"I didn't do it!" Vi exclaimed at the scary officer as she cowered in place.
She was terrified.
Why did these officers arrest her?
Why were they accusing her of setting Caitlyn's house on fire?
Why wasn't anyone telling her that she was okay!
"Arson is a very serious crime, young lady. You almost killed someone, a councilwoman's daughter at that! Do you realize what you've done?"
"What? I didn't do anything!" Vi insisted as her voice cracked. She wanted to cry. What was happening? "One second, I was going home, the next I saw smoke coming from Caitlyn's room! I ran back and saw flames from her window, so I climbed in and helped her. That's all, why do you keep blaming me for the fire!"
"Look here, kid, someone needs to take responsibility. There's no reason for a fire to magically start. The only outlier is you. Why were you at the Kiramman Mansion?" He slammed the table, making Vi jump. "What were you planning? Why were you there?"
"I-I…" She fell back in her seat and gripped her fingers tightly. She wasn't going to confess to something she didn't do. She knew better than to be harassed by some officer.
That's when someone knocked on the door.
Another officer walked in before whispering into her interrogator's ear. After a second, he let out a sigh before drumming his fingers on the table. Once the other officer was dismissed, he looked at Vi again before starting.
"We've been told a little girl, about ten, was found near the Kiramman Mansion. Blue hair, ring any bells?"
Vi twitched.
"She said something about needing to talk to her sister. Something about apologizing for the mess and that this wasn't supposed to happen. Anything come to mind now?"
What?
What the hell did that mean?
Did Powder… no, she couldn't have.
That didn't make sense.
"Just saying, kid, confessing lightens the sentence. Prison doesn't sit well with ten-year-olds, either. I'm sure you know what's a better option."
Vi wanted to throw up. She was sick to her stomach, and she swallowed before speaking with a shaky breath. "I need to talk to my sister."
It was safe to say, Vi lost her only flesh and blood that day.
That dumbfounding conversation was the last one she had with Powder. Apparently, her sister had started a fire in an attempt to get her away from Caitlyn because she missed movie night with her. It was supposed to be a small one, but things quickly got out of hand and erupted into a bad one. She would admit, she hadn't been the greatest sister because she'd spend time with Caitlyn as much as possible, but she still made time for Powder for all the important ones.
She didn't understand how and why her sister could do that.
She didn't understand why she was the reason Caitlyn almost died.
No, maybe she was dead. She just didn't want to believe it, but no one would fucking tell her anything. She was mad that nothing was going her way and hated herself for what she was about to do. By the time she went back inside the interrogation room, her head hung low as she fidgeted in her seat. The officer sat across her before tapping the table again.
"So… is there anything you'd like to say?"
Vi took a few labored breaths before starting. "I…"
"And that's basically what happened," Vi said for the first time out loud.
She knew her story sounded ridiculous coming from her mouth, but she said it. She finally said it for the first time in ten years. Hell, she smiled to herself when she recalled seeing Caitlyn inside that cell for the first time in ten years. She would never mistake her for someone else. At first, she was shocked by how much she had changed, but happiness quickly filled the void in her chest after all these years.
She was alive.
She was alive.
Even if she didn't recognize her, she was alive, and that's all Vi needed to cure part of her wounded heart. The conversation that followed, though, quickly brought out all the worst and hate she had for Piltover. She took it out on her, and it wasn't her greatest moment, but with how she had lived her life up until now, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. She picked at the scab on her thumb before eyeing the stain on the carpet floor.
She wasn't sure if Caitlyn would believe her, let alone trust her.
Vi knew that she sounded crazy. She never expected anyone to take her side. She had been alone for the majority of her life, so what if Caitlyn didn't believe her? What would she even do if she knew the truth? The damage had already been done, and nothing could fix what happened to her in the past ten years.
Caitlyn's mouth parted, and a wave of guilt flashed through her eyes. It took a second for her to collect her thoughts, but once it did, she spoke in a pained voice. "Violet… that's…" Her eyes glimmered as a frown hung on her face. "That's horrible." The shock in her voice was apparent. "Your sister started the fire?" And there was the shock. "I—" Her face contorted in anger before she spoke in an angered voice. "They coerced you into confessing to a crime you didn't commit? Violet, why didn't you tell me?"
She couldn't help but scoff. "You don't think I tried?" She finally forced herself to look up and face Caitlyn. "I sent letters, you know that?"
"What—? But I never received any…"
She scoffed again. "Didn't think you would. Your mother made certain that I stayed far away from you. Besides, you never reached out to me."
"You don't think I tried!" Caitlyn exclaimed out of the blue. "I was stuck in a hospital bed for months, Violet, months. It took me forever to recover from my wounds and pass therapy. Then, once I was out, my parents forbade me from leaving the house and learning about the incident. By the time I finally learned what you had supposedly done and that you were going to be released, I managed to sneak out, only to find that you were gone!"
She took a step closer before lashing out at her.
"Do you know how it feels to be left in the dark, Violet?" She looked as if she was holding back her tears. "I wanted to talk to you. I needed to talk to you, but you were gone! You left me without a single word!"
Vi gave her a sad yet sympathetic smile. "It goes both ways, Caitlyn." She turned away to look away from her face. "It doesn't matter, though. The damage has been done. Oil and water, that's all we'll ever be to each other."
Caitlyn flattered in place before lowering her head. Emotions washed over and she turned away. "I… I need a moment." She walked away before shutting the door on her.
