One year later….
The 2 legendary samurais were seen rebuilding a Samurai school. Since their names were included in the history books, many found out and willing to be the sponsor. The school was just starting to construct but few families were already interested to enroll their children. And this part kind of distract Gintoki. Katsura did not mention the incident ever again. One day, a long blonde girl was travelling until she saw the purpose of her visit.
"You made it!" Katsura hugged his girlfriend, Ikumatsu. Gintoki seeing his friend this happy made him a little bitter. He decides to shrugged it off. Soon, they finished helping her setting up her things for the ramen shop. Gin was chopping some woods nearby when he heard the two talking.
"What's the news up there?"
"Your faction is doing fine. I don't know how Elizabeth is doing it but it looks fine. Hasegawa-san was appointed as Shogun's assistant. Otose's bar was doing well too although she doesn't know what to do with her upper apartment."
"Well, should she rent it to someone?"
"I don't think she wants to. She thought Yorozuya will come back." Gin stopped on what he's doing. Ikumatsu continued, "Speaking of, it's been a year as well when Kagura went to her dad. Shinpachi was training under Shinsenggumi. The new Commander is Hijikata-san."
"Hijikata-san? What happened to Kondo-san?"
"He and Otae-san eloped almost a year ago after they got engaged. I think they were living in a nearby village. I heard Kondo retires so he could have a family with her." Katsura was shocked to heard the news, he only thinks of Gintoki. He rushed outside to see Gin leaving his chopped woods. Minutes later, he found him at the river bank.
"Don't worry Zura. I'm not going to kill myself". He said to him, not facing him, "I'm not going to end my life just for some uncute woman. She should be grateful to me. Now she's probably married and had a kid already. She picked a nice Gorilla who prioritize the family first. Unlike me…" Katsura doesn't know how to console him. He knew Gintoki was affected by this news big time.
"Let's go back to work Gintoki. "He only offers a distraction for him. Throughout that week, Gin never spoke a word.
But one night, Katsura was looking for Gintoki when he saw him drinking a bottle of strong liquor. He was sitting on the road, back resting on a wall. He sat beside him.
"Gintoki, you know you're an idiot, right?" Gin never replied instead he took a drink. "I thought I'm the one. I thought it was Sakamoto. Takasugi was never an idiot but you… you turned out to be the most idiot out of four of us." Suddenly, he saw Gin began pouting his lips, tears started to gather and Katsura is not used to see him like this. The last and only time he saw him crying was when Gin was about to behead their beloved master.
"I'm sorry Gintoki but you're the only one to blame. What are you even thinking?! You should have fight for her! If you feel you are not good enough for her, then why don't you do something about it then?"
"How should I know that?" Gin finally spoke.
"You just have to move on, I guess. You're too slow when it comes to woman. Now she's living happily there."
"I guess you're right. She's just a part of my memory." He took another sip, "I don't have the courage to fight someone I don't want to lose. And now she's married and having a baby with someone and it's not with me and I'm paying the price…" Zura took a glance of his friend. His eyes were so lifeless.
"Come on, I'll Walk you home. We have a lot to do tomorrow…"
In a nearby village from Kabukicho, a couple was living a domestic life. The guy was seen chatting with the village head while the woman was carrying a newborn baby.
"So, are you planning to?" The village head asked.
"I'm just waiting for her signal." Kondo answered. It was a typical morning for them. He just finished gathering vegetables with the farmers and watched her nearby. Otae, dressed in a yellow kimono he bought for her, was carrying a newborn. She found out Vitamin D from the sun is essential for the baby. Otae, on the other hand, was smiling. Ever since the baby arrives, it distracts her from all the problems she had months ago. She's thankful for Kondo for giving her this kind of life but…
"Granny Sonoko!" She shouted as she saw the kind grandmother. She handed the baby to her. "How's Megumi-chan?"
"Oh. She's fine now. She needs to rest but she will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. "
"Do you need me to take care of the baby?"
"No need! You should think of making a child of your own with your husband!" She blushed on her teasing. She hid her fingers from her.
