And it's back!
It's rewritten and more detailed than the original.
I hope you enjoy this version more than the last.
As you all know, I do NOT own Fairy Tail and it's Characters.
Now, On with the show!
Dreams are like a looking glass into the heart and soul.
But what if Dreams were more like a Looking Glass into the future?
Could a dream really save lives?
Could a dream really predict what's to come?
Or is it just that?
Just a Dream.
It was hazy like a thick fog covered the area. The wind blew, making the trees sway and the leaves fall. The fog moved and twisted around her. She didn't know where she was. The land around her turned from a lush forest to a scene where ash covered the area. Buildings were turned into rubble. Everywhere she looked, there was destruction and fire. She spun in circles, trying to find someone, anyone. The land was barren besides the rubble and ash.
She tried to yell but she had no voice. She grabbed her throat trying again to cry out for help. But nothing came out. She looked around frantically as the fog moved in on her. She took a few steps back but tripped over something landing on her butt. She pushed herself up onto her hands as she looked at the fog that seemed like it was dancing. The fog seemed to swirl and twist to its own secret tune.
She slid her hand across the ground trying to feel for something. She didn't know what but she knew something wasn't right. That's when her hand went over something soft and furry. Her whole body froze. She felt something pointy with a curve before she reached something else that was pointy. They were covered in fur.
Tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't want to look. She didn't want to confirm what she was touching. She continued to run her hand over the curve where she came upon something shaped like a triangle. It was dry and rough. She pulled her hand away to her chest as a silent sob worked its way up her throat.
Using her feet she pushed herself away from it. She was glad for the fog. She didn't want to see what it was that she was touching. She didn't go far though. She bumped into something round and hard. She didn't want to turn around to see what it was but she knew she had to. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she turned herself around to see what it was she bumped into.
She turned her body to look and what she saw had a strangled cry rip from her throat. All she could see was the salmon-colored hair that she remembered seeing every day since she joined Fairy Tail. She turned onto her knees to get a closer look. She couldn't believe it. She wouldn't believe it. She reached forward to touch the hair it disappeared along with everything around her.
"That's the future that awaits you."
The voice was her own, but she knew she didn't say it. She looked around and saw only black. She pushed up onto her feet as she looked around. She was on the verge of freaking out. She went to speak again but nothing came out. She took a step back as her head swung back and forth. She couldn't see anything, not even her own hand in front of her face.
Fear snaked down her spine as she spotted something shimmering in the distance. She swallowed before she stepped forward toward the shimmering object. She knew she was probably being the typical dumb blonde but she needed to know what that was. As she got closer the shimmering turned into her reflection. She lifted a hand to touch it but it burst and shattered ripping a scream to leave her mouth. She stumbled backward gripping her throat, shocked to hear her voice was back.
"You have to stop it."
Her eyes widened as she heard her voice again coming from behind her. She spun and saw a cloaked figure standing before her. The figure was about her height. She scanned the figure up and down noticing that she could only see one hand sticking out from the end of a sleeve and that they weren't wearing any shoes. Her eyes snapped back to the shadowed face of the figure in front of her.
"Who are you?" Lucy spoke, her throat feeling raw from not being able to use it.
The figure lifted her hand and gripped the edge of the hood before pulling it back revealing her own face staring back at her. Though, this face looked different. She had a set of three scars that went across her face and neck. Her hair was uneven. Her one eye looked gray. She noticed the hand was scratched and her nails were missing.
"I'm you." The figure said, her voice dull and lifeless.
"What happened?" Lucy asked taking a step back.
"The Dragons happened." The girl said.
"Dragons? That's impossible, the dragons have been gone for hundreds of years." Lucy stated her stance defensive.
The figure nodded but didn't say anymore. It was like she looked through you instead of at you. She looked lost and battered. It seemed like years before the girl spoke again but this time the girl looked Lucy right in her eyes.
"You have to stop this from happening. You have to save everyone." The girl said taking a step forward before wobbling and falling to her hand and knees. "Please. You have to save them." She cried.
Lucy was at a loss. She didn't know whether she could believe this or blow it off. After all, she had the games to train for. She didn't have time for whatever this was.
"Look, I wish I could help, but my team needs me and I have-" Lucy began but she was off with a wail from the girl who knelt in front of her.
"Please! They're all dead. I couldn't save them. Please! I wasn't enough... I'm never enough..." The girl said her eyes moving to look at the ground below her. "Natsu." She croaked. "Happy. Levy. Erza. Everyone. They're all gone. I couldn't save them." The girl kept repeating.
Lucy's blood ran cold. She didn't want it to be true. She couldn't believe what this girl was saying, could she? But if she ignored it and something did happen to everyone because she ignored the girl in front of her, could she live with herself?
She watched the girl in front of her. The girl was barely holding it together. The girl was supposedly her. But how was that possible?
