DO NOT COMMENT ABOUT WANTING TO COLAB WITH ME ON A COVER IDEA! I AM NOT INTERESTED!

I was walking into the nursery, where I worked after school. "Amy! Thank goodness! Are you Okay?" I said "No. I'm sorry... I know we're short staffed. I'm sure it's nothing... My husband, and I can't afford a sick day." My names Amy Singh. I'm 16 years old, and married to fellow 16 year old Adam, I was considered legally emancipated, my parents completely abandoned me once the I do's were said. I am the baby sister of Michael Swanson, who was married to Luci, who was the big sister to Tina, who was dating our friend, Derek. The marriage was perfect except for one thing... Adam lived in Dallas, and I lived in Allen still. "Oh honey, you go home and rest. Completely paid." My boss insisted. "Thank you. I really appreciate it!" but before I could head to the door, I passed out.

When I woke, I was in the hospital. "What... Happened?" I mumbled to the seemingly empty room. "Oh thank goodness. Can someone page Dr. Swanson!?" That voice. "Adam?" I whispered, as I looked to my side, smiling as I saw him. "Hey my queen." He whispered. "Your work called. I came right away, I got a leave of absence from school and work. Work is completely paid." I felt his arms wrap around me gently. "Thank you... For coming..." Adam kissed my head, and said "Of course." "Hey Ames." Michael said with a smile, kissing my head. "How are you feeling?" I shrugged and said "the same. When can I go home?" He said "We've only gotten your blood results. But, one of them struck me. You're about 3 months pregnant..." I looked shocked and said "What?! Whose Pregnant?!" Adam said "Yeah are you sure you have the right chart?" We've only been intimate a few times, but always used protection... Well Adam did. "Yes, I have the right chart... Amy, you are pregnant." I said "Impossible... We use protection..." "Even if you use protection... You can still get pregnant... But it's less likely if you both are using it... Are you both using protection?" I ducked my head going bright red. "Well as soon as I give birth... I'll go straight on some birth control..." "Good Idea." Michael commented, before saying "But you are fighting something... I need to do a chest x-ray..." "Is that safe for her and the baby?" Adam asked. "We don't usually like doing one on pregnant, but I think its really important to make a diagnosis." Adam looked to me and I said "Whatever you need."

After a few hours, I was cocooned in Adam's arms. "Alright, Amy, and Adam, we have the results of the chest x-ray..." I sat up and said "What's wrong with me?" Michael said "X-ray shows you have pneumonia..." I said "WHAT?! How the heck... Oh crap... The nursery had a notice on the door saying there was an outbreak of pneumonia in the nursery... Oh my God... I put our child at risk... Adam, I'm so sorry!" "Don't apologize. It's treatable... Right Michael?" Michael said "Very. I know a pregnancy safe antibiotic I'm going to prescribe you." I nodded and said "Thanks. Can we go home?" He nodded, as he signed the discharge papers and got the prescription sent over to the pharmacy. "Alright, you both are all set, Ames, Me and Luci will go get your car and drop it off. Adam, we called one in for you as well... I know you don't like getting sick." Adam said "Thanks Bro." We left, picked up the medicine and went back to our cheap apartment.

"I'm sorry... I've felt too sick to do much cleaning or even eat..." "It's okay honey, I'll take care of everything. You go rest." I sat on the couch. After a little while he sat beside me. "Thanks for taking care of everything... I really appreciate it..." I whispered and laid my head on his shoulder. "Of course, my love, I also I also started some laundry. Hope that's Okay." "You are too good to me." I smiled a little, and he wrapped his arms around me. "I love you, sweetheart." I leaned up and kissed his lips, which he happily returned. "I love you so much too." I replied, as we broke apart.

That is when my phone rang. Adam pulled away and looked at the number. "Hello? Hey... Is everything Okay? What?! Umm Yeah, bring her over... Does it matter we're only 16? Thank you..."

Amy: Hey Michael, can you get a preventative antibiotic? For Kathy? It's a long story.

Michael: No worries. I'll bring it over.

I smiled, as I dialed my work's number. "Hey Rose! It's Amy... Yeah, I'm okay... I've got pneumonia... I'm so sorry! I know I'm leaving you guys in the lurch... I feel... Thank you... I need to talk to you, when I get cleared to come in... Thank you!" I hung up, as there was a knock on the front door. "Can you get that?" I asked. Adam stood up and went to the door, "Hi, Can I help you?" "Hi we spoke to a Mrs. Amy Singh?" "That's my wife... Come in... Hi Little girl. My name's Adam." "Kathy..." They came back over, Kathy curled up in my arms, crying. I helped out her mom and nana, all the time, her mom always told me she was going to name me as guardian of Kathy if anything ever happened to her or Nana. "What do we have to sign?" I asked, as the lawyer pushed the papers forward. "Right on the line." I had a note to drive others in my car, since I sometimes took Tina, Derek and Kathy wherever they needed. "Alright. And there is this..." The lawyer handed me an envelope with my name on it. "Look at it after she's asleep... My card's here, too if you need anything." I said "Thank you..." After a few minutes, Adam and I got Kathy to bed. "What are we going to do? We can't stay here..."

"It's all we can afford though..." Adam sighed, before we kissed a now sleeping Kathy's head, and left the room. "You know what? Start looking for a bigger home, and I'll figure things out, and see if I can transfer back to Allen." "What?! Adam we can't ask you to do that!" "You're not. I'm offering, and if I can't, I'll see if mom and dad will help out to get the house... They've been telling me for a while now, how they want us to get a house and all that, and to let them know how to help." I said "Thank you..." He smiled, as we sat on the couch. "I'll send more money too. We're going to figure this out honey. I promise." "I know you are right..." He kissed my head lovingly, as I opened the envelope the lawyer gave us. Inside was key's to Kathy's old apartment, a letter, and a copy of the adoption papers, which still needed our signatures, so we signed them. The official one was in the courts.