"Well then, bye Granny! Bye Momo-chan!" Otae kissed the newborn and bid good bye to them. She turned around and jumped in shock to find Kondo behind her. "Don't scare me like that!" Her stalking senses deteriorated throughout the years.
"Honey…Do you think it's time for us to have a ceremony? To start a family?"
She felt pressured when images of her and Kondo having a family appeared in her mind. "Kondo-san…I'll tell you when I'm ready okay? For the mean time I'll prepare the ingredients for our lunch." Then she ran away. They have a peaceful life except when it comes to this argument. Kondo is not an idiot. He knew what's stopping Otae and he doesn't like any bit of it.
It was night and everyone was celebrating the opening of ikumatsu's Ramen shop and Gintoki's birthday. The men from the village were helping Gin and Zura in rebuilding the school. Men were singing karaoke, drinking and playing party games. But the celebrant was seen drinking outside, under a cherry blossom tree.
"Enough drinking!" Gin's heart was about to explode when he heard her voice. He took a breather when it was just ikumatsu. She took the bottle from him.
"Hey! It's my birthday! It's the best time to drink!"
"You drink everyday so it's not special anymore. Here." She handed him half of her popsicle. She has the blue bubblegum flavor while he has the strawberry flavor. It seems like the destiny was pranking at him.
"Even these colors reminded me of her. Your voice and insults are same as hers." Ikumatsu was glad that Gintoki was beginning to open up.
"Today is your special day so eat sweets."
"I don't like sweets anymore". It reminded him of this certain ice cream brand.
"You know I have friends from the red light district. You want me to introduce them to you?"
"I don't need to. I have a friend who's a courtesan in Yoshiwara and even she I don't even have interest in her…" Minutes of silence took them over until Gin first spoke, "How did you do it?"
"Huh?"
"You are a widow. How did you manage it?" He hopes she's not offended with his question. Ikumatsu took a deep breath, "Different people have different ways to handle grief. He died, as for you she still lives. I think you need to do is to move on. If…."
"If what…."
"If it's proven that she is indeed married. I only got rumors you know. The elope thing did happen."
"Thanks for getting my hopes up until you mention they eloped." Silence took over between them until he spoke again, "Seems like bad luck always happens to me…"
"Bad luck is happening to you… is because you're a dumbass".
Gin ignored her straight up insult. "I fought many battles throughout my life but I never think that this would be the hardest."
"It's because you don't have to fight anymore of these wars. You don't have enemies. Edo is in peace. You should think of your happiness for once. But right now, my advice is just focus on the present, not the past since you cannot change it anymore."
"If only I could do that, I hope I did confess or stopping her from leaving that night. But I'm her stupid samurai. Jealousy took over me."
"Well, you should eliminate those jealousy you're having with this." She handed him her popsicle.
"Eww…you already licked that! We're going to have indirect kiss!"
"I don't care if we have indirect kiss just take it!" She indeed moves like the brunette woman. Suddenly she ruffled his curly hair and smiled at him, just like how Otae smiles, "Still, Happy Birthday Gintoki."
He watched her going back to the shop. He started to eat the popsicle, "You really an idiot Gintoki."
"Happy Birthday Gin-san…" With her hair down and dressed in her nightgown, Otae sat on the porch. She blew a candle and started to eat a piece of strawberry.
Kondo arrives and sat beside her, "Otae-san, you became sick recently then you craved any strawberry flavored foods all of a sudden. Are we finally pregnant?"
Otae pushed him away, "No I'm not! I just got my period last week." Kondo was hoping a bundle of joy, instead it's a bundle of stress. Maybe her period is setting her mood.
"Kondo-san…" Suddenly she holds his hands and look at him straight in the eye. It's been a while she looked at him like that. He was hopeful that it was time but in his heart it feels otherwise.
"You're a good guy. You actually one of the best men I've ever met. Thank you for prioritizing my feelings above else and thank you for giving me this kind of life but I cannot do it anymore. I don't want to lie to myself. I don't want to lie to you. I don't want to live like this before our relationship escalates. I don't want my future to happen that I'll leave you and ran away or abandoning our baby because there is something I want to do. I don't want to be a wife and mother like that. So before it happens, I want to end this relationship." She took off the ring and gave it to him. "Forgive me." She bowed to him. Kondo thought the destiny was pranking him. He lifted her up. "Don't bow to me. It reminded me of him."
