Hey there, my fellow writers and readers. I wish you all the best with your stories. Well, here's the next chapter of "Patience". I hope you like reading it as much as I did writing it.
Three thirty in the morning
Not a soul in sight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for a miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That has kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
~Garth Brooks, The Thunder Rolls
Pushing open the computer lab doors, Hawk walked inside and through the hallway; sounding almost similar to those movie villains who were searching for the main protagonist or the protagonist's love interest, he called, "Melissss-aaaa! I know you're in here! Figured you'd be hiding in the computer lab, my dear girl!"
Hearing his voice, Melissa closed her eyes and waited until his footsteps had passed by her and she was positively sure the coast was clear. After she'd opened her eyes, she lifted her head up and peeked through a window in the dark room where the lights were off; through the glass, she saw him look through the window of one locked door and pull at the knob before hearing him say, "I'm coming for you!" and going to another door.
Her heart beating so fast she thought it would snap off from whatever was holding it in place, she then got to her feet, taking some quiet, deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself down.
But, as she mentally prepared herself to leave the empty classroom, she suddenly felt a cold chill run down her spine while simultaneously getting that well-known feeling that she wasn't alone.
Someone has slipped into in the computer lab and is here with me. And I have a pretty good idea of who it could be too..
Nice feedback is highly appreciated, of course.. 😁
