Summary: This is a story about all the events that happen after the final episode of the show. Crosses over into the events of the next generation.
Prologue
With his breath heaving, Nick took in what he had just done. He looked at the bloody tip of the staff he had rammed into Zerstorer. His eyes then glanced over to the body lying on the ground, noting how still and lifeless it was. He had done it. Zerstorer was finally destroyed! It felt so amazing that he couldn't believe it.
Out of the corner of his eye, Nick caught sight of the severed arm beside Zerstorer's body. He furrowed his brows, thinking about how it got there. He looked at Trubel across the way, he didn't remember her cutting the arm off.
"Well...if I didn't cut his arm off...and Trubel didn't do it...then who...?'" He internally wondered.
Taking a deep breath, he gasped as the realization hit him. He turned around slowly, fearing that they were gone. Nick fully turned to face his aunt Marie and his mother, Kelly. He still couldn't believe they were here. He didn't know how or why, but he was happy nonetheless. After all, his aunt and mother had been dead for some time now and he really missed them.
His voice full of curiosity and emotion, he asked them "How'd you know I needed you?"
"We feel it." Kelly said.
Nick took a breath and blinked.
"Why do you think Theresa came back?" His aunt Marie asked. "She felt it, too. We are all descendants of the first Grimm."
"That stick you found, the one our ancestors buried, is part of a much greater power." His mother added. "Guard it well." She and Marie gave their heads a nod, to emphasize the importance.
Nick finally took a breath of relief and shook his head. Looking at them with an apologetic face, he sighed. "You kept me from doing something terrible."
"We helped you find your strength." Marie agreed.
His mother grew a smirk on her face, "Take good care of my grandson. I like his name." Kelly smiled.
Nick smiled. He looked up at the sky in gratefulness. He felt like he was floating.
"I can't believe we did it." He heard Trubel's voice.
Nick swung his head to look at Trubel. She was clutching her side, and limping slightly. Her face gave away her pain, as it was pinched in a wince.
"The two of us, taking this thing down." She marveled as she stepped closer to Nick and the body.
Nick shook his head and scoffed, "The two of us? What are you talking about?"
She furrowed her brows in confusion. "Me and you. Who else?" She asked.
He turned his head back around to show her just "who else" had helped them defeat Zerstorer. He was met with air. His mother and aunt were nowhere to be seen as he looked around for them.
He looked back at Trubel. He thought of telling her they were there, but he knew she'd be even more confused. Instead he just let out a deep exhale and raised his shoulders in a shrug. She raised an eyebrow at him, but didn't say anything.
Agony taking place of confusion, Nick was bombarded as all the tragedies that had occurred in the past eight hours came rushing into his mind...
--
Eight hours earlier...
--
First to go was Wu and Hank. Wu wasn't a detective but a sergeant; however, in no way did that mean he was any different than Nick or Hank. Hank was Nick's right hand man and partner co-detective. The 3 of them combined at work made for an epic team in Nick's opinion. They had fought well when Zerstorer attacked the precinct, but luck hadn't been on their side when Wu was stabbed by Zerstorer's staff straight through his stomach. Not even his Lycanthropic inner beast could help his case. Hank had been enraged and was out for Zerstorer's blood. However, he was stabbed through the throat causing him to die instantly.
As devastated as Nick was, when he saw Monroe's reaction to the news about Hank and Wu, he somehow made himself believe he'd get through it. He knew he had an awesome support system, who were affected just as much. He was hopeful when Rosalee said there was a potion to destroy Zerstorer. He wanted that sorry son of a bitch to pay.
With the plan in action, Nick stayed behind at Monroe and Rosalee's Spice shop with Eve to grab some technical things Rosalee said they'd need. Eve told Nick it would've been convenient if she was still a Hexenbiest, they could just use her blood for the potion there at the shop. At the time, he didn't really care. He was just dead set on getting it done. They had been on their way to the door, when it came flying off its hinges. Eve said for Nick to go, that he was important for the potion, but he wasn't willing to let her fight Zerstorer alone. They had both been blasted off their feet, and by the time Nick stood up, he was too late. Eve had tried to use a knife against Zerstorer, but the magic of his staff had inevitably forced Eve to plunge it into her own stomach. Knowing she had failed, she yelled for Nick to get out of there; but of course he ignored her.
Nick came rushing to her side, catching her as she fell limp in his arms. He felt his world closing in on him as he felt the life leave her body. While no longer romantically involved, they were close friends and her death upset him.
"Eve." He gasped.
She was no longer the same, but seeing her lifeless in his arms again, Nick couldn't help but think and say it.
"Juliette." He whispered.
In a fit of rage that a third friend had been murdered, he destroyed the spice shop, wishing the cowardly monster would return to die. After getting in his desired amount of property damage, Nick gathered his wits and fled the shop to the cabin in the woods.
