Chapter Three. Family Matters
"Here we are," Robin stated as he pulled up near the mansion. Amy looked up and saw the exterior of the mansion. It was a beautiful mansion, a stark contrast to the dark, dreary atmosphere that was Gotham City.
"If it's okay with you," Robin then told her, "I'm going to escort you to the mansion. Bru…..Batman…..Batman would never be able to let me live it down if he found out that I left you hanging after simply dropping you off here."
Amy reluctantly nodded, "All right."
"Good," Robin parked the motorcycle and helped her with the small amount of bags that she had packed, "So, Mandrake is a friend of yours?"
"Family," Amy answered, grabbing a couple of a bags.
"Ah, must be some sort of family," Robin nodded, helping her with her bags, "I know how you must be feeling."
Amy nodded as Robin followed her to the pathway to the mansion. Amy looked nervous, but she was grateful for Robin for his help. This was something she had been waiting her whole life, fourteen years to be exact.
Amy took a deep breath upon arriving at the doorway of the mansion.
"This is it, I assume," Robin spoke up.
Amy nodded, "Yeah. This is it. Maybe my mother Cathleen might have hid something from me regarding Mandrake."
"Why would she do that?" Robin asked.
Amy sighed and shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know."
Finally, she knocked on the door, preparing for anything.
The door opened, revealing a young pre teen boy, who looked like he was of Asian heritage.
"Can I help you?" the boy asked. He looked up, noticing the familiar face, "Oh wow! It's Robin, one of the Bat Family!"
"Yeah, it's me," Robin answered, "I just came here to bring this nice young lady here. She says, uh….."
"I'm looking for Mandrake the Magician," Amy spoke up.
The boy looked surprised by this, "Mandrake, huh? Well, he's not interested in buying anything."
"I'm not selling anything," Amy insisted, "Mandrake and I have a common acquaintances: Cathleen O' Connor."
The boy looked at her in surprise, seeing her features – dark hair, pale skin that would make Snow White jealous, wearing black and red, dark eyes – yeah, this young lady looked like Cathleen O' Connor. Could it be that they were related?
"Sure," the boy nodded, "Come on in. I'll let Mandrake know you are here."
"Will you be okay from now on?" Robin asked.
"Yeah," Amy nodded, "Thanks for the ride."
"No problem," Robin nodded, "I'll be going now."
Amy and the boy looked on as Robin left and hopped back onto his motorcycle and took off.
"Come on in," the boy led Amy into the mansion and then he led her into the lounge.

"What do you think?" Mandrake asked.
"I don't know," Lothar answered, "Cathleen has been very tricky in her mind games lately. She's giving all more a reason for us to find her."
"Mandrake!" they heard Kshin call out. The two men turned around and they saw Kshin with a young lady, who resembled Cathleen – jet black hair, pale skin akin to Snow White, and she was wearing a red shirt, black pants and black jacket.
"What do we have here?" Lothar asked as he and Mandrake stood up from their seats.
"My name is Amy O' Connor," the young lady shyly introduced herself, "and I am the daughter of Cathleen O' Connor, as well as you…..Mandrake the Magician."
Mandrake and Lothar looked at the young lady in surprise.
"Amy did say that you had a similar acquaintances in Cathleen," Kshin spoke up.
"Cathleen is my mother," Amy chimed in.
"Well, that is a surprise," Mandrake replied, "How is she?"
"I don't know," Amy shrugged, "I haven't seen her since I was a baby, except for the occasional visions, but in real life, I've been living in foster care my whole life. I was trying to figure out why she left and she mentioned you, so I figured I'd start here."
So Cathleen was still missing. She had been in hiding since after she attacked MacLeod's friends in Paris four years ago. Now, things were getting more mysterious. After Cathleen had left for the first time, fourteen years ago, she must have gotten pregnant, and hence, the young lady right here.
"How old are you, dear?" Mandrake asked.
"Fourteen," Amy answered.
Mandrake and Lothar looked at each other. The possibility of the young lady being a connection to himself and Cathleen and she was standing right here.
Kshin looked confused, "What's going on here?"
"Can you head to your room, Kshin?" Mandrake asked, "I'd like to talk to Amy for a little bit privately."
"All right," Kshin shrugged before he left the room.
"What about your father, Amy?" Mandrake asked, "Did your mother ever mention him?"
"No," Amy shook her head, "But I do have a few questions."
"So do I," Mandrake replied in a strange voice, "I'd be happy to tell you that you will be a guest at our home for awhile. My friend Lothar and I have known Cathleen for a long time. After we get a paternity test, we'll settle you in our mansion and introduce you to the rest of the Defenders of the Earth."
"Sounds great," Amy nodded.
"In the meantime, do you have anyone we should call?" Mandrake asked, "Perhaps, your foster parents."
"No," Amy shook her head, "I don't think that they're going to miss me."
"All righty," Mandrake replied, "At least the authorities should be called to let them know about your whereabouts, young lady."
"I suppose that sounds fair," Amy replied.
"If you'll excuse us a minute," Mandrake told his possible daughter.
"Of course," Amy nodded.
With that, Mandrake and Lothar walked over to a corner of the room.
"Could it be?" Mandrake asked once Amy was out of earshot.
"Well, she does look a lot like Cathleen but you also have dark hair and blue eyes," Lothar answered, "and the timing would be fitting too. A paternity test sounds like a good move here."
"I agree," Mandrake replied, "I cannot believe this. If Cathleen really had walked away all those years ago, never telling me she was carrying my child, I have forgiven her for a lot of things over the years, but this…..I don't think I could forgive her for."

Mandrake and Amy looked at each other as they were at the doctor's office. This would be the place where they find out if Amy is the daughter of Mandrake the Magician, just like she was Cathleen's daughter.
"Well, what do we have here today?" the doctor asked as he entered the office.
"We suspect that this young lady might be daughter," Mandrake answered.
"So, you are here for a DNA test?" the doctor asked.
"Yes," Mandrake nodded, "That would be the case."
"Okay," the doctor nodded before getting the stuff needed for the DNA tests, "Let's begin then, shall we?"
-Worlds-Dangers-Collide-
Amy sat at the room nervously. Mandrake was sitting next to him. They had finished the DNA tests a little while ago and after some lunch, they were called back for the long awaited results.
They looked up as the doctor entered the room.
"So, what's the news, doctor?" Mandrake inquired.
"It's a girl," the doctor answered, "Amy O' Connor is your daughter."
Amy smiled as she sighed with relief, "So, what happens now?"
"What happens, my dear," Mandrake announced, "You will be living with me now, and I will introduce you to the rest of the team: the Defenders of the Earth."
Amy smiled with anticipation, preparing herself for the new chapter in her life.
-Worlds-Dangers-Collide-
Amy followed her father as they made their way to Monitor. It didn't take the Defenders too long to set up a new monitor after their old one was destroyed in Central City by the witch Zorelda.
She looked to see a blonde man in red, a young blonde woman wearing red as well, a young man with reddish blonde hair; then she saw a man wearing a purple suit with his mask and a young lady with dark, raven hair; then Amy saw A muscular black man with his son wearing a green jacket and finally, she saw the young Asian boy she saw when she first came here.
"So is Amy your daughter, Mandrake?" the Asian boy asked.
"Yes, Kshin," Mandrake answered, "That means she is also your big sister."
Mandrake glanced at Amy before eyeing the rest of the team, "Allow me to introduce you to the team, Amy."
Amy looked on excited and anticipating her new life with the Defenders of the Earth.
