"Oh, this is getting ridiculous!" Kitty sighed to herself reading the letter.
"What is it, Kitty?" Elizabeth asked from across the room.
"Lizzie! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that aloud!"
Elizabeth laughed a bit, then returned to her book.
"It's just-" Kitty looked around to be sure they were alone. "Lydia asked me for money again, and I really was hoping I might have enough for, well, something nice without asking you, but-"
"Stop a moment, you said she asked again?"
"Yes, this is the second time this summer," Kitty explained.
"Well, I have some spare pin money."
