A disembodied voice speaks over a black screen:
"What happens when you gather up a bunch of hormonal teenagers, strand them on an island at the crappiest summer camp ever imagined, and have them fight each other tooth and nail for a chance to win 1 million dollars?"
Black and white images flash across the screen. Familiar faces, smiling faces. Previous contestants on the Total Drama show. Then, from their smiling headshots, the scene shifts to sepia tone images of them screaming for their lives, and crying themselves to sleep at night. As the slideshow ends, and fades to black, two silhouettes step in front of the screen.
"You get beautiful, beautiful, television," one of the figures burbled, dabbing at their eye with a cloth. "The art of human struggle, their tenacity! Blossoming love, and the chance to discover oncself through adversity!"
"And you get to watch a bunch of losers scream like idiots and wet themselves," the other figure said. "Which I think is also beautiful."
Spotlights shine down on the figures. A man and a woman.
The man is pale, tall and willowy, with square glasses and his hair cut into a floppy periwinkle midpart. He wears a black, two breasted suit with coat-tails and white gloves, that make him seem even longer and more slender than he is. His expression is weepy yet full of panache.
The woman is tanned, stocky and wide, with ample curves and long, rolling waves of scarlet hair, highlighted every so often with streaks of gold, like fire. She has a crude grin smeared across her face, and she wears sunglasses on top of her head, Daisy-Dukes, and a Hawaiian shirt over a tank top.
"What's good Total Drama fans. The name's Kiana," the woman says, "And this is Klein. We'll be your hosts this season, on Total Drama: Legacy."
"We've been instructed by our gracious benefactor, who will not be named at this time (no spoilers!) to take the show back to its roots," Klein says, pushing up his glasses. "That means no gimmicks, no frills, and…" He sighs sadly. "No singing."
"Nope!" Kiana says cheerfully. "We're goin' back to basics! Just a dozen odd hormonal embarrassment machines fighting for dominance in the biggest garbage dump you've ever seen, for 12 weeks!" She cackles. "It's gonna be so awesome."
"But wait!" Klein reaches out dramatically. "There's more! You should know that despite us going back the original format, there are certainly some changes this season. First and foremost: everything has been dialled up. The drama, the spicy, the angst, the love, the FEAR!"
"Annnd the danger. For this reason, we're asking that our submitting teens be within the age range of 18 and 19," Kiara adds. "For liability reasons. Our lawyers forced us."
"Secondly, and this is the exciting one. Kiara! Drum roll, if you please!" Klein says.
"On it," KIara says. Then, she cups a hand to her mouth and shouts off camera. "YO TIM! DRUMS!"
Moments later, a tiny blonde intern wearing a Total Drama uniform comes into frame, panting and sweating and grunting as he struggles to push an entire drum kit forward for Kiara. He finally gets there, and stops for a moment to catch his breath.
"Alright, beat it, Tim," Kiara says, hip checking him and sending him stumbling out of frame as she sits at the drums. Then, she starts to rattle her drumsticks, giving Klein his drumroll until…
"The contestants of this season…
…
…
…
… will be singing a four season contract! That's right, if you're audition tape is chosen, and we select you for Total Drama: Legacy, you're guaranteed another chance. Three, as a matter of fact, as you'll be invited back to the game at the beginning of each new season, even if you were eliminated before."
"Oh, and did we mention?" Kiara adds. "Certain perks, or penalties… heh… might follow contestants from one season to the next. That means that we're looking at high stakes people. But each season's death-defying, pants-peeing, mouth-puking, grueling tortue will be made worth it by…"
The camera whips around to a giant chest full of money. Stacks and stacks of bills.
"One Million Dollars!" Kiara and Klein say together.
"If you think about it…" Klein says, waggling his eyebrows. "You're technically competing for Four Million Dollars."
"So? What are you waiting for! If you think you're up for the challenge (and you're a legal adult, again, our legal team will kill us), send in an audition tape to our email!"
Hi everyone, and welcome to Total Drama: Legacy. This is a SYOC story, meaning I'll be accepting OC's from all of you to participate as contestants (or as we like to call them, Campers), in this brand new original season! Y'all know how this goes by now, however, I wanna go over the basics of my SYOC, as its a little different than usual:
- Original Hosts, Original Cast
As you probably saw, instead of Chris and Chef Hatchet, we have some OC hosts this season, written by me. Klein and Kiara are a comedic duo with some eccentric personalities, who will really help to balance each other out, and to keep the Campers on their toes. I hope you look forward to them! They'll be taking our Campers back to the classic shores of Wawanakwa, for a season using the traditional format, but full of twists.
- Intensity Warning
This season is going to be aimed for a slightly more mature audience, and as such, your sumbitted characters should be within the age range of 18-19 years old. There will be a thorough opt-in-opt-out system during application for the mature themes of this story, so that your OC won't participate in parts you do not want them to. However, as a blanket Content Warning for the fic as a whole, readers might be wary of: Swearing, Violence and Blood, Bodily Fluids, (Censored) Nudity, Implied Sexual Activity, Romance, Intense Fear Sequences, Animal Violence (Animals being violent to Campers and vice versa), and Drugs and Alchohol.
If any of that is a dealbreaker, then that's OK! My fic might just not be for you.
- Application Process and Multiple Seasons
There will be an application form on my profile. Applications must be sent using this format to be considered. You can copy and paste that form, and then fill it out in a PM sent to me. I will not consider applications sent via review, PM me your application.
As noted in the fiction, your character will be joining up for several seasons. Since I plan for this to be a long running series, with multiple seasons like the original series, we will be starting with a very limited cast. This way, I can write episodes faster, get them to you faster, and I can focus on interpersonal dynamics a bit more easily.
I will be accepting 14 total Campers for Total Drama: Legacy.
You may submit a maximum of 2 OC's for consideration, but only 1 OC per account will be accepted.
The deadline for applications is January 16th (2025) at 12:00 AM CST. I will post the cast list that following weekend.
Total Drama: Legacy will be Season 1 of the "Legacy Series". I plan for there to be 4 Seasons in total. If at any time you wish to withdraw your character between seasons, PM me and we can discuss ways of having them written off.
That's all from me for now, dear readers, and I look forward to seeing your OC's!
