Prologue
The war was over. Red stood there motionless as he saw all the injured pokemon being treated around the battlefield by all the Nurse Joys. There were craters everywhere left behind by the hard battle. Some were filled with people. Others with pokemon. The air smelled of blood, and the smoke caused by all the explosions had made it hard to see what was happening in front of you. Amidst all the chaos Red had managed to separate from his best friend Blue, but he knew what Blue was capable of, and he knew no matter what, he had survived that battle he left him in. Well, he prayed he had survived the battle he left him in. Honestly, Red couldn't believe it was over, after so many years of hardships and pain, he had finally put a stop in this pointless battle. He had spent so much time training for this, so many years of his life dedicated to this cause, and now, he didn't know what to do.
As Red walked over to Azrael's lifeless body he couldn't help but feel shocked. Shocked that the man behind all this was really laying there, dead. Shocked that after all the pain and torture he caused, all the Pokemon he hurt, he fell just like anyone else would. And shocked because despite everything he did, at the end of the day, Red believes that no one deserves death.
Suddenly all the adrenaline from the battle left his body and the shock from seeing Azreal's lifeless body got to him, as Red began to fall to his knees he yelled. "Oh Arceus! Why did it have to go this far! We could've saved him, there had to have been another way. Why did so many innocent people and pokemon need to suffer? We could've saved him." No longer being able to control his emotions Red began to sob uncontrollably on the ground until suddenly a ray of light came from the storm clouds above.
Slowly descending from the sky was what seemed to be a pokemon. And not just any pokemon, it was the one labeled as God. The one who created the entire universe. That pokemon was Arceus, creator of all people and pokemon. And as he looked up at the floating deity before him Red heard a voice in his head.
"I'm sorry for your pain my child, for I know how hard this burden was for you to bear." Red couldn't find the words to say and so Arceus continued. "I know this wound is fresh and I have yet given you time to celebrate your victory, but I have an important message." Red nodded to show he was ready to hear it as he wiped his tearstains away.
"Red. You have served the world well and have managed to stop the forces of evil that were plaguing it and now thanks to you, peace will come." At these words Red smiled but Arceus continued. "However, there will come a day that this peace will end and a force much stronger than the one you and your friends faced will try and destroy everything."
With these words Reds smile faded and he finally mustered up the strength to talk. "Lord Arceus, but how is that possible? We cut all the tides that could lead to something like this happening. We stopped Azreal...we...we ended the war." Red couldn't believe that after everything a worse catastrophe than this war could really happen.
Arceus floated down to the boy and put his head against Reds. "Red, I'm truly sorry, if I could take all the pain away I would, but you know why I cannot. Now I need you to listen to me closely. Your job now is to keep this peace for as long as you can. The dark forces are stirring but that is something to come in the far future for now you may just rest. I don't think there's anyone out there who deserves that more than you right now. Except maybe Blue." The God and boy chuckled at that small remark. Suddenly Red jerked up but as if reading his mind Arceus replied. "Blue is alive, wounded, but alive." Red breathed a sigh of relief. "Now I must go, Red please remember this. There will come a boy whose cheer will and love will conquer all, and he alone will be the one who finally brings the world to eternal peace. Show him the ropes, train him, make sure he's ready. Fore the chosen one has a path ahead of him that will be even harder than yours. Goodbye Red, until we meet again."
As Red watched Arceus ascend back into the clouds he felt something begin to appear in his hand, and as he looked down, he realized Arceus had left a gift. A necklace in the shape of his rings, which Red only guessed was probably something he had left behind for his chosen one. As the necklace glowed in his hand, he couldn't help but wonder about what was to come. Well, at least one thing was certain, whoever this chosen one is, he is one hell of an unlucky guy to end up having a harder path than him. Man...may Arceus help us all.
