"Wooo-hoooo!"
Ericka's excited voice hollered out happily as she soared down another steep road, practically flying down the street aboard the high-powered scooter within the narrow Italian alleys. Those who saw them zip by ducked out of the way to avoid getting hit. Drac also hollered out, but it was not in joy. It was in fear. The thrill was great, but it was Ericka he was terrified for. Every turn they made felt as though she was about to careen into someone or something. Thankfully, he felt relief when she skidded to a halt in front of the hotel they were staying at,La Bella Vacanza. Dust floated up into the air from the tires and she panted out happily.
"Ohh…wow!" she cried out, throwing her hands up in the air. "Stupefacente! That was amazing! Right, Drac?"
But Drac didn't respond right away. He was too busy catching his own breath, a death grip still on her hips from ever since she revved up the engine during their joy ride. "U-uh… yes! W-w-wonderful my love. Just great," he said rather shakily.
Ericka rolled her eyes. "Come on, honeyfangs, don't tell me you wereafraid."
"Not formeI wasn't," Drac said. "Sweetheart, don't you think you should be a little more careful?"
"I had it under control," she replied nonchalantly. "Besides, I trust you to save my life in case something went wrong. You've done it before."
"Yes, yes," Drac said, recalling. "But let's not test fate anymore, eh?"
"Okay, fine," she resigned, swinging her legs off the scooter and rolling it over to the curb. Once parked, she turned to him and smiled. "Alright then. We've still got about an hour left before the sun rises. Any ideas?"
Drac tapped a finger against his chin. "Well, we could always turn in early. Go upstairs, take a shower, get in bed…" He waggled his eyebrows suggestively at her and she shoved him on the shoulder, knowing very well what he was insinuating.
"As much as the offer is tempting, I think we've wasted enough time tothat," she said with a smirk. "I'm talking about arealidea."
"Okay, okay," Drac laughed. He thought about it, and then a great one clicked in his head. "Hey!" he said. "You tookmeout on a joyride… why not let me do it for you?"
Ericka put her hands on her hips. "But I thought you didn't want to get back that scooter," she asked with a raised brow.
"I wasn't talking about thescooter," he replied. Taking her hand in his, he began to pull them away. "Here, follow me."
Ericka shrugged and did as told, not fully sure what her husband was up to. They went off inside the hotel, going all the way up to the top floor and onto the roof. It wasn't as tall as Hotel Transylvania, but it did show an amazing view of the little Italian village below, with its quaint shops and homes scattered all around them. Ericka smiled, taking it in and sitting herself down on the red-tiled shingles. She could see the bright little dots that littered the blanket of dark sky above them.
"Stargazing, huh? Doesn't exactly qualify as much of a 'ride' per say, but I'll take it."
Drac laughed. "It's not. Not stargazing, I mean." She looked up at him as he stood next to her. Then, he leapt up, the magical ring of his transformation sounding and the purple mist changing him into a large black bat fluttering before her. "We're going to fly!"
Ericka's eyes widened as he flapped behind her and, using his bat feet, gripped the back of her white blazer top, starting to lift her up into the air with ease.
"W-woah! Drac, wait!" she cried out at the unexpected gesture.
"What's there to wait, love?" he asked, beating his wings in the air. "You like thrills. And I know you'll love flying - Mavy and I used to do it all the time!"
"Well, okay!" she called out to him with a shrug of her shoulders. At first, Ericka couldn't help but curling into a fetal position, her eyes closed and her body tense. The wind rushed by her face as he swept them higher and higher. Daring a glance after a while, she cracked open an eye, and then the other. And what she saw made her gasp out in wonder. "Oh!" Fluffy white clouds surrounded her vision, the beautiful moon shining in its bright fullness and a warm breeze in the air. The town below looked much smaller now, like cute little dollhouses nestled in the hills. The woman laughed as Drac swooped in through a bundle of the clouds, the fluff tickling her skin and leaving cotton-like pieces clinging to her clothes.
Drac looked down at her, and she giggled at the cloud-beard that was stuck to his chin and upper lip. "How are you holding out, my love?"
Ericka gave a toothy grin and spread her arms out wide. "It's wonderful!Woo-hooo!"
Drac was glad to hear it."Eccezionale!Ha, ha!" He flew faster and more daringly, his wings propelling them the same way Ericka had propelled the scooter on the road. Dips were made, dives soared, and all sorts of twists and turns and rolls that left him and his zing a cheerfully laughing mess.
The first signs of a yellowing sky is what finally reeled Drac in - that, and his little body was exhausted from all the energy that he had expended.
Ericka spoke between her delighted laughs. "We'd better get back inside, or else it'svampiro croccantefor you!"
"Oh, no, I don't think so, love droppings," he cooed teasingly as he alighted back on the hotel rooftop, shapeshifting back into a man and swinging her into a bridal carry. "If anything, it's going to bevampiro amoreforyou."
Ericka buried her blushing face in his chest and said no more. This was the part where they could go indoors, cuddle, and await a new day full of adventures. France and Italy were now crossed off their list of worldwide excursions, and the next stop would be Hawaii. Ericka couldn't wait, but first, there was some serious business that she knew Drac would want to get done first. What he did each time right before they left one of their stops to remember their trip by, and really any opportunity of downtime in between.
Before she knew it they were back in the room, the lights dimmed and the curtains drawn closed, lips meeting lips and skin caressing skin in a whirlwind of perfect abandon as her next ride of the night commenced.