"Huh?"
"Remember the Obi wan incident. In front of the Yagyuu and Shinsenggumi, that guy bowed to us to spare time. He will never do that but he did. It's because of you." Otae kept quiet.
"I maybe a gorilla but I'm not stupid. We've been living together for almost a year and we do every married couples do but it's not enough. I tried everything Otae-san. How come that guy still there inside of you?" He was about to break down. This is the first time they had this intense argument.
"I do not own my heart anymore Kondo-san. He's far away and I feel lonely that I want to find him again. I thought living with you will stop me from thinking of him. You knew that I'm just using you and you're fine with it. I thought I could learn to love you so somehow in the future I can reciprocate your love…but it did not work. Thinking of having kids and a family, it scares me. I'm not saying you're not going to be a good dad and a husband. I already felt that and seen that. But still it feels wrong. I don't want to hurt you anymore. I'm sorry."
He took a deep breath. "So what do you plan to do?"
"I'm thinking of going back to Kabukicho and then go to that village and tell him everything. If he turns me away again. Then I'll move on. I will respect his decision."
"Please come back to me when it happens. Let's get married this time for good."
"I don't know what the future holds Kondo-san so don't hold your hopes up. You'll be disappointed." She kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you and forgive me."
He hugged her tight, so tight that it might be the last time from him, "Thank you for living with me even just for a year. Thank you for letting me experience what it's like to be your husband."
"Fiance for your information." Otae was grateful to meet this guy.
She stood up and gave her hand, "Come on".
"What is it?"
"It's our last night. Take it as my parting gift for you." She can't deny that they made a bond and he made her happy in some ways. He smiled as he took her hand and went to their room. The next morning, she finally left him and their home she lived for one year.
"Finally! I get to rid of this!" Shinpachi took off his Shinsenggumi jacket and threw it in the basket. Since Yorozuya is no more, he earns money thru Shinsenggumi internship. He also has to take care of the dojo.
"I wished Aneue is here". As if the sky was listening to him, the person he wished arrives in front of him.
"Aneue! You're back!" The Shimura siblings hugged each other under the gloomy sky.
The next moment, the sibling sat on their porch, "So you did not get married? I don't have a niece or nephew?"
"I thought you don't like eloping with him?"
"Yeah…but I guess I'm used to it. "
"Too bad. I ended our relationship."
"Well I see that. I see that your relationship may last or cut short. It lasted for a year. For some gorilla it's not that bad." They laughed. But there is something he wants to know, "What made you decide that Aneue?"
"I'm thinking of Gin-san…" She finally admitted. "I want to stay by his side…I just couldn't let him go. I've done that many times for him but not this time."
"I'm not surprised. When Gin-san was living with us, you only have the looks for him. That's why I'm surprised you went with Kondo-san. Even way before, you two have this unspoken bond, beyond family and friendship. To be honest, I should have spoken. I think Gin-san doesn't know how to handle relationship."
"I'm the only one to blame. I just made a lot of stupid decisions that I hurt everyone I love. You, Kagura-chan, Kyu-chan, Kondo-san and Gin-san… I just don't know if he really loves me…"
"Aneue…"
"I haven't really heard him saying that he does personally. And if he really liked me, that's probably from the attachment."
"It's not too late aneue. To be honest, I miss my Big Brother."
Otae was surprised to hear him say that, "Which Big Brother?"
"Gin-san of course. And no offence to Kondo-san but…I don't see myself working in Shinsenggumi. My heart is in Yorozuya." Shinpachi suddenly breaks down. Otae blames herself. She rushed things that's why this happens. She hopes she can fix the Yorozuya.
"Aneue, thank you for coming back. Because without you, there's no home for us. And whoever makes you happy, I will support you." Otae cried as she hugged her brother. They went thru a lot and still they got each other's back.
"So, what are you planning to do?"
"I'll freshen up first and take a rest. I don't want to rush anymore. I would think about everything I have to say to Gin-san. I will find him and tell everything."