Shaking her head softly, Vi ran her hand through her hair as her eyes wavered. "Yeah… so do I, Cait."
xXx
Sniffling to herself, Caitlyn wiped away some tears before clearing her throat. She made her way over to the cafeteria before randomly grabbing some fruit and fiddling around with it. Eventually, she rolled her neck, trying to loosen up the stiffness in her neck, before grabbing an apple and turning around. She began twisting it in her hand, eyeing the blemishes, before turning it all the way around. It was spotless and perfect on this side, compared to the back with some unripened skin and a bruise.
Her thoughts wavered as she thought about Vi's revelation.
If Vi was telling the truth, something unforgivable had happened. She would have been unjustly convicted as a child, and the thought of that only made her blood boil. How could anyone sentence a child to prison? Caitlyn always thought it was strange, but she didn't question it as a child. She only learned to question it once she was in the police academy, but with how busy she was, it slipped her mind what Vi would have gone through.
She felt awful.
She ended up walking around the motel, taking in the blueprint and possibly useful information to kill time. By the time Caitlyn had time to process what she had learned, she tried thinking about what to say to Vi but drew blank. Her feet took her back to their room, and she eyed their door before letting out a sigh. She hadn't quite figured out what to say but facing her would be a start. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Vi lying down on the bed. She then walked inside before shutting the door quietly and walking closer.
"Vi…?"
"Hmm?" She sounded exhausted, and Caitlyn remembered her episode from last night.
"Are you okay…? I brought you an apple."
Vi turned and spared her a glance. "Thanks, that's sweet of you, Cupcake, but I'm good. Just tired… that's all." She then sat up with a grunt. "Sorry, did you want the bed back?"
Caitlyn quickly shook her head. "No, I'm fine. Take it, you need it more than me."
"But you paid for it." She slid to the edge, "Not mine to begin with."
A frown grew on Caitlyn's face before she insisted. "Please take it, Violet. If you really feel bad, we can just share it. It's big enough for the both of us."
What was she saying?
It was barely noon, so what was this sleep talk?
Vi shot her a tired smile. "If you say so." She laid back down before covering her eyes. "I'm just… gonna take a quick nap." She breathed out a heavy breath. "I'm tired, Cait…"
Caitlyn's heart throbbed. Vi had only addressed her by her name once since they ran into each other, let alone by her nickname. She hadn't heard it in more than ten years. She smiled bitterly before agreeing. "Me too, Vi. Me too…" She then had the guts to sit down next to her.
The bed dipped from her weight, but Vi didn't move. Shortly after, she heard her soft breathing and Caitlyn leaned in closer. She admired how beautiful Vi was, sleeping on her side, before brushing aside a strand of hair from her face. She did look tired. Exhausted really and Caitlyn found herself lying down next to her. It reminded her of their childhood and how they would lie down on her bed, talking about silly things and stories. She curled inward before brushing the back of her hand on Vi's cheek.
"I missed you dearly, Violet…"
xXx
Vi doesn't remember the last time she had a good night's rest.
She was always on the go, plagued by nightmares or ready to run. That was the type of life she lived, on guard, trying not to get stabbed or shot in her sleep. If she was lucky, then she'd get three consecutive hours of sleep and five if the world didn't hate her so much.
She always expected the worst.
Today was no exception however, when she cracked her eyes open, she was reminded of a fragment of her past. Just like the times she took a nap with Caitlyn in her room, on her cozy bed, she would be lying across from her, just within arm's reach. She saw Caitlyn's young self and her deep blue eyes.
When her own eyes finally focused, she realized that she still felt like shit. That wasn't abnormal, but what was different was that she woke up in Caitlyn's arms. Not quite in her face, but close enough that if she leaned forward, her lips would be right there. She froze, confused by this situation however, before she could start, Caitlyn spoke up.
"Sorry… you were having nightmares, so I just…"
Her eyes wavered, so Vi just shut her eyes. She buried her face into the mattress and curled inward. Caitlyn shifted in place before carefully wrapping her arm around her body. She pulled her in closely and her warmth was comforting. Her scent was soothing. It always had been, she just never admitted it out loud.
She was too embarrassed to and, as a teen, too ashamed to.
She was afraid to find out what a Piltie would think if she found out that a Zaunite fell for them. The difference in their social class didn't help either. How could it? Not when Caitlyn's room was bigger than her entire house. She grew up knowing her place in the world, and just being with Caitlyn felt like a dream.
Hell, maybe this was a horrible dream she wasn't waking up from.
Caitlyn wouldn't be here. She wouldn't be there for her. She had no reason to. Vi fell asleep again. The next time she woke up, she found herself pressed up against something warm. No, pressed up against someone. At first, she thought it was some dream, but their scent was too comforting for that. She then thought it was a random one-night stand she didn't remember thanks to drugs, but then when she tried pulling away, she was stuck.
She tried getting away a little harder, practically hurting from the warmth.
Perhaps she finally overdosed on shimmer. She remembered hallucinations being one of the side effects, and she remembered tripping really badly that one time. Her eyebrows twitched when she realized this situation wasn't improving. Her eyes must have been playing tricks on her because she swore she was Caitlyn was gingerly hugging her as if they were lovers.
Too intimate, in fact.
Vi finally had enough and actively pushed her away. Her brain was finally catching up to speed, and she wanted nothing more than to get away from her. She needed to pull away. She didn't need burdensome chains to keep her in this city any longer. Not when this city was no longer a place she would call home.
