes, what is it?"

Understanding had had enough.

"You have no understanding. I am very understanding. I understand how to deal with you!"

The Spirit of Understanding grabbed the serpent and flung him to the moon below.

Even though she couldn't see him anymore, Faith had faith, that there was a snake somewhere in existence.
