Before I begin this chapter, I was originally going to have Sora and Kairi travel to Shantae's world next, but then this idea popped in my head, so I thought I'd go along with it, and we could meet Little Mac, the Battletoads, Earthworm Jim, the Double Dragons, and Boogerman in search for the Keyhole in Traverse Town. And another unexpected cameo. Anyway, I plan to do Shantae's world after they seal the Keyhole in Traverse Town, and a boxing match between Little Mac and King Hippo before that. Anyway, hope you enjoy.
PS to those who are unfamiliar to that of Boogerman, I suggest you do some research on it. Just to let you know.
After defeating Dr. Cortex on the N. Sanity Islands, the Gummi Ship was moving on its own.
"Hey, what's up with the controls?" Sora asked.
"Is the ship moving on its own?" Kairi asked.
"Well, I'm not controlling it, so I have no idea what's going on," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
The Gummi Ship warped itself right back to Traverse Town.
"Hey, we're back in Traverse Town," Sora said.
"I wonder why," Kairi said.
"We'll have to land to find out," Sora said.
The Gummi Ship makes a landing and entered through the gates. There, they spotted Jade standing next to a mail box.
"Sora, Kairi, glad to see you," Jade said.
"Hey, Jade," Sora greeted back.
"Were you expecting us?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah. Setro, Ariel, and Brian sent me to wait for you. Setro said there's something important that you two should know," Jade said.
"Where are they?" Kairi asked.
"Setro and Ariel should be in the secret waterway," Jade said.
"Where's that?" Sora asked.
"It's in the alleyway. Just head over to that shop over there and you should see a hole in a wooden fence. And you should reach it," Jade instructed.
"Thanks," Kairi said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel went off to find the alleyway like Jade pointed out.
They passed by the shop and found the hole in the wooden fence. They stepped through and went on through. They saw what looks like a small river.
"That must be where Setro and Ariel are," Sora said.
"You mean, we're going down there?" Kairi asked.
"Well, we have to since there's water," Sora said. He turned to Pikachu. "Okay, Pikachu. How about you use Iron Tail on the bars?" Pikachu nodded and swings his tail, knocking the bars down. With that done, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel entered on through and they saw Setro and Ariel.
"Sora, Kairi. We're glad to see you," Ariel said.
"So Brian was successful after all," Setro said.
"Brian brought us here?" Sora asked.
"Yes. Because I asked him to. How are things going?" Setro asked. Sora and Kairi told Setro about everything that's happened during their journey through the different worlds they've been to, going up to the N. Sanity Islands. "So you've found the Keyholes to those worlds and locked them up?"
"Yeah. We sealed them up to keep them safe from the Heartless," Sora said.
"Good," Setro said.
"But that doesn't answer why you brought us here," Kairi said.
"You're right, Kairi, it doesn't. The reason I called you here is that I want you to find the Keyhole to this world and lock it up," Setro said.
"Why?" Kairi asked.
"Because some suspicious characters were sighted in town very recently. And I have a very bad feeling that Ganondorf is behind this," Setro said.
"Then it's a good thing you brought us here," Sora said.
"We'll keep our eyes open for them," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I know you will. Just be careful," Setro said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel left the waterway, unaware of an unknown being watching them.
As they stepped out, they began their search for the Keyhole in Traverse Town. As they were looking, they see a young man with a medium-build, black hair and blue eyes. He wore a black tank top, black and white shoes, green shorts, and green boxing gloves. He was doing some jabs in the air.
With him is an overweight African-American man wearing a red sweater, blue pants, and white shoes. He has a mustache and short black hair. He appeared to be his coach.
"Come on, Mac, baby! You've got this!" The coach said, holding out two pads on his hands. The young man began punching the pads on the coach's hands. "Great workout, Mac. You're ready for this."
"Yeah, that guy won't know what hit him," Mac said.
"Except the knuckle sandwiches you'll be serving him," the coach said. Just then, Heartless appeared all around. They're another variant of Powerwilds, but they're wearing red tank tops and black shorts. They all wore red boxing gloves. The Heartless emblem is engraved on the tank tops. These shall be known as Boxerwilds. "What the?!"
"Heartless!" Sora and Kairi exclaimed, rushing towards them. They summoned their Keyblades.
"What are you kids think you're doing?" The coach asked.
"We got this," Sora said.
"Get somewhere safe!" Kairi said.