Her shit apartment wasn't exactly a place she'd call home, either.
Nothing was waiting for her except a cold bed and a case of beer in the fridge. However, Caitlyn was surprisingly stronger than she looked. She had a tight grip on her, and she grumbled before speaking in a tired whisper.
"It's okay, Violet… I'm right here. You can breathe…" She breathed in a few times, clearly talking in her sleep, and Vi's heart skipped a beat.
Her jaw tightened, and she didn't know what to do. If this kept up then she'd…
xXx
Caitlyn twitched before cracking her eyes open. She didn't mean to fall asleep. Vi was plagued by nightmares, so she did her best to soothe her. Hugging her and cooing into her ear seemed like the most effective way of calming her down. It was more intimate than she'd like, but she couldn't leave her alone.
Not when Vi needed help.
When Caitlyn finally roused properly, she realized that Vi was no longer stirring thanks to her nightmare. It was because she was awake and she froze. What should she do? How was she going to explain herself for their situation?
They made eye contact.
Vi's lips parted, and so did Caitlyn's. They looked each other in the eye and before Caitlyn could react, Vi leaned up and claimed her lips. She twitched and electricity shot down her body. She knew it was wrong. She knew it but she gave in to her intrusive thoughts. She kissed back with equal fiery and need and god, did it feel so good, like a forbidden fruit she should have never touched.
Vi's skin burned hers, and she couldn't stop herself from whatever was happening. Her body was out of control, and she hated herself for how amazing and right this kiss felt. They both moaned, and Caitlyn wasn't sure who it came from. All she knew was that Vi wanted her as much as she did now.
It wasn't a surprise when Vi flipped her over and straddled her hips.
Her hands quickly found her hips and their kiss grew more desperate and frantic. It was as if this was the last day on earth, and they were trying to make up for all the time they lost. Vi moaned as she sucked on her lower lip. She then bit her upper one before trailing the tip of her tongue down her neck.
Caitlyn's breath hitched.
Her clit throbbed and Vi began peppering kisses on her skin and the lower she got, the more labored her breathing grew. She was dangerously aroused, and her lower region ached before she twitched when Vi grabbed the rim of her shirt. Fear washed over her, and she quickly snatched Vi's wrist out of panic.
"Wait— I…" She looked down to meet Vi's eyes and her eyes wavered before she started, "My scars are… they aren't pretty."
It had been one of her deeply rooted insecurities ever since she was little. What happens when you get terribly burned. Every time she had gotten intimate with someone, they always found her scars repulsive or disgusting. Hell, she even saw herself that way, and it took years for her not to hate her own skin.
Vi stared at her in silence before ignoring her warning and kissing her neck. Caitlyn twitched as her breath hitched. She shivered when Vi's hand started to wander and sure enough, Vi began pulling her shirt up. She bit down, trying to fight back the urge to push her away, spare Vi the trauma of looking at her scarred skin.
It was disgusting.
Textured, malformed, rough, nothing pretty to it. So… when Vi stripped her bare from the waist up, she braced herself for the worst. There was a pregnant pause of silence. Caitlyn couldn't open her eyes, afraid of seeing the disgust on Vi's face and the repulsiveness in her eyes. She wanted to hide. She regretted hugging Violet and allowing them to get this intimate. However, Vi stunned her by her words.
"You're beautiful…"
Her eyes snapped open in shock, and Caitlyn looked Vi in the eyes.
She didn't see what she had feared in Vi's eyes. Her face looked honest and sincere and for the first time in Caitlyn's life, she wanted to cry. Vi's fingertips ran down the left side of her torso, along her patchy skin. She started from the top, right at the start of her rib cage, and slowly trailed it down to her hip bone. Vi touched her as if she were precious art and not some hideous monster.
She really wanted to cry.
Vi leaned down and kissed her neck again before sitting up to take off her own clothes. She quickly took her top off, and Caitlyn's eyes widened when she saw Vi's bare chest. She didn't know where to react, but Vi chose for her. She grabbed her hand, bringing it up to her tatted skin before landing on some scar on her stomach. Her fingers found her jagged skin before Vi spoke up.
"Stabbed here about a year ago." She then pressed her palm flush against her skin before dragging it up past her breast, to the uneven surface of her collarbone. "Fell off a beam and landed wrong three years back." She brought her hands to her lips before kissing the inside of her palm. "You're not the only one with scars, Cupcake."
Caitlyn was starting to see that. Vi had more scars than she could have imagined, and she wondered how painful that deep scar down her middle must have hurt. Vi finally took off her bra before leaning down and claiming her lips. Caitlyn quickly reciprocated the kiss, and they repeatedly pecked each other's lips in a heated frenzy.
Moaning into the kiss, Caitlyn couldn't help but hug Vi desperately. She longed for her touch for years, and something about holding Vi in her arms made her feel at peace. Her hands ran up and down her broad and muscular back before she eventually ran her hand through her hair, tangling her fingers with her black locks. She moaned again when Vi slipped her tongue into her mouth before raking her scalp with her nails.
Vi hummed into their kiss before awkwardly undoing their belts. She managed to undo both of them before shimmying off their pants. It took a hot second, but she managed to do so without breaking from their kiss. Her hand quickly found her leg and Vi groped her thigh before settling in between her legs. Shortly after, she pressed her knee up against her core.
Caitlyn's breath hitched, and she pulled away from their kiss with a wet pop before staring. "Wait, Violet, I—"
Vi silenced her with a kiss.