"What if he turns you away again? What if he doesn't come back?"
"I'll respect his decision but I will talk to him in reuniting you guys. After all, seeing you three smiling at me is the most important. Then maybe I will stay single. Or maybe I'll go back to Kondo-san and build a family with him."
"Nah… I don't want him to be my brother-in-law."
"Every guy I met you always say that. You really want me to stay single."
"Maybe I'm okay with Gin-san."
"You should introduce me to someone you like…"
Shinpachi was thinking of possible suitors, "How about Hijikata-san?"
"Hijikata-san seems okay. His looks are so much better than Kondo-san. Plus, he has the same vibes as Gin-san…"
"He has a nice job and salary. Something you really want Aneue."
"And maybe he's the only one who could survive my cooking thanks to his mayonnaise."
"Should I call him?"
"Yeah, you should so he could prepare." Joking aside, Shinpachi knew that there is only one in his sister's heart.
It was just afternoon and yet Gintoki was drunk as hell. No matter how much he drinks, he remembers everything. Even though he doesn't want to kill himself. Those thoughts were killing him slowly and it hurts even more. More than the war battles he faced.
Suddenly, a familiar pink kimono was in front of her, "You're going to kill yourself. I have to scold Katsura-san for getting you drunk as early as this!"
He suddenly sat up, scanning her face if she's really in front of him. "Otae…."
"Yes Gin-san…"
He never stood up so fast. "What are you doing here?! You should be with your family, right?"
"Yeah. I should be with my husband and my baby but here I am, still taking care of you…"
Otae is really a sadist. She wants to see him suffer; he thought. But something strikes him, "Where is your ring?"
"I lost it. Just joking Gin-san, I'm not married and I don't have a baby…" Gin was speechless. He doesn't know if he's happy or mad. Otae was waiting for him to speak but 2 minutes and nothing happens.
"Gin-san!"
"What?!"
"You don't want to talk to me?"
"How should I know? I did not expect you here today! You should just send an e-mail-"
"You don't have a computer or phone. Besides I've been here…"
"Then why now?" He stared at the floor. He doesn't know how to faced her after what happened that night.
"It took me a year to find myself, to really know what's in my heart. I made a decision to be with Kondo-san after you said No. I thought I could move on and live with him and start a new life but it turns out I always think of you…" He looked at her beautiful face, for the very first time since that night. "My heart aches this much because I love you…" He felt he stopped breathing when he finally heard it, "Because of you I'm crying everyday…"
"And do you think I'm still the one? A guy like me making you cry is not a good idea-"
"Why is it hard for you to acknowledge your feelings? "
"Do you think someone like me is capable of making you happy? You admit it you cried every day. How could I face you after that? I've been a mess…" He doesn't want to turn her away again but he's scared that he will not be able to make her happy in a long run.
"Well I'm here now…"
"How could you leave a pretty life behind?"
"It's not pretty if I'm suffering not being with you."
"You know you act like your stalker now…"
"I just want to be by your side. No matter what it takes. No matter how much mess we made. I just want to be with you that's all I know." She cried.
Gintoki dislikes seeing her cry because of him. He took up the courage and closed their distance between them. Otae wrapped her arms around his waist as they embraced. They don't know how long they've been in that position.
"I'm not easy to love Otae…."
"Then I'll love you harder." Gin took the time to scan her face one more time. Gosh, he misses those chocolate brown eyes, her smell, her hair. Her everything.
"I don't know where life is taking me…"
"I'll go with you…" For him, he would rewind time, going back from the dead just to be with her. He could not let this uncute woman go. There is no perfect person. But Otae will always be the one who is perfect for him.
"I'm sorry. I'm the one to blame. Forgive me for acting that way." Despite of his answer and actions, this woman still chose him. How could he ever mess up again?
"We'll make things right together Gin-san. We've been through a lot. This is just one of those."
"I hope the kids will forgive me."
"They will."
"Well, I'm willing to leave now."
"No stay here. I'll stay here with you. Shinpachi knew what was going on. I found out from Kondo-san's officers about you rebuilding this school. It's important to you so I'll help you out."
