Oliver and Marie singing Somewhere out There; A song from An American Tail
It's already been days since Marie went back to Paris with her family after spending Christmas with Oliver in New York. It was already New Years Eve by the time her family got back. Marie is happy of being back home in Paris, but she misses Oliver, the best friend she ever had since she was brought to New York by mistake. Jenny gave Marie a pink collar as a Christmas present that looks like Oliver's blue collar. Jenny also gave Madame a picture of Marie playing with Oliver. Marie looked at it sadly knowing how much she misses him.
Duchess came near Marie as she looked at the picture of her and Oliver. "Are you okay, Marie?" asked Duchess. "I just miss Oliver, Momma," said Marie. "He cared about me since I was brought to New York. He was the only friend I ever had." "I know you do, Marie," said Duchess as she snuggled her only daughter. "I miss him, too. I know we'll see him again someday." "I know, I just hope he's thinking about me," said Marie. "I know he is, Marie," said Duchess. "Come. We must attend New Years with the others." Marie followed Duchess downstairs to the parlor where they are celebrating the New Year. Berlioz and Toulouse sees Marie's sad look as they realizes she misses Oliver. "We know how you feel about Oliver, Marie," said Toulouse. "Yeah, we miss him, too," said Berlioz. "He was fun to play with." "I know," said Marie. "That's why I love him so much. He was the best friend I ever had." "Marie, we're home for now," said Berlioz. "But when Spring comes, we'll see him again when we go back to New York." "I know," said Marie. She went to join the party trying to get her mind off of Oliver.
In New York, Jenny got in her pajamas ready for bed as she noticed Oliver feeling sad. "What's wrong, Oliver?" asked Jenny. She saw the copy of the picture she took of Oliver playing with Marie and realize Oliver was looking at it. "Oh, you miss Marie, don't you?" asked Jenny. Oliver just laid down on his bed. Jenny remembers how she rescued Marie when she was accidentally shipped in a box that brought her to New York City. She became fast friends with Oliver when Jenny brought Marie home with them, and they have grown to love each other. "I know how you feel, Oliver," said Jenny. "I miss her, too." It didn't make him feel better. "Hey, buck up," said Jenny. "Madame said she'll come back in the Spring and we'll discuss your future with her. We'll see her family again someday. I know it." Oliver knew that, but he still misses Marie. She climbs in to bed and turned off the lamp. "Goodnight, Oliver," said Jenny. "I love you." As Jenny fell asleep, Oliver climbed out of bed and walked to the window where he can see the night sky. He thought about Marie as he watched the stars over him.
At the same time. Duchess gently put Marie in her bed near Berlioz and Toulouse. "Don't worry, Marie," said Duchess. "We'll see him again someday. Now go to sleep. Goodnight." Duchess went to her husband Thomas and went to sleep with him. Marie waited until her brothers are asleep as she climbed out of bed. Oliver, the same time, climbed out of his bed and walked towards the balcony in Jenny's room. He looked up at the night sky thinking how much he misses Marie. With Marie, she walked towards the balcony of her owner's room and looked up at the night sky. She felt like singing on how much she misses Oliver.
Marie: Somewhere out there. Beneath the pile moonlight. Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight
Oliver stand on the window still thinking about how much he misses Marie as he looks up at the night sky.
Oliver: Somewhere out There. Someone's saying a prayer that we'll find one another in that big Somewhere out There.
He looks at the picture of him playing with Marie as he continues singing about her.
Oliver: And even though I know how very far apart we are. It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star.
Marie: And when the night will start to sing its lonesome lullaby. It helps to think we are sleeping underneath the same big sky-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y!
Oliver and Marie dreams that their pictures come to life as if they are together again as they sing the last verse of the song together.
Together: Somewhere out there. If love can see us through! Then we'll together. Somewhere out There. Out where dreams come true-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e.
The images faded away of them as they as if they are real one minute and gone again at the last minute. They both went to bed thinking how much they miss each other as they went to bed, thinking about each other and hope they would see one another again.
Here's the question to this short story: Will Oliver and Marie see each other and have more adventures with each other again?
