"Oh hi, kids! How was school today?" Maddie asked as Danny, Sam, and Tucker walked into his house. Sam had long stopped shivering; some color was even coming to her face, but she kept Danny's jacket on.

"Oh, the usual, math, science, ghost fighting…" Danny said waving his hand in a nonchalant manner

"Did someone say ghost fighting?!" Jack boomed from the kitchen. With a sparkle in his eye, he ran to Danny and picked him up "What kind of ghost was it, son?"

Danny phased through his father's grasp and landed on the floor next to his friends.

"It's so cool that he can do that!" Jack said to Maddie, who patted his back with love in her eyes.

"We haven't seen this one before. But it seems like their main power is electricity rather than ecto energy," Danny said as he formed an ecto ball in his hand for example.

"Electricity, huh?" Maddie said, bringing her hand to her chin deep in thought.

"Got an invention to combat that?" Tucker asked.

"Possibly…" Maddie went to the lab to get something then returned to the living room with what looked like the Spector Deflector. She buckled it around Sam's waist and took a step back.

"Go ahead, Danny. Try using your ice powers."

Danny gave his mom a worried look, "Mom, has this been tested?"

"It will be…" Danny gave his mom a bewildered look. "Oh come on, Honey. I invented it, your dad didn't touch it."

"Uh, what's that supposed to mean?" Jack asked.

Maddie ignored him. "Go ahead, Danny."

Danny looked over at Sam, but she just shrugged. "I lived through the first one didn't I?" She held her hand out to Danny as encouragement. Danny reluctantly took her hand and focused on transferring the cold to her. When he looked back up, he was expecting to see her look like she had back at school, but she looked normal.

"Do you feel anything," Danny asked.

"Just a little tingle, but it feels like a cold breeze more than anything else," Sam responded.

"Yes! It worked!" Maddie clapped as she jumped from excitement.

"What'd you do, mom?" Danny asked as he stopped using his cold power, but didn't release Sam's hand.

"At first, the Spector Deflector could only repel ecto energy. Now that we know there are more powers out there, like your ice powers, I've been developing the belt to repel any ghost activity, no matter the power source. And the best part is," Maddie said as she went to Sam to unbuckle the belt off of her and put it on her son. "It shouldn't affect you anymore."

Danny raised his other hand to make an ecto ball form with ease. Then he used his ice powers to encase the ecto ball. He held it in amazement, "I don't feel weak at all."

"That's because I programmed the belt to recognize your ecto signature. If we placed this belt on any other ghost, it would work as normal, meaning that it would still diminish their powers" Maddie sighed in delight and closed her eyes, "I'm an amazing scientist."

"Yes you are, honey," Jack said, kissing her cheek, "but I am too, right?"

Maddie patted his cheek, "of course, honey." Jack walked away proudly. With his back turned to them, Maddie turned back to her son and his friends and held her thumb in a neutral position. Danny and Sam chuckled.

When his parents left the room, they turned over to Tucker who had his nose in his phone. They gave each other a knowing smile.

"We'll accept a thank you now," Danny said.

Tucker didn't lift his eyes from his screen. He had a love-stricken look on his face.

Tucker?" Danny said.

Tucker just waved at Danny and Sam, walking towards the front door, "I'll see you guys later…" Tucker said dreamily as he left Danny's house.

"Woah, he's got it bad," Sam said as she and Danny stared at the spot Tucker was at.

"No kidding," Danny said. He then turned over to Sam and rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "So, Tucker's gone, Jazz is still at her Debate Club meeting, my parents are off doing their own thing…"

Sam gave a knowing smile to Danny and raised her arms to cross them over her chest. "Yeah…" She trailed off. She loved seeing him squirm with nerves.

"Do you wanna…maybe…" Danny pointed upstairs and gave her a sheepish smile.

Sam chuckled under her breath and took a step toward Danny to wrap her arms around his neck. She brought her lips just close enough to Danny's to tease him, "What is it you're asking me, Danny?" She said in a husky voice, similar to when she was possessed by Undergrowth.

A few weeks into their dating, Danny had admitted that while the whole situation scared him, he'd be lying if he didn't find her insanely hot and that it had posed a challenge for him to focus on saving her and everyone. Sam had teased him at first about it, but then she bought a dress that looked very similar to the vine one, and she started using the voice anytime they were about to start a make-out session or were in the middle of a hot make-out session or when she really really wanted something from Danny.

With the voice, she always won.

Instead of responding, Danny closed the small gap between them and captured her lips with his, wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped her legs around his, and quickly turned intangible to fly them to his bedroom.