This woman sacrificed a lot for him more than he did, he's beyond grateful. She's the peace he sought in his inner battle. She's the forgiveness he never gave himself. "I can't explain thru words how much I love you." He was never honest when it comes to his feelings but he's scared to lose her again. He cupped her face and proceed to claimed her awaiting lips.
She suddenly melts into his arms. They were alone in this tiny room and yet she sees fireworks. Her mind wanders, feeling of his lips against hers. She never felt this way when Kyubei kissed her or every time her and Kondo kissed. She felt electricity all over her body. She felt her heart is about to explode.
He never kissed anyone like this. He's melting into her but he has to be strong as he felt she was also melting into his embrace. Her face is tiny. She tastes like strawberry, his favorite. It felt like a dream, he doesn't want it to end.
They have to catch their breath at one point. They broke the kiss and stared at each other. Then without saying anything, they embraced once again.
"Thanks for sending Hasegawa-san to bring my stuff."
"I really want to go there. But I'm not ready to face him, "Shinpachi still holding a grudge against Gin even though he missed him.
"I know Shin-chan. He understands."
"So, it's final huh?"
"I want to settle down with Gin-san. I'm really happy here."
"Well, that's good enough for me." After minutes of talking, they bid goodbye on the phone.
"So that means you're quitting?" The new commander Hijikata Toshiro went beside him.
"Yeah. Sorry I cannot go on although I'm thankful for the training." He took off his jacket and gave it to him but Toshi declined, "Keep it. Just in case we need your services." Shinpachi just smiles as he remembers how the Yorozuya help the police force a lot of times. "So that means I'm not going to be your Brother-in-law anymore?"
"So, you're interested? That's a shocker."
"I'm the new commander so I'm feeling Matsudaira will pester me to find a suitable wife. Otae-san is not a bad choice. She reminds me of someone. I don't think Kondo-san will be mad at me if that happens. Plus, I think I'm the only one who can survive her cooking. Speaking of which, you should send this to him." He gave him a bottle of mayonnaise.
Shinpachi laughed. What a great day.
In the village, Ikumatsu and Otae were busy at the Ramen shop while Gin and Zura were resting on the other side. They calculated that only a week left before they open the school. Just a little paint and some paperworks and they're ready.
"You seem happy these days…" Zura teased his childhood friend and he blushed.
"What are you talking about Zura?"
"Zura Ja Nai Katsura da! Do you want me to tell Otae-san you're not being honest again?!"
"Hey shut up!" Zura just laughs. He might not win against Gintoki but only Otae can flip this man around.
"I'm just happy that the world works in your favor. Maybe you did something good to have this second chance…" Gin resonates what just Zura said. Maybe, all of his sacrifices were paid off. He's not a White Demon after all.
October 31 at 2am. Otae began to wake up for some reason. She noticed Gintoki was not beside her. She went out from their bedroom just to see him in the dining room, with some home cooked meals and lighted candles.
"Happy Birthday Otae." He stood up and kissed her as he handed her some flowers (Ikumatsu helped him to arrange it).
"This is beautiful Gin. I love it." After they exchanged hugs and kisses, they proceed to have their midnight meal.
"Sorry if this is all I got."
Before she looks for a man who has high-paying job but now as long as he could provide the best as he could, it's fine with her. After all, they could work together to reach their goal.
"It's fine Gin. This is wonderful." She grabbed a bite of the meat. He also baked some ice cream cake.
"How was it?"
"Delicious."
"Even better than that guy?" She could not blame him if he still jealous with that gori. After all, she spends a year living with him.
"Yes Gin. It tastes like home. And that's much better." She could taste the most delicious dish but she will choose Gintoki's cooking above all else.
After their home date, they went straight to bed but before they lay down. "I never regret going back to you." Otae cupped his face and kissed him gently. Next thing they knew, their kisses began to deepen. Gintoki can't help himself tasting her mouth. She felt the electricity all over again as their tongue danced with each other. They can't resist as they both bit each other's lips, making them smile throughout their passionate kiss.
