Scrooged Nami
Chapter 4
As a clock strike 2, Nami Scrooge is resting her head on her knees, with regrets, "How can I be so foolish? Why was I foolish?!"
But then, Nami Scrooge hearing chuckles from next to her, causing her to turn to see an Ogre wearing greenish brown robe and wreath on his head.
"You know," The Ogre started, "Whining about the past won't change it."
Nami Scrooge scream before tries to get away but the Ogre grab her front nightdress and keep her here, "Ah, ah, ah, ah. You're not going anyway, yet."
"Please?! Let me go!" Nami Scrooge begged, "Don't eat me!"
"Why would the Ghost of Christmas Present, that is me, Shrek, wants to eat disgusting, greedy little rat like you?!" Shrek asked, "Especially when he has something more tastier than you. See?" Shrek pull back the bed curtains, revealing a pile of food.
Nami Scrooge is amazed. When the Ogre release Nami Scrooge, she starts wondering around the room.
"Mince pies. Turkey. And Fruit Cake!" Nami Scrooge said.
"And plenty more of those." Shrek said as he stand in the centre of the room, "So, ready to go?"
"...I'm ready!" Nami Scrooge said.
Shrek smiles...only for the moment before fall when he watches Nami Scrooge climb on her bed.
"Ready to go back to bed." Nami Scrooge said.
"Hey! We have very tight schedule." Shrek said, "And we're going."
"And how are you going to make me?" Nami Scrooge asked.
As if something was waiting for that Shrek bending down and picking Nami Scrooge up before slinging her over his shoulder.
"Hey! Put me down!" Nami Scrooge yelled as Shrek magically, leaving the building and walk through the streets as if by magic, the day has arrive and everyone around them, enjoying the special day, "Put me down I'll fund you so high, you have to work in haunted house for years! This is definitely kidnapping! PUT ME DOWN!"
(A while later)
Shrek continue carrying Nami Scrooge who after given up, is watching and looking at everyone enjoying their Christmas time.
Then, "Here we are." Shrek said as he roughly, put Nami Scrooge down.
Getting up a bit, Nami Scrooge turn to see a nearly broken houses, "Why did you bring me to this useless places?"
Shrek grab the back of Nami Scrooge's nightdress and hold her at the window, forcing her to look through, "This is forceful collided home of your overwork, underpaid employees; Naruto Cratchit and Hinata Belle."
Inside the house, the reason the houses are forceful collided, is because the wall between the houses, collapsed. Still, both families are willing to share.
Naruto Cratchit's mother; Kushina Cratchit, is working on the strove with Hinata Belle's mother; Hitomi Belle assisting. Hinata Belle's father; Hiashi Belle, sister; Hanabi Belle and cousin; Neji Belle, are setting up the table. While Naruto Cratchit and Hinata Bell decorating their place with Naruto Cratchit steals a kiss under the mistletoe.
Nami Scrooge is watching, "Not much for a meal with many people."
"It was ALL Naruto Cratchit and Hinata Belle could afford with 23 shinning a week." Shrek said.
"Then, why didn't their parents get a job?" Nami Scrooge asked.
"They did." Shrek said, "Every time. They found a job, work there for as long as they can, and then suddenly, that work place was close down by none other than Nami SCROOGE! That happens every time. SO, Until they find a next job without you ruining, they have to relay on Naruto Cratchit and Hinata Belle's payment."
Back inside, Hanabi Belle stares at the food, "These look delicious."
Hanabi Belle reach her hand slowly, towards the food, only to get a slap on the hand, by Hinata Belle, "Hanabi, we need to wait to Mr Cratchit and little Naruko come home."
"Here we are!" Naruto Cratchit's father; Minato Cratchit, said as he with Naruko Cratchit on his shoulder, enter, "Sorry we were late. We were taking a detour through the park."
"There were so many children run around, big brother." Naruko Cratchit said as Naruto Cratchit got hold on his sister and carry her a bit.
