Chapter 172
The Cats Meow
Continuation:
Jeremy is still thinking about whether or not he wants to leave.
Meanwhile, the day moves nicely into the afternoon. The time now is 1:30.
Jeremy decides to finally tell the rest of his friends about what's going on with him.. He contacts them by phone because well you know his computer is totally toast.
Twenty minutes pass.
Nakia, Zelda, Ryan, Kimberly and Chet show up at the old weather station to talk about what Jeremy had told them.. Ryan, Kimberly and Chet are all wearing conservative clothing with respects to their Ranger colors and Nakia along with Zelda are wearing the same thing they had on earlier.
Zelda sighs when she looks directly at the burnt out computer and rests upon the side of the table near the door.
Zelda-I can't believe it. It's gone.
Jeremy nods his head.
Zelda-And now you want to leave.
Jeremy-It's not that. Well kind of.
Nakia adds.
Nakia-I don't blame you. And if this is your chance to leave.. I say take it. But you won't go without us throwing you a big celebration.
Ryan says.
Ryan-That's right Jeremy.. You do deserve it.
Chet-Totally.
Kimberly-I couldn't agree more.
Joey-I say we throw the party of parties.
Zelda-You're right.
They all smile and chuckle..
Ryan-We'll miss ya, but you know.. We'll manage with Princess Ariel's help.
Jeremy-I know.
Nakia-I'll go pick up some party supplies.
Kimberly-I'll help you.
Zelda-Me too.
Nakia-Okay.
Ryan-And I'll pick a spot to throw the party.
Nakia-Why not the juice bar Ryan?
Ryan-It's possible. I'll ask them.
Jeremy-Thanks guys. But this is way too much.
Nakia-Oh nonsense. You deserve it.
Jeremy smiles heavily.
Nakia, Zelda and Kimberly leave.. But not without Ryan that is.. He ends up taking them to the mall and drops them off.. He'll be back within an hour to pick them up. As they walk through the stores.. Kimberly says.
Kimberly-Nice turn of events isn't it?
Nakia responds.
Nakia-Yeah.. But hey I don't think Jeremy wants to stay behind a computer forever.
Kimberly-I know.
Zelda-I'm happy for him.
Nakia-Ok let's pick out some really nice stuff. Lots of supplies.
Kimberly-Allright.
The girls make it to the party supply store where they see lots of things.. From paper plates with cool designs, to crazy party games.
Nakia says.
Nakia-Ok let's get a cart and start shopping.
Zelda and Kimberly-Right!
They go over to the side entrance area to get a cart.. There they see Kaitlynn, she's looking through a few cards in the card section. She's wearing a long pink and white dress, with black boots and a jacket. Zelda says to her.
Zelda-Kaitlynn, hi!
Kaitlynn looks up from reading one of the cards and responds.
Kaitlynn-Hey Zelda.. Hi Kim.
Kim responds.
Kimberly-Hi Kaitlynn.
They go over to her with the cart.
Zelda-What you looking for? A get well card or something?
Kaitlynn-Kind of.
Zelda notices the look on Kaitlynn's face which alarms her to suspect something.
Zelda-Okay Kaitlynn.. What's going on?
Kaitlynn-Well. I came here because I'm leaving.
Kimberly asks.
Kimberly-What?
Kaitlynn-I'm leaving Terra Falls with Mike.
Zelda asks with concern.
Zelda-Are you sure you want to do this?
Kaitlynn-Yes I'm sure.
Kimberly-You barely know him.
Kaitlynn-I do know him.
Zelda-You don't know him really.
Kaitlynn-I know enough of him.
Kimberly-You really should think this through Kaitlynn before making any major decision like leaving with him.
Kaitlynn-Look I have thought about it.. I knew you all would try to convince me of otherwise that's why I came here, to find something to explain why I want to leave with him.
Zelda-Kaitlynn. We're friends and we're really concerned about this.
Kaitlynn-I understand your concern but you don't have to worry about me.. I have been talking to Mike for a very long time over the computer.. And I feel he's the guy for me.
Zelda-Are you sure?
Kaitlynn-I've never been so sure in my life.
Zelda-Okay. I guess there's nothing we can say or do to make you change your mind.. But will you at least come to the party we're giving Jeremy?
Kaitlynn-Why are you giving him a party? Is it his birthday?
Kimberly responds to that.
