"What a fun mission! An amusement park! Ooh I bet they have popcorn! Ooh Ooh!" Kuri bounced around, wanting it to be a date but she was afraid to ask.
"I hope so too!" Rin grinned at her. "It's gonna be a great date!"
"Date?" Kuri whirled, bouncing in excitement. "Reeeeeally?"
"Yes really!" Rin smiled, relieved that she had agreed. "Let's go find that popcorn!
Kuri grabbed his hand, handing him a balloon. "Hee hee! I got you a balloon!"
"Thanks!" Rin said, handing her popcorn.
Kuri giggled. "Um…when the sun sets can we get on the Ferris wheel together?"
Rin broke into a grin. "Sure!"
Suddenly Kuri stiffened. She took off running. She'd sensed a powerful demon.
"Kuri?!" Bewildered, Rin ran after her.
But he wasn't fast enough.
Amaimon lunged and grabbed Rin's sword. Fumbling, Rin tried to grab it back.
Suddenly Kuri was there! "I don't know what the king of earth is doing here, but return that to Rin!" Feathers appeared all around her, aiming at Amaimon.
Amaimon grinned. "Oh this is fun. Big brother didn't tell me there was a little fledging involved!" He spun the sword in his hand.
Rin got in front of Kuri protectively. "She's not involved. Whoever you are!"
Kuri growled in protest. "I'm gonna kill him Rin!" Kuri shot feathers at him
Amaimon extinguished them easily. "Pathetic." He held up the sword. "I wanna see the fledgling cry. What would happen if I pulled out your sword little brother?"
Rin growled, trying to hide his terror at the thought. "Give it back!"
"Hey! Don't do that! Don't! He doesn't like it so STOP!" Kuri shouted at Amaimon, not wanting anything to happen to hurt Rin.
Satisfied with their reactions, knowing this would hurt them, Amaimon smirked and opened the sword. Rin burst into flames, blasting Kuri into the wall.
Rin growled, attacking Amaimon.
Kuri struggled to her feet, seeing Rin rage. She grabbed him from behind. "RIN!"
Rin growled and thrashed in her arms, but the fire didn't hurt. Why not?
"He's still there…" Kuri whispered hopefully, holding him close. "Shh. Rin…Rin." Her face twisted in rage as Amaimon lunged at them again. "You lowlife!" Kuri held out a hand and Amaimon was thrown into a wall. Kuri snapped her fingers and the sword was in her hand, and she closed it before the flames reached her wings. "Rin…Shh…it's ok. I'm here…Rin."
Rin finally went limp, passing out in her arms.
"Oh Rin." Kuri pulled him closer. "It's alright." She purified him a tiny bit, driving the flames from his mind so he could think clearly again.
Rin winced slightly.
"Hey…hey I'm sorry if that hurt. But you can think clearly now ne?" Kuri whispered desperately. "Rin come back Rin please…"
Rin blinked, looking up at her. "Kuri? What..happened?"
Kuri wiped away her tears. "Your ok!" She hugged him. "You just sorta…caught fire…and then you were snarling and biting…and I was scared cuz…cuz you didn't hear my voice anymore… so I held you, and took your sword back, and wasted that dirtbag demon…oh Rin!" Kuri hugged him, crying.
"Did I….did I hurt you?" Rin hugged her back. "Hey! Don't cry!"
"I-I thought you were g-gone…please don't go Rin!" Kuri cried, not saying a word about him being a demon just glad he's back.
"Kuri…" Rin patted her back. "I wasn't gonna disappear on ya."
Kuri hugged him. "Y-You were scary. I was dumb hugging you when you were on fire I guess, but…I just wanted my Rin back…"
Rin's eyes widened in terror. "Did I burn you?!"
"No surprisingly not; that's how I knew you were still in there." Kuri smiled. "Cuz you'd never hurt me, ne Rin?
"No I wouldn't!" Rin replied firmly.
Kuri looked up at him shyly. "So your a demon…"
"I ah…" Rin sighed. No denying it now. "Y-yeah…the son of Satan…"
"That…explains a lot." Kuri laughed, then noticed something behind him. "Whoa! Is that a tail?!" She pounced on it. "It's so cool!" She hugged it.
"Ah!" Rin cried, unable to stop the little cry of pleasure. "Yes! I have a tail!" Rin blushed
"I LOVE IT!" Kuri wrapped herself in his tail. "Triin!"
Rin blushed even more. "K-kuri!"
"S-sorry!" Kuri let his tail go. "I got excited."
Rin grinned. "I-it's okay! I'm glad you like it though!" He was still shocked that she liked his tail. That she didn't hate him for being a demon. She actually seemed to like him more!
"I'd like you no matter what Rin." Kuri grinned, kissing his nose.
Oh, how he wished he was brave enough to kiss her in that moment.
