"It's your turn!"
"No it's not!"
"It is! I did it last night, so it's your turn this night!"
"No, Aragorn did it last night."
"So? You're older than me, so it's your turn, and..."
The twins' voices floated into the clearing where Aragorn was building the campfire. He looked at Fianéle and grinned.
"What are they arguing about this time?" he inquired.
Fianéle looked up from where she was bandaging her friend's shoulder.
"I have no idea," she grinned. "I'll ask them when they get back. What are they doing, anyway?"
"Collecting firewood," Aragorn answered. "I should have left Elladan to do the fire and gone with Elrohir. Then they couldn't argue."
"Yes, but you probably would have argued with Ro if you'd gone with him," Fianéle said with a sideways glance at Aragorn.
"I would not..."
Aragorn was cut off as the twins, still arguing, boiled into the clearing and dumped their wood down beside the fire.
"It isnotmy turn!"
"Yes it is!"
"Excuse me," Fianéle said with a quirk of her eyebrow that reminded everyone of her foster-father, Lord Elrond, "what are you two arguing about this time?"
"Dan says it's my turn for first watch, but it should be his because he's older!" Elrohir exclaimed, glaring at Elladan.
"No, it should be your turn," Elladan answered, rolling his eyes.
"Since you two can't decide, I'll take first watch," Fianéle said with a wink at Aragorn, who realized exactly what she was up to and had to turn away to smother a grin.
"What? You can't do it!" protested Elladan.
"Yeah, Adar would have our heads!" agreed Elrohir.
"So would Glorfindel," put in Aragorn, with a grin. "And Erestor. None of them like the girls taking watch unless it's absolutely necessary."
"Well, since Aragorn did it last night and you won't let me do it, I suggest that you hurry up and agree about which of you two it's going to be," said Fianéle, raising an eyebrow at them. "Otherwise, I'll do it and Ada can have your heads for all I care. Then we won't have to listen to you argue all day long."
"Fine, I'll do it," said Elladan with a sigh. "But it's your turn tomorrow, do you hear, Elrohir?"
"Yes, brother," Elrohir replied meekly.