Kimberly-No, Jeremy is leaving too.
Kaitlynn-Where's he going?
Zelda-We don't know yet. So will you come?
Kaitlynn-Sure. I'll come.
Zelda-That's great! That way you'll have a farewell celebration with something other than sending us a card.
Kaitlynn-Okay.
The girls notice another girl who looks like she's an employee snatch a broom from close by.. She's 5'3, Caucasian, she has semi long caramel colored hair that's kind of curly looking, blue eyes, and an athletic build. She has on a pink sweater with a picture id on it, a pair of white jeans and black low heeled shoes. They see her shoo out a couple of wandering cats.. She says.
Amanda-Oh I can't believe this.. How can they let cats in a place like this! Ugh!
She continues to shoo them away.
The cats are stopped by a man wearing a long white lab coat.. He's 6'1, slender, and has a medium skinny build.
Zelda, Kimberly, Kaitlynn and Nakia watch him closely behind a large display because he looks kind of strange. His name? Professor Lionel Feliness.
He bends down to pick up the two cats.. Then looks up at the employee and says kind of like in a monotone way.
Professor Feliness-I'm sorry.. Miss. My cats got away from me. I'll be sure it doesn't happen again.
Amanda-That's okay. Why did you bring them here anyway? This is the mall.
Professor Feliness-I like to bring them here when I'm shopping for their food.
Amanda-But I think that's against the rules here.
He stands back up with his cats in arms.
Professor Feliness-This is the first time I actually brought them into the mall. You see.. I usually leave them in the car and have them pick out the type of food they want me to buy.
The employee says unwittingly.
Amanda-Uh okay.
Nakia whispers to her friends.
Nakia-What a weirdo.
Kaitlynn adds.
Kaitlynn-For real.
The professor speaks directly to Nakia which shocks them because they're hiding behind a large display.
Professor Feliness-I am not a weirdo.. I just love cats. Always have and I always will.
Nakia gasps and whispers even lower now.
Nakia-He heard me?
They all look at her shockingly. Zelda nods.
The employee says.
Amanda-Will you please leave now? I don't want more customers coming in here thinking this is a haven for cats.
The professor turns his attention back to her and says.
Professor Feliness-Yes I will go.. Thank you for not hurting my friends.
And now he leaves.
Zelda says.
Zelda-That was too weird.
Kimberly-Yeah. A man asking his cats what they want for dinner?
Nakia-It's funny if you think about it.
They come from behind the large display.. The girl walks back into the store and puts the broom away. She notices Nakia and the others and says.
Amanda-Strange guy..
Nakia-Very strange.
Amanda-I'm Amanda. Is there anything I can help you with?
Nakia-No, we already know what we want.
Amanda-Okay.
Looking stressed out now because of the cat event and the look of the strange guy, Amanda walks away saying.
Amanda-I wish they would hire a second person for this shift.. Ughh..
Zelda hears Amanda's words and walks over to her while the others continue to shop.
Zelda-You work here all by yourself?
Amanda-At this time yes.
Amanda walks behind the counter where the cash register sets upon.
Zelda-That's got to be rough on you.
Amanda-It is. It's very rough. But do they care? No they don't.
Zelda-That sucks.
Amanda-Yeah. I'm thinking about quitting. I don't want to run into anymore weirdoes like the one with those cats.
Zelda chuckles and remembers she hasn't introduced herself properly.
Zelda-I'm Zelda.
Amanda-Nice to meet you.. I'm Amanda.
Zelda-I know.. I heard you tell my friend Nakia.
Amanda-Oh.
Zelda-Are they looking for help around here?
Amanda-Not that I know of. Why? You want to fill out an application?
Zelda-Maybe. I think its time for me to work.
Amanda-Majorly cool. How old are you?
Zelda-I'm 17.
Amanda-Cool. I just turned 17.
Zelda-How long have you been working….
Her words are cut short due to a very high intensified warped meow ripping through the party store.. Amanda screams for a second because the meowing hits her and after about three seconds knocks her to the floor senseless.
Zelda screams out.
Zelda-AMANDA!
She turns to see a hairy looking beast leaping at her.. She stops it right in mid air and struggles to push it back.
Zelda-GET AWAY! UGHH!
Nakia, Kimberly and Kaitlynn hear Zelda's yells. They rush over to the spot where they see Zelda struggling.. Nakia yells out.
