Emily had a hold of Libby's hand as finally the young girl slept, even though she too was tired Emily had been unable to sleep. The sight of a familiar figure at the door was a welcome sight as Emily gestured for JJ to enter.

"Hey I thought that you could do with this."

JJ smiled as she passed Emily a coffee and sat down on the chair next to Emily.

"Thanks Jen."

"How is she?"

Emily sighed as she looked and checked, but Libby was still sleeping.

"Her wrist is broken, there are also signs that she has been abused Jen."

"Oh Emily!"

JJ reached and put her arm around Emily who turned and looked at her friend.

"What on earth had my sister got herself involved in Jen?"

JJ went to speak but then she saw Libby start to stir and watched as Emily quickly turned her attention to her niece.

"Libby, it's ok, you're safe with me."

Libby opened her eyes and looked at Emily and squeezed Emily's hands.

"That's good sweetheart, feeling a bit better?"

Libby nodded her head and looked at JJ who smiled softly at her.

"Jen, we're going to be getting out of here this morning, Libby and I are going to come into the office, we can catch up then?"

"Of course Em, see you both soon."

JJ smiled as she quickly hugged Emily and smiled once again at Libby before she quietly left the room.

Just under two hours later Emily had a hold of Libby's left hand, the young girl still hadn't said more than a couple of words to Emily, and Emily knew that she had to ask JJ to talk to Libby and find out what had gone on. She had spent ten minutes explaining her job and her friends to Libby and that the BAU was a safe place, with Libby gently nodding her head in agreement. Quickly and purposefully Emily walked up to her office and sat Libby on the couch.

"I am going to go and speak to my friends Libs, remember what I said earlier, you are safe here, but if you need me I am just going to be in the room there ok?"

Emily pointed at the round table room and watched as Libby nodded her head.

"Ok sweetheart, I promise I won't be long."

Emily gave a soft smile and kissed Libby on the top of her head before she quickly went and joined the others in the room, smiling in appreciation at the sight of Tara and Dave in a police room in New York.

"Thank you so much everyone, for dropping everything last night. Garcia did you get the report from the hospital?"

Garcia nodded her head and looked sympathetically at Emily as Emily took a deep breath.

"So a bit of background, my sister and I have never been close, we are definite opposites. The last time I saw her, Neil and Libby was at my mother's funeral. Charlotte married into money, had a very different lifestyle to me, and yeah she was closer to my mother than me."

"But you and Libby are close, I found her messages Emily."

Garcia looked at Emily who smiled and nodded.

"Yes, even though Charlotte and I weren't close, Libby and I wrote and emailed each other, and the occasional phone call."

"So it was no surprise that she made her way to yours then Emily."

Tara looked and smiled at Emily who nodded in response.

"So what did you guys find out in New York?"

"Looks like they let someone in, but the security footage has been wiped, as has footage from the surrounding area. They were both killed by shots to the chest and then the head, we are just waiting for crime scene to finish up."

Emily closed her eyes as she felt JJ's hand reach and gently stroke her hand.

"So we don't know if Libby was there or not, or who hurt her?"

Garcia brought up a photo of Libby from a security camera.

"I did find footage of Libby getting out of a cab and then catching a train to D.C, she then got another cab to yours Emily, she got to your house around 5pm."

Emily nodded her head before she looked at JJ.

"Can you speak to Libby for me please? I need to stay out of this as much as possible but..."

"Of course Emily."

"Emily the fact that Libby turned up at your place with her injuries, this is our case."

"Dave..."

"No Emily, this is my call as Unit Chief. It's our case, I've already cleared it with NYPD. Tyler, Luke can you two head up here please, Tara is coming back to help JJ with the interview."

Emily opened her mouth to protest but in her head she knew that Dave was right, instead she nodded in response.

"Ok, thank you all. I'll be in my office with Libby."

Emily quietly walked out of the room, Tara waited for a moment before she spoke.

"I'm now leaving, I'll see you in a bit JJ."

Emily walked back into her office, closing the door as she smiled at Libby, she knew that the hustle and bustle of the bullpen was making Libby anxious and she didn't want her to hear anything that might upset her more than she already was.

"Everything ok Libby?"

Emily spoke softly as she sat down next to Libby who turned to look at Emily.

"Aunt Emily?"

"Yes sweetheart."

"My parents, they're dead aren't they? They killed them didn't they?"

Libby spoke quietly as she looked directly into Emily's eyes, their dark pupils meeting each other, Emily slowly nodded her head.

"I'm so sorry Libby."

Libby shrugged her shoulders and stared at the floor.

"My friends would like to ask you some questions in a bit, would that be ok with you?"

"I guess so."

Emily reached softly and brought her arm around Libby, the young girl stayed staring at the floor but at least this time Libby hadn't flinched or moved away from the contact.

JJ knocked softly on the door before she opened it and walked in, smiling at Emily who was sat at her desk before she glanced over at the couch and saw that Libby was curled up with a blanket on top of her, watching cartoons.

"I thought you two could do with something to eat, I'm guessing neither of you have had anything to eat today?"

JJ smiled and raised an eyebrow as she looked at Emily before JJ walked over and placed a muffin and a bottle of juice on the table in front of Libby.

"There you go Libby."

Libby brought her gaze up and JJ could see the sadness in her eyes.

"Thank you."

Libby's voice was quiet and JJ knew not to push anymore as she wandered over and took the seat opposite Emily, placing a coffee and a muffin in front of her.

"Hey."

"Thank you Jen."

"Tara will be here soon, is Libby going to be ok?"

Emily took a breath and looked over at the young girl before she replied quietly.

"Yes, she is starting to open up more, she knows about her parents but I haven't gone into any detail."

JJ reached across and patted Emily's hand sympathetically.

"She obviously is feeling safe with you Emily and that will help. Do you want to be in the interview or would you like it to be just Tara and I?"

"I talked to Libby at the hospital, she is still wary of talking and I think that my presence will only hinder her."

JJ nodded her head and turned and looked at Libby who was slowly picking at the muffin and smiled warmly at the young girl.

"Hey Libby, can I come and watch cartoons with you?"

Libby looked up and saw JJ smiling warmly at her and nodded her head. JJ kept smiling as she wandered over and sat down on the couch, close to Libby but mindful not to encroach too much on the young girl's personal space, but JJ was pleased that it was a small breakthrough.