At the cabin, everyone was waiting. Monroe and Rosalee were there with the potion ingredients. Trubel was outside doing a perimeter sweep. Diana, the object Zerstorer claimed to have wanted in the first place, was in the corner being comforted by her father, Sean Renard. Nearby her mother, Adalind, was watching over sleeping baby Kelly, Diana's half-brother; the other intended object of Zerstorer's interest. When Nick arrived, the news of the precinct and shop incidents were brought to everybody's knowledge.
Getting down to business, the gang set the potion up. It called for the blood of a Grimm, a Wesen, and a Hexenbiest. They had decided the Grimm blood would come from Nick, the Hexenbiest blood from Adalind, and the Wesen blood from Monroe. As it seemed, none of the blood givers could be the one to stab their hands. Rosalee claimed she couldn't, seeing as she was already stressed and Monroe was her husband. Renard said he would do it; although, when he hesitated Trubel ended up doing it anyways.
Diana soon emerged from the other room with a possessed look on her face. She claimed that she felt different, not afraid. The gang thought she came across as almost eager. She said Zerstorer was close. Diana then went on to explain that Zerstorer was able to track down where Nick was becuase of the stick in his possession. Apparently Zerstorer had been looking for it for a very long time.
As Diana went outside the cabin door, the gang started to worry. Through the window, they could already see him out there. Leaving the cabin to defend Diana, the gang was truly terrified when the potion did absolutely nothing to Zerstorer. That was the moment all hell broke loose.
Zerstorer had killed everyone but Nick and the kids. He revived Trubel with the magic of his staff, telling Nick that he could bring them all back, as long as Nick gave him the stick he possessed.
Wanting to keep the children safe, along with the possibility of all of his friends being revived, Nick was seriously going to do it. He was going to give Zerstorer the stick. However, seeing as this would make Zerstorer all powerful, Trubel refused to let Nick hand it to the devil. That was when they had fought over it, ending when Nick won the fight, almost knocking Trubel unconscious.
From that moment on, Nick was about to do something unforgivable. That is, until his dead mother and aunt showed up to stop him. They had joined forces with Nick and had successfully put an end to Zerstorer. Trubel had apparently got the renewed strength, and had came back to help them.
--
Resurfacing from his memories, Nick slowly did a sweep of the area surrounding him. In his field of vision he could see Renard lying on the ground, the gaping whole through his chest from Zerstorer's staff. A few paces over by the BMW, he could see his best friend Monroe and his amazing wife Rosalee tangled up together. Nick couldn't believe they had been killed when Zerstorer's staff turned into a poisonous snake. It had bit them both and, even in death, their embrace showed how devoted they were to each other. The fact that their unborn triplets had died along with them created an unwelcome taste in Nick's mouth.
Saving the worst for last, Nick closed his eyes before opening them. He took in the sight of the love of his life lying on the cold, hard earth. Adalind. She had tried to aid Nick in his struggle with Zerstorer over the axe. She grabbed it and was going to chop into the beast, when he side-stepped it. Zerstorer then turned around, effectively slicing the axe head right into her heart. Seeing her limp and still, Nick could feel his stomach bottom out and his heart fall out of his body all in one go. He was tired of this feeling. Too much death had happened, all of his friends. His world was falling apart now all because of the efforts he had made to save it.
Nick looked to Trubel, then back at Adalind. "But I did nothing for them." He voiced.
Him and Trubel started walking towards Adalind, Nick painfully aware of every inch of her body as he took a step closer. When he reached where she lay, he threw Zerstorer's staff he still held on the ground. He knelt down closer to Adalind. Raking his eyes over her, he caught sight of the shiny ring on her left hand. It had been put there by Bonaparte, supposedly with a curse on her children if she were to ever remove it. Nick hated the damn thing. Adalind kept wearing it, even after Bonaparte had died. She claimed that curses are capable of living on even after the person who placed the curse was long gone.
Feeling that things couldn't possibly get any worse, Nick figured he could give Adalind one last favor to ease her mind in death. He removed the ring from her slender finger, and chucked it across the way to the other side of the woods.
"Nick! Where did they go?" A voice rang out in the silence.
He looked up to see the voice came from Diana. He suddenly remembered that her and his son were ok. That was almost enough to make him feel happy.
"Who?" Trubel asked her.
Diana looked between Trubel and Nick. "The other Grimm's fighting with you." She said, her gaze landing on Nick.
Nick was amazed that she had seen them. So he wasn't crazy, his mom and aunt really had helped. He suddenly realized that during the final fight, the stick he possessed had wound up going into Zerstorer's staff anyway. It had been the missing piece to the staff. With the new addition, the staff was complete, and at it's fullest power capacity.
