Chapter 16
Elizabeth hears talking and recognizes her sons' voices. " We have to get dressed and take a quick shower. Our sons are here." She whispers. " Ok, but we should at least let them know we are ok before we do. So how about you start the shower and I will peek my head out and tell them we will see them soon." Jason whispers. " O,k I love you see you in the shower. Don't take too long." She says as she runs and starts the shower. He throws on his jeans and shirt. He opens the door slightly. " Oh hey guys give us like 3minutesns and we will meet you downstairs in the living room. Nice to see you." Jason says as he closes the door. " Umm, why is Dad chipper?" Danny asks. "How about we take his advice and I will explain what I know."
" Oh, more Pizza it is so much better in Italy. We should totally get a house here so we can visit whenever we want or maybe import pizza from Italy either way I will be happy." Elizabeth says as she sits on Jason's lap and they eat some more pizza. " Whatever you want. I love you." Jason says. " I love you always." She says happily and her kids and Danny are dumbfounded. " Start talking dud," Aiden says. " Well Mom made some brownies with mint and it turns out it was weed they ate the whole pan and it is super strong so they will be high for two more hours they got married yesterday and yes we checked it is legal," Jake says. " Holy shit. I need a drink. Mom and Jason. I mean I have not seen them be all lovey-dovey since I was like 4." Cam says. " Yeah, she is definitely high because you just cussed and she said nothing," Aiden says. " I think we should let their high wear off because seeing them act like a couple is weird for me," Danny says. They all leave and secretly they are happy for their parents because they deserve happiness.
Five hours later
They got sleepy so they took a nap and once they woke up everything finally hit them. " Oh my gosh we got high, our sons are here and they saw it. Oh my gosh, we got married. What were we thinking?" She says as she paces. " Are you regretting marrying me?" Jason asks. "The problem is that you don't remember me or our history. Once you do you may feel differently. It has been a long two years. First, you come back from the dead, I end a long-term relationship, then my first ex-husband comes into town hoping to win me back. Aiden comes back wanting the same thing, I get accused of killing patients including your ex-wife and the other mother of your son, one ex has an affair with your nephew's wife, the other two exes battle on who can play the annoying hero, then Jake and I are kidnapped. Then you two disappeared without memories and now I am married to my ex-fiancee who does not remember me. At that time we still have people after us and now we are probably compromised because we are legally married." She says.
" Just take a breath. Francis already has plans to move us tonight to avoid being detected and this place is like a fortress. We could only escape because I found the secret door so we are fine for now. As far as everything else I can tell there is more to it so tell me the truth." He says. " Jason, we have done a lot of damage to each other and one of my biggest insecurities is that you never chose me or stayed. I am afraid that when you remember you are going to run and push me away again. I have loved my share of men in life but I have always loved you the most and the longest. I know that Lucky thinks he loves me and I will be honest I had a moment of weakness but it felt wrong and that is because I can never rely on him and I stopped being in love with him the moment you walked into the bar and saved me." She says. " I don't take commitment lightly and my heart knows this is right and I won't be a coward like he was. I meant my vows." He says.
Francis storms in and says " We have company time to go." He hands Jason two guns and they make their way to the children who are already at the secret door. As they make their way a masked gunman enters and Jason pushes Aiden out of the way and shoots the man. " Run Aiden." He says. Two more enter and Jason shoots them before one gets him on the left side. He enters the door and closes it. Elizabeth notices the blood and she helps him. " We have to keep moving. I will be fine." He says. He holds his side as he walks and can make it to the boat. They take off and Elizabeth takes him to a room and says " It went straight through. I am going to get a med kit stitch it and give you some meds. No arguing."
" Don't worry your Dad will be fine. He is just resting right now and there is not a lot of bleeding. I know you were scared but you know your dad is stubborn and tough. He just came back to you both." Elizabeth says to Jake and Danny. " Thank you for helping him. It means a lot to me." Danny says. " I have loved your father for a long time and we have many years to annoy each other. I care about you too. I would never try to replace Sam but I am here if you need me." She says. He hugs her and walks away. " He saved my life, Mom. How do I thank him for that?" Aiden says. " He is just thankful you are ok. He does care about you. Biology does not matter to him." Elizabeth says. " He saved me and he forgave me when I was a major douche and I could tell he meant I,." Cam says.
Elizabeth still feels bad about that because it caused a rift in her boys but it caused another rift because of her and Jason. She needs to figure out why she does that. Every single time he has been right about men who meant her harm. She loved Franco and she understood Jason's hatred of him but she poked at him and rubbed it in his face that he was only a part-time father. How does he keep forgiving her? She will never understand. She reaches into her inner Lizzie Webber and she only does that to him. All this time he always thought he was not good enough for her and that he was this monster but maybe it is her that doesn't deserve him.