Nakia-WHAT IS THAT?!
Zelda doesn't answer.. Her hands glow pink which summons a high wind to appear and force the creature out of the store at great speed. People right outside of the store see the beast flying through and so they rush out of the mall screaming..
Zelda catches her breath and the pink glowing on her hands disappears.. Nakia asks her.
Nakia-You okay?
Zelda-Yeah.. But Amanda.. She's been knocked out.
Kaitlynn-Oh no. I'll call for an ambulance.
Kimberly-She can be teleported to the..
A loud shrieking meow fills the walls of the store, and this time it's a lot stronger.. The girls are all immediately flung everywhere.. They crash into several different parts of the store..
Nakia ends up all mixed in a pile of party hats, and favors.. She groans out weakly.
Nakia-Oh man.. That was really harsh.. I think it's time to morph.. Ughh!
Nakia gets up and slowly moves through the knocked down items.. She finally gets a clear view of the beast as it stands on its hind legs roaring fiercely.
Nakia-What.. A cat? Oh my goodness.
The cat beast is large, it's body is covered in a large thick orange fur, its eyes are shiny gold, and its claws are long and dangerously deadly.
It starts to meow out louder which causes the entire mall to violently shake.. Nakia covers her ears and says in pain.
Nakia-UGHHH! TOO MUCH!
She manages to find a large purple hat.. She says.
Nakia-Got to.. Shut.. That.. Thing.. Up!
She uncovers her ears and picks up the hat.. She then yells out right when she throws it like a Frisbee directly at the cat.
Nakia-SHUT UP!
The hat ends up in the cat's mouth.. It's choking, but at least the meowing sound has stopped.
Nakia says.
Nakia-Got to morph, now!
She materializes her morpher and raises her arm above her head and shouts out.
Nakia-LIGHTNING STORM POWER!
An essence of clouds appear.. Rumbling is heard and soon fierce lightning bolts shoot out from the clouds and strike Nakia's body into a yellow glow.. When the yellow glow disappears, Nakia is found to be the Yellow Lightning Storm Power Ranger.
Standing her ground, the Yellow Ranger looks directly at the cat who now pulls the hat out of its mouth and throws it away with no care. The Yellow Ranger says to the cat.
Yellow Ranger-Come on, I'll teach you to come in here and mess up this place!
The cat roars in anger.. The Yellow Ranger charges and so does the cat.. When they get close to each other.. The Yellow Ranger swings her right arm to hit the cat, but the cat blocks it by simply grabbing her arm.. She then yanks it free and turns around to deliver a high turn around kick but the cat dodges it and ends up in a lower position that allows it to knock the Yellow Ranger on her back.
Yellow Ranger-UUUGHH!
The Yellow Ranger quickly gets back on her feet.. She says to the cat.
Yellow Ranger-Oh you're going down now!
The cat charges.. And the Yellow Ranger just stands there as if she doesn't care what's happening.. But she does care.. And she proves that nicely.. The cat gets close enough so that when the Yellow Ranger lifts up her right leg, her boot starts to glow yellow, she then yells out as she gives the cat a strong side kick to its face.
Yellow Ranger-THUNDER KICK!
When the Yellow Ranger's boot strikes the cat's face, the sound of thunder is heard greatly.. The cat starts to meow but very weak like because the power from the Yellow Ranger's kick detaches its head and sends it rolling on the items the cat knocked down earlier.. Now, the body of the cat slowly falls on to its back..
The Yellow Ranger puts down her leg and looks around for her friends.. She asks.
Yellow Ranger-Zelda, Kim, Kaitlynn.. Where are you?!
Zelda says from behind the counter.
Zelda-We're over here.
The Yellow Ranger follows Zelda's voice and finds them.
Yellow Ranger-You all okay?
Zelda-Yeah. We were trying to wake up Amanda.
Kaitlynn asks.
Kaitlynn-What were you fighting?
Yellow Ranger-Some big cat.. It's gone now.
Kimberly-Good.
Princess Ariel contacts Ryan, Joey and Chet telepathically to warn them of the danger at the mall.
Back at the mall, they do think things are okay now.. But behind the Yellow Ranger.. The body of the cat lifts itself up and begins searching for its head. When it finds it, it puts it back on and roars out in fury.. The Yellow Ranger turns and says out loud.
Yellow Ranger-OH NO!