"Well, one day, you can run all you want." Naruto Cratchit said with a pain smile.
"I would like that." Naruko Cratchit said.
Nami Scrooge watching this, "Shrek, is that child...?"
"I see an empty seat by the chimney corner. And the crutch without an owner, carefully preserved." Shrek said.
Soon, the Cratchit and Belle family were enjoying their dinner.
"That sure was the best goose, Mum." Naruto Cratchit said.
"Thanks sweetie." Kushina Cratchit said, "I'm hoping one day, you young ones will get to taste a turkey."
"One day." Minato Cratchit said.
"A toast," Naruto Cratchit started as he rise his cup, "To Miss Nami Scrooge."
Hinata Belle and Naruko Belle rise their cups while others doesn't.
"Naruto Cratchit, what are you doing?! Ruining Christmas?!" Kushina Cratchit asked.
"Well, it was her money that pay for these food." Naruto Cratchit said.
"No. It's yours and Hinata's money that pay for these." Kushina Cratchit said.
"Well, Miss Scrooge pay us the money." Hinata Belle said.
"Because you both earned it." Neji Belle said, "Especially you, Hinata who forces to scrubs the floors with very cold water and no soaps cause that greedy witch didn't want to spend lot of money of hers. Believe me, you and Naruto Cratchit earned it."
"Well, it was tough times." Hinata Belle said.
"For us and anyone else, it is." Hiashi Belle said, "but not for Nami Scrooge."
"Nonetheless, she is the Founder of our feast and we should drink to her health." Naruto Cratchit said.
"Founder of our feast?!" Kushina Cratchit asked, "Are you out of your mind?! If I have that rotten witch here, I'll give her to feast upon and I hope, she has a good appetite for it!"
"Mum, it's Christmas Day." Naruto Cratchit said.
"And it should be Christmas Day!" Kushina Cratchit said, "On which one drinks the health of such acold-hearted, selfish, and greedy lady as Nami Scrooge! And you and Hinata Belle knew that! No one knows that witch better than you two."
"I would drink to Miss Scrooge's health." Naruko Cratchit said cheerfully.
Kushina Cratchit look at her only daughter, only to back a bit by Naruko Cratchit's very irresistible cute face... "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! I wish you stop using that on me."
Hinata Belle turn toward her family, "I know this is sudden, but I think Naruto is doing the right thing. Cause, if we don't drink for anyone like Miss Scrooge, then we're no better than she is."
"...Very well." Hiashi Belle said.
With that, everyone lift up their cups.
"To Nami Scrooge, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! They'll be very merry and very happy, I have no doubt!" Kushina Cratchit said
"God bless us." Minato Cratchit said.
"God bless us." Others said.
"And god bless us, everyone." Naruko Cratchit said, cheerily.
Outside, Nami Scrooge is watching this while eyeing the sweet girl, "Tell me. Would she..."
"If the shadows remain unchange, the girl will die." Shrek said.
"Die?!" Nami Scrooge asked, "Oh, please no... She's only a little girl..."
"So?" Shrek started, "If she's going to die, then let her die."
Hearing her own voice, Nami Scrooge turn to see Shrek changing till he's an Ogre version of Nami Scrooge.
"It's just means I'll get MORE MONEY!" Shrek/Ogre Nami, said.
Nami Scrooge stare at herself in fear, and what (s)he just said, the same words she used on Fred and Barney. Ogre Nami then change back to Shrek self before a big wind blowing around. When the wind die down, Nami Scrooge realize she and the spirit are on some kind of sailing ship, the ship she knows so well.
"The Thousand Sunny?!" Nami Scrooge asked before see Luffy and everyone; Pirates and Navies alike, "There's Luffy, his crew, his guests I guess, and..." She stopped when she see couple of people she didn't think will see again, "B-B-B-Bell-Mere...? Nojiko...? What are they doing here?!"
"OK, guys!" Luffy started, "We done the song. We opened the presents. What should we do next?"