As that thought faded out, the next one phased in. Zerstorer had revived Trubel with the power of the staff, maybe Nick could do the same for the others.
"Oh my God." He gasped. "I can bring them all back to life." He glanced back down at Adalind, then the staff beside her. He picked up the staff.
"What are you talking about?" Trubel asked him.
"If it worked for you, it could work for them too." He reasoned.
Trubel looked back at Zerstorer's body. "Nick, something's happening."
Trubel, Diana, and Nick all looked at the body. Nick stood up as the three of them saw Zerstorer decay into ash, only for all the ashes to swirl back together into a portal. Nick could instantly feel the force of the portal pulling the staff he wielded to it.
"No." Nick said.
"Nick..." Trubel said.
He tried to fight the pull, holding a tight grip on the staff.
"No!" Nick yelled in resistance.
The force was overpowering him, and pulling both the staff and Nick closer to it.
"Nick, no!" Trubel yelled, knowing he was losing the fight against the force. She tried to reach out for Nick, but he was already almost to the portal. "Nick! Nick, no!" She yelled.
Nick was grunting, losing the strength to fight against the pull. When he got to the portal he looked back at Trubel and Diana.
"Nick, NO!" Trubel screamed out a last time.
"Aah!" Nick yelped as he was sucked into the portal with the staff.
Nick came crashing through the mirror in Monroe and Rosalee's living room. Dazed and disoriented, Nick could hear faint murmuring.
"Eve!?" He heard.
"Nick!?" He faintly swore he heard come from Adalind.
"Nick!? I don't believe it..." Monroe's voice.
"Mommy, it worked. I got Nick back for you." Diana said.
Nick was so confused. He had to be either dead, or losing his mind. Wanting for what he thought he heard to be true, he sat up and looked around him.
He barely had enough time to get a glance at Monroe before someone else came rushing up right in front of him. His eyes adjusted, allowing him to focus in on the fact that the one in front of him was Adalind.
He watched as her eyes wildly raked over him, crouching to inspect him closer. Her cool hands came up to caress his face.
"Thank God you're ok!" She said.
Keeping his eyes focused on Adalind's face, he was able to steal a look at Eve on the floor beside him in his peripherals. Furrowing his brows, he could only manage to figure that he had been transported back to eight hours ago, when he and Eve returned through the mirror the first time.
This was his thought, but the logical side of him knew better than to get his hopes up. Besides, the idea was crazy.
Trying to wrap his brain around what in the world was going on, he gripped Adalind by her shoulders to see if she was really there. Sure enough, she was there in the flesh. His eyes took in every inch of her face, too entranced.
"You-you're alive." Nick let out a shaky breath.
"Yeah, so are you." She replied.
As a last test of his sanity, Nick dove for a passionate kiss. She met him with the same amount of eagerness. The kiss was exactly as he knew it to be. The smile on her face when they broke apart told him all he needed to know. He really was back in time! Adalind was alive!
He stood with Adalind still wrapped up in his embrace. "Oh my God." He exclaimed.
His breathing and heartbeat picking up in pace, he looked around at the other people in the room.
"You're all alive!" He gasped.
Nick took Adalind's left hand in his, taking time to notice how the ring was NOT there. That means the past eight hours did happen, just in his head maybe? He didn't really care, he was just so elated that a change in time had, in fact, been made. Nick hoped to everything that was holy that that meant that it wouldn't need to happen again.
"What happened?" A confused looking Eve asked.
Nick's attention then turned to Eve. "Eve!" He said.
In three long strides he was pulling her in for a tight hug. Eve was slightly still dazed, and was surprised with his behavior.
"You're ok!" His breathing heavy and fast.
"You're ok." He said again while taking a calming breath.
Trying to wriggle free from Nick's tight hold, Eve let out a strained "Yea..."
Nick released Eve and looked around the room again. "You're all ok." His head turned to face Renard, "Even you..."
He watched as Renard looked to the group, then back at him in confusion.
"Yeah, we-we're fine." Renard stammered. If Nick wasn't in shock right now, he'd laugh.
"It's you two we're worried about." Monroe said confused, gesturing towards Nick and Eve.
Nick turned his head to look behind him just in time. The door busted open and in rushed Hank, Wu, and Rosalee. Hank and Wu had their guns up just in case.
"Oh my God! We're too late!" Rosalee yelled as she ran ahead of the guys.
"Rosalee!" Nick said. They collided in a fierce hug, both relishing in the fact that their friend was ok. "Nick!" Rosalee exhaled.
As they parted, Nick caught sight of the guys accompanying her. He thrust himself into Hank.
"Hank, you're ok!" Nick wrapped Hank in a tight embrace. "God..." He sighed.
Hank returned the hug, only looking confused.
