"Is something the matter?"
Sagat had spoken the moment H.C. entered the room, instantly recognising her worried expression. While this initially surprised her, the fact that there was someone who could tell she wasn't okay and would immediately try to help was actually quite reassuring. It made this situation a bit less terrifying for her.
"Well, I asked the Head of Finance about the punching bag... He said it's too expensive to upgrade it right now, but, I bumped into one of the Dolls on the way out... And the way he talked about them made it seem like he wanted me to be one. He mentioned the extra money it'll cost to take care of me, and how affordable the Dolls are."
She shivered a little bit as she spoke, and once she was done talking, Sagat nodded his head. "I see," he replied, before crouching down on her level. "Do not worry. I'll do what I can to get you out of here."
"Thanks... Wait, get me out of here? Can't you just convince them not to do anything to me?"
Sagat thought to himself for a moment. "Maybe I could. Even if I did, though... This place isn't right for you. Bison leads a cruel army that seeks world domination. A homeless child should have nothing to do with that. What you need is a place where you can be seen as a person, on the same level as everyone else... Not a place where you're only seen as a tool. If you stay here, it'll only be a matter of time until something happens that I cannot prevent."
H.C. was briefly silent, before a question popped into her head.
"Y'know... For such an evil guy, with such a mean bunch of people working for him... How'd he end up hiring you? Nobody aside from you has ever really cared about me that much, both inside and outside of here. And sure, you might be a little obsessed with revenge, but you're still the nicest guy I ever met."
This time, it was Sagat who was silent, although he paused for much longer than H.C. did. Eventually, she got a bit worried she had said something she shouldn't have, and made her way towards the door.
"I, um, I think I'm gonna head back out. Sorry if I upset you..."
He stood back up again, before finally responding.
"Again, don't worry. You haven't said or done anything wrong. If you still want to head out, there should be another shipment of parts coming in today. You can help with that if you haven't got anything else to do. Might put you on better terms with the others while I try to create a way out for you."
H.C. nodded her head. "Got it... And thank you, Sagat," she replied, before exiting the room. About ten seconds after she left, Sagat made his way out as well, heading in a different direction.