"I'm taking these guys, too!" Mac said.
"Mac, those monsters aren't like any boxers! They'll rip you apart!" The coach warned.
"You were the one who told me to be ready for anything, didn't you?" Mac asked.
"Not what I had in mind, but even I know you're right. Knock these chumps out!" The coach said.
With that said, Mac joined in the fight with Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel against the Heartless. Sora and Kairi slashed through the Boxerwilds when Pikachu and Angel gave them a hit with Quick Attack. Little Mac gave them some punches and uppercuts. Kairi casts a balloon spell, hitting the Boxerwilds as Sora dashed at them with his Keyblade, slashing them. Pikachu unleashed a Thunderbolt, shocking them as Angel fired Swift at them. The fight went on until Mac gave the last Boxwerwild a sock in the face, knocking it to the ground. It then fades away into darkness with a heart float up and disappear.
"Hey, you two aren't that bad," Mac said.
"Well, you were a great fighter, too," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"You two look like you could do well in fencing. Not that I know any fencing instructors," the coach said.
"Anyway, I'm Mac. But when I'm in the ring, they know me as Little Mac. And this guy here is my coach, Doc Louis," Mac introduced.
"How's it going?" Doc Louis asked.
"I'm Sora and this is Pikachu," Sora introduced himself and his partner.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"My name's Kairi, and this is Angel," Kairi introduced herself and her partner.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"You should probably be careful of Heartless out here, because you'll never know when one will show up," Kairi said.
"Well, if you can handle yourselves against those things, I can, too. Doc Louis is showing me the the ropes," Mac said.
"Don't get cocky, Mac. Brian did warn us to keep our eyes opened. And I was worried that we'd had to cancel the fight tonight," Doc said.
"The fight? What fight?" Sora asked.
"Just the big boxing match going on tonight. If you kids are interested, you should check it out. And when you do, make sure you root for Mac here," Doc Louis said.
With that said, Mac and Doc Louis took their leave and headed in the opposite direction.
"A boxing match, huh? That sounds like loads of fun," Sora said.
"Yeah, but I don't think we have time for that. We got to find that Keyhole and seal it," Kairi reminded her boyfriend.
"Pikachu," Pikachu agreed.
"Eevee," Angel added.
"You're right. We should keep looking," Sora said. He then stroked his chin. "But where do we even start looking?"
"Maybe we should talk to Brian. He might give us a clue," Kairi suggested.
"Not a bad idea. Maybe Jade could have a clue on where he is," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel went off to find Jade to ask where Brian could be. When they were stepping out of the alleyway, they ran into Jade.
"Sora, Kairi, I was looking for you," Jade said.
"Huh? So were we," Sora said.
"Brian wanted me to bring you to the accessory shop," Jade said.
"The accessory shop?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. He said he has something for you," Jade said.
"Well, our search didn't take nearly as long," Kairi said.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel followed Jade to the accessory shop and they saw Brian waiting for them. With him is a tall, fair-skinned, brown-haired man. His face is very simplistic in design: his eyes are black dots; his ears are round with no visible anatomy; and his nose is a simple bump, with its bridge being a single line. His most defining feature is his top hat, which is tall and brown with a red lint, and covers his thin eyebrows. He wears a brown coat with its collar upturned over a dark orange shirt, brown pants, and a pair of dark green shoes with white soles.
With the man is a pre-teen boy, wearing a blue-grey cardigan and flat cap, contrasting light brown hair, with peach skin, rosy cheeks and a wisp of hair hanging between his black eyes. He wore a pair of viridian shorts with brown falling suspenders, white socks, brown Mary Jane shoes and a blue-gray flat cap.
"Well, you two took your sweet time. Good thing I've sent Jade to find you," Brian said.
"Ah, so those are the two," the man said.
"Brian, Setro filled us in about the Keyhole," Sora said.
"I figured you would," Brian said.
"Um, but who are they?" Kairi asked, noticing the two individuals in the shop.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Hershel Layton. A pleasure to make your acquaintance," Layton introduced himself.
"My name is Luke Triton," the boy introduced himself.
"I regret that we hadn't met each other during your previous visit, but there are some things that beyond the control of a gentleman's," Layton said.
"Not sure what you meant by that, but I'll take your word for it," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Anyway, we were just about to go looking for you when we saw Jade," Sora said.
"I had to make sure Jade got to ya before they did," Brian said.
"Before who did?" Kairi asked.