"Game, Luffy!" Chopper said.
"Yeah!" Blackbeard agreed, "We must have a game on Christmas."
"People play games on Christmas?" Nami Scrooge asked.
"Ask my over 1800 brothers that came before me." Shrek said, shocking Nami Scrooge.
"OK, what should we play?" Nico Robin asked
"How about Yes and No game?" Tashigi asked.
They agree with the Navy lady's suggestion.
"Great Idea, Tashigi." Luffy said, "And Let's Nojiko go first! She always pick the best ones."
"Well..." Nojiko started, "I actually had a good one. Guess."
"Is it... Vegetable?" Koby asked.
"No." Nojiko said.
"Mineral?" Vivi asked.
"Nope." Nojiko said.
"Animal then?" Bonny asked.
"What else?" Nojiko asked.
"What else, indeed." Luffy said.
"Is it from the farm?" Marco asked.
"Use to." Nojiko answered.
"In the city?" Kuma asked.
"Every day and night." Nojiko said.
"Does it pull hansom cab?" Smoker asked
"Never in its life time." Nojiko said.
"How about a dog?" Garp asked.
Nojiko look surprise..."No."
"Cat?" Nami Scrooge asked.
"A cat?" Nico Robin asked.
"I said it first!" Nami Scrooge said.
But of course, no one see or hear lady Scrooge as Nojiko answers, "no."
"Is it unwanted creature?" Brook asked.
"By many. Including me." Nojiko said.
"A Snake?" Hancock asked.
"No." Nojiko said.
"Cockroach?" Whitebeard asked.
"No." Nojiko said.
"A mouse?" Jinbe asked.
"Nope." Nojiko said.
"A rat?" Tashigi asked.
"...Very close but no." Nojiko said.
Hearing that, Blackbeard jump up, "Oh, oh, oh! I know! I know! It's Nami Scrooge!"
"Yes!" Nojiko said.
Everyone laughs while Nami Scrooge seems hurt about what her own sister thinks of her. Then again, Nami Scrooge can't blame Nojiko.
"By the way, Punk?" Whitebeard asked to Luffy before took a big slip of his drink, "Where did you and few of your crew disappeared yesterday?"
"We were in the counting house, asking Nami Scrooge to join our crew." Luffy said.
"Again, Luffy?" Garp asked his grandson, "Luffy, when will you ever learn, Nami Scrooge will never join your crew or anyone's crew for that matter."
"Well, partly, she has a good navigating skills. Partly, she had a dream to draw the map of the world. But mainly, I wanting to help her, Bell-Mere and Nojiko to makes amends." Luffy said.
Nami Scrooge was a bit surprise.
"I appreciate what you trying to do, Luffy." Bell-Mere said as she looks at her picture frame of herself and her girls when they were young, "But after waiting so long, I think it's time for me to move on." She place the picture away.
Whitebeard lean forward to Bell-Mere, "is that what your heart tells you, Punk?"
"...No." Bell-Mere said, "Not really."
"Then don't give up on her." Whitebeard said a he pick and hand the picture frame back to Bell-Mere, "True caring parents never gives up on their children, no matter what."
Bell-Mere stares at huge pirate before make a grateful smile, "Thanks Whitebeard. You too, Luffy. For offered us to be part of your crew, for treating us like family. Everything."
"What can I say?" Luffy asked, "Helping people is the best I can do, even as a pirate."
Nami Scrooge with much in her mind, starts wondering away, 'Luffy was...trying to help me...to make amends with Nojiko and Bell-Mere? Even after how I treated him and his crew? Was I...Was I wrong? All this time?' She thought before realizes she's at familiar place...
"Yes, Miss Scrooge." Nami Scrooge turn to see Shrek, "I brought you home."
"You're leaving?" Nami Scrooge asked.
"My time around here is very short." Shrek said, "Know this, Scrooge. Life only comes one way. Enjoy your life while it last. Cause one day, you're not there ANYMORE!"
