At this point "Fine, I'll do it myself" is the though process behind most of my fics. I've seen a handful of fan-art with this concept, but no stories. And i think i can only recall reading a few were bun-bun is mentioned in any capacity. which i always found kind of interesting considering how it's a priced possession of Lincoln.
That being said, one of the Live Action episodes and the aforementioned fan art was the inspiration behind this fic. I'm still not fully sure how far i want the affection to go in this fic, so i don't know whether to classify this as a shipping fic. i guess we'll see. i have more than one chapter planned, but I don't really see this lasting longer than a couple.
Anyways, enough with the notes. Let's get on with the story
Lincoln entered his room, a towel draped over his shoulders. his white locks still damp from the shower. He sighed, feeling a bit frustrated. Once again, he'd been unfortunate enough to be the last in line for the bathroom. and the hot water had barely lasted long enough for him to rinse off before turning icy cold. He would've thought Lori no longer being here would've lessened the issue somewhat, but no. He couldn't help but wonder which of his sisters was responsible this time – Lola with her baths that could last up to 4 hours, or Leni, who was known for hogging the bathroom for a variety of reasons that seemed to vary on the facepalm scale.
Shaking his head, Lincoln tossed the towel into his laundry basket and put on his underwear, followed by his orange pants. As he buttoned up his shirt, he couldn't help but let out a yawn. It's been a pretty long day. He had to once again deal with his sisters activities. It was not an uncommon trend in this house. and just like the previous times, it left him incredibly exhausted and he couldn't wait to go to sleep. Turning around, his eyes landed on the inanimate stuffed bunny sitting patiently on his bed.
"Don't worry. I'll be right over, bud!" Lincoln said to the plush with a smile. He did a few stretches, not breaking any eye contact with the plush. as if expecting it to respond back.
No matter how chaotic his day had been, Bun-Bun was always there. That cute little bunny had been a source of comfort for Lincoln since he was a baby. Lincoln seemed unable to sleep without it. And he tried to, though not by choice. Once Lily lost her own doll and Lincoln had let her borrow Bun Bun. Only problem was, Lily liked Bun Bun too much. And she wasn't willing to give him up that easily. And as Lincoln found out the hard way, it was VERY difficult for him to get any sleep without the plush that had been there for him since as long as he can remember. It truly was one of the few comforts he had in the otherwise chaotic house.
"At least I can count on you for a good night's sleep, buddy." Lincoln murmured as he approached the bed. With a contented sigh, Lincoln flopped onto his mattress, sinking into the bed. He reached out and grabbed Bun-Bun, pulling the stuffed bunny close to his chest. A smile crept up on his face. Most kids his age would've made fun of him for it, But Lincoln knew better than to let everyone else's opinions sour his enjoyment over the things he loved.
Yawning, he tugged his sheets up over himself, covering both him and Bun-Bun. Lincoln's eyes grew heavy as he snuggled deeper into his pillow. With one last smile, he reached out and clicked off his lamp, plunging the room into darkness. Lincoln's eyes fully closed and eventually, the day was put behind him as he slowly drifted to sleep.
As the first rays of morning sunlight began to filter through his window, Lincoln stirred, slowly rising from the depths of sleep. He was surprised at how well he slept. Good nights were by no means uncommon, but tonight? that might've been the best sleep he's had in a long time. As he slowly opened his eyes, he became more aware of the softness pressing against his face. he noticed that whatever he had pressed against his body right now, was not Bun-Bun sized. Still feeling groggy, Lincoln assumed he must have shifted during the night and was now hugging his pillow instead of Bun-Bun. It wouldn't be the first time he'd woken up in such a position. However, as he slowly began to gain his bearings, he realized something was off. The texture under his hands was different – softer, warmer, and somehow...less plush-like? It was then that he noticed that whatever he had his face against was purple. Lincoln knew well that none of his pillows were purple. Confused, Lincoln ran his hands over whatever it was he was holding. His fingers sliding down curves that felt soft, but every un-pillow-like. As he squeezed experimentally, a high-pitched, distinctly feminine squeak pierced the morning quiet.
Lincoln's eyes flew open. Yup. definitely not a pillow. It was only now that he realized he could feel a set of arms wrapped around him. Did one of his sisters sneak into his bed? His first thought was one of his younger sisters, but none of them ever held him like this. Due to the purple coloring, his next thought was Luna. But Luna didn't ask to bunk with him...
...Often...
...And the voice was way to high pitched to be Luna. Maybe Leni? She was the most likely to come to his room right behind the twins. But since when did she start wearing purple? there was only one way Lincoln was gonna figure this out. He slowly tilted his head upwards and he found himself staring into a pair of large of eyes. A pair of eyes that didn't belong to any of his sisters. Whoever this was, her cheeks were tinged pink and a shy smile played on her lips.