Their hands began to roam their bodies. She felt his well-defined abs while he's feeling her curves. He loosened up one of her collars, exposing her fair shoulder and collar bone. She felt the love in every kiss he made as his lips touched those parts. He was about to loosened up the other side when she grabbed his face, "Gin-san…I'm not—" She can't finished her sentence. She wants to apologize.
"You're not comfortable?" Gin raised some concern. He doesn't mind not doing it tonight. Her feelings are more important.
"No, it's not what I meant. It's just that…I'm not…you know…" Seeing her get teary eyed, she's scared. He knew what she really wants to imply. "Hey, past is past. I'm focused on the present now. A friend told me that. I don't care what happened before. I have experience too. But I'm a guy so I know what you're getting at as a woman but it doesn't matter to me…" He began to untangled her hair, "You accepted me. I should do the same." Otae was grateful that this stupid man accepts her. She hugged him tight more than anyone she knew. Gin was feeling lucky to be able to experience this. They began to kiss again and they melt once again. Otae stopped the kiss and stared at him. In his vision, her eyes that night shows the same intensity every time she helps him and the kids to fight the battles. Otae started to untie her Obi ribbon and he followed suit. She looks absolutely beautiful under the moonlight as she completely took off her yukata and threw it aside. She never took initiative in taking her clothes off while she's still with that guy for a year. She never felt exhilarated like this before. "I'm sorry you're getting this flat chest."
"Are you kidding me? I got fooled by your clothing. Gintoki cuddles her after and attacks her with feather-like kisses on her face. This helps her to calm down. Gintoki stared at her pretty face. He never thought he could drive her insane. Her hair being messy, her pupils being dilated and her chest doing heavy breathing. He managed to do that to her. He gently fixed her hair, showing her sweaty but pretty face. The way his hand brushed against her cheek; she felt so loved. She gently cupped his face and caress it. They stared at each other; no words were spoken. She kissed him slowly and Gin started to melt that he did not notice that she switched their position again.
His hands travelled from her smooth back along down her buttocks. He can't believe he could touch her like this without getting punch. "This is so romantic Gin…" She whispered into his ear.
"I feel so connected with you Tae". He replied. She moved her head as he moved his lips from her jaw, to her neck. Their embrace began to tighten as the intensity goes stronger. Then seconds after, they reached their final destination. The best feeling they ever had. Gin was so high that he lay down along Otae to their shared futon. She played with his curly hair, exhilarated from what they've done. He lay his head on her chest. He could feel her heart beating and he's pretty sure she's hearing it the same. The feeling of their hearts so closed is so intimate. Making Love to someone like Otae is a dream he never thought came true. No stalking obsession and love potion could ever replicate this kind of feeling. Next thing they knew they dozed off.
"That's the best sleep I've ever had". Tae said. They were spooning the next morning. She loved every time Gin kissed her shoulder while he's hugging her back.
"Mine as well. I don't think I need to spend money on booze now."
"Of course, because if not I will leave you drunk on the streets." Tae faced him. Gin knew she will not leave him there but of course; he will not take advantage of her goodness this time. He's serious in controlling his alcohol consumption.
"You know, last night was the best birthday gift and best night I ever had." Otae said as she lay her head on his chest. He draped his arm over her smooth shoulder while their hands are intertwined.
"I will never see your mouth and waist the same way ever again." She looks up to him blushing. But he's her special someone so she replied, "Well I will never see your mouth and hands the same way again as well."
"Well, it's because you taste sweet. I can't help but devour it. You acted the same last night. I thought I would die. You sucking out of my soul."
"Well, you taste sweet as well. Shinpachi told me you're near diabetic."
"I never thought you can dance." He remembers the way her waist moves.
"It's a special dance and it's only for you." He smiled that he was special to her. "But there are times I got jealous…" Otae doesn't blame him if he reacts that way. She lay her whole body on top of him, reassuring him, "No matter how many times I did it, I will still choose you. You're the best night I ever had, remember?"
He hugged her tighter, "I know. It's just…he was able to do that to you as well. I can't help not to be jealous when he's the first one you ever make love with…"
Otae reassured him again, "There's a difference between making love and sleeping together. You fall on the first part. Besides, if I could just rewind time, I also want you to be my first…"
Noticing her mood changes, it's his turn to calm her, "Like what Ikumatsu said, Past is past. The fact that you choose me in the end is enough for me. I'm sorry if I still feel jealousy. I'm controlling it I promise!"