Gemini maybe?
No, she's never looked like that so there was no way Gemini could make her look like that.
Lucy felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought. The girl that was in front of her looked like her but not the same. She had her voice, she knew the names of her closest friends. But could she really believe that the Dragon's attacked and killed everyone? There was no way, they had the Dragon Slayers on their side.
"That's impossible! The Dragon Slayer's would never lose!" Lucy exclaimed even though she hardly believed her own words.
The girl shook her head. "Ten Thousand Dragons. Even the Dragon Slayers couldn't handle that many dragons. Please! We'll lose everyone and everything. You have to listen to me. Only you can save them all now. Please." The girl cried bowing her head, resting her forehead against the ground.
Lucy was at a loss for words. She wanted to believe that the Dragon Slayers could never be beaten, but this girl had a point, she didn't think even the Dragon Slayers would stand a chance against that many dragons.
She stood staring at the girl. She didn't know whether to try and help or just ignore her and let things play out. But then again, she couldn't bear the thought of losing everyone she held dear.
Lucy sighed. "All right. How can I stop this from happening?" She asked kneeling and putting her hand on the girl's shoulder.
The girl looked up at Lucy, her eyes vacant. "I've thought 'What could I do differently to help?' So many times, and it's never been enough." The girl mumbled her head tilting and resting against Lucy's hand. The girl looked lost in thought. "I couldn't do it alone. Maybe..." The girl trailed off with a sigh. "I'm so tired." She mumbled.
Lucy smiled sadly. "You're not alone. You're never alone. We've got Fairy Tail. They can help." She said squeezing the girl's shoulder.
The girl shook her head. "They all die. I don't know how I survived. I just woke up and everyone was gone." The girl mumbled. "Perhaps someone outside of Fairy Tail could have helped. None of us knew the games would end in destruction." She continued not realizing she was speaking out loud.
"The games?" Lucy gasped.
The games weren't that far away. In fact, they just arrived at Akane to train. Even though her spirits had messed up their timeline they were able to get stronger thanks to Ultear.
Ultear?
Outside of Fairy Tail?
Jellal!
"Jellal? He could help, couldn't he?" Lucy asked.
The girl looked startled as she locked eyes with Lucy. She blinked like she was lost in space until the words clicked in her mind.
The girl slowly nodded. "Possibly. But I don't know how." She muttered.
Lucy let her thoughts spiral. She had several possibilities running through her head. Not many made much sense but there was one that she kept coming back to. It was possible so it might work.
"Jellal could train me. His magic is similar to ours. It shouldn't be too hard to learn his, would it?" Lucy asked giving a sad smile.
The girl looked like she was thinking about it. She looked like Lucy always did when thoughts and possibilities ran through her head. At least that hadn't changed.
"It could work. But we can't involve our team. They'd be against it. They wouldn't believe me. They'll think I'm crazy." The girl said but ended up muttering the last bit.
Lucy thought about it. It was possible they would think she was crazy if she ever told them this, but they'd help her nonetheless because she believed it. But if this girl said not to involve her team maybe she should listen.
Lucy sighed. "Who can we trust then?" She asked.
The girl looked startled again before gathering her wits. "We can't enter the games with Team A. We need to change everything so nothing is the same." She half muttered like she was still in thought.
Lucy tilted her head in confusion. "Team A? What do you mean?" She asked.
"Master sends two teams to compete in the games. Team A and Team B. But both teams make the final cut. We're on Team A but I don't think we should be. Maybe it'd be enough just to switch up the teams." The girl's tone turned hopeful.
Lucy sighed, she didn't like the thought of this. "Who's on Team B?" She asked reluctantly.
The girl looked startled again. "Mira, Gajeel, Juvia, Laxus and Mystogan." She answered almost sounding confused by the question.
Lucy blinked. "Mystogan? But he's not on Earthland anymore." She asked in confusion.
"Oh!" The girl said like she just remembered something. "Master has Jellal stand in as Mystogan. But he ends up being reckless." She explained before her tone turned sad.
Lucy thought about it. It made sense. Mystogan was actually Jellal from another world. It could work especially if she could get Jellal to train her. But could she really work with Laxus and Gajeel? Gajeel probably but Laxus? That thought alone scared her. What if Laxus told Master no? What if Laxus had a problem with being a the same team as her? Would Laxus accept her?
Those thoughts were giving her a headache.
Lucy sighed before giving a small smile. "One step at a time. Let's first ask Jellal to see if he could train me. Then we'll worry about getting Master to put me on Team B instead. Although, I have no idea how." She said getting to her feet while pulling the girl to hers.
The girl stared at her and blinked before it seemed to click. "Switch with Juvia. She's the most logical to switch with." She said her eyes growing heavy. "So tired." She mumbled.