She melted right into it and the second Vi started rocking her body, Caitlyn knew it was game over. The breathing grew more desperate and frantic as time passed. They were heavily panting as they rubbed against each other, and Caitlyn found herself grinding her hips into Vi's leg. She almost cried out loud in shock the second Vi cupped her pussy. Her fingers swirled around her wet folds, and Caitlyn's breath hitched when she began playing with her clit.
Caitlyn was painfully aware of how wet she was, embarrassed really, and she pressed her face into Vi's neck, trying to hide herself. Her knees pulled back, and her back lifted off the bed. A foreign high was building up in her belly, and she gasped for air as Vi pumped her fingers in and out. She hadn't even been aware that Vi even penetrated her but she could hear how terribly wet she was.
"Violet—" She gasped into her skin, "Vi—"
Her mind blanked out after that.
From there, everything went downhill. Vi slotted herself in between her legs. They fit like a match puzzle piece, but what really destroyed her was when Vi began thrusting her hips. Their vulvae rocked together, and she could hear how erotic they were. How wet Vi was. Her soft grunts only spurred her on.
Pleasure was an understatement of how amazing this felt.
All she could focus on was how amazing Vi felt against her body. How right it felt to have her pressed against her skin and how perfect their bodies were in sync. She never imagined sex would turn out like this, and she especially never thought she'd be doing it with Violet.
They were both a panting and shaky mess by the time they were exhausted. Caitlyn was lying on top of Vi's chest, trying to catch her breath as she processed what they had just done. She was both in shock and in awe by what took place , and she didn't know where to start.
Vi groaned before shifting slightly and pulling the blanket up over her shoulder. "Fuck… that was… amazing."
Caitlyn shifted, acutely aware of the wetness scattered across her skin and coating her lower region. She panted a few times before huffing and snuggling into Vi's chest. "It was."
Her breathing was still labored, and Vi sighed before hugging her closely. "I haven't once forgotten about you."
Caitlyn's eyes widened, and she looked up to make eye contact.
"I always wondered if you were okay… if you survived… no one would tell me if you were alive, so I always ran on blind hope, praying you were out there somewhere."
Caitlyn blinked before hugging Vi closely, basking in their nakedness and burying her nose in her neck. "I missed you, Violet. More than you'll ever know."
Silence fell between them and for once, it felt right.
xXx
Vi had gone crazy.
One second, she was sleeping in Caitlyn's arms, the next, she was fucking having sex with her. What was she doing? This wasn't supposed to happen. She was supposed to be passing through Piltover for a job, not get chained down to it. She should've known this was a mistake.
Piltover meant Caitlyn and Caitlyn meant Violet.
Her heart ached when she saw how bad of a scar was left on her. She didn't know the extent of her wounds since she was a child back then, only that it wasn't good. She learned the pains of flesh wounds shortly after in and out of prison, so she could only imagine how much it hurt Caitlyn.
She brushed away a strand of hair out of her face before kissing her.
Having Caitlyn in her arms felt so right, and Vi found herself drowning in her presence. Every breath she took swept her off her feet. Every word she spoke made her weak at her knees. She fell hard all those years back and she never broke free.
Hell, Vi didn't even know if she had the strength to leave her again. Not after learning what she sounded like in bed and how she looked, shaking in ecstasy from her touch. It would haunt her nightmares if she couldn't get another taste, like some bad addiction. She had done drugs before, the dangerous shit even just to try it out, but never enough to get addicted. She set boundaries for herself, but she wasn't sure if she could do the same for Caitlyn.
No, she knew.
Not with Caitlyn. If she wanted her to jump off a bridge, she'd do it. If she'd ask her to kill someone, she would do it without hesitation. That was how bad she fell for her and how desperately she loved her. Even after ten years of surviving in a limbo of anger and guilt, she could never come to hate her.
Not her.
Vi hugged her tightly as if she would disappear if she opened her eyes. They fell asleep to each other's breathing. When Vi opened her eyes for the nth time in the same day, for once she felt relaxed. The tension in her body was gone despite her intense bed activities, and she felt…. normal.
It was a weird feeling…relaxed, but she didn't hate it.
Caitlyn was still sleeping in her arms, naked, so it wasn't a dream. That meant she actually had sex with her. She was fucked. Caitlyn's phone went off out of nowhere, and she jerked awake in her arms before twitching into action.
"Shit."
Well, that was hot and oddly cute.
Who would have thought Vi would get the privilege of hearing her swear? Her eyes quickly fell, and she watched as Caitlyn crawled on the bed, grabbing her discarded pants off the floor and wrestling for her phone. By the time she grabbed and picked it up, she was sprawled out on the bed, looking stupidly sexy for no reason, and Vi couldn't take her eyes off her slim waist and how enticing her pussy looked.
"Hello?"
She couldn't hear the caller, but she didn't care as she gave into her intrusive thoughts and crawled over before playing with Caitlyn's hair. Caitlyn immediately noticed that but ignored her as she spoke to the phone.
"Yes, yes, I am certain. In room 16 on the east wing."
She ran the tip of her fingers down her back, drawing mindlessly patterns on her skin and absentmindedly drawing a heart. Caitlyn shivered at the sensation, turning around and shooting her a look.
"He's with a young woman, possibly more than one, so bring everyone. I don't want him escaping or hurting the victim."