Otae smiled, "I know you're doing your best. I'm the one to blame. I was frustrated that day so he comforted me. I thought it would change my feelings to you but it was the opposite. Every night it feels forced. I'm trying my best to focus but after we finished, I always regret my decision. Your face is the last thing I remember before I sleep. That's why last night was the best because that's the time I really want to do it. No forced feelings, just the connection between us." Gin's heart is about to explode from her confession. He never thought she felt that way for a year. If he only fights for their feelings….
"Well from now on, we'll be together. Through thick and thin. And I promise Otae I would be best version of me…for you."
Otae smiled that Gin was willing to exert an effort. She will never be tired to see this side of Gin that was only for her, "Thank you but don't change as well because if you change, it would never be the Gin-san I loved. You know what I mean."
"Got you. But you know…" They were back to their unusual conversation after the heartfelt confession, "If you realize something from that experience, let me know…"
"What do you mean Gin?"
"You know, I want to know your sexual preferences. Let's be real, Sexual intimacy is also important in a relationship so if from that experience there are parts you feel disappointed, let me know so I can improve it to you…"
Otae was thinking about it. "I don't feel disappointed actually—"
"WHAT?!" Is this girl playing his mind or what?
Otae laughs. Seeing her like that, he finally proves that she's a sadist, "Gin-san! You look so cute when you're jealous! I thought your controlling it?"
"I am! I did not expect you answer like that. And what do you mean you're not disappointed?! That's a freaking gorilla!"
"Hey! He might look like a gorilla but he's human too. He has a name okay. I mean if you're talking about pleasure, I don't feel any complains. My only problem is the person. I force myself to do it to the man I don't really love."
"Are you sure? Like nothing at all?!"
Otae smiled at his sudden annoyance. She finds it really cute. She can't help but tease him a little bit more, "Okay if you really want to know, maybe I should share you some explicit things I've done with-"
"EXPLICIT!?"
"Gin-san…we're talking about sex here. Of course, its explicit. What we did last night is explicit."
"But still, don't shove it into my face..." Seeing him getting teary eyed, she needs to stop. She doesn't want to abuse his goodness in him, "Okay, if you really want to make me happy in this area of our relationship, fine. Let me think about it and tell you if I realized something. Of course, I would say it in a subtle way. But promise me you will not get jealous?"
"Okay but promise me as well you will not enjoy reminiscing it…"
Otae furrowed her eyebrows with his request but since she's her special person, she nodded. She gave him a kiss and he deepened it. Before it escalates, someone's banging at their door.
"Gintoki, you're up? We have a lot of paperworks to do…"
Gin slapped his forehead seeing the clock while his girlfriend just laughs. "I'll be there in an hour." Seeing her occupied, Gin took revenge and carried Otae bridal style. "Gin-san!", she screamed. Gin did not pay attention as they went straight to the bathroom.
The Grand opening of the Samurai school was a success. All of the major sponsor and the village chiefs were there to celebrate the ceremony. The friends the two couples made helped them with the opening. From managing the students to helping the two ladies to accommodate all the customers at the Ramen shop.
The son of the old man who asked Katsura for the service was beyond grateful. They managed to register 20 students on the first day. Katsura and Gintoki reminisce what they learned when they were kids and now to be the master of the same school felt surreal. The school became successful that the coming months the school became popular and it reached Kabukicho and whole Edo.
At the end of the day, the two couples enjoy their favorite ice cream at the top of the hill.
"Thank you for helping me, Gintoki. Without you. I might not be able to finish it on time."
"No worries Zura. I felt good paying back to the school."
"Well, me and Ikumatsu-san will stay here for good but we will visit Kabukicho from time to time. What is your plan?"
"For now, I will stay. I love teaching those kids. It's up to Otae-chan if she wants us to go back."
