2. Sparks Fly

I still can't get that moment with JJ out of my mind. The way he looked at me, the way he held me. Everything.

Now it is 9:00 AM and everyone is awake. I am still in my orange, pink, and white bikini top with tan sweatpants.

"Mira, your hair looks so cute!" Sarah points out my brown hair, which is currently down, cascading down my shoulders.

"Thank you!" I smile at her. Sarah is my best friend, besides JJ of course. But she's like my sister. I love her.

"Mira! Can I talk to you for a second?" John B is on the porch and apparently he wants to talk to me.

"What's up?" I said while walking out the screen door and shutting it.

"What was happening with you and JJ this morning? Y'all looked weird. I mean, if you like him, I guess that's fine. I'm just curious. I'm not gonna go all protective older brother; that's just annoying." I cut him off by hugging him, and he stops talking. I back up and say,

"Thank you so much. Please don't tell him." I smiled at him, hoping he would understand.

"Of course, Mirey." That's what he calls me, and only he can call me that. I've heard people talk about how much they despise their brothers, but I love John B. I mean, he is technically all I have, besides the Pogues of course.

An hour later, we all pile into the boat. JJ grabs my waist and lifts me in so I don't fall.

"That was unnecessary, but thank you." He winks at me, and then everyone starts laughing, and I turn bright red. As soon as I sit down, I take off my sweatpants, leaving me in just a bikini. I catch JJ's eyes wandering over my body. He comes and sits down next to me.

"Hey Blondie," I say, messing up his beautiful blonde hair.

"Not the hair!" We both start laughing again and start messing up my hair, until I turn and notice everyone looking at us and smiling.

"I ship!" Sarah and Kie yell. Pope and John B just nod at each other.

"STOOOOP!" Both JJ and I say at the same time.

A few minutes later, after just jokingly arguing, I announce,

"I'm going in the water!" I get to the edge of the boat and jump in. JJ and John B jump in after me. I see JJ go underwater, and I look towards John B, who is trying to convince Sarah to jump in. I feel something tickle my leg, and I scream. A few seconds later, JJ jumps out of the water.

"JJ YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!" He laughs and swims away. I playfully slap him, and he picks me up out of the water and throws me back in.

"EEEEEEE THAT WAS FUN!" I said once I came up to the surface. JJ and I just burst out laughing. Then we do that look again. He is just staring into my bright green eyes, and I look into his. But Kie breaks the silence.

"Get back on the boat, let's play T or D!" We all get back on the boat, and JJ and I sit together again. His leg is so close to mine that my heart just won't stop racing.

"Mira, truth or dare?" Sarah says with a smirk on her face.

"Uhh, dare." Her face brightens, and she looks at JJ and then me again.

"I dare you to kiss JJ." That sends a rush through my whole body. I turn my head and kiss him. It's like we are the only people on earth. He kisses me back, with passion, but also softly. It feels like how JJ Maybank would kiss me. I wrap my arms around his neck, and his arms string around my waist. All the Pogues start cheering. The kiss lasts for 30 seconds. Once I pull away, I smile, seeing his face so close to mine.

"I think y'all enjoyed that one." Kie and Sarah giggle. His arm stretches around my shoulder.

"Shall we continue the game?" I said sassily.