I opened the letter and read it. "'Dear Amy, I'm sorry, to do this via letter, but Kathy's nana passed, and I'm on my way out too. I've signed over her guardianship to you and Adam. I don't care how young you are. I know you will give her a beautiful life. Please, keep her safe. Don't let her miss us too much, give her the love she needs. If she wants to call you mum and dad, and take Singh as her last name, I'd be proud. I already consider you and Adam apart of our family. Go to our apartment and get her things... She didn't have time to pack... Give her my love...'" I looked up to Adam, and he said "Wow... I can't believe it..." I said "I know... It doesn't seem real..." "What are you going to do?" He asked, as I took a deep breath. "Well for starters I'm going to get to feeling better, than I'll go and get our guardianship on file at her dentist, and pediatrician..." "and what about work?" He asked.

"I'm going to figure that out..." "I'll go over to the apartment tomorrow morning, and get her things." "No, I will. I know where everything is. I used to help out with getting groceries, and babysitting for them a lot. But Kathy needs routine, and she should probably go to school, so we'll drop her off before we go..." "Sounds good to me." Just then Michael and Luci entered and we told them everything, about us adopting Kathy, and just all of it. They visited a while, hugging us telling us they'd be here for us no matter what.

Callie (Adam's Mom): Hey Son, did you make it? We haven't heard anything. How's Amy?

Adam: Oh my Gosh! I'm so sorry! I meant to text you! Yes I got here fine, I was in the hospital with Amy. She's okay too. She's got a case of pneumonia. But we also have a couple surprises... Both are shocking. She's pregnant, and we were just informed we've got a guardianship and officially adopted, a little girl named Kathy. Amy was close with her family and they trusted her more than anyone. Before you even say it I know. Trying to raise a family in this tiny 1 bedroom apartment isn't going to work. Amy and I already discussed it and we're going to start looking for a house.

We slept on the couch, that night.

In the morning, I woke to Kathy shaking me. "Hey sweetie... Sorry, I guess we over slept. Let's get you some breakfast." We got breakfast and I got changed, and we all took our antibiotic, before. We went to the school and dropped off Kathy before dropping off copies of the adoption papers. Before we went to the dentist for Kathy, and her pediatrician, giving her a copy of the adoption papers, before we went to the apartment and packed up all of Kathy's things before we went house hunting. "Adam? Can we go home? I'm tired, and not feeling so good." I said after a few houses. "Oh of course sweetie." He drove us home.

I laid on the sofa bed, as he sat close to me, caressing my head. "I'm going to call my parents, they never usually take this long. You rest." I nodded and slowly dozed but never fully fell asleep. "This is Adam Singh... Oh god... Oh God... Yeah, I'll be there in the morning... Thank you so much for the call." I heard, and woke up. "What's wrong?" I asked. "My parents... They... Their gone... We have to go... I have to go back to Dallas..." "I'll call the school and get a leave of absence for Kathy, and myself..." I said sitting up reaching for my phone. "You don't have too..." He whispered, as I said "I know, I don't have too. Your my husband. The father to the baby, and the father figure to Kathy. We are a family. I insist." He smiled and said "I'd appreciate it." I called the school and explained the situation, getting a week of loss in the family leave. My work gave me the same.

"Alright, Lets go get Kathy... and we should go get some bags for travel." I whispered. Adam said "We'll go to the store..." WE went to the school and signed Kathy out, who hugged us. We arranged for her mothers funeral and her Nana's for Wednesday. "Let's go... We're going to the store we have to get a few things okay?" Kathy nodded and said "Okay Amy..." She got in and we went to the store and we went to the travel section. "Okay, sweetie, pick one out that you like..." Adam, picked one out and I picked one. "Can I get this one Amy and Adam?" Kathy asked, as Adam said "Of course sweetie." We got the bags and went home. "Don't be afraid. We'll be okay." Adam said, as we threw stuff in the bags. "There. We're ready to go first thing... Now, what do my girls feel like for dinner?" I said "Honestly... I'm thinking about Chicken nuggets... and Fries!" "OOOOHHHHH That sounds soooo goodd! I want that too, Please!" Kathy said, grinning wide. Adam smiled and said "You got it. I'll go grab them, and be back soon." He kissed our heads, before he left.

Amy: Hey Michael, Luci, Tina, and Derek, I had an idea, I want us to do a biweekly Barney and the Backyard Gang camping trip. What do you think? We could make it happen next weekend. We have to go to Dallas tomorrow. I think it would help Kathy and Adam... He just lost his parents...

Michael: That's a great idea Ames. I'll handle the arrangements.

Amy: Thanks bro.

Kathy snuggled into me, as the door came in. "Hey my darlings." We ate together, before we tucked Kathy in bed. "She's so young to have gone through so much heartbreak..." I whispered as we shut the door. "I know, my darling. We owe it to her to give her the best life, despite our age... Her and our baby... I promise, I will do everything, I can to make this marriage and our family work. If we have to drive back and forth, from Dallas just to finish the year, then so be it. I'll send as much money as I can."

"You're the best husband and Father any girls and baby could ask for." I whispered. "I'm really trying to be." He whispered, as we sat on the bed. "I had an idea. After the hell of the next week will be, I already approached Michael, Luci, Tina, and Derek, about doing a bi-weekly Barney and the backyard gang camping trip." "I like that. Thank you. Kathy's coming too?" He replied, as I said "Of course." He held me tight, as we fell asleep.