"I dunno," Brian said.
"Brian suspects someone working for Ganondorf is somewhere in Traverse Town a he plans to get in the way," Luke said.
"And it's good fortune that Jade got to you before our enemies could," Layton said.
"Thanks for the heads-up," Kairi said.
"We'll keep our eyes peeled for any shady characters out there," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel stepped out of the accessory shop, unaware of a small camera. It follows the couple into the second district.
In a different location, they're being watched by a wickedly beautiful woman. She wore cape, skimpy black leotard and corset, opera gloves, and thigh high boots. She has jet black hair, and a voluptuous body.
"So those are the Keyblade wielders Ganondorf told us about? They're just a couple of children!" The woman said.
"Like you're one to be disappointed," a new voice spoke. It belonged to an odd individual who wore a purple jumpsuit with the letter M on the chest. He has a dark yellow cape, gloves, and shoes that seem to not fit him at the end. "I was actually expecting a challenge."
"Same with me and the Dark Queen, Booger Meister," another new voice said. It belonged to a mutated human-sized crow with a pot belly. He has four fingers, opposable thumbs, and large, three-toed feet. He wore a yellow jumpsuit with a utility belt, topped by the clear glass bubble of a space suit helmet. "Ganondorf shouldn't have wasted our time with these."
"Don't underestimate them," Loki said, walking in. "Those two managed to beat Mother Brain back in Brinstar. The same can be said for Dracula in his castle, Andross on Venom, and Clockwerk when he took a nose-dive in hot lava. Those two are a force to be reckoned with."
"If you ask me, they sound pretty weak if they lost to those kids," Booger Meister said.
"No one asked you, Booger Meister," Loki stated. "Just remember why you're even here in the first place. You gotta keep them from finding the Keyhole to Traverse Town like they did with the others before them." Loki took his leave as the Dark Queen just scoffed.
"He thinks he can tell me what to do? How laughable," the Dark Queen said.
"We could just send in the Heartless to deal with them," Psy-Crow suggested.
"Or I could just have our guys deal with them," another voice said. It belonged to a vicious, muscular fighter in a dark blue armor with spiked shoulder pads and a dark blue skull-like mask.
"Shadow Boss. I was wondering where you were lurking, but I share your idea," the Dark Queen said.
Back with Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, they hear the sound of rap music not too far from them, and they saw two aliens. One of the aliens is red and has three legs, and wore a large gold medallion and a backwards baseball cap. The other alien possesses a stout build, with a solid and robust physique, and is orange wearing high-tops and oversized sunglasses.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" The red alien said. He spotted the couple looking at them. "Hey, Earl, you see what I see?" The two aliens approached the couple, making them feel uncomfortable.
"Something we can help you with?" Sora asked.
"You seeing what I'm seeing, Earl?" The red alien asked.
"Yeah, but what, ToeJam?" Earl asked.
"What the hell do you mean 'what'? I'm talking about the crazy doo this kid has," ToeJam said.
"My hair?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, little bro! That's a bitchin' hairstyle you got! What's your name?" ToeJam asked.
"Sora," Sora said.
"Sora? Nah, man, that's gotta go. I was thinking of Strike Master S!" ToeJam said. "Ye-Ah!"
"Strike Master S?" Sora and Kairi asked in unison.
"The name's ToeJam and this is my boy Big E," ToeJam introduced.
"What up?" Earl greeted.
"Well, since we're here, we should ask if you two have seen any suspicious-looking guys around here. Like some bad guys wearing black with the letter R on their clothes?" Sora asked.
"Nah, we ain't seen anyone like that, man," Earl said.
"Just those yellow-eyed freaks that's been chasing everyone off," ToeJam said.
"The Heartless," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
Just then, a bunch of rats and pigs came and attacked. Among them is a morbidly obese brown rat with unkempt black hair. He wore spiked black leather briefs and spiked black leather shoulder bands, and a spiked ball at the end of his tail.
"What the?!" ToeJam exclaimed.
"Who are you?!" Sora exclaimed.
"The name's Big Blag! The Dark Queen has ordered me to stop you from finding the Keyhole!" Big Blag snarled.
"Dark Queen?" Sora asked.
"It's about time she'd make her move," a voice said.