Vi gave in to her desire and she leaned down to her back. She pressed her lips on her shoulder before slowly scattering kisses down her body, and the lower she got, the more Caitlyn stirred.
"Yes… yes, understood. Please inform the staff, and I'll do my best to evacuate the guests if needed…"
She ran her hand past her plump ass cheek before trailing past the back of her thigh. That definitely made Caitlyn twitch, and she shivered when Vi grazed her lips down the center of her spine and in between her legs. She grabbed her thighs before pushing apart her legs. She stuck out her tongue before diving it.
Caitlyn hissed before trying to keep a leveled voice. "Alright… I understand. May luck and speed protect you."
Vi let out a soft moan as she began slurping her pussy. She quickly grabbed both of Caitlyn's ass cheeks and squeezed them tightly before using them as leverage to rock Caitlyn's body into her mouth. She vaguely heard Caitlyn drop the phone to the floor before immediately moaning her name.
"Violet…"
Their position sort of strained Vi's body since they were still lying face down on the mattress, but here Vi was, eating Caitlyn out from behind. Caitlyn's breath hitched before she slammed her face into the sheets. She fisted the fabric, moaning as her hips twitched into her mouth before panting and rocking back and forth in her mouth.
Vi flicked her tongue all over her swollen clit before sucking her bud and slipping her tongue inside her vagina. She thrust it in and out a few times before eating up whatever dripped out of her pussy. Her juices were more intoxicating than ever, and they tasted better with every drop. She began devouring her cunt more aggressively, and the rougher she was, the more Caitlyn shook.
"Vi…"
Caitlyn gasped again as her hips bucked. She let out the sexiest cry alive, and Vi's lower region ached with numbing desire as she swallowed her sweet release. She lapped up all her cum like a fine buffet, and Vi moaned in contentment the second Caitlyn whimpered. She gave her pussy one last peck before pulling away and kissing her way back up her spine. She made sure to grope her body as lewdly as possible. Her hands wandered, grazing up her sides and down her arms and legs, refusing to let her escape and wake up from this dream. By the time her front was pressed against Caitlyn's back, she kissed her neck before nipping her ear.
A strained moan left Caitlyn's lips as she shook from her post-orgasmic sensitivity. "Violet…"
She began dry-humping her body before sliding her hand down between her legs and cupping her used cunt. Caitlyn's breath hitched as she shivered.
"Fuck…"
Her breath hitched again, but this time, Caitlyn turned and claimed her lips. It was a sloppy kiss but a hot one nonetheless. Their tongues rolled around each other and Vi sucked on her tip before closing the gap. Their lips fell flush and Vi gently swirled her tongue in her mouth. It should've been gross after all the fucking they've done in the past twenty-four hours but it wasn't enough.
Her fingers did the talking for her.
She began pumping her fingers in and out of her pussy, all while curling them inward, right where Caitlyn's G-spot was. It took a second to find, but after all the exploding she had done, she knew her body like the back of her hand. As she thrust her fingers, she could hear how wet and aroused Caitlyn was. She was loose yet a little tight, as her walls devoured her fingers. Not for long, of course. When she came, Caitlyn cried into her mouth as her walls fluttered and tightened around her fingers.
Vi easily got off at how sexy she sounded, and they rode out another pleasant orgasm, just the two of them in this warm and toasty bed. The world didn't matter, and it was just them. Violet and Cait. All that mattered was the sound of their beating hearts and gasping breaths.
Until it wasn't.
xXx
Caitlyn slammed her forehead against the shower wall. Her last forty-eight hours were absolutely draining. One second, she was interrogating a woman for excessive assault, the next she found out it was Violet who disappeared ten years ago before getting trapped in a motel with her and experiencing shock about the truth of what happened during the fire to finally having the most amazing sex of her life.
She finally lost her virginity.
She should be happy.
But all she could think about was how Vi turned her back on her and drove off before the situation cooled down. She expected Vi to wait for the heat of the arrest to settle down so they could talk about what happened between them, but before she could even think to ask anything, let alone her phone number, she drove off.
Fucking weather.
It couldn't have snowed a little more, so she would be trapped with Violet another day. Just one more day was all she wanted. She bit her lip before letting the water run down her body. The impression of Vi's hands lingered on her skin, and she couldn't stop thinking about her. She couldn't stop thinking about her eyes and lips.
Fucking Violet.
She shut off the faucet before storming out of the shower. She dried off her worn-out body before making eye contact with her reflection. She blushed at the embarrassingly large number of hickeys scattered across her body. Was this what horny, pubescent teens felt like when it happened for the first time?
She sure as hell felt like this was it.
Somewhat shy but also excited.
She clapped her cheeks before shaking off her funk. She knew what she had to do. That was how Caitlyn found herself calling in and using her paid time off to drive up the 5 to who knew where. She vaguely figured Vi was heading toward Shale's Port in the Noxus territory. That was the only city north that one could only get to through Piltover. It was a small trade town, not much was there except the ports and trade, but a great place for people to disappear to wherever they pleased.
Her fingers tightened around the steering wheel.
What if Vi planned to disappear again?
What if she just got on a boat, never to step foot in this state, let alone the continent?
Her fingers started tapping in a nervous twitch.
She had so much to say, and she didn't know where to start. Needless to say, her drive was a blur. By the time she pulled into town, the first thing she did was drive around in hopes of spotting Vi's car. When she didn't spot it, her heart sank, but before all her hopes were shattered, she spotted familiar black hair. She pulled over into the nearest parking spot before rubbing across the street and chasing after her.
