"Woman!"
Hiei's voice could be heard inside the home, followed by the sound of his footsteps that were moving fast.
Botan raised her head up from the magazine that she had presently been reading, hearing him call for her. And if he called her Woman instead of by her name, then that meant he was upset.
"Sounds like the cat's out of the bag." She said to herself as he was getting closer.
Hiei marched forward to their living room, a scowl on his face as he spotted Botan in a chair, looking on at him with that cat smile on her face that she always had whenever she did something sneaky or mischievious.
"What is it dear?" Botan asked her husband innocently.
"Don't give me that, explain yourself." Hiei said to her with a growl. "What...Is...This?" He said and holding out his hands produced the subject of his ire.
"What?" Botan said defensively as though she had no idea what he was upset about.
Hiei was shown holding in his hands, a stuffed plush black dragon toy. That looked just like The Dragon of The Darkness Flame, he had found it in the nursery room when he had returned from training and immediately upon seeing it, he knew who to blame for this.
"Don't you think it's cute?" Botan asked him.
"Cute?" Hiei repeated, spitting out the word like it was poison on his lips.
"Yes, I went to a build your own doll shop the other day and had it custom ordered and made. Doen't it look adorable?" Botan told him with a smile. "Just imagine our Son snuggling up to it while he sleeps!" She said cupping her hands to her face as she beamed
Hiei looked on at her like she was insane as he stared back at the plush toy that was in his hands.
Just looking at it made Hiei sick to his stomach that his most powerful attack, the legendary being that no one else was able to tame before, had been reduced to this. Looking like a cartoon creature with wide eyes and having it's tongue sticking out. It had been stripped of it's pride and strength, an utter mockery of what it once was. The attack that had wiped out half of The Dark Tournament arena and destroyed hundreds, now reduced to this.
"This is not staying." He told Botan with a frown as he scowled at The Dragon Plush.
"What?" Botan protested.
"Absolutely not." Hiei said. "No way is this staying." He told the bluenette who huffed. "No Son of mine is going to have this."
"Oh c'mon!" Botan argued as she with a bit of effort pulled herself up from the chair. "You didn't argue about any of the other stuff we did to decorate his room!" The Pregnant Ferry Girl told him.
Hiei frowned at her.
When Botan had wanted to paint clouds on the walls of his room, he had went with it. When Urameshi's Woman and Yukina had found moon decorations for the crib that would play music, he had reluctantly agreed to it despite finding it foolish.
But this? This was where he drew the line. Not a chance in The Three Worlds was he going to allow this.
He glared at the Dragon plush that seemed to be mocking him with it's wide eyes. Those were the first things he was going to destroy as he reached for his sword.
"Ah, Ah, Ah!" Botan chided him as she could see his intentions. "Don't even think about it Hiei!" She said with a frown knowing what he had in mind before he could. "I paid a lot of money to have that made." She scolded him.
"Money foolishly wasted then." Hiei told her shaking his head as He pondered whether to slice it to ribbons or burn it to ash. Perhaps he should summon The Dragon so to have it destroy the accursed thing itself.
"You destroy it and you'll be cooking your own meals for a month!" Botan warned him causing him to frown. That was always her go to threat for whenever they got into a heated argument.
Hiei barely knew how to work the blasted human contraptions such as the stove and oven without causing a disaster, and he was too proud and stubborn to ask how to from anyone. His usual method of cooking involved catching something and roasting it over a fire.
The Fire Demon frowned as he continued to glare at the Dragon Plush.
Botan went to say something when she suddenly felt a pain in her abdomen and she inhaled with a hiss as she brought a hand to her stomach.
"What's wrong?" Hiei asked as he looked on as she winced and rubbed her belly.
"Apparently, your son has heard us arguing and wants in on the fight." Botan told him gingerly. "He's got your stubborn nature." She said with a pained smile as she felt him kicking causing her to wince.
"Here," Hiei said setting the plush aside as he walked over to her. Gently, he guided her back to the chair and helped her sit down. A sharp contrast to how he had been moments earlier. "Feel better?" He asked as he handed her a cup of tea on the table beside them.
"Yes, thank you." Botan said with a smile as she sipped it. A special brew that Kurama had taught her to make.
Hiei nodded his head as he looked on at her as Botan patted her belly. The child inside was getting larger and stronger with each passing month since her pregnancy started. It was only a matter of weeks until he was born.
"The brat had better be worth the months of trouble we've been having waiting." Hiei muttered folding his arms across his chest. "Sometimes, like you, I think he enjoys coming up with new ways to aggravate me."
"Oh, don't try and act like you're not excited too." Botan teased him knowing it was all an act.
Hiei turned his head not to look at her as he glanced over at the stuffed Dragon which Botan noticed.
"Oh, so does that mean we are keeping it then?"
"Hn."