They looked around and out came three humanoid toads. One of the toads is green wearing black gauntlets, black studded kneepads and a black utility belt with a toad insignia on the buckle. The second toad is a lighter shade of green wearing sunglasses, red ninja ribbons and spiked black kneepads. The third toad is much larger than the other two. He is brown and wore spiked black kneepads and spiked black arm braces.
"Picking on a couple of kids isn't a smart move," the second toad said.
"So we're gonna have a problem," the third toad said.
"Earl! It's them!" ToeJam said.
"The Battletoads!" Earl said.
"Thought you were rid of us, didn't you, rat-breath?" The first toad asked.
"Don't know who you guys are, but we appreciate the help," Sora said. He and Kairi summoned their Keyblades as ToeJam and Earl got to a safer spot and ToeJam took out his camera.
They soon engaged the rats and pigs as Sora threw his Keyblade, striking a handful of them. Kairi casts a blizzard spell, freezing some of them. The toads had their hands and feet take the shape of hammers and boots, smacking them. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt, shocking them as Angel fired Swift, hitting them. Angel then landed a Headbutt, hitting the pigs as Kairi struck one of the rats and Sora casts a fire spell, burning them. Pikachu smacked the pigs with Iron Tail as Sora smacked a pig with his Keyblade. Kairi casts a fire spell on the rats and pigs as the toads gave them a punch by enlarging their fists. The fight went on as the rats and pigs were being overwhelmed. They decided to retreat. Big Blag wasn't having any of it.
"Argh! You wussies are freaking pathetic! I'll handle them myself!" Big Blag said. He rolls right at them, but the fist toad gave the large mutant rat a punch with his fist as the other two toads gave him a kick by turning them into boots and cleats. Sora and Kairi casts a double stone spell, hitting him. Sora then came at him by hitting Big Blag with his Keyblade as Kairi casts a water spell, hitting him. Pikachu and Angel gave him a double Quick Attack followed by Iron Tail. "Now I'm angry! Time to stomp you down to size!" Big Blag then became bigger and started to jump, hoping to crush them, but the Battletoads dodged as Sora rolled and Kairi cartwheels. Pikachu fired Electro Ball, hitting him as Angel landed a Headbutt in the gut. He wheezed. "You little punks are dead meat!" He tried to crush them all as Sora came at Big Blag and slashed his belly, making a hole. "Oh shi-" He deflates and goes flying around and around until he ran out of air and lands on the ground.
"Wanna do the honors, fearless leader?" The second toad asked.
"Gladly," the first toad said, giving Big Blag a kick, sending him flying. "He's going! Going! Going!" He flew so high up in the air, a star twinkled in the distance. "Gone!"
"That's gotta be worth six points!" The third toad said.
The Battletoads hi-five each other. They turned to the couple when they dismissed their Keyblades.
"Hey, you guys weren't half bad out there," the first toad said.
"We were thinking the same about you," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Again, thanks for the help. Anyway, my name's Sora, and this is Pikachu," Sora introduced.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"And I'm Kairi, and this is Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"The name's Zitz. The toad with the shades is Rash, and that's Pimple," Zitz introduced himself and his team.
"We're the Battletoads," the Battletoads said.
"Sounds like a superhero team," Kairi said.
"Were you looking for that Keuhole?" Zitz asked.
"Yeah, but how do you know about that?" Sora asked.
"We were told by Setro that two kids matching your descrip were looking for it to lock it up," Rash said.
"We were sent here by Princess Angelica to make sure that you find it before the Dark Queen does," Pimple said.
"I have a feeling that this Dark Queen joined up with Ganondorf just like some of the other villains we've met," Kairi said.
"I think you're right, Kairi. That gives us a reason to find it fast," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Well, how would you guys like to join us for a bit? I think we could stand a much better chance in looking for it," Sora said.
"That's a good idea, Sora," Zitz agreed. "There's no telling when the Dark Queen's forces will strike again."
"And those Heartless would come out of hiding, too," Pimple said.
A little while later, a red-orange anthropomorphic squirrel stepped out of the hotel. He has yellowish-tan patches of fur on his underbelly and his lower muzzle. He wore blue long-sleeved zipped-up hoodie, white gloves and blue and yellow sneakers. As he was breathing through his nose, he smelled something in the air.
"Hey, all of a sudden, it smells like bacon out here," the squirrel said.
And that would be Conker the Squirrel. Anyway, we'll end it here for right now, so tune in next time when we join our friends when they find Traverse Town's Keyhole and seal it. Stay tuned if you want more excitement.
