The noise of footsteps echoed through the Thorndyke Manor, a grand but somewhat foreboding structure in the heart of Station Square. San, the young and fierce Wolf Princess, walked up behind Yami Yugi, her eyes flashing with a dangerous light. She was dressed in her usual outfit, the metal guard on her left elbow glinting in the moonlight. The air around her was thick with tension, and the Gobbos, the small brown creatures with their own unique cultures, scurried away in fear.
"The Hell are you doing?" San yelled, her voice cutting through the calm night.
Yami Yugi, standing on the balcony overlooking the garden, flinched slightly but did not turn around. His crimson eyes, usually filled with determination, now held a hint of sadness. "Protecting Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos," he replied, his voice steady but tinged with fatigue.
San's eyes narrowed. "Well, stop. It's annoying to hear you are protecting Chris, Tifa, and Sherry all the time. You act like you're their savior, but you're just a shadow."
Yami Yugi's grip on the balcony railing tightened. "Why are you still here? You are the one who is trying to pit Chris, Tifa, and Sherry against each other despite everything. I know what you want, San."
San's expression darkened. "I like the hatred towards Chris Thorndyke. I like the bad days for him. I want to keep reminding you of what you did."
Yami Yugi's voice was firm. "I know what I did. I would feel bad if I hurt Chris, but we both know I didn't do that. You are working for Seto Kaiba, and you are trying to destroy the family Chris is building with Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos. I can't stand by and let you do this anymore. I want you to leave them alone. Now."
San's eyes blazed with fury. "What do you mean, leave them alone?"
Yami Yugi's resolve was unshaken. "I mean now! Leave Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos alone. I am the heroic protector of Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos, and I will not let you destroy their happiness."
San took a step forward "How Dare You!"
San raised her hand to strike. "You know that-!" Before she could finish, Yami Yugi caught her hand, stopping it mid-air. "I don't care what my archnemesis thinks! The Strife family wants a happy family day, and it works. But you are trying to destroy the friendship between Sonic and Chris, and I'll protect Chris and Elise from you, San!"
San's hand trembled in his grip, and she stared at him with intense, silent rage. After a moment, she pulled her hand away, her eyes never leaving his. "Fine. I have no desire to stay in the place of a horrible Strife family. You have the hero of Chris's life with Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos, and I know you'll pay for it."
With that, she turned and walked away, her steps heavy and filled with a sense of finality. Yami Yugi watched her go, a mix of relief and concern washing over him. He then turned to look at Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos, who were all gathered in the living room, playing a PS4 game together. Tifa, with her steel collar and chain, smiled as Chris and Sherry laughed, and the Gobbos chirped happily.
"Don't worry, Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and Gobbos. I'll protect you from San," Yami Yugi murmured, a sense of purpose in his voice.
Tails and Chris's sister, Téa Gardner, approached Yami Yugi. Tails, with his usual optimism, patted Yami on the back. "You did the right thing, Yami Yugi."
Téa, ever supportive, gave him a warm smile. "You did awesome."
Yami Yugi nodded, feeling a weight lift from his shoulders. "I know."
In a moment of camaraderie, Tails and Téa Gardner pulled Yami Yugi into a group hug, grateful for his unwavering protection of their friends and family. The night was still, and the only sounds were those of laughter and joy from inside the manor, a stark contrast to the conflict that had just been averted.
Yami Yugi closed his eyes, savoring the moment. He knew that the road ahead would be fraught with challenges, but as long as he had the strength to protect those he cared about, he would face them head-on. For Chris, Tifa, Sherry, and the Gobbos, he would be the hero they needed.