Otae replied, "If you still want to teach those kids Gin, I don't mind. I'll stay here with you…"
"But if you ask me Gintoki and Otae-san, Gin really belongs at Kodoukan Dojo." Both of their eyes widened about Zura's opinion, "Without Otae-san, you will never meet Shinpachi. Without Shinpachi, you will never meet Kagura-chan. Basically, Otae-san was the glue of Yorozuya. One of the most important things to her is that dojo." He remembers the first time she saw her feisty attitude that draws him until to this day. She was willing to sacrifice every thing to save that dojo. And this woman saved him a lot of times. From treating her wounds to being the light in his darkness time. It's time to pay her back. This is the smartest thing Zura told him.
"I would…"
3 years later….
"Kagura-chan, where have you been?!" Shinpachi scolded the now 19-year-old red haired China girl.
"It's not my fault the terminal is busy! It's Christmas season, everyone is travelling."
"Guys shut it! You guys never changed." Otose said, still puffing smoke even though her hair is now full grey.
"Can't believe it's 3 years…"
"Timeskip again huh?"
"It's odd that it's 3 years, not 2 years. Usually here in Gintama it's always 2 years if you talk time skip..." Saigo said. They were staying at Otose's bar. Aside from Otose, Saigo and the kids, Katsuo, Azumi, Catherine, Tama are present as well. Madao was outside waiting for someone.
"Maybe this one is the real one? You know those time skip it's either a wart epidemic or some fake foreshadowing…"
"HERE THEY ARE GUYS!" Madao announced happily as he brought some bags.
"WELCOME BACK!" They greeted the king and Queen of Kabukicho, Gintoki and Tae.
"Wow! This is a nice wine!" Otose said as Gin put a bottle on the counter top. He noticed the 2 teens were controlling their tears. "I'm so sorry you guys-"
"GIN-SAN/GIN-CHAN!" The 2 teens ran and hugged the patriarch tightly. Gin smiled. Actually, everyone was smiling seeing the reunion. Noticing his sister is hiding behind Gin's back, "Why are you hiding there Aneue? We want to hug you as well…"
"Well…" Otae went in front and everyone was astonished. Otae was carrying a bundle of cloth. Inside of it was a cute baby boy with a thick curly white hair.
"ANEUE/ANEGO!" Before they squashed her for the hugs, she managed to give the baby back to Gin. Gin noticed the look from Otose. He quietly went to her and gave the baby. It felt surreal for both of them. They might be a fake mom and son but their feelings are real.
"I can't believe I'm a grandma today."
"When was this Otae-chan?" Madao asked.
"I just gave birth 3 months ago…" Otose observed the baby. He got his dad's hair and his mom's eyes.
"Aneue! You never told me! We were speaking on the phone almost every day!"
"I really want to say it but we want to surprise everyone! I'm sorry Shin-chan."
Azumi asked, "So you guys are married now?"
"Not yet. That's why we're here." Gin replied. "We actually want to go back a year before but the baby happened. And we think it's gonna be more special if we celebrate it with you guys." They made a lot of memories with these guys so they should be a part of the celebration. "That's why…" Gin looked at Otose in which she responded, "You want me to officiate?"
"You're the one who thought that we looked good together. Plus, we made your Final Fantasy came true so…."
"Okay. No need to explain. I'll accept it."
"YEHEY!" Everyone cheered.
"Guys let's start planning the wedding! The cards, the catering…" Saigo suggested.
"Granny! Please let me hold the baby!"
"No Otose-san! Give the baby to me! I'm his uncle!"
"No! I'm his aunt!"
"I'm the legit one!"
"I'm part of the family!"
Otae laughs at the chaotic scene. She was proud of her decision to surprise them. She did not notice Gintoki was looking back at her. He remembers that Takasugi and his former master implies that the woman beside him is his future. Well, he's looking at it right now.

Notes: Yes! My first fanfic/chapter at the start of the year! See I told you this is the Romance Chapter. I apologized for some OOCs moment. I knew there are scenes that was kind of Telenovela or Kdrama but I really wrote this for the drama. I want Gin to suffer and almost losing hope but Otae fights for him. I hope you enjoy! I tried my best to add some flowery words during their love scene. I want you readers to imagine it as making love, not sex...you know what I'm talking about.