"Hey! Come on, stay with me. I need you." Lucy said grabbing the girl's shoulders.
"When it comes time, ask Laxus to help. Don't rely on Natsu. He's too reckless." The girl said, her voice starting to fade along with her.
Lucy's eyes widened. "Wait!" Lucy went to lunge at her but the girl gave a small sad smile.
"We'll meet again. I'm just so tired. I can't keep hold of the connection." The girl said before she fully disappeared.
Lucy went to take a step but that's when she felt the ground disappear. Darkness surrounded her as she felt like she was falling through the sky.
She closed her eyes and let out a scream.
Lucy bolted upright with a gasp covered in sweat and breathing heavily. Her heart racing just as fast as her mind. She pressed a hand to her forehead. Was it real? Did she really just talk to someone who claimed to be her future self? Could she really trust what that girl told her? She felt something wet drip onto the skin of her bare thigh. Moving her hand to her cheek she felt wetness. She was crying?
Lucy's dream flashed through her mind. Feeling what felt like the head of a cat. Seeing hair the same color as her best friend. She squeezed her eyes shut to stop the images but they kept flashing. Could that really happen if she ignored what she was told? She got out of bed on shaky legs. She stumbled her way to the bathroom. She flicked the light on and gripped the edge of the sink.
Lucy looked up into the mirror. Her reflection looked back at her. The image changed briefly to the girl from her dream before it changed back. She shook her head before turning on the taps. She filled her hands with water before splashing it on her face. She repeated the motion two more times before looking back in the mirror. She wanted to ignore what was in her dream but could she take the risk that the girl was telling the truth?
Lucy felt like she was at a crossroads. Does she ignore it or does she listen? The girl from her dream, her future self supposedly, told her to get help from Jellal. She knew Jellal was still nearby, he said they weren't leaving until the morning. She looked at the bathroom window. The sun was just peaking over the horizon. She looked back at the mirror. She guessed she was really considering this wasn't she?
Lucy sighed before exiting the bathroom and gathering her stuff. She moved around the room as quickly as she could not wanting to wake the others. She needed to do this one on her own. She couldn't let them get involved. Once her bag was packed she headed for the door before stopping with her hand hovering over the handle.
Lucy knew she couldn't just leave without saying anything. Natsu would hunt her down like the annoying bloodhound he was. She didn't need him doing that. She needed him and the rest of her team away from this for right now. She realized that she had become reliant on them over the time was at Fairy Tail. She needed to break that and break it now.
Lucy grabbed a pen and a piece of paper before writing a short note for the girls when they woke.
Sorry, guys.
I'm going to go train on my own for a while.
Don't try to find me, I need to do this for myself.
Erza, keep Natsu under control.
I'll meet you here before we return to Magnolia.
XOXO
Lucy
Lucy put the note on the end table by her bed before heading back to the door. She took one last glance around the room before leaving the room, closing the door softly behind her. She quietly walked down the hall past the boy's door. She didn't dare stop. Natsu would pick up her scent from inside and come running to see why she was there. She needed to move fast.
Once outside, Lucy walked toward the treeline where she knew there was a bridge that led to the other side of the beach. The part of the beach where she knew Jellal and his guild stayed. Although, three people didn't exactly make a guild but she understood why they called themselves that.
Lucy came upon the bridge and stopped seeing that it was back to being broken. She sighed. She really didn't have time for this, she needed to catch Crime Sorciere before they left. She walked up to the broken-down bridge ready to yell across but once her feet hit the edge the bridge began rebuilding itself. This time when she sighed it was in relief.
Once the bridge was fully rebuilt she ran across it to the other side and kept running once she reached the edge of the beach. She looked and saw a fire burning in the middle of a group of three people. She sagged in relief that she caught them before they left. She hefted the bag on her shoulder more before squaring her shoulder and making her way across the beach toward the group.
Jellal had his back facing Lucy while the others who sat across from him could easily spot her. And it became evident that they were still tired because she was about ten feet away when Meredy lifted her head at her approach.
Meredy raised her eyebrows, almost hitting her hairline. "Lucy?!" She exclaimed her speech muffled by a bun hanging out of her mouth.
The others turned quickly at Meredy's words. Their eyes locked on Lucy as she got closer. Lucy looked nervous but that's not what drew Jellal's attention. It was the bag she carried on her shoulder. He tilted his head studying her as she stopped a few feet from them.
Lucy shifted her feet as she mulled over her words in her head. She had no idea how to even ask this. If she was being honest, Jellal made her nervous. She knew he wasn't the bad guy anymore but he was once and he scared her then. Although, Erza trusted him so he couldn't be that bad.
Lucy took a deep breath in as she tightened her grip on the strap of her bag. She blew it out slowly before stepping forward and squaring her shoulders.
"Jellal, I would like to ask if you could train me."
