Title: I Choose Us

Summary: Michaela has a decision to make. Who did her heart belong to in the end? Zeke or Jared? My preferred outcome is the result.

Chapter 1

(Michaela could not have taken it easy if she tried. She was pacing the floors of her brother, Ben's house, as she was trying to come to a decision. Just a few months ago, she believed that Jared was the love of her life. She had intended on saying 'yes' to his marriage proposal. Then things got so messed up and things went downhill. However, she never stopped loving her ex and her ex made it clear she held his heart. Ugh! She honestly did not know what to do)

(Fast forward to the present. She is currently engaged to be married to Zeke. She loved Zeke. She soon was going to vow to spend the rest of her life with him. She thought he was her soulmate. Hell, she practically wrecked her relationship with Jared because she thought Zeke was her soulmate. But now? She honestly did not know)

(Michaela had to ask herself if she was ready to tie the knot with one man if her heart was not truly in it. She felt she could be happy with Zeke. Truth was, just how happy could she be? Maybe Michaela was waiting for a sign. A sign to tell her what to do. A sign to tell her who she would truly be happy with)

Ben: "You know, you're going to wear out the floor, sis."

(Michaela quit pacing the basement floor and faced her brother in confusion)

Michaela: "Huh? What'd you say?"

Ben: (chuckles) "I said you are going to wear out the floor. What is wrong? You look like something is on your mind."

Michaela: (chuckles dryly) "Am I that obvious?"

Ben: (nods) "A little bit, yes. Talk to me, sis. Is everything okay?"

(Michaela quit pacing for the moment to face her brother. She was trying not to be a nervous wreck)

Michaela: "I honestly wish everything was okay, Ben. I'm-I'm not sure what to do."

Ben: "About what?"

Michaela: (sighs) "I love Zeke. I do. I-I mean, I said yes to his marriage proposal."

Ben: (sighs sympathetically) "But you are wondering if he is your soulmate. You are wondering if you truly got over Jared."

(Michaela looked at her brother weirdly. How did he know what she was thinking if she was not even sure herself? Ben comforted his sister by massaging her shoulder)

Michaela: "How-How did...?"

Ben: (chuckles softly) "How did I know? No offense, sis, but I can read you like a book. Especially right now. I know you love Zeke. That has never been a question. I also know you love Jared. Hell, you have loved Jared for years. Forever, it seems like. It is like your heart is going all over the place. You just need to ask yourself who you love more? Who is willing to risk their lives for you more? Who do you picture a forever with, with no question and who would not lie to you? If you know the answer to those questions, you know who your heart belongs to."

(Michaela nods in response and deep down, she did know who her heart truly belonged to. She briefly closes her eyes and sighs deeply as she knew she had a decision to make. She just did not know if she was too late in telling the person. Suddenly, she felt a gust of wind go past her as her hair blew all over)

Michaela: (thinking) "Save him. Save him."

(Michaela looked around without moving her head as she was wondering what just happened)

Michaela: (thinking) "Save him. Save him."

(Who was she supposed to save? Just then Jared's face comes rushing into her mind. Michaela looked all over the place, wondering what the hell was going on. Why did she need to save Jared? On instinct, she looks up Jared's number in her phone and lets it ring. It rings. And keeps on ringing. It goes straight to voicemail)

Jared's voice: "Hey, it is Jared. Leave a message."

(Michaela runs her hand through her hair as she looks all over, wondering what to do. Once she hears the beep, she talks in a panic)

Michaela: "Jared, where are you? Call me, please. I-I need to hear your voice to make sure you are okay."

(After hanging up, she starts panting as she did not know what to do. Suddenly, it is like her instincts were telling her what to do. She knew where to go. It was at the last place they were together recently. She did not know why he would be there. Something told her that is where he would be, though. She rushes up the stairs and out the front door. Everyone calling out her name, wondering what was going on)