"Violet…" She called out, but her steps didn't slow down. "Violet," she started to jog after her before finally grabbing her arm and tugging at her. "Vi!"
They turned around and her heart sank. "Who the hell are you?"
It wasn't her.
"I— sorry. I got the wrong person."
They scoffed before pulling away and walking away.
Caitlyn sighed, feeling defeated. She was out on a wild goose chase, and she didn't know if Vi was in the city. She had a full day as a head start. Perhaps she had already finished her business and headed back already. She doubted the address on her fake ID was real either. She ended up sniffling, trying to stop her eyes when someone's shout caught her attention.
"I swear, it wasn't me! I didn't do it!" Some scrawny-looking guy exclaimed.
Her eyes snapped open when she saw the aggressor.
"I told you, I don't give a shit who did it. Just get me my money or my client won't be very happy." Violet exclaimed before laughing, "Maybe he'd be happy if I gave him your head instead." She then grabbed his hair before yanking his face closely. "You get until sunrise, grab what you owe or smile for me." She tapped his face, "Don't want you frowning on the chopping block." She spat in his face before shoving him aside. She then stood up before walking away, but before she went too far, she turned around. "Don't even think about running away, either. You don't want to know why they call me the Hound of the Underground."
He shook in place before scrambling out with horrible screams.
Caitlyn's mouth dropped, and her body reacted in her place. She ran over without a single word before slamming into Vi's back, giving her a crushing hug.
"What the fuck—" Vi shifted in place but stopped the second she laid eyes on her. "Caitlyn…? What the hell are you doing here?" She tried pulling away before yelling in a whisper. "You shouldn't be here! It's dangerous."
Caitlyn refused to tear herself away from Vi's neck. She breathed in Vi's scent. She was real. She was here. She wasn't a dream.
"Fuck."
Vi sighed before dragging them off to some inn. She quickly pulled her inside before locking the door and squaring her up.
"What are you doing here? Did you follow me? What about work? What were you thinking! This isn't a place someone like you should be here and—"
She talked too much.
Caitlyn pulled her in by the neck and shut her lips. She slammed her against the wall, and the kiss was equally sweet and addicting as their first one had been. Vi twitched before quickly settling into their position. She kissed her back, and they couldn't keep their hands off each other as hands wandered up and down her back. When they finally parted with a wet pop, Vi tried speaking again.
"Caitlyn—"
She silenced her lips again.
This kiss was messier than the first, and Caitlyn would be the first to admit that it wasn't great. All tongue and slop, like kissing a feral dog in heat. It wasn't pleasurable. It was just a desperate attempt at stopping whatever Vi had to say about breaking their relationship apart before they even had a chance at trying. Their teeth even clacked together, and Vi grunted before trying to still her hips. Her fingers dug into her sides and she practically gasped before trying to speak.
"Cait—"
She was desperate.
Caitlyn refused to let Vi speak and used her body as momentum to control the flow. She was thankful for her height at this instant, and she'd be sure as hell to use all her might to stop Vi from running away. This was her last chance, this was her plea to keep Vi by her side. Finally, the grip on her sides eased up before she flinched and pulled away when Vi bit down on her lip hard, hard enough to tear through her skin. Blood immediately dripped on the floor, and she groaned before covering her mouth.
She shot Vi a look of disbelief with a slight pout.
Vi just shrugged. "Sorry, Cupcake, hard to talk when you won't stop sucking my lips."
"Suck—" Well, that choice of words was vulgar. "I just… I don't want you to run away."
There was this sympathetic look in her eyes, and Vi sighed with a slight shrug. "Mmh, tried that but looks like I can't get away when with a persistent cop on my ass." She sighed again before pushing her hair back. "What do you want, Caitlyn? I've got nothing to say to you."
"Nothing to say?" She repeated, "Nothing?" She scoffed before wiping away her blood and ignoring how it was dripping down her jaw. "After toying with my body and taking my first, you have nothing to say!"
Vi twitched. "Your first—"
Caitlyn scoffed again. "If you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly the most attractive partner in bed."
Her comment made Vi immediately frown as she quickly argued back. "That's not true. You're amazing."
"And you're the only one that has said that to me, Violet!" She frowned, trying to stop her tears but failing to do so and continuing. "Every time I thought I could trust and— and be with someone, they all looked at me with disgust the second they saw my body! They couldn't look at me or even called me repulsive, and I just…" Tears fell down her cheeks before she hid her face. "You're the only one, Violet. Only you."
A soft sigh came out of Vi's lips before she pushed off the wall. She pulled Caitlyn over to the bed before gently setting her down. Once she was seated, Vi pulled away her hand and looked her right in the eyes. Her ears wavered, and she wiped away her tears before grabbing a tissue off the nightstand.
"I'm sorry."
Caitlyn relished the warmth of her hand. "For what? You've got nothing to apologize for."
She sighed again before shaking her head. "The fire, it was my fault. If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have scars."
"If it wasn't for you, I'd be dead." Caitlyn countered back.
Vi twitched and pulled away. She was about to pull away completely, but Caitlyn stopped her and pulled her hand toward her busted lip.
"You didn't start the fire, Vi," Caitlyn started in a serious voice. "You're no criminal. You were a victim, just like me. What they did to you was unfair and unjust. I'm sorry for what they did and put you through. I can't make it up to you, but I want us to get better. To heal and move on from the past."