Wu was uber confused. "Wait, we're ok?" He asked Nick.
His words went unheard though as Nick turned to him. "And you...!" Nick revelled as he went in for a hug.
"Oh God! Oh my God..." Nick was over the moon. Wu's face showed just how majorly confused he was. "Yea...why? Wasn't I?" Nick suddenly let go of the shocked Wu.
He was looking him and Hank over, and was about to say somthing, when the front door burst open yet again.
"Trubel!" The group called out. "What are you doing here?" Asked Rosalee.
"I've been looking for you guys everywhere..." She replied out of breath. Trubel herself looked a tad dazed and confused.
"Trubel..." Nick said as he dove to hug her.
When they parted, Trubel looked to the group and Nick. "I had a feeling something bad was gonna happen..." She murmured. "But I guess it didn't."
The gang was confused, but sympathetic towards her anyways. They all nodded their heads.
Suddenly, Diana was at Eve's side, smiling wide. "What?" Eve asked. If at all possible, Diana's smile grew bigger. "You're a Hexenbiest again!" She happily answered. Eve's face showed disbielief and confusion, however she played along. "Again?" She regarded Diana with an endearing look.
Diana's gaze fell down from Eve's face, deep in thought. She turned to look at Nick.
"Nick. He didn't come back through." She shook her head as she walked up to his side. Nick looked down on her with the knowlege that she experienced the alternate future eight hours as well. He couldn't make sense of it, but it had happened, and he had fixed it to where there was no such thing as Zerstorer anymore.
He beamed down at her, with an equally radiant smile. "No. He didn't." He said. Diana gave a contemplative look. "He's dead. And, I'm not afraid anymore." She expressed.
Diana and Nick looked positively brilliant as they went to hug each other. "Neither am I." Nick beamed.
Suddenly, there was one person in particular that invaded Nick's mind. He needed to know this person was still ok. "Kelly..." He said, breaking the hug short. "Where's Kelly?" He urgently asked, noticing how some of the group was looking behind him. He quickly turned around to find his son safe and sound. He ran to his carseat, and bent down to examine Kelly closer. Nick was relieved to know that his son was ok.
With tears in his eyes, Nick looked back on the gang. He saw Adalind walk up to his side, giving him a loving glance. Nick turned back to Kelly, "Hey." He quietly murmured to him. "I'm so glad you're all here." He said louder, so the whole group could hear.
The gang regarded Nick with a sympathetically confused gaze. Hank was the one to speak first. "Nick, are you alright?" He asked.
Nick stood from his crouch and turned to face the confused gang. His throat was growing a lump in it, making it harder for him to speak. He was just so glad the people he loved were alive and well. He was overwhelmed with emotion.
"What's wrong?" Adalind asked.
Taking shaky breaths, Nick tried to stay composed. "I thought...you were all..." He struggled and failed to finish that sentence. He shook his head, trying to get the images out of his mind.
"Nick..." A sympathetic Rosalee let out.
Coming back from the traumatic thoughts, Nick pulled himself together. His face was lit up with a wide smile, "I'm just so thankful that you're all here." He walked forward to hold Adalind's shoulders.
They gazed lovingly at each other while they both took the feeling in that they were ok, and more importantly, back together.
Nick glanced at the group again. "I know this isn't gonna make a whole lotta sense, but when I was in the other place, I didn't know if I'd ever get back. And I felt what it would be like to lose all of you, everyone I ever loved, anyone who ever meant anything to me, my family."
"We thought we had lost you too, man." Monroe spoke up.
Nick smiled back at Adalind, who returned the gaze just as intensely. Adalind gave in to her emotions and went to hug him fiercely. Soon, the rest of the gang was coming together, effectively creating a group hug. "Oh, you're good, man." Trubel said. "We did it!" Rosalee exclaimed.
Monroe however, caught sight of something on the table where the mirror had been. "Uh, Nick?" He called the attention of the group. He grasped it ever so slightly, holding it up for them to see. "Where did this come from?" It was the staff.
Nick just looked at it. It was further proof that everything he experienced did indeed happen, without a doubt. But with that knowledge also came the hard fact that Zerstorer was really dead, and no one was in any danger. They were all going to be ok from now on. Well, as ok as their lives could get.
With a huge smile on his face, Nick took a deep soothing breath as he gathered his next thoughts to attempt to answer his friends question. Honestly he had no idea what to tell them, but he now had all the time in the world to think on it.
Author's Note: Phew!! Sorry, that prologue was epically long! It's just that I really wanted to touch base on what events occured at the end of the show, but too little info would confuse yall. Naturally, I tried to add slightly a bit (a lot lol) of info so that it wouldn't be as confusing as it would have been without it. However, I don't think I added way too much details, so there's a plus...(Hopefully lol)