"Hi, Linky." the girl said softly, her voice sweet and cheery. Lincoln's reaction was instantaneous. With a yelp of surprise and fear, he launched himself backward, falling of the bed and crawling back to put distance between himself and the intruder. His heart pounded in his chest as he pressed himself against the wall.
"Who are you?! What are you doing in my bed?!" Lincoln shouted, his voice cracking with panic. The girl sat up, looking amused by Lincoln's reaction. She stretched and it was then that Lincoln noticed something even more bizarre – a pair of long, floppy bunny ears atop her head, matching her beige-colored hair.
"Oh, Linky." she giggled, her nose twitching in a very bunny-like manner. "Don't you recognize me? I'm Bun-Bun, silly!"
Lincoln's jaw dropped. There's no way. He glanced around frantically, searching for his stuffed bunny, but Bun-Bun was nowhere to be seen. Instead, this girl – this version of Bun-Bun as it were – sat on his bed, wearing a familiar purple polo shirt. He looked over her and then noticed the fluffy tail attached to her back. Lincoln couldn't believe what he was seeing. Was this really Bun-Bun?!
...But as he continued to take in the sight. Another detail came to his attention. This girl looked like Bun-Bun. Down to the ears, the shirt.
...And the fact that she was wearing nothing below the waist. His face flushed crimson upon him finally registering that bit of information.
"W-why aren't you wearing any pants?!" Lincoln sputtered, averting his eyes and trying to keep his voice down. Bun-Bun tilted her head, looking genuinely confused by the question. She glanced down at herself, running her hands over her bare legs.
"Pants? But I've never worn pants before, Linky. You've never given me a pair. neither have your sisters." Bun Bun replied while looking down. Bun-Bun turned around on the bed, presumably to inspect herself further. But this had the awkward side effect of giving Lincoln an unobstructed view of her tail and her...*ahem*...Bun-Buns.
"Gah!" Lincoln yelped, slapping his hands over his eyes. "Bun-Bun, please! You need to put something on!" He pointed blindly towards his closet with one hand, keeping the other firmly pressed against his face. Bun Bun glanced at where Lincoln was pointing and shrugged. She was fine like this, but clearly this wasn't bringing Lincoln any comfort.
And if there was anything Bun-Bun was supposed to excel at, it was bringing comfort to Lincoln Loud.
She skipped to the closet and began digging through his clothes. Lincoln still covered his eyes. But he could hear the rustling After a few moments of what he assumed was Bun-Bun rummaging through his clothes.
"How's this, Linky?"
Lincoln cautiously lowered his hand. To his relief, Bun-Bun had indeed found something to wear below the waist. However, his relief was short-lived when he realized she had only put on a pair of underwear. HIS pair of underwear to be exact. Not only that, but those were his Victory Undies. Lincoln couldn't remember the last time he had put those on. where they always that small?
Lincoln groaned inwardly, He would've preferred her putting on actual pants. But this was better than nothing. And he couldn't judge. He was hardly a stranger to walking around his room in his nothing but his shirt and undies after all. Lincoln ran a hand through his hair, trying to make sense of the situation. How had his stuffed bunny turned into a real, living, breathing girl? Was he still dreaming? was this one of Lisa's experiments?
His thoughts were interrupted by a pair of arms warping around him. In the time all those thoughts were running through his mind, he hadn't noticed Bun Bun closing the distance between him and her. Lincoln blushed at how soft it felt. Surprisingly it felt like hugging a life sized version of his plush bunny. Which...yeah, he supposed was exactly what was going on. He didn't ponder on it for long, as he noticed that she tightened her grip and was now giving him a full on embrace.
"Is everything okay, Linky?" She asked, looking at him with worry.
'N-No. i...I mean, yes!" Lincoln stammered. "Yeah, i'm okay. I'm just. Not used to this."
"Aww. Don't worry. I'm here to help you through it~" Bun Bun said while nuzzling her face against him. Lincoln's blush lingered and his eyes seemed to drift away from her. Now it felt like hugging a shorter version of Leni.
The door creaked and opened.
"Linky?"
Speak of the devil.
"Dad left you some breakfast Burritos, you should totes hurry before-" Leni told him as she entered. But her words quickly faltered as she watched Lincoln. With a complete stranger hugging him.
"Oh...Em...Gosh..." Leni slowly muttered.
"Leni! I can explain!" Lincoln stammered.
"Linky! If you wanted a morning hug, why didn't you just ask me? I would've gladly given you one!" Leni cried out. Lincoln's shoulder lowered. as did his eyelids when he realized Leni was getting hung up on the wrong thing.
"Dudes? What's with all the noise?" Luna asked entering the room, where she was greeted by the same sight. Lincoln hugging a pants-less, underwear-only wearing, bunny eared girl. Luna, Lincoln and the Bunny starred at each other in shock.
"Luna. I can explain."
"Yeah. i sure hope you can, bro..."