She could see the hesitation on Vi's face, but all she could see was Violet, the girl she hopelessly fell for as a teenager, regardless of their social status.
"You were everything to me…" Caitlyn confessed. "I couldn't stop thinking about you, wondering if you were okay and if you had a warm bed to sleep in. I still remember the day you hopped onto my bed for the first time." She chuckled at the memory, recalling Vi's excited face as she jumped up and down with a huge grin on her face. "I was horrified that you were going to get us caught from all the noise you were making."
Vi laughed with a small smile. "It was one hell of a cushiony bed."
Caitlyn smiled before wincing from the cut on her lips.
"Shit," Vi let out a breath as she took a closer look at her lip. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bite you that hard." She then stood up before trying to find a first-aid kit. "They should have a basic med-box somewhere." After some rummaging, she found one. "A hah, found it!" She came back before kneeling in front of her again.
They made eye contact and held it longer than usual before Vi looked away. She opened the kit and pulled out a band-aid before unwrapping it and covering her wound. She firmly pressed the sticky part on Caitlyn's face, lingering there, before pulling away. Vi turned her back on her again, and Caitlyn finally had enough. She frowned before chasing after Vi.
"Violet…" She stood up before gently tugging her arm. "No, Vi, I… I don't want to lose you again."
xXx
Vi felt as if the world was pulling them together like magnets, destined to come together. That's how their relationship felt until the fire pushed them apart. Their pieces got lost and after ten years, they reconnected. She felt her resolve growing with every second around her, and she turned to meet her eyes.
She hated those eyes.
They were her weakness. They always had been. It was one of Caitlyn's features that she fell in love with first, and she could never… never say no. She finally took in a deep breath, closing her eyes and keeping it in as long as possible. Once she couldn't hold her breath for any longer, she breathed out before slowly opening her eyes. She looked straight ahead before slowly turning and meeting her eyes.
Fuck.
And that was all it took for Vi to break. "Cait… we're oil and water. Not meant to be."
"That's not true," she urged with a plea. "Stop saying that, Vi. We won't know about us until we try." She started closing in and Vi let her get close.
"I… I'm a criminal. I've committed crimes since I left prison."
"And?"
"And you're a cop… we're on opposite playing fields."
"And?"
Why was Caitlyn not seeing what she was seeing?
"I break laws, you catch those who do. Do I really have to spell it out?"
Caitlyn stepped into her space before closing the gap. Her lips were hovering just an inch away when she started leaning it. "You do." Their lips touched. "Otherwise, I won't take no for an answer." She ran her hands down Vi's arm before holding her closely and kissing her softly. They parted with a soft pop and Caitlyn hugged her affectionately before whispering in her ear. "Come back with me."
Vi tensed.
"Please."
She shut her eyes, basking in Caitlyn's warmth.
Dammit.
She sighed before breathing in her scent and letting it go.
"On one condition…"
xXx
"Vi, I can't believe you just made me commit a crime!" Caitlyn finally screamed in a whisper for the nth time today. Again.
Vi just shrugged innocently with an amused smile. "I told you we wouldn't work out."
"What— no!" Caitlyn grabbed her face. "That's not what I'm getting at, Violet. We'll be fine, I just can't believe you made me break the law!"
She shrugged innocently again. "Again, that's on you, Cupcake. You're the one that can't keep away," she half meant and half teased. "Besides, I think sleeping with your suspect isn't exactly legal either.
Caitlyn's face imploded in embarrassment. She cleared her throat before sipping on her iced tea and immediately made a face thanks to how sweet it was. She groaned before setting it down and looking at the ceiling. "Ugh…" She grasped her face, trying to hide herself from well… herself and world? "You don't think there's footage of me, right?"
"Footage, of what? You knocking a guy out and then dragging him over to a sketchy shed so I could rob him of all his belongings? Psshhh," Vi turned away with an amused smile. "Nah, don't think so."
This wasn't funny.
"I can't believe I did that!"
Caitlyn still couldn't get over it, even though they had left town more than three hours ago and were at a rest stop, getting a late lunch. She couldn't get the image out of her head. The image of Vi tossing some poor lad over a fence wearing nothing but a flaky towel wrapped around his waist after they stripped him of everything. Literally everything! That towel that was covering his decency was even found on the side of the street, and never had Caitlyn been so ashamed or guilty in her life.
Vi chuckled before waving around her fork. "Never committed a crime before, Cupcake?"
Her face scrunched, and she pouted at Vi with a glare. "I'm a cop, Vi. Of course, I haven't!"
She shrugged this time. "Hey, it's fun breaking some rules from time to time."
"Not when it's a crime like this!"
"Mmh, some of the worst criminals wear suits, Caitlyn." She then stabbed the sausage on her plate before playing around with it. "I know that at first hand. You'd be surprised by all the corruption…" She drummed her fingers on the table before eating her bite. "You probably don't want to know, though. Wouldn't recommend it."
Caitlyn sighed before facing Vi fully. "I must be going mad."
"Just don't get caught, you can't get arrested or convicted without evidence." She waved her fork around again before glancing at Caitlyn's plate and stealing a piece of her omelet.
Licking her lip, Caitlyn gave Vi a tight smile. She breathed in through her nose before shaking off her funk. "We're not going to talk about this again."
"You're the one who keeps bringing it up."
She had a point.
Vi smiled out of the blue. "If it makes you feel better, you looked pretty hot, Cupcake." She then winked at her with a cocky grin. "Watching you sweat and man-handle him made me…" She whistled before blatantly eating up her body.