Zelda says.
Zelda-We're going to morph to help you.
Yellow Ranger-No, that's Allright.. I'll deal with this terrible feline myself.. You watch over Amanda.
Zelda-Okay.
Kimberly protests.
Kimberly-Nakia I'm not going to let you fight that thing alone..
The Yellow Ranger says.
Yellow Ranger-Just hold up a minute. I still have a trick up my Ranger sleeve.. I'll tell you if I need help.
Kimberly starts to say something but the Yellow Ranger stops her.
Yellow Ranger-I'll be Allright.. Just watch over Amanda.
Kimberly finally accepts the Yellow Ranger's words..
Now, the cat charges again by leaping towards the Yellow Ranger one step at a time.. But she's not going to back down.. She says to it.
Yellow Ranger-Come on!
She gets down on bended knee and raises both of her fists as they glow powerfully yellow. She says to herself directed at the cat as it continues to leap towards her.
Yellow Ranger-That's right.. Come on, you ugly deformed cat reject!
When the cat lands on the ground filled items that fell.. The Yellow Ranger quickly punches the ground as she says.
Yellow Ranger-LIGHTNING DOUBLE PUNCH!
The power from her glowing fists sends a charge of powerful electrical currents that strike the cat so much it has no choice but to stop.. It screams out in meows but doesn't blow up completely.. In fact the only thing that does blow up, is its left eye.. And the force from that sends it flying out of the store once again. It ends up crashing into another store which is kind of a ways away from the party store where you can hear the people screaming out.
The Yellow Ranger stands back up and catches her breath..
Yellow Ranger-I know that thing isn't destroyed..
Just then, the Red, Blue and Black Rangers come charging into the store.. The Yellow Ranger looks at them and says.
Yellow Ranger-A little late boys!
The Red Ranger says.
Red Ranger-I'm sorry babe.
Yellow Ranger-It's okay.. How'd you know about the trouble here anyway?
The Blue Ranger responds to that one.
Blue Ranger-Princess Ariel.
Yellow Ranger-Ohhh.. Yeah.
Black Ranger-Where's the trouble? Judging by the look of this place.. Not too far away.
Yellow Ranger-It's gone.. It flew out of here.
The Red Ranger asks.
Red Ranger-What was it?
Yellow Ranger-A giant cat monster.
Red Ranger-Oh jeez. Here we go again.
Yellow Ranger-I think maybe we'd better search just to make sure it's gone.
Blue Ranger-Good idea.
They hear a weak meow like growl coming from behind them.. And so they turn to see the messed up looking cat falling on its side.. The Black Ranger comments on its missing eye.
Black Ranger-Eww man, it only has one eye.
Yellow Ranger-Yeah, I knocked it out.
Red Ranger-Cool move babe.
The cat's body starts to disappear.
Yellow Ranger-Look it's disappearing!
Finally when it's gone.. The Blue Ranger asks.
Blue Ranger-Where did it come from.. I wonder.
Yellow Ranger-Let's just hope it doesn't come back.
Amanda wakes up.. And finds out the store has been totally trashed.. Her boss shows up right after the Yellow, Red, Black and Blue Rangers demorphed and totally gets upset at the scene.. Zelda, Kimberly and Kaitlynn tell Amanda's boss that it wasn't her fault.. Yet he doesn't listen.. He simply tells Amanda, she's fired.
They all leave the store as Amanda's boss shouts out in pure anger.
Meanwhile, in a beautiful looking white house that has three stories within it and a lab in the basement.. Actually there are two labs.. One is the base lab, and the other is the working lab We go to the base lab where you can see many things.. Bleakers filled with strange looking liquids, lab tables that have many books, and other things on them.. Cabinets with many different types of specimens that are actually too many to name right now. And an all around dark surrounding. A black desk that is located in front of many tv like screens.. And someone is sitting in a leather black chair behind the desk.. The chair however is turned towards the blank screens.
A cat can been seen slightly on the left side of the chair as you move frontward.. There you see a hand stroking the cat's fur. Blood can been seen now slowly dripping down on the left side of the one stroking the cat.. When it hit's the cat, it meows and jumps out of the chair.. Now as you go up.. You see.. The same man who had the cats in the mall.. Only.. He has one eye now.. His right eye.. He starts chuckling in the most evil way.. And the last thing you hear him say before everything fades to black is.. Meow.