Caitlyn suddenly felt self-conscious over her body, and she cleared her throat before standing up. "I'll go settle the bill."
"You gonna finish your eggs?"
"You can have them."
"Sweettttt."
Smiling at her silliness, Caitlyn headed to the counter before paying for the meal. She handed the cashier her card before glancing at Vi. She was wolfing down her leftovers and Caitlyn couldn't help but remember the time Violet scarfed down her leftover meatloaf and then that one time she had cream puffs for the first time. It was messy, to say the least, and she giggled before eyeing Vi's lips. She watched the way she licked some sauce off her lips, and her brain suddenly took a dive in the dumpster. She couldn't get the image of Vi between her legs and eating her out of her head, and her cheeks flushed before she snapped her attention back to the cashier.
"Miss? Is everything okay? You're a little red…"
Coughing to excuse herself, she gave them a curt smile before quickly taking back her card. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." She turned away without a second notice before walking back to Vi and fanning her face. Once she was back at the table, she held out her hand out of reflex. "Shall we?"
Vi looked at her hand before lifting an eyebrow and shooting her a look. "Alright then… Ma'am." She then grabbed her hand before standing up.
"Ma'am— do I look like a ma'am to you?"
She shrugged before giving her a playful salute. "Yes, ma'am."
Caitlyn groaned at that response as she tugged Vi out of the diner. "Let's just get back on the road."
They hopped back in the car, and Caitlyn spared Vi a glance as she started the car. She then backed out of the parking lot before driving back to Piltover. As they drove on, Caitlyn couldn't help but peek at Vi a couple of times. Surprisingly enough, Vi was quiet during their drive, and she couldn't help but notice that she was lost in thought. Soon enough, she reached out to grab her hand before asking.
"Are you okay?"
Vi hummed before turning to face her. "Why wouldn't I be?"
She rubbed the back of her hand with her thumb. "You hate Piltover." Her hand twitched beneath hers, so Caitlyn held onto her firmer. "I… I don't want to force you to come back. As much as I want you to be by my side, I don't want you to suffer because of me, Violet."
Humming sadly, Vi finally turned her hand around to intertwine their fingers. She looked at their hands, taking in how they were connected, before speaking in a soft voice. "I would be lying if I said I don't want to run away right now."
Caitlyn's jaw tensed, and she braced herself for the worst.
"But… I'm tired of running, Cait. Tired of… avoiding you." She chuckled before admitting, "You do know you're my one weakness, right? I can't say no to you."
"Violet… you can say no to me. You have the right to choose what path you want to take. I don't want to force you into doing anything you don't want."
"But that's the thing, Cait, I want you. I always have. Ever since I grabbed your hand on that balcony, I haven't been able to forget your touch. And your eyes… they make me weak and I…" She breathed out before looking out the window. "I shouldn't be telling you this."
"Vi…" Caitlyn gave Vi another squeeze. She thought about what to say, but nothing sounded right in her mind. She ended up smiling before speaking up. "Thank you for choosing me."
She gave her a short smile. "Don't make me regret it."
"I won't, I promise."
They settled into a comfortable silence before another lingering thought floated in her mind. Caitlyn rolled her lips together, debating whether to ask Vi, but, as if Vi felt her dilemma, she turned and asked her.
"You okay?"
She hummed to buy some time. "What do you mean?"
Vi's face softened as she let go of her hand before tapping her temple. "Your eyebrows. They frown when you're in deep thought."
Caitlyn jutted her lips. "They do not."
"Yes, they do."
She huffed as she rolled her eyes.
"Come on, spill it, Cupcake. What's going on in the sexy brain of yours."
Caitlyn grumbled before glancing at Vi. She then looked back at the road before treading carefully. "Can I ask you a question?"
Vi got more comfortable in her seat. "Shoot."
"Have you… Have you spoken to your sister?"
She immediately tensed in her seat. "I…" She breathed through her nose before shaking her head and looking out the window. "I haven't. Not since she told me she started the fire in your home." She absent-mindedly stared at some tree in the distance before asking back, "Have you…?"
Caitlyn shook her head. "I've never met her, only heard about her from you."
Vi hummed at that before crossing her arms. She rested her head on the window before spacing out again. Caitlyn could sense how tense Vi was, and she fiddled around with her steering wheel before asking in a quiet voice.
"Do… you hate her?"
She could hear Vi taking in a deep breath. She took a few before sighing and gripping her arms tighter. "Yes…?" She didn't sound confident before she changed her answer. "No…? Maybe, I don't know. It's complicated. She's my only flesh and blood left alive. She's the only family I got and well… her little mishap made me lose her."
She chuckled at the irony.
"I do…did love her. The reason why I admitted to turning your house into a furnace in the first place was to protect her." She then shrugged before shaking her head. "And look how that turned out. Best sisters around, am I right?"
Caitlyn didn't laugh at her joke. Her hand tightened around the steering wheel before she gently suggested, "You should talk to her."
Vi twitched in place. "Not now. I'm not ready."
"I'll be there with you if you need me."
"Sure."
She knew Vi was deflecting, but she wasn't going to press. She could only imagine how strained their relationship was. She just hoped that with time, Violet could heal from whatever scars she bore inside that weren't visible on the surface. Maybe then, she could smile as brightly as she had when they were teens whenever she pleased. Whatever the future had in store, Caitlyn would be sure to stand by Violet's side.
